The world has been scorched by Phoenix Fire, and the future that had been threatened has been saved.

But most importantly, we've survived... though not all of us intact. Some have been made less, others have been given more than they can handle, loved ones have been lost, new relationships have been forged... All of us struggling to find our place again in the world post Doom's Illuminati.

The rebuilt School for Gifted Youngsters welcomes back its founder. Charles Xavier, lost for eight years, has returned, unable to relate what had happened to him, but eager to continue his campaign for mutant/human co-existence, especially now. Scott Summers, too, has been returned from his simulated death and corruption by the Dark Beast's manipulations, but his experiences have scarred him, his normal stoicism broken and fragile. As the school begins again in the relative calm after the events of last year, Scott and Jean, now the solo possessor of the Phoenix Force, withdraw from authority, hoping a hiatus will allow them time to recoup.

Students continue to pour into the school, and the Legacy Squad, under Rachel Summers's guidance begins a friendly competition, dividing into two teams in the spirit of challenge and improvement. New students of a different sort have begun to attend the school, Namor, given diplomatic immunities after his true purpose in the Villains' Illuminati was revealed, has brought Atlantean mutants to our doors, giving our already motley crew an entirely new dimension.

In Mutant Town, X-Factor Investigations and Horizon Labs have come together to study the Tabula Rasa that Spiral had created with her Phoenix powers. Beneath the city, X-Factor has taken in the refugees displaced by the creation of the evolutionary anomaly, all the while continuing their quest to help those who need redemption find it, and remaining a family. Alex and Lorna's son Nate is a year old now, and Alex is considering sending the Moloid children off to the school.

Shield, under Director Fury's watchful, and singular, eye, continues to labor to keep the city intact, forming a new group of super powered agents, many of whom who have been on both sides of the law, dubbing them the Defenders, even as Gambit gathers the criminal element and takes charge of a new branch of the Thieves' Guild. The Hellfire Club, scattered after their defection from the service of the Illuminati, has broken into three distinct courts, Psylocke's White, Sage's Black and the Shroud's Red. The Queens rebuild their building, their rule, and their reputation, while Max Coleridge feverishly leads his small group of devotees on a quest for lost power items.

Beneath the sea, Exodus recovers in Sanctuary, and new Acolytes take the reins of the Brotherhood. Bruised from the attacks of the Phoenix-ified Vulcan, the Brotherhood will soon learn that the man who had worn Magneto's helmet had been a fraud. But where is Magneto, the real Magneto?

Life is not perfect. Most of us don't know if we'll see tomorrow... Many of us would rather they didn't, but we will survive. From school outings, to Singularity Investigations, to a series of mysterious attacks by a group of strangely familiar young X-Men from the future, life hasn't settled down since Doom was shunted off to another dimension bringing his Phoenix powered Illuminati to a crashing destruction. Only now, our present struggles to be the future without destroying the past have taken a less world shaking turn, sending the inhabitants of the 740 universe into a scatter of activity and adventure.

Make no mistake, the [REVOLUTION] is still coming.

What will it bring us when it does?

Derek joked when Kitty suggested heading over to find the other group that talking to them with the use of Cypher was not the only way to communicate with people who you don't share the same language with, as he went on to mock a few different fighting maneuvers and explaining their cultural significance and meaning. “Oh yea, When Cyclops sent us off to handle the natives, I don't think he meant handle them as in the old fashion mafia sense of the word handle them.” Kitty said with a chuckle before adding. “But that is a very good plan B.”

Derek then soon added that he thought Rahne's group was collecting the animal information and was down for going to meet up with them, But his attention was stolen by a tree with some tribal markings on it. Adding that it was most likely used to mark territory between the native tribes of the Savage Land, Noting that the strange girl already found had to have gotten her weaponry from somewhere making sure to inform Kitty to keep an eye open for anything out of the ordinary. However once again it wasn't long until something out of the ordinary happened, the ground started to shake and quake beneath their feet.

“Uh this might be a good time for a plan C, Do we have a plan C?” Kitty asked in a rushed voice as she spoke to Derek as the quaking was getting more and more violent and trees were starting to fall over and loud rustling was heard following it. “Somethings coming, Definitely Plan C time, Might be a good time to run...” Kitty trailed off as she quickly looked back up into the sky to see if she saw which way it was Kevin was heading. “Give me your hand stay close... I can phase us through some stuff but its hard to run, phase and breathe at the same time. We're following Kevin, We cant lose him” Kitty pointed up as the pounding of the impending Stampede grew closer.

