CLOTHING STYLE: Shard has adopted a more refined look. When going to a job fair or an interview, there was a certain image you had to uphold and that look started to grow on Shard. She usually trots around like a casual young professional everywhere she goes unless the occasion demands otherwise. When she’s at home or lounging around her room, she prefers to dress comfortably. Because it is so much of a polar opposite of how she usually dresses, some people may criticize her and make fun. She only laughs and she laughs with them.
UNIFORM: At the moment, Shard goes out on missions looking like a detective. Well, that’s the best way to describe it. Dark slacks, a button-up collar shirt (color changes), and black pumps. She may or may not wear a suede leather jacket that stretches mid-thigh. Most of the time she winds up burning this outfit and her jumpsuit winds up acting as her uniform.
During her time at the Institute, she has been given a comfortable navy blue jumpsuit that covers her feet, stops at her wrist, and the collar wraps around her neck like a collar at the bottom of her neck. There is a yellow zipper that can zip down to the waist region where a belt usually is. There are two golden-yellow strips, which match her hair that start under the arm pit and reaches down to her ankles. The great thing about this jumpsuit is that it was highly insulated and quite comfortable. Anyways, the suit was special and mandatory. It was highly resistant to heat, attracted and latches onto photons, fluctuates with them, and is comprised of unstable molecules. All that means is that when she is usually her powers, her clothes may burn to a cinder but her jumpsuit would always remain. Though it has not been tested, the suit was built to withstand the infamous Transhub.
POWERSGENERAL DESCRIPTION: Like a prism, Shard is able to absorb ambient solar, an abundant ray of light, and light energy into her body and tranhub that energy into an array of forms. Transhub, by definition in terms of her powers, is the act of absorbing, converting, and redistributing light energy. The bulk of her abilities are deemed most useful during the day time because of the unlimited energy source the, the Sun, provides her. Though light energy in the form of spotlights, tanning beds, etc. are viable sources of energy for Shard, the Sun is ideal because of the immense amount of photos the Sun’s ray possess.
To cope with the obviously, imminent subset of her powers, her body, like a flower to photosynthesis, can store loads and loads of light energy to be utilized at a later time. Though it may not be as abundant as it would be in the day time, it is sufficient enough for Shard to manage. She is still capable of transhubbing from common sources (spotlights, tanning beds, etc.) but, again, they are not as sufficient as the sun. Due to the harsh conditions of excited photons and the dependency of solar and light energy, Shard’s body, after her mutation, developed a high resistance to heat and high temperatures.
Once Shard has absorbed the ambient solar or light energies, she is capable of various feats which include energy blast, augmented stamina and strength, biological light anatomy manipulation, and converting herself into an energy life form.
Energy blast – Shard is capable of either utilizing the stored solar or light photons in her body or transhubbing the ambient light around her to fire off powerful blast of photonic energy. The intensity and overall strength of the beams depend complete upon how many photos are in the said beam and how much force Shard forces through her beams.
The numbers of photons in a blast are directly proportionate to the amount of force or power in the blast. She can range the blast from a harmless tickle to blowing a hole in a brick wall or blow torching through steel (given enough time). One of her standard energy blast is capable of blasting through brick walls and, maybe, put in a dent steel. One of her smaller more concentrated beams could be capable of blow torching through thick surfaces given the proper amount of time (which could range from half an hour to hours depending on the thickness of the surface). Her beams are made of a concussive energy not an element. Her beams cannot burn or ignite people. Her beams are constricted to only firing her beams out of her hands.
Her energy blast can be amplified and distributed if she is firing her beams at some type of light medium. Theoretically, all of her energy blast should obey the laws of diffraction, reflection, amplification, and all those other things about the laws of light. The unknown factor of this is the concussive force behind her blast. Would the blast separate the light and the concussive? It is my belief that, given a strong enough mirror to endure the concussive force, that her beams could be reflected, diffracted, amplified, and any other laws of light. If her beams are fired at large bodies of water, the water can absorb the concussive blast and slow down her energy blast until they fizz out of her range, which is roughly around 335 feet.
Augmented Stamina and Strength – As mentioned prior, Shard is capable of absorbing and storing solar and light energy into her similar to a flower in photosynthesis. In the process of photosynthesis with a flower, flowers receive life and energy via light and solar energy. With Shard’s mutant biological anatomy, she is able to use the light as a sufficient energy source, along with the natural energy producers of the human body proteins and glucose, which give her a degree of augmented stamina. Shard is capable of walking a number of miles for hours at a time before breaking into a sweat or getting tired.
