CLOTHING STYLE: Khalid tends to dress more urban but with style as he states it. He also tends to wear jewelry such as necklaces, earrings, rings and watches. His clothing but must modified to allow his tail to safely go through it and also give him enough room to armor himself with his black exoskeleton without ripping his clothing.
UNIFORM: Khalid’s uniform is designed just like any uniform except with a hole for his tail to go through and molecularly modified so that his exoskeleton can grow directly over the uniform and be fully protected.
POWERSGENERAL DESCRIPTION:Khalid’s mutant abilities developed late in his teens so he is new to the whole mutant scene and doesn’t quite understand what it means to be a mutant or of his mutation.
Khalid possesses a mutation that gave him traits and abilities associated with scorpions. One of the main traits of his mutation is the 5 and a half foot long tail growing from his tailbone. This tail is structured similarly to a scorpion’s tail but at the same time it’s different. The tail has a natural curve towards Khalid but is in actuality quite flexible as it is capable of extending fully and has a full degree of motion. Unlike with some of his other abilities, Khalid’s tail is a permanent feature of his body meaning that he can’t retract it or remove it easily, if he did it would be like cutting off one of his legs or an arm as it is a natural appendix of his body. The tail possesses a strong black exoskeleton-like armor covering it and at the end of the tail is a retractable stinger. His whole muscular system is more enhanced than a human’s giving him greater strength. He is capable of pressing or lifting a maximum of 1 ton, giving him a strong scorpion-like grip, but the muscles in his tail are much stronger as they are capable of lifting up to 3 tons and the tail can demonstrate short bursts of speed reaching about 50 mph which gives him quick tail strikes.
Khalid also possesses a black exoskeleton which enshrouds his entire body and can be retracted and summoned whenever he wants. This exoskeleton acts like armor to Khalid’s body as when he is wearing this armor he gains superhuman durability since it is strong and hard enough to resist knife attacks and prevent bullets from penetrating his armor. The armor grows differently around certain body parts such as his hands and feet as they sharpen to a point on his fingers and toes thus forming claws. On his face a thin layer of his armor covers the areas around his eyes which appears darker and giving the appearance of huge dark eyes. Another thin armored layer covers his mouth making it appear like a mask on his face. He constantly joins and retracts the mouth part of his exoskeleton so that he can talk and eat freely when in this armored form. When he is wearing his exoskeleton, he can do other things that come from having his exoskeleton. Due to the coloring of his exoskeleton, Scorpio can blend into the darkness as black is not a color seen easily. Since the armor forms claws on his hands and feet, he can use them to dig into the walls of his surroundings and crawl along them.
When a person thinks of a scorpion, the first thing they think of is its venom and just like a scorpion Khalid can produce his own but a bit different than how it is utilized by regular scorpions. Khalid possesses venom producing glands within his tail and he can secrete this venom by injecting it directly into a substance or spray it towards a target. Unlike a normal scorpion’s venom which acts like a strong neurotoxin, Khalid’s venom is more like an acid which can corrode and burn through most non-organic material. When injected into the body of a living organism, the acid reacts a bit slower than with other material. The acid can burn the flesh giving a very painful sensation but it can take a while for the acid to fully burn the flesh of the injected area so there is the chance of expelling or negating the acid before actual damage is caused.
WEAKNESS: Khalid is still new at his powers so he still isn’t used to having a huge tail on his behind or being able to form an armored exoskeleton and remove it. He has trouble maneuvering his tail and really utilizing it well and there are times when he has trouble forming his exoskeleton or removing it when it’s already on. He’s also still not completely used to his whole enhanced strength thing and sometimes uses too much unneeded strength on simple matters like opening doors. He still needs work controlling his acid secretion since there are times when he accidentally secretes acid from his stinger without realizing it.
His exoskeleton armor is durable enough to wistand great impact from bullets and some punches but it can still be broken if enough pressure is applied onto his body. The armor cloaks his body so if his exoskeleton armor were crushed, the plates and skeletal fragments of the armor would press against Khalid’s body and dig and rip into his skin. While it’s true that his armor also grants him some protection against the elements or some temperatures, he can still be harmed. He could safely walk through a fire for a short while but then the heat would get to him and he would start boiling inside his shell and should he remove it, he would be completely exposed. Since he still hasn’t gotten full control over his powers, there are times when his exoskeletal armor doesn’t form when he wants it and his body is completely exposed to any danger around him. His armor is what grants him his durability, his flesh is the same as a human’s.
Scorpio’s acidic venom is also harmful to his own flesh so he must be careful not to get any on his own skin or else the effects of the acid will occur on him. Like most venoms, an anti-venom can be created if a sample of his venom is taken.