He was glad to see that he wasn't the only one not letting the dire situation completely bog them down as he nodded to Kitty. "Plan B it is, then." he winked. Hopefully Plan A wi- huh?"

That was when the ground began to shake. There was a rumbling in the distance that sounded like it was closing in on them, causing him to stumble a bit to regain his footing as his hand shot back to the tree to support him.

In spite of that new change in the environment and his mind racing for a million ideas as to what could be the source, his face held a veneer of complete calm mingling with annoyance as he looked ahead, then back at Kitty. It was a look that stated silently and plainly "Oh great, now what?"

"Ya know, I kept tellin' Pete to lay off the meatloaf..."

Of course, he already knew there was no way a rumbling like this could be caused by a single Gargantuan, so when Kitty began shouting back to him, he grabbed her hand and gritted his teeth as the front-runners of what he could only identify as a prehistoric stampede began to race past the two X-Men.

"Haul ass..." he nodded, knowingly. "Haul ass sounds like a GREAT Plan C!" He yelled as he kept his pace with Kitty. He felt a bit tingly as a few more dinos began to charge past and right through the pair as they dashed. He stumbled a few times, but he also remembered somewhere that whenever Kitty phased someone they couldn't get loose, so that was a plus. Now he just had to hope he wouldn't lose his footing when they weren't phased. He took pride in his indestructibility, but today, he didn't really feel like testing whether or not he could survive getting stomped by a full-grown brachiosaur.

The dull pain between Danielle's temples lessened the farther Kevin flew, conversely, her worry for the boy only deepened. In the matter of seconds, she went from knowing next to nothing about him, to probably understanding him better than he'd like. Admittedly, all she witnessed were snapshots and small tidbits, but it was enough to piece together a general overview. The constant hunger he felt, and the resulting fear of his monstrous potential…it was enough to make any person cranky, she supposed. For the briefest of moments, Dani felt it as he did, in real-time and she was able to empathize. The flavor of it was beyond simple feral instinct, and unlike anything she felt even in Rahne's wildest moments. Its undertones were almost siniter.

Gathering her things, Dani lowered her center of gravity and followed Rahne in her downward slide into the valley. Concern was etched on her face as she began documenting the environment, but she didn't vocally express the small exchange she shared with Kevin. She wasn't supposed to know in any case, so talking about it would be disrespectful in a sense. Her previous enjoyment of their excursion, however, waned somewhat as she strolled along the riverbank, marking her complicated maps in red.

Despite her preoccupation, Danielle wasn't so distracted as to miss her surroundings. The tension in the air was as thick as the ever-present humidity, and difficult to miss as a result. To one with the illusionist's senses, it was almost stifling. None of the animals felt like discussing it, however, and her efforts to communicate were rebuffed and greeted by irritated confusion. "I know, I can feel it." She replied to Rahne, as she neared a young dinosaur currently enjoying a long drink. Younger animals were always more receptive in Danielle's experience, so she stretch out a hand as it looked up at her quizzically, its long bill dripping slightly. "Mind if I have a look see?" She asked it rhetorically.

"Dani…we need to run, now." The baby dino darted away in fright just as Dani's outstretched hand was yanked away by Rahne. For a moment she thought the limb might pop out of its socket as she was dragged toward the treeline. Having been focused on interrogating the lizard, Danielle missed the incident that sparked pandemonium, and supposed the unknown animal in the sky (i.e. Kevin) would be frightening for these dinosaurs. But surely, she thought, he didn't warrant this madness. "The others!?" She shouted in between puffs of air. But she saw Cloak and Laurie in the corner of her eyes as they broke into the trees.