Like her brother, retaining larger amounts of energy increases her natural human strength to Olympic level feats. The heaviest object she has ever lifted and tossed was a 500 Ib. male, a limit which has been tested and measured to be a consistent limit. In theory, Shard could survive for days without eating. The theory has never been tested because Shard loves to eat. Although, she does notice that she never gets hungry or becomes starved. When she sees food, she eats if it looks good and everybody else is eating. Like the countless automatic functions of the human-mutant body, her body can automatically distribute the energy absorbed and where to store them. Whether it goes into immediate energy usage, energy storage, vitamins and nutrients storage, or hunger in her body is a highly advance system in Shard’s anatomy. Like an appetite, the body knows when it’s full. It is the choice of the person, in said position, whether or not to willfully eat past your limit and put on extra calories because the body only takes in, with proper regulation of the person, as much as it needs. Her mutation has advanced not only her metabolism but her automatic bodily functions efficiency as well.
Biological Light Anatomy Manipulation/Invisibility – Shard can convert her entire body in a space of photons that give off her image or to give off a glowing effect. Bishop sometimes calls her form a hologram. In this form, she is capable of two feats, invisibility and snap shot. She can lower the amount of photons in her space to the point that the human eye cannot perceive her with their eyes unless they have superhuman vision or a degree of superhuman vision. The human eye can perceive 500 to 900 photos in order to register to the human brain. While in this invisible form, Shard cannot fire invisible energy blast. Her blast are comprised of hundreds and thousands, maybe millions, of excite photons, which are plenty enough to be detected by the human eye, superhuman or not.
Though her powers are fairly similar to her brothers, she is not able to heal herself absorbing ambient light energy. In this form, she is not intangible. Light cannot pass through solid object or wall and neither can she. Although, she loves to turn into while running toward a wall to fake like she can phase through walls. If refracted in this form, she is capable of reforming herself into one being with ease. With the same effort it takes to decrease the number of photons, she can instantaneously increase the number present in a moments to notice and back either her holographic form or back to normal in second. In the event she used this ability to fluctuate the photons in her body, a flashing snap shot effect is created. Her snap shots can be quite painful to the eyes and can cause temporary blindness. The subset is that this ability canont affect her teammates as well; although, her body and its many features work an inch outside of her body.
Transhub Form – While lowering her photons makes her invisible to the human eye, increasing them turns her into a light energy based life form that is compiled of an immeasurable amount of photons by absorbing solar or light energy at an aggressively, excessive rate. In this form, she is no longer bound by flesh and blood. Even her hair becomes a flowing sheet of light energy. She exists as only biological based energy. Unfortunately, the abilities of this form have yet to be explored and, even, Shard does not understand the boundaries and limitations of this form. The only fact she is sure of in this form is that, if the time came and Bishop ever needed her energy for an emergency recharge, she could give Bishop an insane amount of energy all at one time. She is has only transformed into this form once and never got a chance to explore this forms capabilities. Her jumpsuit should still be present while in this form.
In theory, while in this form, she can burn people and be a source of light for those who get really close to her because of the heat and light that her body naturally lets off while in this form. She cannot incinerate people. She should be able to teleport and capable of flight but, since she is not an energy manipulator, those feats are impossible for her to attain. With energy streaming down every vein of her body, she still maintains all her powers in the same capacity as her normal form except for invisibility. Aside from her appearance and the features listed above, nothing really changes. Turns out, this form is just an expression of her mutation.
WEAKNESSES:Night time vs Day time – Shard is usually at the top of her game during the daylight hours, but, at night, her performance can be severely limited. If she were to run out of energy reserves, she would be considered quite powerless. Aside from manipulating her body to become invisible, she would not have any powers to rely on. Give or take, she can easily recharge absorbing light from common amenities (spotlights, tanning beds, car lights). It just takes more time to charge up her reserves to her desire using common amenities if they are available to her.
Average Human – By no means is Shard invulnerable. She can be shot, she can be stabbed, and, hell, she can be hit by a bus and she will die. Though she has means of avoiding any of the said things or worse, she will be hurt or dead just like any other flat scan or mutant without invulnerability.
Electricity – So, according to quantum physics and Shard’s reaction to electricity while in holographic form and, possibly, in Transhub form, can prove to be fatal unless Shard’s energy reserves at the time electricity strikes her is greater than the electricity. The effects can include or not limited to falling unconscious, being drained of all of her energy to the point of starvation or malnourishment, or death/near-death.
