Despite the horrible name the Touché was one of the best nightclubs in near Crowne High School, it was Verah's personal favourite especially when she went out dancing and just to hook up with some random stranger or to get the latest gossip about the people who were there dancing that night. Normally it was packed by other students from Crowne but that particular night there were a couple of older male obviously perving over the young girls like her who had went there dancing.

Verah looked around the nightclub and not seeing anyone she knew she approached the bar and asked for some vodka, Verah didn't like drinking much but she adored Vodka; not enough to get drunk though, she had only once gotten drunk and it had been awfull so now she moderatted her drinks in order not to repeat said experience.

"Low" by Flo-Rida started playing and Verah smiled as she loved that song, if she just knew someone to dance with because dancing by herself would be slightly pathetic. She gulped her vodka down and looked at a nearby group of people, one of the boys winked at her and she smiled, seemed like she had just found her dancing partner. Skipping and smiling she approached the blonde boy just to have her smile be erased as she spotted someone she knew standing a few feet away from her: Dalton Ely Keller... a guy she had went out with a couple of times, so much for the blonde hottie.

It was past midnight but the night had only started for Dalton! He had only made out with a couple girls, not quite as many as he aimed for in a succulent night like this one, but he seemed to be getting there. The nightclub was a pretty good one. Touche. He enjoyed it there. Good atmosphere. Good drinks. Etc, etc, etc. There wasn't anything specifically wrong with it that was. And, of course, all the good girls went there. He sat at one end of the bar looking around to see if there was anyone he knew and wanted to talk to or make out with by the end of night or anyone who should best be avoided. There was one guy who had it in for him. This blonde guy. One time Dalton had accidentally taken him his girlfriend. Quite an unfortunate story. Dalton tried to hide himself from the guy, in hopes of getting home without getting into a fistfight. A couple of his guy friends from school, not that he had what most people would call friends. Maybe accquaintances were more like it. Let's face it Dalton tended to get along with girls, and not with the manly men though he did have a couple close friends. He nodded to the guys and continued to crowd surf with his eyes.

Finally he noticed a head of blonde hair, one that caught his eye in a different way than most. He saw she was talking to the blonde punk that had it in for him. Dalton watched with interest wondering who it was. When she turned around he realized it was Verah. Ahh Verah. A girl after his own blood. They had gone out a couple times. Mostly to clubs like this where one person was the other's ride. Meaningless things like that. They also had gone further than sitting in cars. But that was a raunchy story for another time. He enjoyed her presence but hers was just as large as quite a few other girls in his life. Sometimes Dalton though she might be something special. They got along better than he got along with a bunch of other girls. He saw her notice him and almost thought he saw a sense of dread fill her eyes. Well that was lovely. A girl who dreaded his presence. But Dalton would change that tonight. He smiled and made his way over to her and the blonde guy. He was willing to risk his neck this time.

"Well miss Veronica Claire Fischer. Fancy running into you tonight." He said with a smile plastered to his face. He eyed the blonde and said "I must say your standards are seeming to lower, what with you hanging out with this punk," Dalton smiled in an "I feel sorry for you, you little shit" sort of way and led her back to the other side of the bar, away from the asshole, back to his previous perch. Dalton would have pulled the height of cheesy and ask if she wanted a drink but he saw that she already had one. Which meant he'd have to think of a different icebreaker. "You're looking fantastic tonight, hope you're having a decent time here, I know my experience just got a little better," he said flirtatiously with a smile playing at his lips. Dalton put his hand on top of hers on the counter and shot the blonde a look over Verah's shoulder. He was staring daggers at Dalton. Apparently he had his eye on the blonde. Sucks for him. Dalton scored and won again. No surprises there. He gave the blonde a quick look before turning back to the girl he had stolen away, and was finding a bit of interest in.

dalton ely keller,
Love and love and happy afternoons
Watching TV from your room
While you're laying in my arms
And I know it's not fair to me
To see this love walk right by me
Every day, will we ever meet the right way

As she had thought Dalton had approached her and the other boy and stolen her from him, she had allowed Dalton to pull her away because there seem to be some kind of conflict between him and the blonde, not like she actually cared about it but at least she knew Dalton was serious and she didn't really know the other guy at all. She sat on the bar with him as she listened to the song play in the background, she was hoping Dalton would like dancing or else she would have to stay there talking and talking.

Unlike most of the people in school Verah actually did like Dalton, he seemed pretty similar to her, at least to her real self and not the fake nice all-american girl she pretended to be in front of everyone. She smiled as she watched the blonde boy, some Ryan Duke, shoot daggers through his eyes as Dalton placed his hand on top of hers, she allowed him to do so because she enjoyed seeing others suffer or get angry.

"Thanks, you look quite handsome yourself" she said with fake happiness, good thing she was such a great actress or else she would have been caught long ago about being fake "And yes, I think my night just became better too. I just wanted to go with Ryan since I didn't knew anyone else." she added and took one of her hands out from below his to take a sip from her glass "Aren't you drinking anything hun?" she asked placing the glass down.