The charging beasts threatened to overtake them, and a few of the front runners brushed up against the illusionist, nearly causing her to fall over. Blindly running away was insane, as she didn't have Rahne's speed or any familiarity with the jungle's terrain. If she wasn't trampled, she'd surely break a leg. Whistling loudly and gesturing Tyrone and Laurie run behind her, she skidded to a halt and turned to face the onslaught with flashing eyes. Almost immediately, a fire ignited spontaneously in the undergrowth, causing several dinosaurs to croak and holler fearfully. The flames licked the air like a shimmering mirage, but to the animals, they felt the heat of it on their scales. The stampede tripped and stumbled upon each in their attempts to avoid the blaze, but their momentum was so great that Danielle had to dance out of the cascading bodies' path.

The fire was a nice start, but bedlam still ensued. In perfect synchronization with Danielle's renewed concentration, and terrible roar shook the jungle. The swarm of raptors and an enraged tyrannosaurus dispersed throughout the understory like ghosts, but the fear in the scattering animal's eyes were genuine. "Come on!" She hollered at her colleagues, as the fire illusion began to encircle her, Rahne, and an injured hadrosaur. All around them, the crowd dispersed at random as predators chased prey. "Kitty and Derek, are they okay? Did anyone see them?" She asked no one in particular after the situation quieted. She assumed Kevin still circled above them, and seeing as both Kitty and Derek were nearly indestructible, Dani wasn't terribly worried. With the flow of dinosaurs broken into two streams to the either side of her, she felt ready to conquer other hurdles.

"Laurie, want to help me calm this one down? I need to ask her something."

No sooner did she hear Rahne's voice in the near distance, and Cloak's command to run, than did her feet start hurling her forwards. Follow Rahne's voice. Find them. Just run. Run run run run run. What the hell. Her mind was racing. She had never really encountered a dinosaur in the Savage Lands yet, and she hadn't ever wanted to. Yes, she knew some of them were herbivores and likely harmless, but there were also the carnivores and omnivores to consider. The blonde had no idea which type of diet the dinosaurs that were stampeding towards them were on - she hadn't gotten a proper look - but she sure as hell didn't want to be caught in their clutches regardless.

Luckily, Laurie was small and light, and running had never been a big problem for her. She hurled over any obstacles that were thrown her way, ducking branches and jumping stumps as she felt any stray ranches and plants brush her legs, arms and face in painful strikes. She didn't have some superhuman agility after all - there would definitely be a lot of scrapes after this. Quickly, she checked over her shoulder to make sure Tyrone was still on her heels, and was relieved to see him hurdling behind her. As the brush got thicker, the stinging pain of the scrapes worsened, but she powered through regardless. Dirt sprayed up her legs, sweat dripping as she sprinted through the heat.

The sight of Dani and Rahne in front of her was welcome, and Laurie quickly sped up in order to reach them - they weren't too far ahead. Dani motioned for them to stay close behind her, and Laurie nodded to no one in particular as she ran, huffing through the extensive exertion of energy. As Dani skidded to an unexpected halt, so too did Laurie as she slowed her momentum, taking stance behind Dani as she ignited the illusion of a fire in an attempt to halt the dinosaurs. Their momentum was too great however, and came tumbling in a massive dino-pile, from which Laurie had to quickly jump out of the path of destruction.

Of course, it didn't end there though. Some time in the process of the stampede, a herd of raptors and a massive tyrannosaurus rex joined in the chaos and hurled themselves forward. Laurie's jaw slacked and her eyes widened - a tyrannosaurus rex? They were the coolest dinosaur. Their derpy little arms had always made Laurie laugh, but in this situation, it wasn't quite so funny - rather, deadly. She vaguely heard Dani exclaim for them to join her, and Laurie unconsciously threw herself into the growing circle of flames, survival instincts trumping sheer terror.

When she was safely within the ring of fire - Johnny Cash would be proud - Laurie bent forward and propped her hands on her knees as she caught her breath. Her throat was dry and her heart was pounding against her chest as she shook her head in response to Dani's question. No she hadn't seen Kitty or Derek anywhere, and worry joined every other emotion that was swirling through her. She hoped they were okay - maybe they had managed to duck for cover. As her heart rate slowed and she caught up with her breath, the blonde stood up and placed her hands on her hips, exhaling sharply. "Well, that was my workout for the day," she commented a bit breathlessly, wiping her brow of the sweat that had accumulated. Shaking her sweat-stained shirt - you're so attractive right now - in a vain attempt to cool herself down, Laurie acknowledged Dani's request to calm the injured dinosaur they had with them down with a nod. "Sure thing."