Transhub – The Transhub is a form of pure energy that still retains Shard’s shape and appearance except for her skin which turns a glowing golden yellow. Her body is very vulnerable to light energy manipulators, electricity generators and manipulators, and energy absorbers. Though the Transhub has a ‘core’, which cannot be destroyed or she would die, Shard can reabsorb the photons in the room and reform herself if the body is scattered about by an energy manipulator and, given, there was enough ambient light energy wherever she is scattered or whatever.
If electricity that strikes her overpowers the photons in her body, the result would be instant death or near death. Her best bet is to steer clear of electricity at all cost while in any form other than in her own flesh and blood. If in the case she was absorbed, whether or not her ‘core’ was to remain intact or be lost in the energies that may be present is puzzling. If she were somehow capable of maintaining her ‘core’, which is light life form essence squeezed into one space, she could survive. If not, she might just be washed away in the other energies.
PERSONALITYShard is a natural born leader. In her is the potential to be an impressive leader. In some character traits, she exceeds Bishop but, instead, she chooses to follow. She feels most comfortable taking orders than giving them. That might be the reason why she is so easily influence by people or has been. The problem is she does not know this yet. In fact, she doesn't know who she is. In her life, she has always created problems for herself. Competing with her brother, giving in to the pressure of her peers for the sake of fitting in, and pleasing people because she felt like she didn’t matter all that much. A feeling of worthlessness has always befallen her until after her father died and she began talking to her grandmother more. Shard has always said that the gift of wisdom was the best gift she could ever have received from her grandmother.
From teenage years on, Shard has learned to take responsibilities for her actions, to put herself first, and that she cannot be a victim forever. Shard is a solution finder not a complainer, the type of people she hates to be around the most, and she is very outspoken about her opinion, ever when it is not asked for. Complainers remind her of her old self. Though she is always respectful of others and considerate of people she loves, Shard is no fool. She will never allow herself to be pushed over or bullied. Always demanding to be treated with respect, the guys around her usually consider her one of the boys, despite the fact she hates the term.
She can be seen as tomboy at times and is immediately judged by other girls. Since gaining wisdom, she has never been of fan of ‘girlfriends’ and anything close to that because women keep up too much mess and drama for her. Always backstabbing and being deceitful, Shard would respect you more if you were loud and upfront than someone is a lying snake, which is why she has so much respect for her brother. He has never said anything to anyone about her that he has not already told her. This communication works both ways with them, but, between those two, Shard is highly consider of people’s feelings and find ways to say what she needs to say without making a conversation a danger zone.
Always trying to remain neutral and resist emotional investing herself, Shard is a very fair person. When I say that, she does not just agree with people because she knows them. She agrees with what makes sense and that alone. Acting on facts alone and not he said she said drama, Shard is usually always right on the money when it comes to making decisions, which some people do not agree with. Her only recoiling traits are that she is highly sensitive, too independent, and self-sacrificing. She is always keeping her feelings bottled up and explodes, once her emotions do get the best of her. She has issues with trusting people since her teenage years when people use to use her. She is always self-sacrificing her own needs for the needs and wants of others. She would rather see others succeed than herself. She now understands that she cannot always put other people before her. She considers herself a server in most professional and personal cases, which can sometimes be a good thing professionally.
Though it may seem that Shard always has it together, she does have issues with her confidence that sometimes affects her overall performance. She feels like she always have to prove her worth to others and that usually puts her in a position where no one is around to help her when she needs it. Sometimes her actions are brash and bullhead and, before she recognizes it, it is too late to change her actions. She would be in way too deep. Her father use to always be there for her when she needed him, even if she didn’t want his help. Her brash actions have always and will always affect her life if does not one realize her own worth for herself.
HISTORY: PRE-APOCALYPSE Shard was fairly young when her mother died in the hospital. While only faint memories connect her to her mother, she hardly knows the woman but her absence in her life has always been fresh in her mind but, unfortunately, her grandmother was fresh on her behind. Shard has always been a fairly radiant child, but she has always compared herself to Lucas in every way. In the amount of attention her got, his achievements, it all made her very bitter. Though she loved her brother deeply, he always a reminder of how much of a failure she felt like she was.
After her father died when she was 11 and her grandmother stepped in to raise her, she felt like everyone she loved was dying. She was too young to understand that things like this always happen. Her mother was gone, Bishop had left, and now her father was gone. There was no one. Shard chose to feel worthless in comparison to Bishop and distance herself from her grandmother instead of choosing to heal. She would rather be alone and an outsider than to lose another person she loved.
