Alright, after reading about these for awhile and seeing that all of my friends from tons of other forums have them, I think it's time AQS gathers some members, get skype or a free online voice program, and buckle down for some...

Podcasting.

With AQS's popularity growing, from all the Negima stuff and the opening of the Air and Kanon site, or just new interest in anime we've had for awhile, it's time to cash in on this...minus the cash.

Alright, for those of you who don't know what podcasting is, it's basically getting a few people in a group who share an interest, and just recording them talking about the subject. Of course, each episode of every podcast has a list of criteria they go over, and usually has some direction. One of my favorite podcasts would be diggnation.com's, because I've been a fan of both of the hosts for years. It's just like an internet radio show, only done by the fans and not a company.

I think it'd be fairly easy to set this all up for free (except for buying microphones, and being willing to do this once a week/month/bi-month.

So, what do you all think?

We'd need really well versed otakus for this one.

Captian Obvious, O_o and Sushi-Y would be a good few. If I recall, 2 are Negima "professors" that date back for ages and Sushi is a translator and could talk about the last few chapters?

I think I'm forgetting another professor though...

Interesting but we would have to wait and see if there's any support from the rest of the members and, of course, Aquastar himself.

I would be willing to help with it. I already have a bunch of programs for voice stuff on my computer including teamspeak.

If we do go through with it, we could have a pretty good system set up. The easiest way to do this is with everyone using skype (free), and one person on a mac recording the whole thing. Skype lets only up to 6 people talk at the same time. So, let's say we had 3 hosts that were there every week. One of those might be the tech guy, or we have the tech guy as a 4th person who doesn't say much (a lot of podcasts do that). Then, we'd be able to have 1 or 2 guest hosts every week.

I'd like to do it, but two problems.

1. I have (from what I've been told) an awkward voice (:()
2. No usable microphone

I have a relatively nasal voice, so I dont think Im going to be great on a microphone, nor do I know enough about Negima to be some sort of subject authority. However, if we get some sort of system like this set up, I would be willing to help in any way I could.....lol...if we ever have a Star Wars subject, you people can call me...

Well, the way I wanted to have this setup, is that everyone (well...anyone who posts) can have an affect on the show. I'm really hoping this all comes together. My voice is probably fine in case I get to be one of the hosts, but that's not really important. Basically whoever can do the best job as the host , not who has the best voice. Originally I thought we could have a strong focus on the boards, but after thinking about this for awhile we have a pretty broad range of things we could do.

1. Review fansubs
2. Suggest manga to buy/download.
3. Have a segment each episode where we play a song from an anime, and people listening try to send in the answer to what show it's from.
4. Have a suggested song every week, and play it.
5. Talk about upcoming releases.
6. Give info on licensed anime.
7. Talk about upcoming conventions: who's gonna be there, where it is, what days it's open, and anything else cool in each con.

I know...the list seems kinda long. But I've been thinking about this podcast for awhile (I even bought a brand new USB microphone in case I get to be one of the hosts).

Also, to anyone who doesn't want to be host but does want to help out, we'd definatley need people to help find some of the info in the list above, assuming we do anything in it.

Right now is perfect to put up a new podcast about anime, because itunes just put podcasts as a downloadable feature to the program. There aren't many anime podcasts there right now, so we should strike!

Yup, I'm bringing this back up. We were considering doing a recorded report from some Summer con as our first episode, but that idea sortof...well, it just died. Dunno what happened, but yeah...it died.

But, after 6/7 months, I'm bringing this back up. Is anyone else interested in this? If not an anime podcast done by aquastar forums, just one done from/with members of the boards who want to join.

Ventrilo is great, but, it is so god damn annoying as it is the stupid "click" sound...

Antoher thing we must have is this "Mr. Random"... I seriously like that idea... (It does fit me very well :P)

We'd be using Gizmo, mostly because it has good audio and you don't need other software to record conversations.

Gizmo. It's identical to skype except you can record conversations (aka make podcasts with people).
