Fifteen years ago, in response to the growing numbers of mutants in the world, Professor Charles Xavier began to realize that the world stood at a crossroads. With the powers of Gods, young mutants could become the saviors of the world... or its destruction. Transforming his family's ancestral manor into a school, Xavier's first six students learned how to not only control their powers, but also how to use them to defend those in need from any who would use their abilities for evil. Scott "Cyclops" Summers, Warren "Angel" Worthington, Jean "Marvel Girl" Grey, Jonathan "Volt" Harper, Hank "Beast" McCoy and Mina "Flux" Burton became more than a collection of untrained, uncertain, often unwanted teenagers beneath Xavier's tutelage.
They became THE X-MEN.
They defended a world that feared and hated them, and developed into a family, a team, strong and brave, risking their lives so that others didn't have to. As they grew up and graduated, Xavier gathered other young people, to continue his dream of mutant harmony. Some of the original X-Men drifted into other fields, politics, business. Jonathan and Mina married, and had a child, before he tragically died of cancer. The school soon housed nearly a hundred students of all ages and backgrounds, all powers and power levels.
The world was changing though, and soon opposing factions rose. Erik Lehnsherr, the self proclaimed "Master of Magentism," who had survived oppression and genocide, saw that humanity was not as accepting of mutantkind as his once-friend Charles Xavier had hoped. Lehnsherr had no intention on allowing his people to fall beneath the bigotry that humanity is so known for. Renaming himself Magneto, he gathered those who were willing to do what was necessary to save the "evolved." Raven "Mystique" Darkholme, Nicholas "Noxious" McGrath, Victor "Sabretooth" Creed, Jara "Balam" Montenegro and eventually Alex "Havok" Summers, and Magneto's own twin children Pietro and Wanda Maximoff, "Quicksilver" and "The Scarlet Witch" were amongst those called to defend their kind against the machinations of the still dominant human 'menace.'
Magneto named them THE BROTHERHOOD
And, yet, these were not the only forces that were rising to deal with this evolving world. In Connecticut, Alexander Bennett, Mayor of Stafford, has been using his hidden mutant abilities to advance the FRIENDS OF HUMANITY from a small gathering of narrow minded bigots into a persuasive and pervasive political force. All over the world, factions of the infamous HELLFIRE CLUB have been growing, the Black Court of the New York branch lead by Max "The Shroud" Coleridge, rising to prominence.
And, then, the first blow in the war was stuck, subtle and swift.
Charles Xavier vanished.
In the aftermath, Mina Harper took over as headmistress of the school, keeping it together. The rest of the X-Men scattered to the winds, to deal with the loss. Times were hard, the situation dire, the future uncertain.
But Xavier's Dream was not so easily abandoned.
About two years have passed since the Professor's disappearance. The original X-Men have returned to the School, and the team, again lead by Scott Summers have taken its place as the defenders of a world that hates and fears them. With the help of new allies in X-FACTOR and amongst the MORLOCKS, they are the only ones who can stop the coming Mutant/Human War.
Which side are you on?
Major Events:
In October the Brotherhood, lead by Mystique, attacked the FOH HQ, destroying it. During the battle, Cyclops was captured and subsequently tortured, leaving him using a cane. Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch left the Brotherhood, which was then destroyed by Marvel Girl searching for her missing leader and lover. Abandoned by Magneto, the Brotherhood has fallen apart, Mystique moving to join the Hellfire Club as their Black Queen.
Life continues in the school. Scott and Jean are newlyweds, and plans are being made for their upcoming adoption of Rosie Johannson, with the help of Warren's lawyers. Several students have joined X-Factor. New students arrive on a regular basis.
From the ruins of the FOH, Bennett has been working within his means to fuel human paranoia. Anti-Mutant Hate Crimes are on the rise with Havok's newly formed X-Factor struggling to defend the citizens of Mutant Town. Rumors of the Sentinels have begun to surface.
The War is about to begin.