Examining the dinosaur in front of them, Laurie took position next to Dani and faced the massive creature, taking a deep breath. Calming a dinosaur was new territory for her - an entirely new species she had never worked with before. The blonde set to work by closing her eyes and assessing the situation, regulating her own emotions to a blank slate, focusing on the familiar feeling of calm and attempting to overcome the raging fear of the creature in front of her. It took some concentration, and the more effort she put into it, the more visible her pheromones became, a faint, wispy yellow glow surrounding her and slithering over to the hadrosaur.

"'Tis muh nature and muh job to worry about you, Kevin! I dinnae want ye doin' anythin' wreckless!" Rahne called back to the boy as he circled overhead. He was her responsibility. His well-being, his survival out here.

And then... there were the others. Just as Kevin had said. Terrible timing, though. As if the stampede wasn't bad enough, they apparently now had some opportunistic predators taking advantage of the chaos - or at least trying to. But something was wrong there, too. It took Rahne a moment to realize why - it wasn't because they were actually there and behaving wrong - it was because they weren't, they were illusory.

"Dani Moonstar, ye're a bloody genius. I dinnae tell ye that nearly enough, I think," Rahne said with a sigh of relief as Dani's powers managed to funnel the stampede around the two of them as Dani called out for Laurie's help with the one smaller creature they had in their grasp. Psionic diagnosis with Dani Moonstar, Dinosaur Whisperer.

Rahne knelt down by the dinosaur and held it down, her own physical prowess enough to hold it in place alongside Dani's grip as Laurie approached to apply some calming pheremones. The creature gave a few kicks, tried to buck and screeched its protest, but soon enough, Laurie had it calmed and relaxed. His eyes opened and closed slowly, almost drowsily. And Dani would have her access. Rahne let go and stood up slowly, not wanting to disturb the process.

Sure enough, the herd soon stomped their way past the group, and Rahne breathed a sigh of relief as she stepped back, away from the reading so that her presence wouldn't disturb the little guy back into panic. She double-tapped the "X" emblem on her left shoulder as Dani asked about Kitty and Derek's status.

"I've activated muh uniform's homin' beacon - they'll know where to find... us..." Rahne trailed off as an odd scent caught her attention. It wasn't the pheremones Laurie was working with - those she was familiar with and knew how to tune out. This was something utterly out of place.

She crept over to a slight change of elevation, a shift in the forest floor of about six feet high and deftly hopped up it, crouching down at a nest hidden amongst the trees, presumably a smaller to middle-sized dinosaur. It had been disturbed - recently at that - several eggs cracked wide open, yolk and white dried and crusted into the packed dirt. That in and of itself wasn't terribly out of the ordinary. There were plenty of creatures that preyed on the eggs of others in this land.

What was out of place was the boot print square in the middle of it. An older boot, left some rubber residue behind. She sniffed at it - this was not one of theirs. Whoever had been through here had been through days in advance of the X-Men. Whoever it was had fairly small, narrow feet - oddly shaped feet.

"Somebody's been through here," she said, frowning. This was not good. Not good at all.

The Genoshan was helpless. Unable to serve the very specific assignment that he was brought out here for -- that is, to fend off dinosaurs -- the monstrous megamorph screeched over the canopy. He watched the dinosaurs surge through the forests, trampling saplings and brush, charging daringly close to his fellow mutants. He could crash through the canopy and into the depths of the trees without worry, but it would be a greater waste of this form. The creature tipped his wings from side to side, listing back and forth, watching as the the others scattered through the trees. Among the hoots and honks of the herbivores, he heard the sudden deep roar of something bigger. It was about as big as he could get.

The tyrannosaur bulldozed through the trees, smaller predators scattering in packs, away from a sprouted illusion of flame. The concept of fire did not effect the creature. It had no fear, no qualms, no inhibition. The destructive element was its kin, as far as it was concerned, but for the mind that occupied its body, Kevin trained his eyes on it. Through the flecked foliage, he saw several of his mutant companions in the circle of fire. Dinosaurs raced around it, a river of flesh breaking around the boulder of fire. Along with the mutants, Kevin saw a writhing mass of muscle and scales, an injured dinosaur strewn on the ground. The moment he saw it, Kevin knew he had to look away.

