POWER(S): Spike, being a vampire, has the abilities of such. However, he is more advanced than the normal vampire and excels in both armed and unarmed combat. He is not the ordinary vampire as his strength, reflexes, agility and speed have been enhanced to superhuman levels. Spike is more powerful than most vampires which is probably due to his age, mentality and strength thanks to his bloodline. Like all vampires, Spike is ageless and has proven to be difficult to kill. He has somewhat of a regenerative healing factor allowing him to heal far greater than the average human, as well as most vampires, and is highly resistant to poisons, alcohol included. Lethal poisons won't even kill him and seeing as he doesn't need to breathe, he cannot be asphyxiated in any way. Also, it should be noted that when he does feed, the inner demon of his vampire nature is revealed, with elongated canines and sharper, stronger upper incisors capable of sinking his teeth into human skin rather easily. During the process of feeding, he also gains something of an adrenaline rush in which his superhuman abilities are further enhanced which puts him in a state of euphoria.

Spike also has other heightened senses, such as nocturnal vision, allowing him to see into the dark of the night; the smallest hint of light allows him perfect sight if be needed. He also has heightened hearing, allowing him to hear a pin drop through the opposite side of a wall. His sense of taste is considerably heightened, his best enhanced sense yet as compared to the others, even when compared to other vampires. He can smell fear from a mile away, as well as tracking people via scent and the tiniest drop of human blood in a large area. His sense of taste seems to be augmented in terms of blood. Using this sense, Spike is able to taste disease, drugs, and even age along with other numerous things just by tasting their blood.

He has no reflection; therefore his image is incapable of being reflected back at him. He cannot be seen in mirrors though he can be seen in photo and video. It is impossible to read his mind due to the fact his mind doesn't reflect either. Spike has proven to be effective in torture, as well as able to withstand great amounts of injury for extended periods of time, especially when motivated.

OVERALL: William Pratt, the man who would soon be referred to as Spike, was often the "Momma's Boy" when time called for that kind of nurturing. He was known as a shy lover and a bloody awful poet, which gained him his nickname "William the Bloody". He was nothing short of a loser and lived to see the beauty in life, in the things around him. However, all of this seemingly changed and for the better once he was sired by Drusilla and transformed into a vampire. Following the loss of his soul, William was a forever changed man. He became rather sadistic and cruel, going as far as killing his own mother after he changed her to save her from tuberculosis. He had to, he had no other choice. Once she changed, she was rather twisted and mocked and taunted William. It drove him mad to see her in that twisted state. Afterwards, he went on to brutally murder any man, woman and child that got in his way. Going "too far" was never an option for William and he became a confident vampire that loved the rush one gets from the feeding.

Ironically enough, Spike went from a shy, loving man who would never hurt a fly into a thrill seeker of combat. There is nothing this bad ass vampire loves more than a good bout with anyone brave enough to challenge him, especially Angelus, as the two have a past history together. It was noted that for a short time, Spike didn't care who's side he was fighting on, but that he was fighting period. His love for combat is unmatched by any other vampire and his compassion for combat plays an important role with his personality as a whole. There is nothing better to him than rushing into a bloody good fight where he, being the underdog, can emerge victorious. He does prefer to be the underdog in any battle, as it makes him feel particularly better about defeating an opponent knowing he went in physically weaker and emerged from the battle having used his wits, fists, and maybe even a good weapon. He finds the very act of violence therapeutic in a sense. He is a swaggering, confident vampire with a lust for battle and destruction with a complete disregard for any higher authority.

Spike has a dry, sarcastic sense of humor, a swaggering posture, and enjoys living by no one's rules save his own. He has been known for his insults and pithy remarks, most of all to Angel who is among his favorite targets. He often picks on Angel about being a 'strapping hero' as well as his constantly groomed appearance and this rivalry dates back to the mid 1800's when Spike was sired by Drusilla. The two have been rivals ever since that day and both have retained themselves from tearing one another limb from limb as of recent. After Spike gained his soul back, he has become quite the annoyance for his old friend and is motivated by his love for either Drusilla or Buffy, herself. He has claimed that staking vampires puts things in perspective for him as a way to release his pent-up aggression. More often than not, Spike has been noted for breaking the necks of those he considers "too old" to eat. When he is faced by a being physically more imposing than himself and much stronger by far, Spike proves he is nearly unbeatable and that boosts the confidence he has for himself.

