here.POWERSGENERAL DESCRIPTION:Being a normal flatscan human, Eric O’Grady, Agent of SHIELD, has no powers. His abilities come from a suit that he wears. His main power is size reduction. The suit uses a super secret technology that shunts his mass into a pocket dimension there by letting him shrink down to the size of an ant, roughly a quarter of an inch in height. Despite having his mass exuded into this other dimension, O’Grady is able to retain the strength he would otherwise normally have. As a normal human, Eric has the strength of a man his size that partakes in regular SHIELD physical training.
Another feature of the suit are the two extra legs that extend from the mid back. They house jets that allow the wearer of the suit to fly. A second attachment allows the suit to attach to metal surfaces via magnets. This allows him to hang upside down or scale metallic walls. This feature of the suit has more uses when the wearer of the suit is in the reduced size but the jets do provide enough thrust to lift an average sized wearer through the air for flight.
The final attribute the suit offers is size enhancement. Using the same principle as the science behind the shrinking, only in reverse, the suit allows for the wearer to grow to a height of fifty (50) feet. This is accomplished by added mass from this pocket universe. This allows Eric to gain strength exponentially. At his maximum height he has the strength to lift 20 tons. At this size, he is not capable of flight.
WEAKNESS:In the shrunken state, Eric is vulnerable to crushing. He does retain his normal sized strength but if he was caught unawares, he could be trampled underfoot. Eric mainly uses his suit for spy work and espionage but it is easy for him to become distracted. He is more vulnerable at this size. In his enlarged state, he can suffer strain on his muscles and bones. If he tries to grow beyond his maximum threshold he will become weaker but this is because it takes much more of his strength to support the larger amount of mass. In the larger size, Eric is highly susceptible to attacks to his Achilles’ tendons. Eric also lacks a lot of experience in the field. He has used the suit extensively but that was for less than noble endeavors.
OTHER SKILLSEric is a trained SHIELD operative. He has basic hand to hand combat training and basic firearms training through the SHIELD academy. His specialty was with the security monitoring and data interpretation. His background was not entirely physical.
PERSONALITYSimply put, Eric O’Grady is a douche bag. He is not a terribly pleasant person to be around. His personality is somewhat abrasive and it was a surprise that he had any friends whatsoever. Eric is often times loud and obnoxious. He often says inappropriate things at the inappropriate times as well. He struggles at work to keep his comments in line since he realizes that his job might hang in the balance but most of the time he says what is on his mind. Usually what is on his mind is not of the greatest importance or of the highest moral caliber.
Eric is also self-serving and somewhat cowardly. He used his suit for personal gain for months and lacks scruples. Eric would much rather stay in his quarters and play video games instead of going out on missions. He realizes that he could die on any given mission now that he’s a “superhero.” The thing that keeps him going on the missions is that he knows it is his job and as a “superhero” he gets to impress people (mainly women).
Despite his personality, he doesn’t really desire to hurt people. Yes, he watched women shower and change, but he never made any kind of violent advances on them. Yes, he did steal jewelry while they weren’t looking and pawn it off but they probably weren’t going to wear it anyway. Eric does know right from wrong. If he were given orders to something wrong or largely deplorable (by his standards) he would have a hard time and balk against it.
HISTORY Eric O’Grady did not lead a life worth mentioning. He was born in Buffalo, New York to average middle class parents. He grew up with his best friend Chris McCarthy. They were best friends all through school. Chris excelled at sports and academics while Eric was average at best in sports and mediocre in the realm of academia. After their graduation from high school, the pair moved to New York City and attended Empire University. They roomed together for those four years and their friendship grew stronger. Chris took right to college life and fit in. Eric took some time finding his footing but he did well in his classes and earned a degree in business administration.
Eric was happy for his friend but at the same time couldn’t help but feel that he was being left in Chris’ shadow all the time. He had lots of friends and met lots of people. A lot of the parties that Eric attended were because he was invited through Chris. Eric tried not to let it bother him so much during school. To keep his mind off of it, he put his mind toward his school work. It turned out he was great with number and data. It was this that got him noticed by SHIELD.
Eric was approached by SHIELD to be a security technician and monitor data and numbers that flowed in from surveillance around the world. He was so excited he hurried to tell Chris the good news. It turned out that Chris was also approached by SHIELD to become a field agent. Eric was happy for his friend but he couldn’t really hide his disappointment. Chris was going to get the better job.
Eric and Chris were stationed on the same helicarrier high above Arkansas where their direct supervisor was Mitch Carson, who Eric looked up to as a great Agent. They kept in touch but Eric was monitoring security all day while Chris was usually in the field. After a while, Eric developed a crush on Agent Veronica King. He had flirted with her and asked her out after a long while. It turned out that she was dating Chris! Eric and Chris were best friends, how could he not let him in on the good news? Despite this, they tried to remain friends, playing poker once a week with other SHIELD operatives on the helicarrier.
DURING APOCALYPSE: When Apocalypse attacked, the world was sent into a spin. SHIELD was put on high alert after these events. Eric saw all kinds of heart-breaking data come across his monitor. Suddenly he was called away from his station. It was Chris, he needed help. Eric hurried to the science wing of the aircraft. Chris was charged with securing the prototype equipment within one of the labs.
