khell - January 17, 2005 12:44 AM (GMT)
manga recommendations doesn't matter if it's scanlated, licensed as long as it's good! or maybe a new series is being scanlated, tell us :D
i recommend... kare kano
if you've seen the whole ep1-26 anime series then i guess you're better off starting at volume 9, i've seen vol 1-8 and what you saw in the anime is pretty much the same as the manga

Besides Negima, get School Rumble. If you love comedy, romance, and action, this is your bag.
ChaosHawk - January 29, 2005 04:14 AM (GMT)
I highly reccomend XXXHolic. I'm reading it now and have been thorouhgly enjoying it.
ChaosHawk - January 29, 2005 04:50 AM (GMT)
Has anyone else notcied that for such as mediocre manga, the covers for AI Love You are AWESOME!!
DJcream - February 3, 2005 11:45 PM (GMT)
Here's a couple of my recommendations. I try to keep a theme of bein' Korean manga brought out by Tokyopop.
Snow Drop: So-Na is the mayor's only daughter. She enters high school, trying to make a new beginning; however, her crush on moody Hae-Gi could send her to a steamy relationship or a troublesome squabble. Perhaps, she can be with him without releasing the demons of the past.
Neck and Neck: Dabin is the daughter of Seoul's most powerful crime boss. As she transfer's out of her high school into her crush's/father's best teenage bussinessman, she finds herself in the same class with the son of a rival gang! Can Dabin find love without turning the school into a turf war?
Love or Money: Yenni is person in the school where you can ask for a loan. However, she has a strict interest payment system along with a low tolerance when she isn't paid back. When her rich grandmother dies, Yenni has a chance to earn 14 million bucks. However, everything in life isn't always free. Yenni must stop her money hungry ways and marry a man her grandmother already picked out. Yenni struggles to revert from seeing green to seeing pink or else she won't see a single penny.

I just finished readin' volume 4 and the more I read, the more I get in tuned with spirituality. CLAMP shows a lot of originality in story tellin', especially in the short chapters like chapters 21, 25 and 26. The Monkey Paw chapters makes a really good campfire story.
Pariah164 - February 15, 2005 05:08 PM (GMT)
I agree wiith Snow Drop and xxxHolic.
If you're a CLAMP fan, I highly recommend Legal Drug and Suki... Both are awesome.
Also, the two art books have been released! I saw North Side and South Side at Borders the other day!
Gouka Ryuu - February 16, 2005 11:11 PM (GMT)
If we're talking about CLAMP we have to talk about Tokyo Babylon and X, their penultimate work. The whole relationship between Subaru and Seishero is wonderful. If you've read X first and then read Tokyo Babylon like i have it's rather creepy how Subaru and Seishero treat each other. Anyways even Kamui is a cool character, I mean both Fuma/Kamui is a wonderful character too. I'm jealous of my friend's Kamui plushie!
ChaosHawk - March 13, 2005 09:23 AM (GMT)
Warcraft: The Sunwell Trilogy............wow
These are like.....awesome. The art is amazing and the story is a refreshing take on the Warcraft story. If your a Warcraft fan then I highly recommend this manga.