PERSONALITYA friend of Khalid once said, “Khalid is a good guy, just don’t piss him off”, that statement is very much true. Khalid is a good guy that helps out his friends in need of help no matter if he has to risk his life to do so. There are times when it can seem that Khalid is the kindest person in the world but there are other times when he can seem quite cold. This is due to some of his unique perceptions of the world. Khalid is a person who sees respect as something very important so he is very focused on that and he hates it when he or others don’t receive it when they should. Khalid also has something of a temper and has a lot of anger inside of him. This anger often appears as an aggressive attitude. He is often too quick to fight and doesn’t really let people get in his way.
Ever since his mutation manifested, there have been certain traits about Khalid that are very scorpion-like and he is confused about these newfound traits. Scorpion’s are predators by nature and there are some of these predatory traits which appear within Khalid’s person. He has gotten a strange craving of meat and an urge to hunt. He doesn’t understand these newfound emotions but they confuse the hell out of him. Khalid also often has the urge to attack and strike someone down by either crushing or ripping them apart or injecting them with his acidic venom. This makes Khalid a very aggressive fighter in combat since he doesn’t stop until the opponent is defeated and even then he has urges to kill. These urges cause conflict within Khalid since he is often controlled by his scorpion nature. This nature is also one of the roots to Khalid’s anger.
Khalid is often very confused about his mutation and isn’t having an easy time coping with his changes to his body or personality. He still doesn’t really know much about mutants so he is confused as to what the meaning of being a mutant means. Khalid is also quite angry towards all the hate and bigotry directed towards him now that he is a mutant and often releases his anger towards those who disrespect and mock him. Khalid has something of a dislike of his mutation since it had a permanent physical manifestation but he wants to learn to control it and learn to live as he is now. He likes the idea of mutants and is proud of the fact that he is a mutant but he wishes his mutation could’ve been different.
Since Khalid was born and raised in America, he didn’t get too much exposure to his culture until he actually went to Sudan. Since that time he has fully accepted and adopted many aspects of that culture into his own. He has really tried to learn more of his culture and as such has learned Arabic from living and speaking to people in Sudan and his own studies. A lot of Sudanese culture is a based on the religion so Khalid has already started adopting Islam into his being and is starting to lean more towards being Muslim but he is not a religious nut about it.
HISTORY An American woman of Sudanese descent went on a trip to Sudan and fell in love with a Sudanese soldier. They got married and the woman was impregnated with the soldier’s child. Here came the problem as the Sudanese Civil War was going on and the soldier was ordered to fight. He told his wife to leave Sudan since he didn’t want her to give birth and raise their child in such a hard environment. She reluctantly agreed and left for the United States where she gave birth to a boy in her hometown of San Antonio, Texas. This child was named Khalid Tariq Aziz Al-Fashir.
His mother raised him to be a normal child though she had to do it as a single mother. It was a bit difficult but she managed. When a young Khalid would ask about his father she would tell him the truth and would always tell him that he will meet his father one day. Khalid grew to look forward to see his father and saw him as a hero. While his mother told Khalid he was Sudanese, he was never really exposed to much of the culture since she herself wasn’t taught much about it in her youth except for a few Arabic phrases and stories of her ancestors. He grew up like most American children and had many friends and often played sports. What set Khalid apart was his natural athletic talent which people tried to mold for him to be a superstar.
Khalid grew to be a great athlete and played American Football and Basketball. In middle school he led his teams to district championships and in high school he led the teams to become powerhouses and be tough opponents in the playoffs. Khalid was really good since he mostly trained his body and skills to be a better player. It was told that maybe one day he would end up joining the NFL or the NBA if he continued to lead and improve on his skills. When he was 16 years old his family received a call from his father asking them to travel to Sudan and live with him for a while since the war was over. Khalid often spoke with his dad on the phone but this was the first time he would actually meet him and he was excited.
They traveled to Sudan and had a heartwarming meeting with his father. They were to live in Sudan for a year since his father had time and Khalid was to learn of his culture by experiencing it first hand and going to school there. Khalid learned Arabic in this time and learned of his heritage and customs. He grew to love Sudan and its people and began adopting customs and Sudanese traits to his person and now fully understood what it meant to be Sudanese. He formed a great bond with his father and learned a lot but he had to leave Sudan because his life was in America. He wanted his father to come with them but his couldn’t since he was still part of the military and conflicts were rising all over Sudan. Khalid and his mother left and returned to San Antonio where Khalid was going to finish high school.
Life returned to normal and everything was back as it was except for Khalid who had just found himself in Sudan. He returned to play sports and became captain of both teams. He was still concentrating on sports but now was trying to practice and become fluent in Arabic as well as learning more of his father’s religion. As school went on eventually Khalid received many college scholarship offers from all over the country. It took both he and his mother to decide what offer to accept and he ended up accepting a football scholarship from Syracuse University. Khalid’s school went on to win the state championship and he graduated normally. Some time after his 18th birthday his life changed forever.