Together they tried to load everything when Chris found a prototype suit that would allow the wearer to shrink to miniscule size. Eric suggested that one of them could wear the suit to survive the crash. Chris rejected the idea. They couldn’t just use the equipment for their own sakes! They had to help the other agents evacuate once they secured the equipment. At that moment, the airship lurched causing Chris to knock his head on the bulkhead. There was a lot of blood and Eric could have sworn he could see brains. In a moment of panic he put the suit on and shrank to tiny proportions. When the carrier crashed, Eric survived. Chris’ body was found in the wreckage during the clean up. Eric never told anyone what had happened. He still had the suit and he kept the secret of Chris’ death with him.
In the time after Apocalypse, Eric kept the suit hidden and practiced using it. He loved using the suit. It allowed him so much more freedom than he normally did. He could sneak into many different places and see things he normally didn’t have access to. These places included various women’s locker rooms, bathrooms, and changing rooms. Eric had no shame. He was never caught either. He was also sneak into their bedrooms and steal their jewelry to pawn it for cash. It was during this time that during an inventory of the equipment from helicarrier the shrink suit was notice to be gone. An investigation began led by Mitch Carson.
Once SHIELD and the world got back on its feet, Eric met with Veronica again. He still had feelings for her and was able to seduce her. Eric enjoyed having a girlfriend because it allowed him to have sex but he much preferred playing video games to actually talking to her. After some time together, Agent King revealed that she was pregnant with Eric’s baby. He immediately broke up with her and avoided her when he could on the new helicarrier.
Not long after that, Eric was apprehended by Mitch Carson. Mitch had pieced together that Eric had stolen the suit. Eric had thought he was sly and avoided giving any hints as to him having the suit. Mitch was quite unstable and came to Eric in his holding cell. Mitch was wearing the suit and began torturing Eric sadistically by shrinking and entering Eric’s body to wound him. When Mitch returned to normal size and was about to burn Eric’s face with the jets other SHIELD Agents entered and saved him. Mitch was then taken in and “dealt with.” After that incident Eric was busted back to his data position under close observation.
Later Eric was approached by SHIELD science officers. They wanted to talk to him about the shrinking suit. They had been trying to find the perfect solider to wear the suit but could not. All of the candidates did not fulfill the needs and lacked experience. With some reluctance, they asked Eric to perform the training module using the suit. To their surprise he had outperformed every other candidate thanks to his experience with the suit he had kept for months.
Now, Eric works with Cameron Hodge. As a SHIELD agent he can operate anywhere on the planet but his main duties lie with Mr. Hodge and his operation. He currently uses the codename Slaying Mantis. It isn't a very good codename. His is told this very often.
SAMPLE RP POST:Behind the safety glass, the three scientists were watching Eric. He was wearing the shrink suit. He rolled his head around his shoulders and shook out his arms. It was time to limber up. He had to give them a good show. They wanted the best and they were going to get it. The three androids sat lifeless across the room from him. They were human shaped from the waist up. Their head had a single red eye like camera. From the waist down, they were oval shaped and looked like a bowl turned upside down. Eric wondered how they would move, how they could come at him. “We’ll be watching you and observing closely. Just perform as you normally would; no need to feel anxious,” one of the scientists said.
“Never had performance anxiety in my life, friend,” Eric quipped and then thought,
Except for that one time. “Though I never had an audience before.”
Except for that one time.Behind the glass, the scientists shook their heads in unison and pressed the big red button. The droids raised their heads and arms as they came to life. There was a whirring noise and they began to float in the air. So that is how they got around! The droids spread out and advanced on Eric. The one on his left fired both fists out like piledrivers. Eric yelped and twisted around. He ignited the jets on his back and zipped out of the way.
Tek.
The world was suddenly huge. Everything towered above Eric. He zipped through the air on his little jets, zigging and sagging. He landed on the red eye camera of one of the droids. It raised its buzzsaw hands ready to slice the little man to ribbons. In an instant he returned to his normal size. The mass of his body pulled the robot over, upturning it. He shrank immediately again just as another droid used its piledriver fists to pummel a hole right through the chest. Buzzsaw droid began to power down.
Eric was buzzing around trying to find an advantage to exploit when a plume of flame erupted around him. “Ow-Chihuahua! You’re going down next flamer!” Eric yelped.
He flew up and around to get the attention of piledriver-bot. Eric zoomed across the camera and then up into the air. The droid followed him toward the ceiling. With piledriver right in position, Eric alighted on its head and grew to normal size. The mass change was unexpected and it crashed to the ground. Flamer bot was directly underneath and was crushed by the falling android. Two down one to go. The piledriver was on its last legs, so to speak. It was hovering about at an angle of kilter.
Eric was still at his normal size but was across the room. He held the buzzsaw arm in his hands as he angled his jet at the vulnerable elbow joint. The arm snapped off and Eric brandished the bladed arm at the remaining robot. He swung the blade to slice off the camera head of the robot. It landed on the floor and spun around until it completely stopped. The droid finally keeled over and crashed to the floor.
Eric was breathing heavily and dropped to the buzzsaw arm to the floor. “So. How was that?” he asked.
One of the scientists looked at a timer and called out, “Sixty-one seconds. Impressive.”
“That’s what she said,” Eric said with a grin as he slid the face mask up to reveal his face.
“Are you ready for round two?” one of the scientists asked.
“I’m going to need a breather. Maybe a glass of water. Took a lot out of me,” Eric replied leaning on his knees.
“You’re used to saying that, right?” the scientist quipped quickly.
Eric smiled and pointed his finger, “Aaaaaaw, good one Doc!”
How did he know?!
