We have faced the ravages of Apocalypse and his horsemen. We've seen darkly mirrored images of ourselves from the World without Xavier. We've lost friends, home and security because of the Purifiers. We've defeated the Skrull invasion and we are all again who we believe ourselves to be.

The rebuilding of the school is nearly complete, and by the beginning of next year, we should be able to move back into the new Xavier School. For now the team remains divided, with a small number in New York City's Worthington Towers, leaving the students and their teachers in the Utopia base hidden in the Savage Land. Between attacks by agents of Weapon X, terrifying anomalies and the innate dangers of both the concrete jungle and the primeval one.

In Mutant Town, X-Corps and X-Investigations work tirelessly to improve the lives of both mutants and humans. Beneath the city, X-Factor and the Morlocks attempt to survive in peace. From the high towers of the Hellfire Club, to the depths of the oceans where the Brotherhood protects the mutant refugees who have fled their homes seeking Sanctuary to the helicarrier bases of SHIELD, problems have arisen for all of our factions, but nothing we can't handle, right?

However, the arrival of a quartet from the future, Franklin and Valeria Richards, Talia Wagner, and most concerning Rachel Summers, spells danger of a nature we can't fathom. What happened to our world that the devastating time they come from was brought into existence? How did mutantkind lose a war we haven't truly fought? What made humanity resort to mass genocide, concentration camps and the reinstitution of the Sentinel program? How do we stop it when none of the time travelers remember what happened, and what made them come to our time?

One cannot break the rules of time and space without suffering the consequences... much less four...
What have they brought with them? What has been lost?
The [REVOLUTION] is coming.

But this time, the villains have the upperhand..

POWERS

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Directional gravity control
Charlavail has the totally mad ability to change the direction in which gravity pulls her. She can turn a flat street or even an up hill into a down hill run; she can walk, run and skate on walls and ceilings or even to fly through the sky towards the horizon. She simply imagines a surface or direction to be down and for her it becomes down. If she wanted, she could stand in the open, fall up into the sky and then heads towards the horizon at terminal velocity. Though Charla skates everywhere, she can use her ability to ride a bike or long board, or even surf on flat water without the need for waves. Since she treats everywhere as downhill, she burns few calories for her actual travels.

Subconsciously, she constantly generates a field that alters the direction of her own gravitational field. This affects her self, clothing and anything she can lift of the ground but can not include part of a solid object. She can choose which item/s she is touching gets affected but can’t affect an item without affecting her self as well. By default, her clothing is always affected. If she stands on a ceiling and holds an object in her open hand, it will just sit there, as soon as the object loses physical contact, it will fall normally. Charlavail can not change the strength of a gravitational field, only the direction she’s pulled. Thus she falls at the same rate as anybody else, just not always down to Earth. So within Earth's gravity field, she still falls at 9.81 meters per second squared / 32.2 foot per second squared. If Charla was not in a gravity field I.E Space, she could not use her ability.

Combined with her skating ability, she can pull any number of tricks in crazy mad ways and also kick you in the noggin with her skates from nearly any direction.

WEAKNESS:
Charlavail’s power has no inherent weaknesses; however her combined fear of heights and open places means she will never use her ability to fly. Only if she has a solid surface under her is she happy (more in personality). While most walls will support her weight, most ceilings are not so designed and she will fall through or at least break something. For the same reason she cant walk on windows either. Against the capabilities of other super humans, she fares as well as a baseline human. In order to take advantage in any physical fight, she uses surprise and agility.

PERSONALITY

To the world at large, Charla puts on a pretty good show of being shallow and flaky. At first glance, she dresses to impress, eager for attentive eyes to be on her but always keeping her distance from anyone who shows too greater interest. It’s obvious she stresses over her looks, a strict diet to balance her needs and keeps her slim while dyed haired counterpoints by a complete lack of makeup or jewellery. She likes to spend money and go shopping but is too picky to actually buy anything. Charla also appears slightly scatterbrained, easily distracted or outright oblivious. But appearances don’t tell the whole story.

Charla has largely been brought up through her teen years by her older brother. His protective nature – Charla would argue over protective – has in no small way led her to be the woman she is today. She has been instilled with a small degree of distrust of people, mostly of boys wanting her attention. For this reason, she has never been in any form of serious or long term relationship and why she is never really open with other people. Those who do earn her trust and get her to be open will find unparallel loyalty. Through and through, she’s a free spirit driven by a wanderlust that leads her to skate every surface possible.

Charla is deeper and brighter than she lets on. This is deliberate as she prefers people to underestimate her. She has found that people let their guard down around her and this is something she can take advantage of. Additionally, a low estimation tends to grant her less responsibility, a bonus for her typical teen attitude mixed with the chance to simply have more time for skating. Her distracted outlook is not her being scatterbrained but actually results from her always looking for trouble to find her as well as any and all skate routes. Her bright playful eyes are always looking to turn anything into fun.