It was a few weeks after he had graduated and Khalid started getting pains on his tailbone. As an athlete on a scholarship, Khalid went to get it checked out and learned there was a strange growth there. This scared Khalid and the doctors suggested getting tests and Khalid agreed. A few days past and finally Khalid received a call from the doctor telling him that he was a mutant. He couldn’t believe it and didn’t want to believe it so he believed the tests were wrong. That very night Khalid had unbearable pain on his tailbone and all over his body. The pain was so much that he went unconscious from the pain. When he awoke, Khalid instantly knew something was wrong. He had a black plated tail with a stinger and a black exoskeletal armor covering his entire body. He looked into the mirror and saw what looked to be a humanoid scorpion. He couldn’t believe it, he was a mutant. His mother found him in his room and was completely shocked and scared by what she saw. It took time for his mother to accept the fact that Khalid was a mutant and it took Khalid even longer.
He would wake up and find himself covered in the black exoskeleton and found difficulty maneuvering his tail. He wasn’t coping very well. He would often destroy glasses, tables, chairs and doors because of his newfound strength. It was difficult to sit down and he had other problems. His mother was very supportive of his mutation and often encouraged him to practice with his powers to learn to control them; she didn’t know where this notion would lead. Khalid learned he could secrete an acidic venom from his tail and tried to practice with it. He still didn’t know how to control it and accidentally sprayed some on his mother’s skin. She cried in pain and Khalid rushed her to the hospital. She was admitted and treated but Khalid was not allowed to see her, his mutation was seen as dangerous and fearsome. An angry Khalid was forced to go home after a brief conflict between him and the doctors.
Khalid found out the flesh of her hand had burned away and part of her face was burned. He felt horrible and to blame for what he had done to his mother and even though she told him it wasn’t his fault, he knew it was his fault. Eventually time to move into his dorm came and Khalid traveled to New York ignorantly without considering how a mutant was treated. He was often despised and subject to hatred on the way and he was finally understanding the life of a mutant in the world. When Khalid arrived on campus and it was obvious he was a mutant the school made up a big deal of it and made up something to get Khalid kicked out making him lose his scholarship. Khalid’s dreams were shattered and now he didn’t know what to do. He called his mother to explain the situation and learned that their home had been burned down. Khalid was too far away to do anything about it so his mother decided to leave the city and start a new life in New York. They heard of a section of New York City where mutants were accepted so they could start their life anew.
In Mutant Town Khalid found a job as a waiter where he worked and tried to figure out what to do with his life now that everything he had done was ruined.
DURING APOCALYPSE: Khalid was living with his mother in Mutant Town when War arrived to destroy the town and transform many of its inhabitants. Seeing the danger, Khalid tried to hide with his mother from the destruction and the changed people but they were found and Khalid was forced to fight in order to protect his mother. The battle between himself and the other mutant was a bit destructive and along with the chaos occurring in the streets it caused the building to come crashing down. Khalid’s exoskeletal armor protected Khalid, though he was still injured, but his mother and the other mutant weren’t so lucky. He was rendered unconscious and when he awoke found Mutant Town to be destroyed as well as his mother’s dead body within the rubble.
There weren’t too many people that survived the atrocity but within the thin number of survivors there were a couple of healers which helped Khalid heal from his injuries. He grieved the death of his mother and the many lives taken in the War attack but felt angry with himself that his powers allowed him to survive but did not do anything to help his mother. Khalid stayed in the ruined Mutant Town with a handful of survivors and tried to live through the day during which he mourned the death of his mother. After weeks of moping around and feeling sorry for himself, Khalid managed to push the guilt and sorrow within himself but it ended up turning into anger. Khalid wanted nothing more than to get revenge on Apocalypse for what he had done but before Khalid could really act, the Egyptian mutant was defeated.
In the coming weeks after the defeat of Apocalypse, Khalid experienced much discrimination and hatred against his person due to all that had happened which made it hard for someone like Khalid to help out in the reconstruction of the world since the humans would often put him down. Once the reconstruction was completed and Khalid managed to move in, life was pretty difficult due to all the human hatred and discrimination. He heard that Xavier’s was accepting mutants and it was also a school to help young mutants so Khalid called in and got accepted to Xavier’s so that he would learn exactly what it meant to be a mutant and to find some control over his life which included his powers.
SAMPLE RP POST:He didn’t know if there was a ever a day in this city where he didn’t hear the constant barking of dogs or the sirens of the cops or of the sound of the street burning. Wait. What?! The blinds were opened in order to see what the commotion was outside and all he saw was a horde of mutants tearing up the town. Fire blazed. Powers activated. People died. The yellow-orange light shone upon his face as the horrors of what was to come appeared down below.