While de-aged, the X-Men and X-Factor faced two very important threats.
The first came as Magneto, notified about his children's de-aging by the former X-Factor now turned Brotherhood member Remy "Gambit" LeBeau, came to claim Pietro and Wanda. Protected by their X-Factor caretakers, the children were being taken to the Xavier School via the Van Wyck Expressway when their father attacked. Though 67 people were killed, many more would have died if X-Factor had not worked together as a team.
The second threat happened as the result of untrained William "Wiccan" Kaplan's attempt to quench a fire, and instead flooding most of Lower Manhattan. Unable to fall back on the de-aged X-Men, a team was cobbled together from the older students and several younger kids who had been aged under the same strange circumstances. Though several morlocks were lost in the flooding, the newly formed X-Men team with the help of even some of the elusive Hellfire Club members rescued all they could.
After about five days, the strange event was reversed and everyone returned to their normal ages, never knowing what caused it. Unbeknownst to all, high above the earth, the Silver Surfer has been watching things unfold. Having caused the problem when his Power Cosmic interacted badly with the Van Allen Belt, the courage and devotion of the affected to each other convinced the Surfer that this was a world worth sparing, and he lead his master, Galactus the World Destroyer elsewhere for his feeding.
After this bit of oddness, X-Factor set off to vacation on the Island of Krakoa, bringing along Avery "Loosestrife" Doyle for some fun time with her boyfriend, Quicksilver. The vacation quickly turned into a disaster as the island revealed itself to be alive and sentient. Attacking X-Factor with hallucinations and all its parts-- animal, vegetable, mineral, water, and wind, the island quickly begins to capture the X-Factorites. After Avery discovers what is happening, the team fight to free themselves and their friends, before managing to destroy the island and escape. A high price was paid, however, as Alex "Havok" Summers and Lorna "Polaris" Dane, are lost, and presumed dead.
Not knowing about the danger X-Factor is in, the X-Men travels to Afghanistan to get information on and possible recruit a sand manipulating girl named Sooraya "Dust" Qadir. After defeating Magneto and the more violent members of his Brotherhood who had the same idea for the girl, the X-Men manage to convince her to return with them, though there were injuries.
Several weeks later, an arrangement between the Hellfire Club and the Brotherhood leaves the island of community of Wolf's Head slaughtered, and the X-Factor member known only as Alix kidnapped. Eventually, Alix is exchanged to the HFC for Mystique by the new Black Queen, as the shapeshifter is implicated in the disappearance of the Black King Max "The Shroud" Coleridge and the X-Factorite is a telepath who might be able to find him.
As for the younger members of the Xavier School, what should have been a fun concert takes a darker turn as several of them are exposed to the highly addictive power enhancer known as KICK.
In Early November, several members of the X-Men take a trip to the Savage Land on a rare scientific mission to explore the undiscovered area, and salvage the personal plane that Scott and Jean abandoned when they stumbled upon the secret primeval jungle over a year ago. What they find there is not what they expected. Alex Summers and Lorna Dane alive! With their identities erased by their stepping through the Siege Perilous, they've been living for two months in the wilds of the Savage Land, defending the weaker denizens of this place from the energy sucking powers of the menacing Sauron... a monster they themselves accidentally created.

December opened with the kidnapping and torture of X-Factor Member Jet Black, and X-Man Warren Worthington at the hands of Scrambler and several Marauders as revenge for their fathers' involvement in the public humiliation and destruction of his family. Drowned, Jet was brought back to life by Wanda Maximoff, but there was nothing to be done to save Warren's wings. Both victims of the Scrambler were left without their powers, and the high flying Angel was grounded.
In the Hellfire Club, the Shroud was freed from possession by the Shadow King, new knowledge of the coming of something dark and sinister, something that might spell the end of the world.
As the new year came, more trouble came to the school, as several students were revealed to be addicted to the power enhancing drug KICK. X-Corp was tasked to set up a rehab facility for them.
Box and Beast were lured away from their respective teams and transformed by a mysterious stone scribe called Ozymandius, the servant of a god he calls the First One. No one knows they have been taken. No one knows what they've become.
The Hellfire Club, lead by the obsessed Shroud, launch an attack on the Brotherhood in search of an alliance to survive the coming Apocalypse.
At the school, covert machinations were in the works, as Mr. Milbury, the disguised Sinister, came into contact with Jono Starsmore and the dark passenger that rides within his soul, prepping him for what...?
February 3rd brought tragedy unexpected and unfathomable. Warren Kenneth Worthington the Third was killed in a plane crash.

The Shroud, alerted to what was about to happen by his former contact with the Shadow King, calls a summit between the Hellfire Club and the Brotherhood to talk about the coming of this Apocalypse, but they are too late to stop the capture of the four who would be his Horsemen. Though a truce has been called between all the factions in the name of saving the world, no one was truly prepared for the brutality of what would be.
Chamber, Jono Starsmore, has become Famine, and unleashed an unholy starvation of body, mind and soul upon America's heartland, in telepathic, life leeching darkness.
A former nurse, Amelia Voght, Acolyte of Magneto, has been corrupted and infected to become the lady of ills, Pestilence, wiping out tens of thousands in Pakistan and causing diseases of the body and the brain to all she touch.
The leader of X-Factor and the younger brother of Scott Summers, Havok has been transformed into the cruel and angry War, gathering an army of the powerful as he marched down the Eastern Seaboard from Mutant Town to DC. Stopped by the magnetic pulse of his former lover, Polaris, War defected, and fled broken and torn between what is now is, and who he once was, to the Xavier School to save the life he had almost taken.
Warren Worthington, now the razor winged avatar of Death, has decimated Paris and worked his way into London, slaughtering all in his path, including Jamie Braddock, Calvin Rankin and the young X-Man Ashan Milano-Firth aka Ricochet. A combination of mental manipulation and strategic team work took him down finally, but not after two great cities were turned to mass graves.
And, though the four battles seem to be over, the Horsemen not capture having been called home to their Master, this war is not over. Apocalypse has used the Eye of Horus to start a strange impossible geological disaster, slowly expanding the core of the earth.
The exhausted and battered teams have limped to the school for healing and a moment's rest, and though many have been injured, there has been some triumphs. The Horsemen of War and Death are captured and depowered in the Danger Room, and Hank and Box have been freed from their imprisonment, revealing that the Dark Beast who had helped to build the Horsemen was a clone, not the real Henry McCoy at all.
Now, as the children and the injured are evacuating to a secure location, the co-mingled teams know they are poised on a razorblade.
The end of the world is here.
On April 11th, Apocalypse will end the world.
