This is Aznricekid's work.

A. Overdo with white level. Grey textures starts to distort.
B. Scan restoration errors.

1. there is 2 lines. not 1.
2. i think that this line should go up too.
3. yep. the 2nd line from 1 is goes under the next hair line.
that's why your's edit looks strange here.
4. look at the eye-style of Akamatsu-sensei. then look at 16.
Yep. gone missing.
5. take into account point 4,16,17. line 15 should look different.
6. 7 - is the line from glasses. you missed this.
8. - look at point 4 one more time. The same style is here.
9. - I don't think that lines aren't connected here. line here are not
looking smooth.
10. The same as in 9 - i don't think that hair can be like this :)
Curves - not the straights.
11. look at this points. they're the same sun/light flare as in 12
13. i underestand that point 14 doesn't give us much hints. but the overall look is strange. particularly in this cloned line (13)
18. look at those glasses. I think this girl is fighting with them on
and get hit :)

ps. You also forgot to clone texture from ear and higher on Negi's cheek.

On the otheк part of scans - you should practice in cloning tech.
To avoid "repeated" or "blurred" look.
Find the time and try to play with this tool on a wider areas.

ok. now about the worst case from this. Point 18.
I'd better show you my way of doing that.
(that's not means that i'm doing it in a best way. I'm still learning too ^_^)

areas marked in RED should look kinda like corresponding GREEN areas.

Learning sesions:
1. Clone tool. try to fool around this tool.
change size of brush(always use Solid brushes).
try other methods of movements.

2. Cleaning scan from JPEG noise are done with Levels or Curves tools
Not by Color range, Magic wand, Replace color or something like those tools.

3. Try to make into account any hints that are left to us under Kanjis
But at the same time try to feel mangaka's way of drawing.
for example - P166. Your lines are falled out of a flow ....
Curves used in upper part. Lines that was hidden under Kanji -
explosion like lines - just like their neighbourhood line - pretty straight.

Overall - GOOD work. But need a practice.
Don't worry. Just sit at your's PC and practice, practuce, practice :)

OMG how i could forget negi's ear  ?
For the texture who are to regular, i didn't make them with the clone tool, I've try another way(i use pattern and fill with it) and I won't do it anymore because the result is quite bad (that's how i deal with takamichi's ear textures, if you look closely).
For the glasses i was discovering again the pen tool (I haven't use photoshop since one year when i decided to attempt the editor test)
I'll try to feel what the mangaka draw (even if it could be hard sometimes)

I only use levels and curves tool and i've never use color selection tool for cleaning. I juste think i overdo a little with curves tool.

However thanks for the tips ^^ it'll be usefull.

edit:

I think everybody love my funny part...Isn't it? :D

Actually, when i was at beginning of my editing education,
this type of error are happened to me frequently.
I use some times Magic Wang to clean white spaces
(that looks ok for me at that time ^_^) and cut pixels....
And.. i missed that this wand selected more than i want....
look at the frame border where border meets a girl head?
That's the way to Wand for selecting something Inside the frame
I think that i guessed correctly about how it was done.
Am i right?

Ahh btw.
Texture fill works the best only with complete replacing old textures
and a custom made texdture pattern. Not just select - edit - define pattern.
Sometimes such textures can be downloaded for free from internet
They have their own names - Screentones.

Like i said before I only use curves and levels tools. No magic wand.
And with this shot you can see what overcurve (I don't know if this word exist) can do.

Anyway thanks for telling me the other mistake that musn't be done. :D

Naota - December 5, 2005 04:18 PM (GMT)
WOW. Never used Curves in that way :))))

grifos - December 5, 2005 04:20 PM (GMT)
Hehe that could be very usefull if you don't overdo it. You can delete all the dirty pixel which are no use. :)

Tmoo - December 23, 2005 08:48 PM (GMT)
!!!

i need to learn that tool...

khell - December 27, 2005 07:30 AM (GMT)
in my opinion, it's ok to miss stuff as long as the text covers it. No point really in overdoing it and stuff.

do well enough that people can't even tell, because regular folks don't look for these imperfections. I guess the people looking for minor errors are people that have experience editing and stuff.

quality > quantity, but you have to balance it as well. well that's how i look at it anyway

athos - December 27, 2005 08:02 PM (GMT)
 I think so, too. Sometimes I'm too lazy to rebuild the whole audience, so I use the text to cover up.

erizo - September 11, 2006 05:40 PM (GMT)

He was AQS' official scans denoiser for Negima ._.

lambchopsil - September 12, 2006 03:12 AM (GMT)
And then he died and NO ONE has a clue what happened to him

Tmoo - September 12, 2006 04:26 AM (GMT)
he probably just got bored of having to denoise every week and decided to leave, but didn't want to make a mess by announcing his departure.

in any case, he's a dead man.

Indeed.