This was bad. People were dying and Khalid did not know why. He clenched his fist and almost as if he had pushed a trigger a black plated exoskeleton began to cover his skin like armor until his entire body was covered. The wife beater he wore suddenly ripped due to the increase of size of the exoskeleton and he tore it off his torso onto the ground. His long and plated tail curled up towards Khalid’s body and a stinger appeared from the tip. This scorpion was prepared if they ever decided to head towards his home.
They did.
“Khalid? What’s going on son? Why are you armored at this hour? Did you wake up with it on again?”
His mother had awoken, possibly from the sound of destruction outside. He looked upon her with sadness as he stared at the bandages around her face and her hand which he had caused. Why did he have to be a mutant? Why did he have to have a five and a half foot long scorpion tail that can shoot acid? Why him? His life was going good until his tail started growing and the doctor dropped the mutant bomb on him. Luckily his armor covered his eyes too so his mother couldn’t see his expression.
“Khalid?”
A sound of screams and a large explosion managed to reach their apartment and now she was scared.
“Get back in your room mom. Something crazy’s going on outside and you can’t protect yourself. Don’t worry, I’ll protect you”
A clatter of steps was heard louder and louder.
“What do you mean? Why do I need protection?”
“Mom please, they’re coming.”
“Who’s coming?”
“STOP TALKING AND GET IN THE DAMN ROOM ALREADY!”
Then, the door exploded.
Pieces of the door suddenly blew in all directions followed by an extreme wave of heat. The scorpion mutant jumped out and protected his mother from the blast with his body aware his armor would keep him safe. He turned to see who this intruder was and saw a single man standing there but he was nothing like a man he had seen. Even in the world of mutants he was too weird. His skin was like charcoal with glowy veins popping out of everywhere and creepy shining eyes. His hands had what looked life balls of fire and he approached Khalid and his mother.
Oh hell no.
Khalid pushed his mother into the next room and got into a fighting stance he knew from instinct. Strangely all these new instincts began appearing into his head. Kill. Kill. Kill this bastard.
“Tested. You need to be tested to see if you are fit to serve our lord,” the strange mutant told his scorpion-like foe.
He gritted his teeth and the voice telling him to strike started getting louder.
“<Shut up and die!>” his Arabic voice yelled to the intruder through the exoskeletal mask on his face as he charged towards him.
Khalid lunged and grabbed hold of the man. His arms wrapped around the man’s body as he started applying strength and pressure. This hold was to crush the man using his enhanced strength and mirrored that of a scorpion’s pincer grip. Something was happening though and the man started getting hotter though Khalid didn’t initially feel it through his exoskeleton. Flames erupted from the man’s flesh and burst out a wave of heat that knocked Khalid through the wall into the next room.
Khalid’s body ached from the impact and he struggled to get up. He saw the man walking towards him and pointed his hand at his person as a flame was being produced. He was not going to sit by and let this guy char him! Khalid’s tail suddenly shot out and knocked down one of the man’s legs causing him to fall. Using his muscles, Khalid jumped up from the ground and targeted the man. Kill. Kill. Kill.
The tail shot out with lightning fast speed and the stinger dug deep into the man flesh as he began to inject his acidic venom into his body. Normally a person would be screaming in pain but this man was not. He rarely even showed much emotion as a flame burst shot out and surrounded Khalid’s body. Stuff was being burned now as the flames expanded to the rest of the apartment.
“You bastard!”
The heat was starting to transfer into his armor and it was getting really hot.
Crap! I’m going to boiled alive! The ground suddenly started rumbling and a light from outside started to get brighter. A large BOOM sent shockwaves towards his floor and the next thing he knew the whole ceiling was starting to crumble. His attention turned to his mother who would be crushed and killed if the walls caved in since unlike him she had no protection. He ran through the hot flames towards his mothers room hoping to protect her but the whole building collapsed before he reached her. Yes, it freaking collapsed!
hours laterKhalid awoke with his body full of pain. Part of his armor had been shattered and his flesh was bruised and bloody. He felt the ruble on top of him but he didn’t have the energy or will to lift it off of him. His eyes adjusted to the incoming light and he could see smoke and ash all over the place. The smell of the dead was in the air and Khalid started looking around. Rubble. Dead bodies. Destruction. A dead woman. Wait. He focused in on the body and suddenly was in shock. He new the person’s identity. His mother. Her face was cut up and bloody as pieces of metal were ensnared into her flesh. She was dead. There was no question about it.
It happened again, he failed to protect his mother and now she paid the ultimate price. Tears rolled down his cheek as he began to realize the reality of the situation. His mother was dead and was not coming back.