Dalton sort of smirked at his newlyfound companion. She wasn't the brightest bulb. Seriously, she actually wanted to go with the blonde piece of meat that apparently had a name? Ryan? Seriously. What a loser. But now Dalton knew his name so all was well in the world. Sort of. He knew that if he heard that "Ryan" was going to a party that meant he might want to skip out or come very, very prepared. Good to know. Very good to know. Anyways, Dalton wasn't just talking to Verah to get knowledge about the blonde punk. No he had other priorities. Much better priorities. Less harmful priorities. You get the idea. He was also appreciating the compliments. Now, Dalton often got complimented. On his looks mostly. On his skill in bed and otherwise. Such matters. But whenever it was a girl like Verah, who could get bitchy if you really got down to it, now that meant something. Well, not really. It was sort of off handed. But compliments from pretty girls he was interested in got to Dalton in the best way. "Why thank you Verah, you'd be surprised at how much effort it takes," Dalton said, hinting at sarcasm. It was only partially true. He put some effort into his looks, yes. In the morning he took care of his hair and hygiene, and he thought about the clothes he bought and put on. But not all that much effort. Not as much as the average teenage girl. More than the average teenage boy. He had an image to keep up. Couldn't let it falter in the least.

"Well aren't you glad that I appeared and saved you from his tangles? Trust me, that Ryan kid is no picnic. I once took home his girlfriend (she went along with it) and you should have seen the hell he tried to raise," Dalton said with a smile playing at his lips, glancing back over Verah's shoulder at Ryan and smirking again. You could tell Ryan was pissed that Dalton had taken such a lovely, beautiful girl like Verah away from him and was far from happy about it. "You'd hate him. He's into longterm relationships. And serious ones. And one person at a time. You know, sort of a polar opposite of myself.". Now maybe Dalton was stretching the truth just a bit there, but for the most part it was true. That's why Ryan was so much fun to taunt. To take girls away from.

Dalton looked Verah back in the eyes when she asked him a question. He looked over at her glass to see what she was drinking. Vodka. Lovely. He had to admit she had some form of class, especially since she wasn't getting trashed on the alcohol. Most girls were like that. It's what made them so easy to take advantage of. They would get drunk as possible on alcohol, making Dalton's life that much easier. Girls who didn't get as drunk were a lot harder to manipulate into his favor. But not a girl like Verah. She was one after his own taste, and who knew, she might be manipulating him as he manipulated her. It was all one big headgame with Dalton. He liked to psyche people out, and mess with their heads. Turning their opinions, turning their trust. All in good fun, never anything too serious. He would never take advantage of a girl too seriously because let's face it, that was too low even for him. He just used his advantage slightly, for a couple kisses and sometimes he even got them home safely. No one needed drunk drivers on the streets. So maybe he was a good samaritan...yeah right. Far from. He did realize though that he hadn't had much to drink this particular night. Nothing really yet, he was getting a natural high from the atmosphere. "Not yet...not quite yet. Haven't decided what I want for tonight yet." He smiled at her and reached over for her glass to take a sip from hers. Dalton put the glass back down and looked back at her. "So where have you been all this time? Hiding from me?" he asked this all playfully but it really was an honest question. They hadn't seen much of each other in a while. Dalton looked her in the eyes, which could get slightly intimidating for some girls (always good fun psyching people out), and waited for an answer.

Verah contained herself from rolling her eyes, she knew about Ryan's need for a girlfriend but she wasn't at all worried about that, after all guys were guys and they had only two ways to think with their head or well... with their other head, which was normally the case with High School students, if you knew where to push and when to do moves you could easily get them to do what you wanted to and then ditch him, that was the beauty of being a girl, guys had protocoles to approach them but girls could do whatever they wanted and worst thing that could happen would be being called a "whore" or a "slut" which didn't bother Verah one bit.

"Boys are boys Dalton, you know you can only think with one tool at the time" she said and placed one of her hands in his upper leg teasingly just to remove it seconds after when he took her drink and sipped from it, Verah smiled sweetly at him as he placed it back in the table.
"Not yet...not quite yet. Haven't decided what I want for tonight yet."
"You'll find someone, I mean something to drink" she winked and finished what remained on her glass before looking at Ryan again, he glanced at her and frowned acting offended but she didn't care, he was dull either way, he did the same moves over and over and all he seemed to be good at was dancing.

"So where have you been all this time? Hiding from me?" Verah shifted on her seat uncomfortable, she managed to make a pretty good smile though to cover up her desperation. Damn had those acting lessons payed off. She placed her hand back on top of his as she thought of a good lie to tell.
"Busy, trying to pass classes and stuff. You know, its not easy with old teachers" she said jokingly but truthfully, Verah tended to rely on her looks or on other people to pass her classes as she couldn't be bothered to do the work herself. Another song started playing and her heart skipped a beat, she loved that song... damn, she should have went with Tina and Mabelle instead of by herself and that way she would have been dancing by now. "Its not like you called me or anything either way" she added a little distracted by the people dancing around.

