I write a lot of poetry, so I decided to make one thread for all of it! =D
I'll be posting quite a bit up here.

Older poems first.

Music of Dusk
Night wraps its violet ‘round winter’s pale day
With echo and shadow and absence of light.
There’s a shape in the darkness, a flutter of gray
And you shiver and strain, lusting madly for sight.

A great silence spreads wing, not a whisper is spoken.
You wrench your eyes shut as you bite back a cry.
And suddenly, now, that dead silence is broken-
Further back in the wood sounds a musical sigh.

And a flurry of bass notes comes down on your ears
And they beat and they tear their way into your mind
Deadly, beautiful seconds blend through into years
And the music assaults you from front and behind.

And now you search vainly for morning’s stale musk-
How broken you are with the music of dusk.

Numb Traveler
A man carries on down a darkening path
His feet falling sure and gaze set on the sky
The wind creaks the trees with a menacing wrath
But he pays it no mind, not a flick of his eye.

All his life he was walked with no object in mind
With no love, no companion, through fear and confusion
People stop and they stare; he's not one of their kind-
Just a frightening sort of a drifting illusion.

He knows not what he wants, has no written direction
Has no one, has nothing, no weapons or wealth
He offers no comfort, provides no protection
It's all he can do to survive for himself.

Numb to the world, he is scorned, he is mocked
But look just how far this long-dead man has walked.

Guardian Angel
A timid shiver may steal down your spine
It’s all right; bury your face in my hands
I’ll watch over you ‘till the end of all time
I’ll fight off your fears, and I’ll make no demands.

I need you, you need me, we function together.
We’re one with each other; we breathe as one soul.
Life’s a long, twisting path, but a storm we can weather
With your gentle demeanor, my rage hot as coal.

Darkness settles around us, but there’s light from our eyes
We can make our way through, past the heat and the cold
Keep your hand safe in mine and your face to the skies
For you I can muster a strength that’s untold.

You’ve lived in a nightmare for all of your life
But I’m here to end it—I’ll bury your strife.

Whoa. You're awesome at writing poetry. I can never make my rhymes sound good, but that's amazing.

Standin' in line,
To see the show tonight
And there's a light on,
Heavy Glow.
By the way, I tried to say
I'd be there...

-By The Way- Red Hot Chili Peppers

Some claim to have the fortitude,
Too shrewd to flow the interlude,
Sustaining pain to set the mood
Step out to be renewed.

-Tell Me Baby- Red Hot Chili Peppers

I don't ever want to feel,
Like I did that day.
Take me to the place I love,
Take me all the way.

-Under the Bridge- Red Hot Chili Peppers

Yesterday,
All my troubles seemed so far away.
Now it looks as though they're here to stay.
Oh, I believe in Yesterday.

-Yesterday- The Beatles

Thanks. Rhyming can be tough, especially factoring in syllable count and everything.

More poems! =D These ones are more recent. As in, actually from this year.

Winter Raven
Black birds beat their wings on the white winter skies
Their dark selves are adorned with the pale jewels of the earth
Through the silence and stillness they scream their low cries
And bring mankind unease, age old symbols of mirth.

With flurry of feathers, on cold air they rise
Great black shapes taking wing through the snow and the ice
To be gifted with flight, power ancient and wise
Their vague darkness does serve to condemn, to entice

Faces pink with the cold turn to watch as they pass
Darting shadows that scream as they bask in the light
Struck by ice shards like shimmering pieces of glass,
They refuse to be grounded, to waver in flight.

In winter sounds a beating heart,
Fly screams that break the world apart.

Lost Time
My fingers are tangled in pale threads of time
Ripping through nine o’ clock and around half past four
Making ruin of the world as bells quietly chime;
Myself stands on a silent and far-distant shore.

Chaos rings from below, but birds sail high above
Quite regardless of man’s steady falling from grace
Time means nothing to pale-feathered wings of a dove
Nor to Earth’s other beasts, just the lone human race.

Our minds tear from our bodies, we watch ourselves fall
But reaction to pain has become far too scattered
The margins and barriers known to us all-
As calm panic descends, they are quietly scattered

We are starting to learn what it means just to be-
Has this tragedy set us all suddenly free?

Moonlight Wings
I walked into a place where my steps set on fire
Where trees intersected in moon’s silver light
Where the ground itself jeered, told me I was a liar
Where earth ends abruptly and fades into white.

Corners fells into nothing each way that I turned
Woodland crumbled away into deep, black abyss
My mind sought to follow, bring all that I’d learned
Into comfortable numbness, this agony’s kiss

My fear drew me closer, away from earth’s pain
Toward that place where there is only quiet existence
Its allure shone like spider webs drenched by the rain
And my thoughts itched to die, to cease every resistance.

But my face tilted up, and through layers of smoke
A bright moon beat on still, hung with pride in the sky
And beyond the scorched ground, the trees softly spoke
Begging that I would not fade, too- I would not die.

So I stumbled away from that whitening edge
And a hawk’s figure formed in the face of the moon
With a shrill cry of triumph, it soared toward the ledge;
Where its pale feathers fell, it brought beauty to ruin.

Its silver wings wrapped ‘round its moon-crafted form;
It dripped feathers like raindrops to push back the black
And they whirled about me like a gathering storm;
When it ceased, moonlight wings had been sewed to my back.

With a beat of those wings I rose up to the stars
Past the withering fire and still, choking smoke
Mindless of heat and my lingering scars
I brushed hearts with the moon, and a new era woke.

Now while you raise your prayers to the darkening skies
A secret admission of bright, wayward dreams
I pick out the hopeful ones through silver eyes
And ferry them back to that world without seams.

I have seen that void claim people thousands of times
Seen it crush out their talent to make them feel numb
Takes the pain from their hearts and erases their crimes
Blurs away the whole world, like a bottle of rum.
So I sit in the sky, watching minds turn to sand
Listening close as the black forest sings
Waiting for one to at last make a stand-
Waiting for one to inherit my wings.

Now when that day arrives and I fade back to dust
There will still be another to watch from the moon
Who will pick out the ones with new life’s quiet lust-
Who will listen, alert, as the night hums its tune.

Wow. This is wonderful!
I especially love the verse:

Mindless of heat and my lingering scars
I brushed hearts with the moon, and a new era woke.

It's lovely.

I can't sleep, so I'm gonna ramble a little poem to you guys.

He wanted their wings
He wanted the sky
The air
Everything, but nothing important-
Just that vast emptiness
That sky
That sky

He laughed at a saw blade
He laughed
He tapped his fingers on the rough edge
And laughed.
Because that sky,
It would belong to him.
So close
So close.

Blood on his hands
On those white wings
He gave them a mighty beat
And he moved higher
Higher
Higher

And then he fell.

No wonder I can't sleep -_-
Three minute poem, probably incoherent.