His stomach roiled, that unending emptiness filling his guts. Hunger crawled up his throat and stained his tongue, glands beneath the wet organ secreting salivation. Yanking his head away from the sight, Kevin turned away, reeling off. A clearing wasn't too far from where they gathered, so while the other X-Men came together around the fallen and injured dinosaur, the monster above them drifted off to land, careful to mind which way to go.

Rotten leaves scattered, some loose dirt blew, and branches swayed on their trunks as heavy, leathery wings beat at the air in a smooth descent. By no means as graceful in the art nor practice of flying as many of the other mutants in Utopia, the monster landed on its hind legs with a rumble. Wings folded quickly to draw themselves against the relatively lithe body. Claws at the peaks of the them touched the ground, its rudder tail swaying behind it, dragging over the earth. Drawing in a breath, the creature became covered in that yellow-green mist, dissolving away slowly to the fleshy, feeble human boy with one monster leg within.

Having been in his first form for some time, then the second he just came out of, Kevin felt a bit drained. Wiping his brow, Kevin looked around the clearing. He felt something... The earth shaking with a vibration that reached through his shoe. His scaled foot tensed, watching through the trees as that roaring tyrant king stopped and turned its head toward him. Through the thick foliage, Kevin could hear a gurgle akin to his own. It was thoughtful, pensive, and deliberate. He knew that sound intimately, the sound of a creature pondering its next meal, wondering if this might be its next kill and ticket to feed its stomach.

And out here, Kevin knew he could just be another part of the food chain.

But now was not the time for the Rex to pause, not when it had been scared off by fire. It lumbered off with the rest and soon, the forest was seemingly back to its quiet nature. The tides of dinosaurs had moved on, the stampede coming to an end.

A minute or two later, Kevin had found his way back to the others, Miss Sinclair's nose in the ground among a pile of shattered eggs and their yolks. Narrowing his eyes suspiciously, Kevin looked past her. It seemed like someone had stood where she stepped, a footprint left behind by a wandering person. The foot was shaped oddly, but the imprint was clearly artificial, like someone was wearing a boot.

Following the direction of the foot, Kevin stopped, looking down at yet another footprint. "And they were going this way..." he said, running his gaze along the ground. He could see more of the same size going in that direction. "Wolverine had said tracks don't last long in the forest. They get covered and the rains wash them away... Yeh think these are new? Should we follow them? Maybe they were caught in the stampede, too."

As Kitty and Derek fled from the incoming stampede phasing in and out of tree's and dinosaurs alike, One thing kept plaguing the mind of Kitty, After all the years of watching horror movies and such with Bobby she always made fun of people who ran away from the incoming meteor and got caught up in the blast, Or those who tried to out run the mindless thing on a one way track straight ahead instead of them running towards the meteor so when it passed over them they were well out of the blast zone, Or running sideways across the stampede instead of running in the same direction and let the beasts pass that way.

But when a herd of dinosaurs are charging full bore at you, You really don't have much time to think of the most proper escape plan and think about where the quickest plan of escape is. Now that they stampede passed and Kitty and Derek were alone once again they lost sight of Kevin in all the excitement and were lost in the Savage Land wildes. “So uh, What plan is it we're up to again? Plan D?” Kitty asked as they now needed to figure out a way to get back to the group or at least back on the right track back towards the camp.

But Kitty and Derek didn't stay lost for very long as a homing beacon was activated. As Kitty checked her suit she noted. “Somebody must like us.” But when Kitty thought about if for a moment she rushed a hurried look to Derek. “Back to Plan C, What if whoever activated the beacon is hurt and needs help?” Kitty asked. “Grab my hand again, We gotta haul ass to where the beacon is coming from.” Kitty then grabbed the hand of Derek as they ran at a slower pace then they did when the beasts were bearing down on them.

But the pace was still quick enough to be in a rush to whoever was in need of help if they were indeed in need of help after all. It didn't take long to make a straight line phasing through whatever obstacles were in their path as they reached the main group, As they approached they saw that everyone was alright. Kitty then slowed down the pacing huffing and puffing from running all over the Savage Land jungle as she looked over to Rahne. “Well... Everyone having fun yet?” Kitty asked while she continued to try and catch her breathe.