She took this attitude to school with her where she was always teased by the other girls and would always allow them to belittle her for the sake of being an outsider. She would never say a word. Not one. She never did but it was never a problem for Fitzroy, her childhood savoir. Near the end of the eighth grade, Trevor Fitzroy always stood up to her bullies and opposition. He took the place of her father. Her protection and influence was Trevor. Time minded her heart to his. She would do anything for him.
His influence on her took her life in a direction that, to this day, Shard hates to look back to. Trevor was a bit of a trouble maker who had a soft spot for girls like Shard. Girls who didn't feel WORTHY. Trevor, the sly fox he was, used girls like her to bolster his own confidence. Shard now recognizes this but, back then; she would pay money to know what she does now then. Shard formed a false confidence that gave her attitude like no one had ever sense before. She learned some of her attitude from Bishop but the rest was all influenced by Trevor. After middle school, Shard began to get involved with gangs and other activities. Despite her grandmother’s warnings, Shard decided to disobey, which always got her into the worst of troubles.
There was a time when Shard would spend more time on the street than she would at home. She has distanced herself so far away from her family that it became less about trying not to love them so she would not lose them. It became more about pleasing others. It wasn’t until the day her powers manifested that she hit rock bottom. Trevor had moved before her sophomore year of high school and she was again alone. All she wanted was to disappear to no longer exist and one day she did. She had not realized that while she was at lunch one day she just vanished into thin air. Shard was a mutant and she was hated by all of those around. Her sensitivity made her hate flatscans with a passion. She generalized all of them together like a bunch of rats.
It was not too long after that Xavier paid another visit to the Bishop household. This time looking he was looking for Shard. Shard’s grandmother refused and sent Xavier away. Shard wanted to go with him or maybe it was her comparing herself to her brother again. She was again on level playing field. She was a mutant to and she had an opportunity to show him who was better but Shard had told her grandmother she only wanted to keep Bishop as her favorite and keep her from her kind who really care about her. As a result, Shard’s grandmother slapped the stupid out of her and then they had a talk. It had taken 5 years for her Grandmother to finally stop letting Shard act out like a victim. It was time she stopped being a victim and become a survivor. That day changed her life forever. Her grandmother had taught her some of the most valuable lessons that she will always appreciate.
Having the confidence to live in her own life and not compare herself, Shard was finally coming into her own. At the age of 16, Shard turned her life around. She bolstered that ability to take life as it came and to overcome her obstacles not try and help the obstacles overcome her. Her grandmother never told Bishop everything that went on in Shard’s early childhood out of respect for Shard. Shard’s grandmother knew that if Lucas were to find out that Shard would tell him what she wanted him to know. On her way home from school, some of her old gang members comforted about becoming to uppity for them and attacked her. It was that day when Shard found out all that she could do and she was amazed. She beat the snot out of the old gang members and even threw their 500 Ib. Blockbuster at the last gang members who tried to run away once they realized that Shard was no longer a weak girl or mutant. All she needed was the confidence to know that she could. Unfortunately, she was going to need more than confidence to survive the Apocalypse.
DURING APOCALYPSE (April 5th through April 12th, 2009) Once the Apocalypse came, Shard hid with her grandmother. Though she could turn both of them invisible, Shard had torn a whole in the floor and shot it shot for her grandmother to hide in. Shard had remained invisible to make sure that the house stayed clear and the newly formed mutants never reached her grandmother. Unfortunately, that plan fell through the roof, literally. An abrasive group of mutants had raided the house. They, her and her grandmother, were in deep shit. Shard held her ground over the spot where her grandmother was sealed in safely. She fought off a few of the mutants but was quickly overwhelmed before of her lack of experience and the sun had been down for several hours before the opposition even got to Shard’s grandmothers house.
She was low on her light energy reserves and the death was surely upon them when Bishop arrived in the nick of time. For the first time in a long time, Shard hugged Bishop and told him that she loved him. Bishop never knew of her hatred towards him but she did and now she was at a point in life where she could just love him. No jealous just... love. Bishop knew that Shard had issues with her behavior, but Shard never really opened up to him about all of her feelings she had towards him and her shady teenage past. He would probably find Fitzroy and kill the man. Once Bishop arrived, it was then that Shard outed herself as a mutant, which evidently was not a big deal to him. Shard wanted to help fight but he forced her into the precinct with her grandmother ordering her to keep their grandmother safe. She obeyed until Bishop was beginning to get overrun. That’s when it happened. That’s when Shard’s light sparked.