As a means of insult, Spike often nicknames those within his immediate vicinity and it can sometimes be taken as a term of endearment. He uses slang and speaks with a strong English accent. Spike has retained certain qualities from his human side, and has embraced his human nature, such as love and loyalty. Others include poetry, songs, and literature. He also has a taste for human food and drink such as beer, whiskey, hot chocolate with his beloved marshmallows, chocolates, Buffalo wings and onion blossoms. A cigarette is in order most of the time and he is often seen with one, as many vampires do smoke, using the traditional silver Zippo lighter. Spike often treats his vulnerability to the sun as an annoyance rather than a weakness and/or limitation. As such, he drives vehicles with blacked out windows during the day and he regularly ventures to the outdoors using a blanket for cover. Spike shares an odd love for video games such as Donkey Kong and Crash Bandicoot, often playing a Gameboy Advance when bored. In contrast to Angel, Spike's personality remains the same, soul or not.

Having regained his soul, Spike is a Champion for good, even if his anti-heroic methods differ from the "way of the hero". Following this, he has considered himself to be Angel's better after he defeated Angelus for the title of Champion. While Angel was cursed with his soul, Spike went through many hardships willingly in order to get his back. He had to fight his way through many grueling obstacles in order to retain his soul and he often rubs that in Angel's face to annoy him. So, in conclusion, while Spike may not act like the goody-goody hero, he is definitely a force of good and willingly fights by the sides of both Angel and Buffy when they need him. It also helps that the chip he had implanted controls his thirst for human blood... In some disgusting, sick joke of a way. He hates that damn thing.

OVERALL:

William "The Bloody", as he was known for his poetry being "bloody awful", became a constant state of humiliation for him. He was born in London, England to his mother Anne and his father was nowhere around. Pratt was an ineffectual gentleman who tried his best to write good poetry and literature, but was ultimately ridiculed for his attempts thus earning him the nickname "William The Bloody". There was no other way of saying it, Pratt was a true mama's boy and she would often sing him the song "Early One Morning" when he was just a baby, and right up to the time when he was older as well. A struggling poet, Pratt was mocked by his peers behind his own back and they often ridiculed him for his poor attempts at becoming a true poet.

It was 1880, and William had come across a beautiful woman named Cecily who he claimed he had loved. Pratt was known for his strong capacity for loyalty and devoted love but it was not enough to gain Cecily as his lover. Every romantic gesture and overture was rejected by the aristocratic Cecily and his once and former "love" ended with a broken heart. Wandering the streets one night, alone and depressed at what had just happened, Pratt ran into a very gorgeous woman with long dark hair; Her name was Drusilla. She ended up giving him both moral and emotional strength, affording comfort and solace, and she ended up biting him. This bite caused Pratt to become a vampire, and after he transformed he didn't have the urge to kill anyone in his family like the others did.

He was always close to his mother and he found no delight in even thinking about killing her, because he was so close to her. He later found out that his mother, Anne, had tuberculosis and in order to prevent her from dying he bit her and she became a vampire. This later turned out to be a regret as she taunted her son, insinuating that he always had a sexual fascination with her. Pratt could not bear to see his mother as a twisted individual and in retaliation, he staked her and killed her. Later, he eventually wrote a poem about it all entitled "The Wanton Folly of Me Mum". Afterwards, both Pratt and Drusilla began a new life together and he was devoted to her so much. He was in a state of happiness, almost euphoric, and over time he developed a North London accent started to embrace both violence and impulsive behavior.

It wasn't long before he thought of a suitable fictional name for himself, due to his habit of torturing his victims with the common railroad spike. Ultimately, he referred to himself only as "Spike". This was ironic as previously, one of his peers had mocked his poetry stating: ""I'd rather have a railroad spike through my head than listen to that awful stuff," therefore it could be said that this is the reason he killed and tortured people with railroad spikes. However, Spike and Drusilla were not alone and a vampire by the name of "Angelus" tagged along with them and had terrorized Europe and Asia for nearly two long decades. It was known that Spike had a very hard time accepting Angelus because he was Drusilla's lover, in which they continued their sexual relationship despite Spike's strong disapproval.