Cloak stayed hot on Laurie's tail as the pair ran in their attempt to stay ahead of the dinosaurs. As Dani whistled to the pair Tyrone followed Laurie into the same. Once behind her a burst of flames erupted between the group and the dinosaurs creating a barrier between them and the dinosaurs. Tyrone was impressed though even though they had to play dodge the dinosaurs for a bit longer the worst of the stampede had avoided them due to Dani's quick thinking.

With Dani, Laurie and Rahne now focused on keeping the the captured dinosaur down, Tyrone took watch. It wasn't long until what remained of the stamped had made their way passed the group. Tyrone kept his eyes senses alert as Rahne spoke of activating her homing beacon.

"Do you know if Derek and Kitty had anyone else with them?" Tyrone looked across to Dani and Rahne, before Rahne could answer hims he seemed to have become interested in something else, following her gaze. Tyrone's eyes fell on the nest of broken eggs. He didn't realise until Rahne and now Kevin who had rejoined the group spoke of the foot print that he noticed it was there.

"Maybe they were the ones that caused the stampede? If they are going in the direction we're going in I don't think that it's a bad thing that we follow them."

Near to where the group was standing the trees began to rustle, it was Derek and Kitty. “Well... Everyone having fun yet?” Kitty spoke. Tyrone couldn't help but find it a little amusing. "What's not to enjoy about having to run from Dinos? It's my daily work out."

Tyrone now moved away from Laurie and Dani, to where the nest of eggs had been destroyed, moving up next to Kevin, Tyrone looked at the general direction in which the foot prints went in. "think it was the natives that made these?"

As Bruiser caught sight of the rest of his teammates, he couldn't help but sigh in relief. From the looks of things, nobody was injured and they were working with an injured dinosaur. As Kitty released his hand and he started to feel the breeze again, he took a quick assessment. Wolfsbane, check. Moonstar, check. Freakshow, Check. Wallflower, check. Cloak, check. Shadowcat, well, duh.

All present and accounted for. As Kitty and Tyrone exchanged some banter, he took a closer look at the dinosaur, then shifted his gaze to the footprints.

"Hell, no. Those ain't moccasin tracks." He spoke up to Cloak. They're boots. Doesn't look like one of ours, either.

He looked to Moonstar, who seemed to be gazing intently at the hadrosaur, concentrating, then back to Wolfsbane. "Doesn't smell like our most recent rescue, does it?" He folded his arms as he wandered alongside the footprints, waiting for Dani to finish her own investigation as he pondered the possibilities. Again, he found his mind wandering to their mystery girl and realized he never bothered looking at her shoes. Didn't matter anyway, Rahne was already on it. He glanced at Freakshow. "Well, if you two can't smell 'em from here, I'd say they're probably long gone, so they probably didn't cause the stampede at least..."

Of course, he really had no idea. Try as he might, he rarely ever could figure out what was going on in this place. He was just more or less throwing out suggestions. They needed to put their heads together, and even though he knew his was pretty much mush, sometimes he did manage to catch lightning in a bottle.

"Fun? Aye, loads," Rahne answered with a light frown that indicated that she really wasn't as she examined the trampled nest carefully. Whether or not this was a deliberate action was hard to say. It could have been accidental, someone trying to escape something and stepping in the wrong spot, or it could have been deliberate cruelty, someone seeking to stir up the creatures in an outrage.

But that couldn't have explained the broad behavior that was exhibited, could it? The overall antsiness of the dinosaurs, their snappishness in replacement of serenity and cooperativeness - that was too much to attribute to someone trampling one single nest, right?

"Dani an' Laurie are workin' on ascertaining what's got all the beasties in a tizzy," she explained to those just joining them as she sniffed at the footprint.

"Hard to say how old it truly is, Kevin," she frowned slightly. "Judgin' by how dry and caked the leftover egg fluids are, it could be a day or two, could be a couple of hours. Hard to tell with how humid this jungle is. Plus the site's been visited by several scavengers since, an' that muddies up things a touch."

She sighed, glancing up to Cloak as he asked whether or not it was possible this bootprint belonged to a native.
"Definitely not. This print belongs to a manufactured boot, but from where I've nary a clue. Shape seems odd. So that stands to reason that the foot's shaped odd."