Unaware of her actions because she didn’t understand what her powers were doing, she had absorbed any ambient light energy that she could in the precinct to the point of a black out and she transformed herself into a the pure energy life form that Shard now calls the Transhub. Shard pleaded that Bishop drain her and that she was pure energy at that point. He refused and continued to fight on without sacrificing her life. She was infuriated but fainted a few seconds after Bishop refused absorb the Transhub. The last thing she remembered was waking up in the Xavier’s Institute and she has been there ever since.
POST-APOCALYPSE After the Apocalypse, Shard’s grandmother thought it would be best Shard stayed with the Institute after what happened in the precinct. Even though her grandmother had her concerns about opinions of the common ‘flatscan’, she let her go to the institute and prayed that someone would change her views but only on the condition that she finished high school education, begin college, and get a job while at the institute. While at the institute, Shard has earned her high school degree from a home school program proctored by the Xavier’s Institute and, at the same time, she is learning more and more about her powers. Much to Shard’s dismay, in order to get stronger and more powerful, you have to become smarter. Like quantum physics smarter.
She is a rising junior at an online college degree program for a Bachelor degree in Quantum Physics and a minor in Linguism, It seemed to go hand-in-hand. All the smarty pants are not even American and don’t speak English. Why not? Two classes in, she dropped the Linguism and started looking into Criminal Justice, where law enforcement began to spark her interest. Currently, she is looking into a possible complete major change.
Aside from her educational studies that usually consume her life, Shard has for the most part kept to her studies and has not taken the time out to get to really know anyone at the Xavier’s Institute. She contributed her efforts to helping out at the Institute during the Inhumans and Savage Land escapade. She helped out with whatever she could at the Institute. She felt it was the least she could do for all the Institute had done for her. The downside of an online college program is that there isn't a campus to get involved with and work-study for, but they do lend out their various connections. Using the connections, her college got her a paid internship with as a research assistant in East Greenwich, New York. Since the Apocalypse, Shard had not reached a point where had turned into her transhub form. Every time she thought about it, it would send chills down her spine.
Her mind would fill with, ‘what ifs? And what are the consequences? Could I die?’ She had never pushed herself that far again despite Xavier’s and her instructors. Theoretically, she knew that in that form all she was a space with millions and millions of photons exciting other to the point of fiery space which still retained her form and appearance visually but she also knew that she was a mutant. Mutant genetic and quantum physics always created unknown quandaries. You can never predict the circumstances of a situation. That’s what she learned at the institute, so she officially dubbed the Transhub too dangerous and too unpredictable to access so casually.
It was not long after one thing past it was another. Scott had been acting funny and there was no Xavier to put him in check. Goes to show, the world was colliding with another that the X-men had called a World without Xavier. All Shard knew was that she had homework and she had to work. I mean, she wasn’t even an X-man. Hell, she was not a student working toward being an X-man. She began to question herself. What was she doing here? Why did she feel like this place was home? She had a job. She could afford a small apartment in Greenwich. Why was she here? She didn’t believe in the mutant loves humans dream but she did believe in her brother’s judgment. She loved her brother but, maybe, she would be better off gone, so she talked with her supervisor and was hired on as one of her lab’s student lab research staff and administrative secretary. Eventually, she moved out of the Institute, the now official crazy house, and moved in a small sub-lease apartment in Greenwich. A few months later, Shard was back at the Institute and had no questions of why she was there.
During her stay in Greenwich, the WWX had affected her town and, in particularly, her lab. Her co-workers, switched with their original selves, were mutant man hunters. She dispatched of them but not without struggle. They were mutant hunters who relied on technology and their brains to outsmart their prey. Needless to say, it worked. She was taken prisoner and subdued to all sorts of terrible things that Shard didn’t enjoy talking about in casual conversation. What she had realized was that she had created a world that she hated. Though being prisoner was a terrible time to stroll down memory lane, she had realized after working in a lab and behind a desk for the past few months. She was miserable. This wasn’t a life that she wanted. She liked to be active and out on the field. She felt… old and tamed.
