The Xavier School
Is No More

Welcome to EARTH 740


The World has changed in the wake of the Purifier Attacks, and we've had to change with it.

Until the Xavier School is rebuilt, the X-Men have retreated to the Savage Land, to the repurposed ancient temple they've named Utopia. Surrounded by a dinosaur filled jungle, they've built as safe a home as possible for their students. It hasn't been easy, but they need the time to recuperate, and restructure, time to decide if and when they will return to the world they left behind.

And, what is happening in that world?

In Mutant Town, X-Corps has made the dramatic step of going international, using the new global awareness of mutantkind to attempt to create a safer and healthier environment for all. X-Investigations has risen from the ashes of X-Factor, seemingly disbanded in the very public, and very falsely reported, death of Alex Summers.

After being "posthumously" exonerated of the crimes he committed as the Horseman of War, Havok went underground, literally with the remnants of this team to reemerge, as the Mutant Hunters, supposedly human agents of the government meant to claim troubled mutants and remove them from human civilization. In the Purifier induced climate of hatred, the Mutant Hunters ferry the newly born of the genetically enhanced off to the Utopia School, before they can be captured by Shield, or worse, recruited by the Brotherhood.

Magneto and his people thrive in the underwater hideaway of Sanctuary, but lately, something has begun to stir there. The Master of Magnetism has been harder, more violent than ever before, leading some of his nearest and most trusted lieutenants to betray him, spiriting away a mysterious boy named Joseph, without a history of his own.

But Magneto is not the only rising danger threatening our lives, our world. The Hellfire Club is set upon by the powerful and purely evil Selene, in search of the Infinity Gems in their possession. Shield's new elite team, the Defenders, are attacked by a spectre from Captain America's past. A mysterious little girl is rescued from one of Mr. Sinister's secret labs. All around us our friends and our family are becoming strangers, unfamiliar, dangerous.

What's happening to us? Why is our world spiraling out of control?

The [REVOLUTION] is coming, that much is certain, but when it does...

will there be any of us who survive?

One of the Ancient Temples claimed and repurposed for the X-Men. It has barracks to house up to five hundred mutants, including a recreation center, a cafeteria, and private/semi private dorms. It is not fully operational yet, but we'll get to work on that.

The beating heart of Sanctuary. In the very center of the city, it stands tall for all to see and is considered one of the most beautiful structures mutant architecture could produce. A series of corridors and shining halls... glossy floors and carpets... it is the perfect example of aesthetic quality and efficiency. Gardens with some of the most beautiful foliage, constantly being tended make it a peaceful place to conduct business.

Some of the best healers in the world work and train under this roof, and no injured mutant could find more capable hands. This building holds the keys to Sanctuary. No coming or going unless you pass clearance through these specially trained officers. Once you've satisfied their criteria – as with coming or going from any country – you're allowed to leave and go anywhere you wish. Trafficking is monitored and managed through a team of teleporters and their support staff found in one of four large teleportation bays. No fear of discovery since very few actually know where the geographic location of Sanctuary is. On arrival, you're made to go through customs clearance as well as a medical checkup to make sure you're not bringing in anything detrimental to Sanctuary. It's for everyone's safety and the continued survival of our safe haven.

A series of three conjoined buildings. The largest is the Brotherhood Headquarters. Second in size is Sanctuary Law Enforcement Headquarters for those who work strictly to keep Sanctuary's streets and lands safe. The smallest of the three buildings is the prison, only due to the fact that the upper levels are for processing lawbreakers and prisoners of war. The holding facilities are found below the building and are extensive. The Barracks are connected directly to The Citadel and The Infirmary through a series of direct underground tunnels for quickest transport.

Often referred to as Sanctuary while in fact Sanctuary refers to the entire area beneath the protective dome, The City is the hub of Sanctuary's economy and where the majority of mutants can be found. Whether by means of motor vehicle, mass transportation designed by the best mutant minds, or by means of mutant powers, the City is constantly crawling with beings of all sizes, races, colors, and abilities. Many are coming and going from work, while others are out enjoying their lives in ways they were unable to do so before while hiding in the shadows out of fear.

Woods, fields, hills... surrounding Sanctuary is a relatively large expanse of land meant for agriculture and for the enjoyment of Mutantkind's growing population. Greenhouses and facilities can be found around meant to grow all manner of fruits, vegetables, and grains, as well as many found growing the old fashioned way. Livestock are kept and tended while the woods are full of the typical sounds of life. There are several large enclosed parks located in different areas, each having eco systems of their own – rainforest, mountains, lowlands/swamps, and aquarium life... all for the enjoyment of mutantkind.

Situated near the edge of Mutant Town on the corner of two streets, the complex consists of several large buildings, previously empty and cited for demolition which have now been renovated and knocked into one large building. The outer shell of the building has been carefully restored while the inside is spacious and modern, with a large, open entrance hall and reception area, which is always manned, acting as the first point of contact for those in need.

Co-run by X-Factor and X-Corps, the bottom floor of the halfway house donated to Mutant Town is being refurbished and set up as a medical center for the area. Mutant and Human Doctors are needed in this joint venture to improve the lives of all the genetically enhanced who otherwise would have nowhere to go not just in emergency situations, but for colds, vaccinations, etc.

The "Headquarters for the Thunderbolts. In this top security access wing of the Helicarrier, the Thunderbolts are on permanent lockdown. Each Thunderbolt has their own quarters which are locked at night, and guarded. There is a central living area, without a kitchen, meals are delivered at scheduled times. There is a training area one level below, specifically for their use, also at set times. Thunderbolts cannot leave their Lockdown without permission or supervision, ever.

Many a story begins here, in the gritty streets of The Big Apple. Situated roughly two hours from the Institute, many outings to various portions of New York happen from time to time. But, these outings are highly regulated and underclassmen are not to go out to New York on their own.

The small upscale town of North Salem is a pleasant little suburban town. While pleasant enough for the day to day average human, the more extreme of mutants would quite honestly.. not do well venturing into town. It's downtown is typical of all small towns-- antique stores, coffee shops, and other mom and pop type stores.

An experimental hybrid ship/submarine that was liberated from Shi'Ar control by Corsair and his crew. She's since become their home and headquarters. Usually docking in one of the hundreds of underwater caverns that burrow under the island, they stay as far under the Shi'Ar radar as possible until they want to be seen. The Starjammer is ugly as hell, she's filled with cobbled together and unusual equipment that needs constant repair, but she's home, something that few of her crew has otherwise.

The Shi'Ar Imperial Fleet is a flotilla of captured and experimental crafts, that patrol not only Madripoors harbor but the open seas on their illegal business. Because the Majestor runs Madripoor, there is very little stealth. Why hide in the shade when you command the sun?

Much of the criminal activity in Madripoor is smuggling and piracy, as well as the illegal ransacking of wrecks and other underwater ruins, some of which are said to be the remnants of Old Atlantis, but surely that's just superstition.