She stood up slowly, shaking her head.
"One thing I can guarantee, though - whoever this was - he or she is nae one of our people. An' that is rather upsetting a thought."

Say the dog and butterfly,
in the air they like to fly.
Dog and butterfly.
She knew she had to try,
and she float back down to the warm soft ground,
laughing - she don't know why,
but she had to try, she had to try.
Dog and Buttefly.

Kevin narrowed his eyes on the footprints. He didn't know what to make of them outside of what had already been established. Someone else was here. Miss Rahne would have picked up the scent of their own if someone had passed through here, meaning that whomever was out here was unfamiliar. His monstrous foot tensed next to the boot-mark and his head slowly raised, following the path into the forest. No one had been as far out as they had already and while he was sure he could make it to the ends of the earth himself, the Genoshan knew he wasn't good enough at tracking to follow the footsteps to their destination.

He glanced at Bruiser and shrugged. "I can't smell anything more than yeh can when I'm like this. And if Miss Sinclair isn't picking up anything there'd be no point. I don't think any of the natives would be wearing anything like this either. At least, that's what the books said."

The Genoshan grunted and turned away, walking back to the nest of broken eggs. Rahne was right. They were dried with only a little sign of dampness. It had been a good while against Kevin's earlier predictions. He had figured the stampede sent whomever was wearing the boot running through this area, but with how dry the eggs were... It had been some time.

"Wonder what kind of eggs they were..." Kevin said with a frown. Part of him still wanted to grin seeing the crushed, destroyed shells. He made sure not to show it, though. "I think we should get any details we can from the boot. Size, weight, stuff like that, and in mind what direction they were going and maybe track it as far as we can. This seems like something we should head back and tell Mister Cyclops about..." He glanced to Rahne, not wanting to seem like he was making any decisions for the lot of them. "Right?"

Once Kitty and Derek arrived on the scene Kitty shared some quick jokingly hellos with the rest of the group, When it became increasingly obvious something serious was going on and being discussed among the people in the group who had been around prior to the stampede. As Kitty tried to listen to what the others were saying while they talked about the animals getting riled up, Men's boots and smashed eggs, “Uh... I know I am a little late to the party, But I have the overwhelming feeling I've missed something important.” Kitty added.

With talk about bringing the findings of what just happened to Cyclops, Kitty knew he had a lot of other things going on right now and if this was just a mere coincidence it wouldn't be worthy of his attention at the moment, And Kitty was one of science and logical explanations for everything as she quickly started to think about why someone with advanced boots and wormholes and generators shutting down simultaneously she kept up with a line of questioning to see if she could get more answers from the others. “I mean, The eggs? Why are they important besides that they were destroyed in a stampede?” Kitty asked following up her previous statement.

“If the boot print doesn't look that old, It's probably nothing to be too overly concerned about, We already know we aren't the only ones who travel here for all we know it could have been the inhumans coming back with their high tech space boots stomping around a few weeks ago, Because they knew we were here snooping around again. Heck for all we know it was them who shut down the worm hole because of all our traveling back and fourth. They still probably have a pretty big bug up their butts about us messing around with their stuff, Even though they tried to clean it all up after that time with Josh and how that all turned out.”

He felt a little dumb when Kevin told him that his sense of smell didn't get stronger when he changed. Once again, his assumptions were wrong.

"Sorry, my bad..."

He took a deep breath.

"I agree, though. We should probably get back to camp and report this before we go chasing after it."

His head was working around a couple of dozen scenarios for an explanation, but he'd learned the hard way that it was never good to run off after an assumption.

"I'd say we're at a fork, here, guys..." he added. "Do we get back to camp, or follow the yellow brick road?"

He kept glancing at the footprints as he followed their path. The ones further away were even more faded and worn. And if Rahne couldn't pick anything up, then it wouldn't be worth getting into a goose chase.

"Or... we could split up..." he threw in. "Some of us could go back to report and some us try to follow the trail."

He folded his arms across his chest. "Or... we can save that for later and get back to the task at hand. I mean..." he glanced around. "This is weird... but since we got nothin' to go on, maybe we should get back to what we were doing beforehand now that we know we're all safe...?"

His gaze shot to his superiors. They had been X-Men long before he even knew they existed. "But it's you guys' call."
