GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Jubilee is a mutant that possesses the ability to create what she calls fireworks. These fireworks are energy globules that can vary in size and strength, power and intensity. The globules obey her mental command by traveling wherever it is that she wants them to go. They can come in the form of balls, streamers, or in any other shape that she desires. The fireworks don't have to explode immediately, she can make them explode whenever she wants. The combination of the fireworks can result in anything from a multitude of colorful sparkles that can temporarily blind someone to detonations that can smash tree trunks and metal.
Jubilee can absorb the energy back into her body without causing herself harm. She has the potential to detonate matter on a subatomic level making her a walking atom bomb, essentially. Aside from her energy powers, Jubilee possesses a natural defense against telepathic detection and attacks. The psionic shielding of her mind renders her slippery and invisible to telepaths unless they specifically know what to scan for.
WEAKNESS: Jubilee may be a mutant, but she is still a mortal being. With that said, she is vulnerable to all of the human ailments and diseases. This means that she is capable of getting the flu, cancer or any other terminal disease that could end her life. She has no invulnerability powers so being stabbed and shot is a huge possibility. Jubilee also suffers from what is know as dyscalculia which is the inability to solve mathematical problems. Jubilation can use her powers extensively for about ten minutes before she starts to get tired. Anymore generation after the initial ten minutes will result in her becoming extremely exhausted and unable to use her powers. She must rest to recharge.
PERSONALITYTo sum up Jubilee's personality would be to say that she is a mall rat that can run off at the mouth. She is the type of girl that doesn't mind speaking her mind and saying whatever it is that she wants despite how a person may feel about it. And it is that part of her that usually gets her into trouble with authority figures and higher ups. You don't have to ask for her opinion, but she will give it anyway and you might not like it. Jubilee has plenty of energy to spare as she has the thrills for adventure, living a dangerous life. Despite her brashness, she can make friends with people with relative ease. She has a strong sense of loyalty and will defend her friends like a rabid bulldog if someone wants to bring them harm. You can always count on Jubilee to tell it how it is no holds barred.
She enjoys video games, chewing gum, reading comics, and generally doing the fun things in life.In a way, one could almost describe part of her as a bit of a nerd. She may not admit to it, but she is. She likes to read comics and participate in roleplaying games whether they be texted based, board games, or even some live action cosplay. But like I said... she won't admit that part. Jubilation is deep down a nice young woman that will do anything to see that her friends are safe from harm and will gladly lend a helping hand to those in need of it.
HISTORY The siblings Jun and Hope Lee were never really close during their childhood lives in the city of Hong Kong, China. The older they got the bigger the chasm between them grew. Jun inherited their father’s banking company, fell in love with a young woman named Ying who came from a wealthy family, and married her a year later. Hope, having always been something of a problem child, chose a much less honest living. She joined the local 14K Triads as an assassin. That was something that Jun could and would not tolerate. With Ying a couple of weeks pregnant, he was not about to let their future child grow up around such dangerous dealings, so he and his wife moved to Beverly Hills, California where they would be able live a safe existence. Awhile after the move, their beautiful daughter Jubilation Lee was brought into the world.
Practically from the moment that Jubilation could walk her parents had her enrolled in gymnastics or rather tumbling classes until she got old enough. It was predetermined that their daughter was going to be a star athlete with a bright future. Making sure that she was afforded the best education, Jubilee was enrolled at an exclusive school in Beverly Hills that was reserved for only the most talented and prestigious children. While the young girl flourished in gymnastics well on her way to becoming an Olympic qualifier, she did have a rebellious side to her almost mirroring that of her estranged Aunt Hope when she was around Jubilation’s age. Whenever her parents were too busy, Jubilation would occasionally shuck off training to take up her skateboard and hang out with friends at one of the malls in her neighborhood. Life was good for her… until she was 13.
When her father Jun found out that money was being laundered through his bank by a multi-billion dollar criminal named Hunter Brawn, he threatened to go to the police with his findings. To keep that from happening Brawn hired two hitmen, Reno and Molokai to murder the Lee family. Jubilation would no doubt have been a victim of the heinous crime had she not been out with a friend at the time. The news hit her like a sack of steel covered bricks. She fell into a deep depression, and the orphanage she was placed in did nothing to help the situation. Jubilation could not stand living there, so much so that after only a week she ran away. Eventually she found her way to the mall that she would often hang out at with her friends. Mall Du Jour was one of the few places that the young girl felt safe. In order to survive, she did what any person in her situation would do: she stole.