Manga Recomm ??????
HELLSING
b3arz3rg3r - March 15, 2005 08:59 PM (GMT)
Hmm there are several which come directly to my mind
Bleach - typical shounen fighting manga but for once the hero is really cool
Gantz - well only for those with a stomach for blood, it's cool stuff but somewhat crazy, wait a minute somewhat? the protagonist acts as if he were on drugs
Beck - best music manga ever. what, you don't think there can be cool music manga? believe me you are wrong
berserk of course look at my nick as if I would not recommend this one
gunnm - the uncrowned king of cyberpunk
GTO - the manga is even better than the anime and that was really good except for the damn english syncro which I had to endure from the 20th episode onwards
My last tip Tsukuyomi Moon Phase I don't know right what is better anime or manga but I really like them both, I don't even know why I like them I just do
Kai - March 15, 2005 11:33 PM (GMT)
Does anyone know if the Viz translations of Bleach are any good? or have they been heavily westernised?
Juan|nauJi - March 16, 2005 04:27 PM (GMT)
Mahoraba ~heartful days~
Ichigo Mashimaro
Maechan Awakens Romance [MAR]
And if you're a fan of Star Ocean Till The End Of Time, you might wanna try the manga too.
Raretralogit - March 16, 2005 04:29 PM (GMT)
 Mahoraba ~heartful days~
Where did you buy it?
Juan|nauJi - March 16, 2005 04:52 PM (GMT)
Comic Connection. There's four so far, published by Tongli.
The chinese title's ‰ä˜ì“Iå‹«Since the chinese's sorta screwed-up,
here's a picture instead. Don't mind the handwriting.
jopchan121 - March 16, 2005 04:53 PM (GMT)
I looked and there is a book at Sasuga Japanese Bookstore. Alas, it is only book 8, I think.....
Juan|nauJi - March 16, 2005 04:57 PM (GMT)
Book 8!?!?
[prays it's japanese]
Btw, that place's not in Singapore, right?
jopchan121 - March 16, 2005 05:01 PM (GMT)
Raretralogit - March 16, 2005 05:01 PM (GMT)
 could not see a thing from the site..... hmm.....
jopchan121 - March 16, 2005 05:07 PM (GMT)
Here's the link to that book. I may get that with the Negima fanbook and Negima book 9.....
Raretralogit - March 16, 2005 05:11 PM (GMT)
>.< Kind of hard to find using only the cover page.....Juan, can you give me the rough Chinese to english translation?
Juan|nauJi - March 16, 2005 05:36 PM (GMT)
Rough translation's kinda hard because I don't know what the heck Tongli did with the title to change it to such a weird word.
Hope hanyin pinyin works though, "wo3 men2 de3 xian1 jing4"
"Wo Men De" = "our", "xian1" = "god/fairy/immortal", jing4 = "boundary"
Here's another pic since the other one's not working
Raretralogit - March 16, 2005 06:07 PM (GMT)
 Okay..... Think I will try seraching all the conic connection store for it...

hell I bought all 16 volumes @ otakon, reading them all (eventhough I watched the anime already) up to vol. 04 so far.
kenichan - October 6, 2005 04:15 AM (GMT)
Death Note anyone? I just admire the anti-heroism the main character portrays...
Ai-Ren's also an interesting love story for a Korean mangaka....Try Tidwah Releases..I think they still have some scanalated chapters...
Balthazars - January 21, 2006 11:48 AM (GMT)
Lookie here, I was just exploring the forums (haven't had a real proper look around yet...) and no one appears to have posted here for a while...surely people haven't run out of recommendations?
I've got a few:
Currently Collecting:
Samurai Deeper Kyo: currently gathering this manga as it slowly, painstakingly, agonizingly comes out from Tokyopop, but the work is good. A good (if a little crazy) story, awesome artwork (probably the best manga artwork I've ever seen!), and really cool characters. This is one I recommend to all samurai fans.
Bleach: Only one person recommended it! It's a lot more than your typical shounen fighting manga, it's got one of the best stories i've read in quite a while, complicated and good enough to send your mind into trips trying to figure it out (but in a good way!) and an excellent mix of action and comedy. Currently it stands hands-down as the best, most authentic manga-to-anime transfer i've seen yet.
FullMetal Alchemist: This one is slow, slow, slow (only released once per month) and I tend to be very delayed in picking it up, but it's good fun, and it's got a very serious and highly engaging story.
From the Vault:
Vandread: it's an oldie and it's pretty simple but i really enjoyed this 'road trip' through space. Nice mix of girl-meets-guy kinda relationship issues, space battles, and comedy. One of the first series to really get the CGI into anime too.
FullMetal Panic: Fumuffo: Funny as hell, and so spastic that it should be considered a danger to national security!
Paracelsus - January 21, 2006 04:36 PM (GMT)
MEH
Gakuen Heaven, Shakugan no Shana, Kasimasi, Ah! My Goddess and Full Metal Panic.

Would any of the AQS staff be interested in To Heart manga?
If yes, I'm sure you'll be able to find more people interested in joining the team to cover some of the extra work.
Za_Paper - January 24, 2006 08:09 PM (GMT)
YOTSUBA&! - Funny, charming, and adorable. It was my favorite new manga of 2005 and it's by the same manga-ka of Azumanga Daioh.
Chrono Crusade - Action-packed, entertaining, and funny with great solid artwork.
