WELCOME

IT'S BEEN SIX, WHOLE YEARS.
it's been six years since jack sparrow was mutinied upon and stranded on a deserted island; until he was rescued by rumrunners. six years since hector barbossa weaseled his way into jack's life and stole the cursed aztec gold of hernando cortez, earning himself an eternity of unquenchable hunger and thirst. it has been six years for most, but it has only been four short ones since weatherby and elizabeth swann came over on the hms british navy ship to their new home in port royal, rescuing william turner II in the process. but what will happen between now and the future? everyone's fates are inching closer; and sooner or later, they are definitely going to collide. But until then, what happens for the next four years? That is all up to you.

"Fant is an awesome site. I would know, since I'm a moderator there. :] It's such a nice, awesome, and organized community, filled with interesting people from different places. The RP itself is set in a dreamtime state, where Maleficent has caused everybody, heroes, villains -- you name it, to fall asleep. This way all of the characters can travel anywhere they want without a real explanation. Again, it's a great site and our first official affiliate, so I reccomend you take a look!"

First and foremost, welcome to BOUND; a pre-pirates of the caribbean, curse of the black pearl roleplay. I hope you enjoy your stay here. Be sure to read all of the rules and get everything in check -- make sure that this site is right for you and that you will be an active member in the community. :] Now that that's over, tallyho to the actual rules themselves!

    GENERAL RULES "

o1. Please, please, please follow the rules. If you don't there could be some consequences, perhaps even a ban. But really, they aren't that difficult to follow, so please don't be stupid, dysfunctional etc. and break them. :C I personally don't like banning/yelling at people, so seriously, I think we can compromise with the whole misbehavior thing and everyone can be happy. ie : you don't break the rules, i don't get pissed.

o2. Respect the staff, they moderate the boards and keep everything in check, and thus are usually quite busy and really don't need you prodding them with a stick and telling them to chop-chop and do stuff (review your profile, set up a board for your ship; the list goes on). We have lives outside of roleplaying; we promise we'll get things done. But if you choose to be a dumbass and piss us off, we don't mind eating you with a spork and ketchup. Really.

o3. BE LITERATE. Oh my jeebus, I can't stress this enough. Bound is an intermediate-advanced roleplay, meaning, you had better be able to make more than two good, full paragraphs, and you had better know how to spell. Know the difference between 'too', 'to', and 'two', between 'their' and 'they're', 'your' and 'you're' .. you get the point by now, I figure. But yes, please show me that you know how to write, I know that most excellent roleplayers like to post with other excellent roleplayers. :]

o4. Okay, here's probably one some of you may have been looking out for. The swearing rule. I understand that pirates and people of that time were pretty avid swearers, but I doubt they would've used some of the more profane words. Some of the lesser words probably came out of pirates' mouths often, so yes, you may use things like that in your posts, just don't do it in every line. Cursing doesn't make you more powerful. ;D Also, when cursing in posts, please stay IN CHARACTER. Weatherby Swann wouldn't go around screaming 'damnit' out in the street. He's a governor, not a sailor.

o5. HUZZAH, 'tis time for the post length rule. Now, I was pretty reluctant give numbers here (since numbers have that reputation for chasing away potential members on some sites), but I really want to make sure that any of the members here can easily be up to par and whip up something people can reply to without much trouble. So for now, the word count minimum for an average rp post is THREE HUNDRED WORDS and no less -- but more is always accepted and encouraged.

    o6. Respect other members, both as people and their opinions as well. Treat others how you would like to be treated, help out newbies if a staff member is absent; you know the drill. Being mean will get you nowhere, and if you're nice to other people, other people will probably be nice back to you, and it's handy to have friends around the site. Plus, I like it when my members get along and have fun, it makes me fuzzy inside. So do your best to provoke said fuzziness. Thanks. ^^;

o7. No real-life arguments may take place on the board. I don't care if it's about the site, about a person, or about an opinion, I won't stand for any conflict where I, or a passerby can see and read it. If you have a problem with someone, take it to PM's, or IM's (preferrably); or you could just say nothing to one another at all. It doesn't really matter to me, I don't want other people's issues becoming my own. However, if you are feeling that you are being harassed by another member or something else of that nature, and you feel that it is necessary to contact me for help, please do so. I will try and resolve the situation to the best of my ability. All I want are content members and a harmonious site.

o8. No powerplaying or godmoding. Really, you should know the drill by now if you an experienced enough of a roleplayer. If I catch you doing either of them, it'll be an immediate ban.

o9. No mary sue's or gary stu's. Nobody's perfect, and I don't care how skilled your character may be. Everyone MUST have flaws. If I find an application that has no flaws and suggests a perfect character, I will not accept it. Keep this in mind before you join.