The nickname of Spoilsport was derived from her habit of pointing out all the calories and fat content in the food others eat while she happily munches on sushi and drinks only water or juice. Charla pretends to be a health food freak simply keen on looking pretty, but the fact is that she cares about her health, knows that she uses her power too much and is lazier than she appears. She is smart enough to understand much of food science and plans on one day being a nutritionist or food chemist.

Lastly Charlavail suffers from a form of agoraphobia. Basically for her, she can’t stand freefall when combined with heights for very long before suffering vertigo and nausea. She can handle spinning and twisting in the air while doing tricks happily but there is no way she would go bungee jumping, skydiving or even walking on a rope bridge of a decent height. Heights themselves are fine, she could ride up and down skyscrapers without a tremor but flying in a plane is about the edge of her limit. Subconsciously, it works out to be distance to fall combined with likelihood of falling that sets her off.

She does not chew gum.

HISTORY: PRE-APOCALYPSE

Charlavail Tennekoon and family hail from the poor area of Madripoor city. In a place like that, one either works bloody hard to put food on the table or steals. Dad did the former, Mom mostly the former but sometimes the latter. Young Charla went to school like most good little girls, made friends and did what every kid did. It wasn’t an easy life growing up, but the bonds of this family were tight and that made life good no matter what.

She was six when her Mom brought her home her first pair of skates. Some snob in high town was crying little tears into a silver cup over a lost wallet but Charla was in love with shoes with wheels. More than once, a bigger kid tried to take them from her but her big brother always stepped in to protect her and on the side, she quickly learnt that a kick from a skate worked wonders in personal protection too. It wasn’t much later that she found the greatest pastime in the form of street hockey. Sure fights broke out all the time, often between the haves and the have-nots but that was all part of the fun.

Charla grew up knowing she was going to be someone special. Both of her parents were mutants, her Mom could turn invisible and Dad could fly. When her brother’s mutation finally kicked in and he found he could grow wings and fly, well little Charla got a little jealous and tried to jump start her own power. And the tender age of nine, she dragged her bed mattress outside, climbed onto the roof and decided she could fly, just like Dad and just like her big brother. Well she flew alright, about one meter to the side of the mattress and onto the pavement. She didn’t stop there, the impact with the ground activated her latent ability and she proceeded to fall upwards away from the painful concrete. In panic and pain after falling two stories up, she headed straight back down but towards the mattress this time. When her brother found her ten minutes later, she was clinging to her mattress for dear life with a broken arm and nose.

Charlavail would never use her ability to try flying ever again, she left that for the men of the family but travelling the city island on her skates just got a helluva lot more fun. With plenty of practise and time, Charla soon came to gain some mastery over her power. The hardest part was the transitions between vertical and horizontal surfaces but she found the easiest way was to treat everything as a skate park. Being aggressive and just jumping to it soon became as natural as walking. There were a lot of minor falls and scrapes along the way but wearing protective hockey gear helped.

Summer of 2009 brought a large shock to the family. Charla’s Dad was imprisoned for a crime he was innocent of and forced into slavery. Without his income, life was a lot harder for the family, not to mention Mom losing her Husband. But their small world was headed for greater catastrophe.

DURING APOCALYPSE (April 5th through April 12th, 2009)

Charla’s Dad was caught square in the middle of the slave rebellion. With his Mutant ability, he was at the forefront of the fighting and trying to help other escape. He lost his life though when another mutant in the service of the imperial guard melted his brain in his skull. It was in response to this ludicrous behaviour from the ruling elite that Dragonwing formed up his gang and Charla signed up as soon as she found out about it. They vowed to keep their dangerous activities hidden from their grieving mom; they didn’t want her to worry more than she already did.

Earthquakes sent a rush of tsunamis against the coastline of Madripoor. Many thousands lost their homes and lives. The Tennekoon family were at least fortunate in that they still had a place to live as the flood waters spared their home. Down to three, they did their best to look after one another and fight for a better nation.

POST-APOCALYPSE

Charlavail still attended school, she was eager to learn, a fact she kept hidden after her brother taught her the advantages of being underestimated. Her attendance also served to waylay any suspicion her Mom might have had about her other pastime with her Brother. The Rising Sun gang, when not bust stealing from the rich or trying to undermine them in other ways performed odd jobs for whoever had money to spare. Such work brought contacts, people who could forge documents, hack security or acquire hard to get items. Though Charlavail was devoted to her brother and utterly loyal and supportive, she didn’t like all the unwholesome activities. They never actually argued over it but Charla didn’t always stay quiet and follow her brother’s lead entirely without question. At times she was simply the good conscience sitting on his shoulder, but once a decision was made, she stuck by it and gave her all.

Events of the world rarely reached the eyes and ears of Charla. She didn’t watch TV unless she was stuck indoors due to bad weather and the radio was only ever tuned into music stations. Between school, skating, and the gang, she was fairly well occupied. About the only international events that ever really grabbed her were the various troubles surrounding New York and especially Mutant Town. The majority of people she spent any time with were all mutants, she being second generation and so any news of Mutants had the only chance of getting her attention. As one event followed another, attacks by those calling themselves the Purifiers became attacks by mammoth robots, Charla came to see the Mutant issue as something greater than the impending civil war of her home nation. She was kith and kin, daughter and sister to mutants and so any side she might have chosen was already decided. She argued more with her brother over their stance on mutant rights worldwide and their future than she ever had before.