Whereas Angelus regarded killing as an art, Spike did it for the amusement and the rush. This did not work over well with Angelus though it did seem as if he enjoyed Spike being there with them, as another male for the travels. Spike's eagerness to battle worried Angelus, and considered his behavior a risk.

In 1894, Spike found that he and Angelus had to put aside their differences as they made a new rival in a being who called himself "The Immortal". Throughout the 1900's, Spike acted as both a vampire and as an experiment. He killed his first Slayer in China during the Boxer Rebellion, and soon afterwards he was captured by the Nazis for experimentation procedures. By the 1950's, Spike had reunited with his love Drusilla and they shared a romantic time when they traveled to Italy. It was also noted that Spike actually attended Woodstock and in respect for the music there, he dressed like Billy Idol and boarded a subway train where a Slayer had been waiting for him. Nikki Wood was her name and it was New York City, 1977 where he fought and killed the Slayer taking her leather trench coat/duster and wearing it for himself.

Sunnydale, California was a pretty peaceful place but it had its best known Slayer, Buffy Summers. Spike arrived in Sunnydale, with Drusilla by his side, and he was known for being one of the "Big Bad's" that were regulars in attacking Sunnydale. His first attempt at killing Buffy occurred during her school where he planned to attack her and a large group of people, proving that he was perhaps the deadliest of any of Buffy's previous foes. With Drusilla by his side, Spike proved to Buffy that vampires can be affectionate towards one another, and they would often display the humanity and intricacies of vampire relationships. However, Drusilla becomes extremely weakened thanks to angry mob in Prague, and being the devoted lover that he is Spike took her to the Hellmouth and had hoped that its energy could restore her strength.

It is during this time that Spike is reunited with Angel, and is disgusted by Angel for having a soul and for falling in love with Buffy Summers. Angel lost his soul once again and began pursuing Drusilla which furthered Spike's hatred for him during what was to be a celebration, but turned out to be nothing but resentment. Angelus started to pursue Drusilla as a lover and often taunted Spike which caused the "Big Bad" to ally with his mortal enemy; Buffy. Together, they had to stand against Angelus. Buffy later found out that while Spike wanted Drusilla back, he also wanted to save the world because he knew how devastating and how powerful Angelus could be. In a drunken depression, Spike was dumped by rusilla for a "Chaos Demon" and while he began torturing people to get her to like him again, it failed horribly and he realized he was meant to be alone.

Spike later realized that Drusilla dumped him because she felt he was going soft, and he made it perfectly clear to both Buffy and Angel that they would never be friends, ever, no matter what happened, because of their love for one another.

Due to his previous allying with Buffy Summers, Spike began dating Harmony Kendall who proved to be nothing but shallow. He was captured by "The Initiative" and had a microchip implanted inside of him that, much to his dislike, prevented him from harming humans. It was during this time that Spike - completely out of his nature - turned to the Scooby Gang for help and protection. His inability to bite proved to be quite annoying and could even be comically compared to that of impotence, much to his humiliation constantly. Spike become an unofficial member of the Scooby Gang and would help them out for a small price in return: cash. However, he had no problem with betraying them to other villainous or rivaled individuals.

To his horror, Spike become aware of some erotic dreams that involved himself and Buffy Summers. He started to realize that he began falling in love with Buffy. It was then that he always found himself jumping into Buffy's fights to aid her, protect her, whether she wanted his help or not; he became rather active within the Scooby Gang, more so than normal. Meanwhile, Spike has become fully aware of "Angel Investigations" and isn't hesitant about reuniting with his "old friend" and maybe bust some heads like old times. Sunnydale, California hasn't been peaceful since the demons, vampires and otherworldly creatures started to show up and Spike - along with Buffy and the others - have vowed to take on these forces and ultimately end their miserable lives; Spike has anyway. With the Hellmouth located somewhere in Iowa, the same Hellmouth he risked himself to close once before, there's no telling what will happen next. All that is known thus far is that Spike, while he has been hesitant with the Scoobies, is prepared for anything and everything thrown his direction.
