personality
Millie Azure. What is there really to say about her? Or… where should I begin? Perhaps I should begin with the Millie everyone sees. To the outside world, she is your typical rich pureblooded Slytherin: selfish and shallow, cold and cruel.
In the small world of the House of Slytherin, you could ask anyone who the “top” people were and three names would come to mind: Draco Malfoy, Pansy Parkinson, and Millie Azure. The girls’ names were only included, however, because they were the two longest holders of the title “Draco’s Arm Candy,” along with which came the title “Slytherin Princess.” Both girls still laid claim to the latter of the two titles, and both girls gained a posse of fake friends who wanted nothing more than to be in the spotlight by being seen with the girl really in said spotlight. For Millie, this resorted in what I like to call the “Cordelia Chase Syndrome,” which simply states that no matter how many people surround you, you still feel incredibly and irreversibly alone. Because of this syndrome, the real Millie hated her otherwise perfect life; however, there was another stronger part of her that loved every minute of it.
Mem. To put it simply, Mem was an entirely different person that shared both Millie’s body and soul. It was because of Mem that Millie was thrown into this crazy Slytherin world in the first place for Mem was the true Slytherin, the true Pureblood Extremist, the true Death Eater, and the true Murderer. If not for Mem, Millie would be a peaceable Ravenclaw, content to keep to her studies and argue with her brother, Zachary, who would still be alive. To be perfectly honest, Mem is the reason Millie is who she is. Mem, being the stronger humanly essence in the body, has suppressed Millie’s true personality, replacing most of it and polluting the rest with her own. Mem has, quite literally, eclipsed Millie’s whole self, the true Millie being the sun and Mem being the moon.
The Millie behind the moon is a much softer, gentler Emily “Millie” Elizabeth Azure. she is a young woman that yearns to be known for who she is and loved for it. The true Millie longs to have true friends, friends that want to get to know the real her and friends that won’t see human kindness as a weakness. She wants to escape the iron-clad grasp Mem has on her. Unfortunately, that grasp is strong.
The chance to break free rarely shows its head, but when it does Mem quickly plant the doubt in Millie’s thoughts. All it takes is the reminder of how everyone would treat her if they found out what she was doing, the disappointment her parents would suffer if their only living child didn’t turn out as a perfect pureblood representative. The doubt always spread quickly in Millie’s mind. She allowed the open door to close and more often than not, found the party that had opened it too put off to try again, once more leaving the true Millie hidden and allowing Millie Azure to remain the girl eclipsed by evil, destined to forever remain Princess of Slytherin… …or is she?
history
Emily “Millie” Azure was born on July 29th, 1980 to Dymitri Azure and Vivian Dowicker. The young couple had only just finished up their seventh year at Hogwarts the month before the girl was born. Even then, they had already had one child, a son name Zachary, two years older than his sister. The couple was married that October, two year old Zachary tottering down the isle carrying the ring pillow, his paternal grandfather walking beside him, carrying Millie, a bouquet of flowers being waved around excitedly in the young girl’s hands.
Her first years passed quietly. Unfortunately, her earliest memory is not a pleasant one. When she was four, one of the Crups her mother was breading bit her on the nose. The bite left her with a scar, a mark still noticeable today if you look close enough. Because of that day, Millie still has a very strong dislike for the creatures, a dislike that is only strengthened every time her mother puts them over her.
When she was five, her parents had their honeymoon, leaving Millie and Zach with with Dymitri’s sister, Ari. Ari had married a Muggleborn, Christopher Nalik, and had been disowned by her family because of it and was only contacted when absolutely necessary. The children spent a week with their aunt and uncle, during which time their cousin, Matthew- a Squib -taught them how to play cards. He even let Millie keep the deck of cards. The card games were one of the few things Millie can still remember, and to this day she still plays Solitaire when she’s alone. She hasn’t seen Ari, Christopher, or Matthew since that week.
The rest of her early years were rather uneventful. As expected, she received her Hogwarts letter on the summer of her eleventh birthday. There had never been a single doubt in her parents’ minds that she would be accepted to the school and sent her off to her first year without a second thought. Much to their relief, she was sorted into Slytherin with her brother. They had had their doubts about her house and always had a silent fear that she would be sorted into Ravenclaw instead. Life went on as normal, and, though it went unnoticed, Millie developed a brain to rival Hermione Granger's. It was as though she had a lust for knowledge, for in knowledge comes power.
The summer before her fourth year, her life took a drastic turn. Her brother pushed her much too far, and her built up anger, hatred, pain all spilt out, forming a completely separate half of this young teenage woman. This half went too far, torturing and, finally, murdering Zachary. Her father was furious. Not only had he lost his only son, but he had lost his heir as well. He punished Millie severely, going as far as using the Cruciatus Curse on her. When he dismissed her from his office that evening, he silently disowned her, vowing never again to look upon her as his true daughter but merely as a brat that got in the way and spent his money.
That summer, her mother told her more about being a Death Eater, about what it meant and what was in store for her fourth year. Vivian told her the mark on her arm had been growing stronger, that it was a sign that Voldemort, the Dark Lord, was growing stronger. It wasn’t until the end of her fourth year that the news came, the news she had been waiting all year to hear. Potter, of all people, brought news to the school that Voldemort was back when he returned with Cedric Digeroy’s body. Ever the actress, she concealed her excitement, knowing that at that very moment, her parents were in that graveyard with Him. It was only a matter of time before she joined them…
Sure enough, not even a week into that summer, the Dark Lord visited her home with an offer she couldn’t refuse. Now that he was back, he was looking for more followers. Millie’s parents had told him she would be more the willing to join him, that she’d be perfect for his ranks. She had killed her own brother, after all. On the evening of July 2nd, 2005, Millie proudly became a Death Eater.