    10. This board is rated pg13 - M for alcohol, violence, and probably some crude subjects. Your characters may do adult things, but not on the board. I have set up no place for it, so either take it to PM's or just say it happened and don't do it at all. I don't want visitors seeing posts of people doing the nasty all over the board when they first walk in to browse. D; .. Aaaand neither do I. Ever. It's not really that necessary, when you think about it. (On a sidenote that will be mentioned later, if you characters have children; everything is up to you. The staff will not post character traits. The mother or father may play them, or you can recruit someone to play them.)

    JOINING RULES "

o1. Sign up with a first, middle, and last name, all in lowercase. I can change it for you if you don't do this, but don't take advantage of it just because i can use my trusty admin control panel to fix careless mistakes. Plus, this rule is on every page, in the sidebar.

o2. Look at the Q&A if you have a question about your character or about the site. I think it's best if all issues are straightened out before you go run off and create your character.

o3. Follow the forms and templates I provide for you. They're really not that difficult. I promise. You can fancy them up however you'd like I suppose, but I really would prefer for everyone's character sheets to be in the same format. So if you can resist changing it and adding a bajillion of extra sections, please do.

o4. Quality over quantity in bios, and in everything. Remember that. I don't judge bios on how huge-ass they are; I decide by how interesting they are and how well you complete each section. Yet, quantity is a nice thing to include as well.. ;] But just make sure your bio is good and makes sense.

o5. Don't join with the EXACT same name as someone else. I can understand if there are two "Anne's", but don't take the same last name as someone unless you're related. There are tons of names out there, it's not that hard to find a befitting one that no one has taken yet.

o6. Be diverse. Although this is a pirate site, I don't want everyone joining as pirates and pirate captains! You've got your EITC, Navy, Commoners, Politicians etc. to choose from; we'd like to see some actual non-pillaging characters on the site. It's not like you can't talk to or meet pirates or whatever.

o7. Seperate accounts for each character. Sorry, I prefer it because everything is just more organized that way, and I can prettify everyone's accounts according to the character on them. So no, no two characters may be on the same account.

o8. You can have currently up to FOUR characters on the site. Two may be canons, or you can have all OC's, et cetera. Just remember to keep them all active, and try not to take on more characters than you think you can handle.

o9. Pay attention to what we are, and aren't accepting. If we are only accepting canons, you may only join the site as a canon. If we are accepting canons and OC's, then you can join as a canon.. or an OC. Get it? Got it? Goooood. C: And don't worry, a notice will be posted when we've changed who we're accepting.

    IN-CHARACTER FIGHTING RULES "

o1. NO POWERPLAYING OR GODMODING, GOSH DANGIT.

o2. A fight can happen anywhere. On shore, in the ocean, in the carribean or in the atlantic ocean. It's pretty much up to you. I figure that fights are untimely random and there shouldn't be on a certain board or anything.

o3. There are regular terms that apply to one-on-one, ACTUAL fights. (Not just like, a little bit of swordplay that's going to last two seconds and then someone runs away.) Four attacks, and one dodge. Now, I can understand how this kind of applies more to on-foot fighting, but this can work for nautical fights as well. Let's just say that, for the dodge, someone blew a canon and it just so happened to miss the entirety of your ship. That probably wouldn't happen often, because gunmen usually don't suck that bad, but y'know, it fits because of the one dodge I've given you.

o4. You can fight with weapons in hand to hand combat, of course! These can be involved in actual hardcore fights, or little two-second things as well. In your bio I will ask you to list your characters weapons, so equip yourself! ;D

o5. You may have noticed that I'm mentioning that there's a difference between actual fights, and quicky fights. Actual fights are something that a post is made distinctly for, like a hardcore, judgeable battle with another character. Quick ones are like in Tortuga when you smash a bottle over someone's head. Obviously the guy getting hit is going to be knocked out pretty hard.

o6. Speaking of judgeable fights, an admin or mod will always judge the ACTUAL fights. One of us will ref the fight and after all attacks are used, we will come to a conclusion of who is the rightful winner.

o7. Don't kill another person's character without their consent.

These are all the rules for now.
Keep checking back, they are liable to change.