Her good friend Cynthia Jennifer, whom she used to skate with, offered to ask her parents to let her live with them, but Jubilation turned her down. She felt that she would have been nothing but a burden on the already big family. Besides everything that she needed could be obtained at the mall. After only two months of living as a mall rat, life took another drastic turn. While Jubilation and Cynjen (her affectionate name for Cynthia) were causing a little bit of trouble around the mall, police officers started chasing them down. Cynjen managed to get away, but Jubilation was cornered in an alley behind the building, hiding behind a trashcan. All sorts of scenarios ran though her mind, none of which ended well. The possibility of having to face a juvenile sentencing made her panic and panic hard. The combination of fear and anxiety was enough to unleash the mutant powers that she did not even know were in her. A large blast of color and light erupted tossing the two officers away allowing her to escape.
A little while later, Jubilation was found by Cynthia soaking her hands in the ocean by the pier, tears streaming down her face. It was the only way for her to find some relief from the burning sensation. Not only that, but it was like everything that happened to her recently just came crashing down oh her heart and mind. Jubilation wanted her life to go back to normal… to go back to how it was before her parents were murdered, but she knew that that would never happen. About a week later having explored the small things she could do with her mutant abilities, Jubilation thought it a good idea to use them to her advantage. As if it were some kind of magic trick, she would entertain the mall’s costumers for cash. The little side gig went well, but only for a short time. The security and local authorities did not appreciate a mutant stealing and openly displaying powers.
Thankfully her constant demonstrating had gotten the attention of a group of mutants that called themselves the X-Men. They showed up just in time to save Jubilation from what would have probably been a very long jail term. With no other place to go, she said goodbye to her good friend Cynthia and left with the X-Men. The next four years of her life were spent at the Xavier Institute where she learned more about her abilities and mutants in general. After graduating from the Institute, Jubilation decided that would try her hand at living a normal life, something she had been wanting for a long time. Even after she left Xavier’s behind, the good friends she made and the lessons that were taught never went away.
DURING APOCALYPSE:Living in New York was awesome since the city offered so much to do for a girl of her talents. Not only was she great at gymnastics, Jubilation was a good actress. She started to audition for roles in small time plays in the city, hoping to eventually make it big on Broadway. These dreams sadly would be put on hold for the world was soon to be doomed. Jubilation was on her on when Apocalypse's horsemen attacked New York. She did whatever was in her power to help out those that couldn't help themselves. After he was taken down, she realized that there were more important things to do in life, things that would make a change in people's lives. With the threat gone, Jubilation found herself at the doorsteps of the government sanctioned X-Factor.
SAMPLE RP POST:Once upon a time Jubilation Lee lived in a mall in Hollywood. After a close call with racist security guards, she was rescued by the X-men and soon joined the Xavier Institute. After a long stint with them, she ventured out on her own to live a relatively normal life. Well as normal a life as a girl that can explode matter can. After her rather unsuccessful acting career, she found herself joining up with X-Factor. Even though she was working for the government now, she was still her usual energetic and mouthy self. Nothing in the world was going to change that aspect of her.
The girl needed something to do with her time today instead of hanging around base all day. Making up her mind on what it was that she wanted to do, she headed out into the city. Jubilation bobbed her head to the beat of the music blaring from her oversized headphones. The song was something on the... unique side of the music world, something she picked up from a concern one night. With her skateboard under her feet, she pushed along the sidewalk keeping to herself. One thing about skateboarding while listening to your music, you had to be little more perceptive of your surroundings. To bad young Jubilee wasn't even trying to bother with that.
”Cause you know that I-I-I-I will be the one to-WHOA!” Her rendition of the song was interrupted when she collided with a gentleman walking in the opposite direction. The impact tossed her right onto her ass and the skateboard rolled right into the street. Jubilation rubbed her head a bit before searching for her board. And there she saw it in the street, a truck approaching fast. ”Oh no no no no NO!” Damn.... ran right over it. A very aggravated growl escaped her throat. She set her anger filled eyes on the gentleman that she collided with seconds ago.
”Oh thank you soooo much you stupid jerk! You owe me a new friggin board you piss licking fartknocker.” She rose to her feet and got right up to his face. ”That board cost me a hundred and twelve bucks. I hope you have to funds to repay me.” Jubilation began to ramble off in her native, the man completely off put and confused.