She had realized the place she left was the place where she belonged, even if she didn’t really know anyone aside from her brothers and training instructors. It was the place where her life was active and she felt close to action. It was conveniently after this that she had outsmarted her captors. She had turned herself invisible and fooled her man hunters into thinking she had escaped. Once they opened her prison, she, for lack of words, freed herself. Soon, the WWX was over and Shard was back home where she belonged at the Institute. Now, she had a new motivation and changed her major to Criminal Justice and began dreaming hopes of becoming an X-man. Though she didn’t believe in the humans love mutants dream, she just wanted a piece of the action. Shard, now with new aspirations, is now open to a world of possibilities. Possibilities that might be, a bit, X-traodinary.
SAMPLE RP POST:August 8, 2011
5 pm
In a taxi on the way back to the InstituteTwo interviews and three job fairs later, Shard found herself at a crossroad between Quantum Physics, the science powered her abilities, and Criminal Justice, a subject that enticed her fully. Choosing between the two was like picking being Gucci and Dolce Cabana. You couldn’t choose. You just have to have them both or neither. Even as a rising junior in college she has no idea of which direction to take. I mean she could easily go either way at any point but it was not easy to make the decision.
Enough! she thought to herself.
It was barely the end of the afternoon and Shard felt like it was 11 o’ clock at night. She was tired of talking to people and she was tired of smiling. The muscles in her face had been contracted so much that she couldn’t whether she was smiling or drooling. All she knew was she was glad to be going home to her bed. She had been in a pair of dark khaki slacks, black pumps with extravagant blue fabric flowers, and a deep blue color shirt that matched her extravagant blue flowers. She accessorized with a pair of golden chandelier earrings and white pearl necklace and bracelet.
She was very well dressed, as always. The only thing missing was that one spark she usually has in her eyes. Ambient solar energy was hard to come by today. It was cloudy for the most of the day and the Sun, for only one moment, rose and was immediately thereafter covered by the clouds where it would not be seen for the rest of the day. She was running off of miniature finger foods and ambient light energy from amenities was nothing like the Sun’s ray, but the resilient Shard would manage as always. While riding in the cab, she grew more tired as more time passed. Her body functions kicked in with a yawning reaction and a force stretch to sooth the tenseness of the after effects of a yawn. The cab driver was drawing near the street intersection Shard requested and asked her for further direction. There was no way in hell that she was going to walk 4 blocks to the Institute.
“Hey, can you turn right at this corner and drive down that drive way?” Shard asked the Taxi Driver. Right then, unexpectedly, he eyes flash but only momentarily. I guess she had not been using the energy stored in her today and it just flashed her eyes and pupil completely white as a reaction to the unused energy that had been sitting there. Sadly, she was not the only one that saw that. The Taxi quickly gave his opening statement and it was a hard one.
“Oh hell no! I’m not driving you anywhere, Freakshow!” said the Taxi Driver
Something snapped in her mind. She could believe the audacity of this flatscan because that what he was. No better or no worse than the others. What she couldn't believe was her rebuttal to the highly prejudice statement against her. She had told the man to stop the car, which he was happy obliged, and asked him with all seriousness.
“How do I know you are not one of those freakshows? They look just like you. They look just like me. They look like normal people and are human people. Who are you to judge anyone? You’re a believer of God, right? According to his book, he is the only judge and those who try and become a judge are judged themselves even harsher, which means it’s not your place. Next time, think about that before you, a Taxi Driver, start spatting
bullshit like that out of your mouth!”
Immediately, she gathered her things and decided that walking would be better than staying in cab with this intolerant mongrel. She left without paying and told the driver that it was in the name if
terrible service. Her swore at her excessively and, despite the temptation to send the car flying like she would have years ago, Shard just got out of the car and began to strut ferociously down to the corner and down the driveway of the Institute. Years ago, she would have had that flatscans head on a platter and part of her wanted it on a platter now. The only flatscan who didn’t have to be on a platter was her grandmother and that was it! Then Shard began to question herself. She tried to educate a flatscan and not kill him. She gave him mercy not despair. She didn't want to kill him. She wanted to educate him.
What was going on? Was it all the criminal justice classes she was taking that was influencing her decision. She didn’t know anymore. Was this who she is? Is this who she wants to become? An educator of flatscans. Their protector and pursuer of mutant and human harmony. She knew that was only a fools dream. The only reason she stayed at the Institute was because Bishop told her too since the incident in the precinct. Just like he urged her to register with S.H.I.E.L.D., whose presence evidently was no more since after Apocalypse. Who knows what’s going on? All she knew was that she kind of liked who she was becoming and what she was achieving. Maybe being in the Xavier’s Institute was not so terrible an idea after all. I guess they are starting to rub off on them.