Dalton smiled at Verah. He realized that she was honestly making him happy tonight. It was seldom that that actually happened. Girls made him happy, yeah but most of the time in a sexual way and not this genuine deep way. The kind that made him drop his sleazy womanizing outer layer sometimes. It just sort of happened around these typed. He had had one before. And then she threw him away and ran off to get married with some shmuk. It had hurt well enough, but Dalton had his own coping mechanisms. He drank his troubles away, and he started acting more and more insane and sleazy when it came to women. He felt horrible about it, yes, but it continued until he healed. And then once he did, Dalton sometimes even thought that a small part of that hurt broken up self of him was left under there. Somewhere. It was probably part of the reason he never let himself get close with anyone. He didn't want to let them hurt him. He smiled at her comment about men and could feel himself heat up internally when she put her hand on his leg. Yet again not in a sexual way. Just because Dalton almost felt they were making a different sort of contact in this conversation.

She gave some bullshit excuse to his question though. Something about passing classes. They both knew that neither of them really cared about that shit. School. Dalton did on some level, he wanted to get by, but that didn't require effort. So how much caring was that really? He knew how she really got by but that wasn't a good conversation. Because he didn't think that was the sort of thing that you're supposed to talk about when chatting so amiably with a good friends, like Verah and Dalton were. On some plain of existence, not that he quite knew what it was yet. He realized his guard was dropping a little bit, so he felt himself put back up the wall of steal that kept girls from seeing that side of him. Let's face it, Dalton would never be the sensitive and mysterious guy. He was upfront about what he wanted from girls, in all senses (not only the sexual) and Dalton was pretty blunt about his comments most of the time. Quiet he was not, sensitive he was not. Dalton was a rock. Hard and emotionless. Most of the time. On the outside at least. On the inside he wasn't really sure what he was yet. "Its not like you called me or anything either way" The comment brought him back into reality and took Dalton aback a little. He had never thought to call her really. Well, that was a lie. He had thought about it. Thought about ringing her and asking Verah out on a real date. But he was scared, and it wasn't his style. And Dalton wasn't one to betray his own style. Never. He stuck to what he was and what he knew.

He still wasn't sure what to say and watched her, watching the people dancing together. It was a somewhat slowish song, as slow as they got in these clubs, the kind that "couples" are supposed to dance to. Well, yes and no. It probably could have gone either way. The last one had finished, one of the really intense thrashing mosh pit ones. Dalton wasn't much of a dancer but he usually got his ass out onto the floor anyways. Girls liked that in a guy. And the sensitive ones were the ones on the side. "I wasn't sure how to do that Verah...I wanted to call you but that meant-" Dalton cut himself off. This wasn't the right time, not the right place for this conversation. He looked at her again, longer, taking her in. Taking in who she was and what she was doing. It was almost as if she was trying to hide something under that smile. Something that Dalton just couldn't tap into, no matter how well he understood people. Verah was hiding something, and he had no idea what it was or even if it had to do with him. But something was pulling him from inside. Dalton turned his hand over under hers and grabbed hers as he stood up. "Come on beautiful, let's dance". He pulled her out onto the floor and then into him. Something was escaping from him. Maybe it was softness, maybe it was a heart. But Dalton stopped fighting it and just let himself dance with her. "Sometimes I don't know what to think of you," he said to her before he had the chance to stop the words. Dalton looked down at her for a minute, wondering what her response would be. Wondering if she'd take it the wrong way. Wondering where the hell this runaway train was going.

Was he appologizing? Verah tried to keep her face straight so he wouldn't notice that she thought he was bieing dumb, why appologize about a call he never did and might have not intended to do? But then he stopped and looked at her, at her smile was he trying to read her? Because there was no chance in hell he would ever do that, she was too damn good of an actress to let her real emotions to show, imagine if that happened... then she would be in some serious trouble and shd wouldn't be half as popular as she was.

"Come on beautiful, let's dance" finally he had asked her out, she smiled genuinly this time as he took her hand and guided her to the dancefloor. It was a relief knowing he had some balls to ask her out and not just to reproduct, she patted herself in the back for that thought. She didn't say anything though and instead focussed on swaying and following the rhytm along with Dalton who seemed not to enjoy dancing as much as she did. Whatever Verah didn't want him because he was a good dancer or because he was good looking, which by the way he was not -not at least from his shoulders up either way-

"Sometimes I don't know what to think of you," he suddenly said, Verah tried not to frown as she heard that comment, she could not show how much of a bitch she really was and had instead to stick to her bubbly personality act.
"What do you mean?" she asked cheerfully and smiling as if she hadn't gotten the fact he was being slightly insultive. She shugged her shoulders and continued to dance as if it had been nothing important what he had said even though inside she was boiling and wanting to slap him right across the face "You know, I really like this song" she said as the song changed to a slightly faster song.