It was the beginning of 2012, after her final year in high school was done that Charla made up her mind. She decided that she wanted to travel to New York and see first hand the frontline of the Mutant fight. She wanted to understand what her superior brethren had been through and get first hand knowledge on what seemed like a possible war on greater scale than one little island city state. The rumours of a mutant sanctuary had not gone missed either and Charla really just wanted to see the place for her self. The intention was to spend maybe a month or two in New York and Sanctuary and take things from there. She figured she would probably return after her visa ran out and work out her future from there.

A few lies were told to Mom, things like she was visiting prospective colleges and that she was meeting up with an old friend of Dad that had managed to escape the civil troubles of Madripoor. In truth, she was meeting a contact who could get her safe and cheap accommodation within Mutant Town. A fake pass port was quickly obtained, a joint decision between her self and brother, with out the family last name being so open and by May, she was off to America with a few stolen credit cards, some cash, and a bank account that could cover anything needed.

Without much of a realistic idea about how to get to this Sanctuary place she had heard of, she devised the best plan was to let trouble find her and show off her mutant abilities. There were a couple of bumps and close calls but eventually the result of one alley fight brought the right kind of attention her way and she was whisked away under the sea. While New York had left an impression on 19year old Charla and her skates had left many wheel sized impressions on certain New Yorkers, Sanctuary proved to be something out of a dream and she was less certain that she wanted to return home.

SAMPLE RP POST:

Today was Day One of her master plan to get to Sanctuary. A wiser person might have just asked around a little bit but Charlavail had left wisdom at home today. Step one was pull out all the stops and appear ditzy, naive and vulnerable. The far away expression was easy, it came natural. Dressing to set the mood was no more difficult, her eclectic tastes saw fit to dress her in a short dress that revealed a little too much thigh while a fake police hat, sunglasses and her all important inline skates completed the look of too much money and no sense at all. She was the bait and the hook was a fake L.V. handbag that she swung care free in a deliberately loose grip.

Not twenty minutes on the street saw her bag ripped from her hands by some wannabe hoodlum in a leather jacket. He was quick Charlavail admitted to herself as she skated after the guy to see what attention she could reel in. as she expected, he ran into a alley and immediately behind three other bigger guys. All had cocky grins and at least one was twirling a knife under the vague impression that he knew how to use it. One more guy, the biggest yet, entered the alley behind her thinking that they had her trapped.

The leader, well at least the one that spoke for the rest was the first to pipe up. “Aint you a pretty thing. Do you want you little bag back?” At first his tone was sickly sweet but it quickly changed to lurid and throaty. “You’re gonna have to pay for it, pay me an my boys with that hot little body of yours”

This got a chuckle from the others that soon stopped when Charla put up her own cocky grin. “Sorry, no freebies, I don’t play that way”. Before anybody could pick up their fallen faces, Charla was pushing hard into an easy 360 wallride and dropping her heel down on the head of the big gangsta that blocked the alley street side exit. Before his he had even hit pavement, she had switched her gravity and was riding the wall towards the pack. Not many people could perform a bicycle kick properly but Charla cheated. She kicked off the wall and fell on the leader skates first. With the guy represent her down, her booted feet pummelled his chest. As Leader McKnifey fell, she switched again to fall upon a third victim of her eight mad wheels.

The bag grabber seemed to shrink in upon himself in fear while the last guy was at least brave enough and stupid enough to try and hold her of with his own knife. Charla paused in front of this guy for just a moment, “Why do ya even bother?” the question proved to be rhetorical as her foot rose very swiftly and hard in to his crotch.

That was enough for the grabber as he dropped the stolen handbag and ran for his life screaming “Fucking Muties!”

With four douche bags writing on the ground and no sign of any magic quest arrows signalling Sanctuary, Charla looted the gansters and came up with a total of seven wallets which were well received by Mr. L.V Handbag. “Meh, you guys were full of suck today, better luck next time aye”. She whistled badly as she skated from the alley and off to lunch.

Heya Jeremy, thanks for applying to XMR!

Mostly I'm pretty impressed with how well you've done on fleshing out such an obscure canon. I know you plan to work on it, but remember Other is pretty hard and a little harder within Sanctuary, so if you wish to advance Spoilsport's situation, remember to not be afraid about asking us to help you.

I only have a couple of minor power related points:

1. Does she move at the speed of an average human when using her powers, or can she move faster?

2. In the weaknesses, could you extend it to state how she fares against other mutants, such as psychics, ferals, etc/etc and attacks such as energy based ones.

When you've done that, please just post to let me know and you can get in touch at any point to ask questions. Thanks.

I have added a couple lines at the end of the second paragraph of the power section, hopefully, I have not made things too complicated.

Also added to weaknesses. I am happy to have impressed even a teeny bit.

Thanks for adding that in quickly; it gives us a clearer picture.

I am good on this app now, but another mod might have more to say.
