~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, without further ado, I shall start with my very own encounter;
I was alone at home on 27th December 2005. It was 7.30 pm, and I had just finished jogging at Pasir Ris Park (yes, I live in Pasir Ris). I reached home, sour with sweat, and decided to take a nice, warm shower. Since I was alone at home then, I decided to take my time cleansing myself.
Just then, I started to have this weird feeling. I felt that something was watching me. I immediately stopped bathing, dried myself and put on the towel and walked out from the bathroom (in the kitchen). I still felt that I wasn't alone in the house.
Suddenly, I felt something slapping my backside. I screamed and ran up the fight of stairs, into my room and locked the door shut. Still in my towel, I stood pressing myself against the corner of the room, as whatever it was outside started banging the door hard.
Then I remembered the "Kris" Kong bought for me as a souvenir from Melacca. I recalled my overpuffed, bloated, blubbery, sausage-fingered boyfriend telling me that Bomohs (Malay medicine men) used this dagger to slay evil spirits. So I grabbed the kris and slided it under the door, and I heard the thing howling and the banging stopped.
Safe, I decided to hold on to the kris, until my grandmother reached home. I told her everything, and she also found a black handprint on the white towel I was wearing, right over where my backside is!
My grandmother immediately consulted a medium to bless our house. According to the medium, before the house was built, there used to be a tree where a tree spirit had lived for many years.
Until today, my grandmother, and even Kong, saw what appeared to be a tall and lanky figure sitting on the sofa in the living room. My grandmother said maybe the spirit was soothed since the medium blessed the place. But still, I think it's waiting for another chance to get me...
Myu,Me - January 26, 2006 05:07 AM (GMT)
lol, good idea, i have a ghsot story. Well sorta, got a bit of backroudn to it
My family is no different than any other. We do the same activities, and follow similar life styles as others. The difference is that i think the people on my mothers side of the family have some kind of differecne in mind that makes them able to visualize or think of things differently than regular people would.
Now since my mother was a young child she has always had an overdeveloped sense of thigns around her. She has always had a huge emotional and spiritual connection to those in her family, and more specifically those on her side of the family. Now when my mother was in highschool she had somethign similar to a preminition. I cannot quite remeber the details, but what hse saw happened a short time later to a person she knew very well. And the scary thign was in her vision it was not the person she saw, but the person had similar characteristics. In another case the day my grandmother died, my mother knew it. She woke up and knew that her mother was dead or going to die that day. I cannot explain it and do not understand it myself, but it happened. Now a similar experiecne happened to me, becaus i come from my mothers side of the family. When i was around 11, my grandfather was robbed of his car in hsi garage. The day it happened i woke up and new something was wrong. I could feel that some one in my family was in danger, or had recently been hurt, Badly, well 10 minutes after waking up and getting out of bed, my family gets a phone call saying that my grandfather was in hospital. He had been hit on the back of the head while fighting of the guys trying to take his car. The only reason he was alive was the magezine of the gun he was hit with had fallen out, and luckly the robbers were to stupid to load it. Now at first i was scared, and i mean scared, caseu i knew that is waht i had felt. Well, about 2 years later i was over at a friend house. My friend had told me stories of the hosue and the area around it, and i didnt really believe it. My friends bedroom is in view of his staris leading to his basement. Jsut before i went to bed at around 12, i was looking at the stairs to hsi basement and saw the railing move. At first i thought it was my imagination. Then i saw something liek a shadow, except it was lighter than everythign around it, not much but enough to be distinguisable. WEll this scared the !@#* out of me and i told my friend. His sister had jsut said goodnight to us, and she was kind of into the whole "ghost and magic" stuff. Well i told her about it. She looked over at the stairs, but as she did i saw the shadow descend agian and disapear. I have been back at that hosue many a time, and have never seen what i saw again, but i know something is there.
I do not entirely believe in ghsot as are precieved in society. I think a "ghost" is a soul or a combination of souls that has either not found an after life, or cannot acheive this after life. I think this may be the biblical equivilant of hell for these souls. I myself am not religious, but spiritual. Other thigs like this have happned bu none as strong or long lasting.
Well i hope this was inciteful
From the Bar just posting it here with some edits:
-----------------------------------------
My lil bro's friend who was born with a "3rd eye" told us when she was lil, that one night when she was crying in her room suddenly an old woman's hand pats her shoulder and then she said "now..now..don't cry..why not come..with..me"
When she look up who is it, she cant see her face cause...her face is all blur, like it was twitching or moving so friggin fast! also she wears a black dress which we called BLACK LADY and known to be very evil...my bro's friend just scream and run outside to her parents O_O;
Sadly its been hard for her in her younger days cause "they" keep popping out, but now, she used to them. as long as they dont bother her.
now she's an officemate with my lil bro (not to mention she's cute!) and he invited her to our house last Tuesday night (Jan 24'06) , after she left, my lil bro told me, that when they arrive at our apartment building entrance she mentioned him to go up the stairs quickly, as they are safely in our place, she told him that there's "something" inside the entrance gate, just standing there :blink: after lil bro told me that night, I just hope it doesnt bother us...if Wavy is reading this he knows what our gate entrance to our apartment building looks like.
For me its like after learning that something is lurking on the ground floor...all I can say is..."Oh..S$%^*!!!!" (> x <;)
If you go to the listing of haunted places on that site for New York, I've been to about half. I've seen stuff at a few, but these two were definitely something.
Troy - West Hall - Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute - This building served as a hospital prior to becoming a classroom building for RPI. The ghost of a lady in white is often seen walking the halls. She is said to be a nurse that died in a fire that gutted the building while trying to save children. The ghost is welcomed and well liked. Signs jokingly say things such as "Please turn off the lights for the ghost when you leave."
*I used to go to school at RPI, spent time with friends at West Hall. Saw the ghost, had lights turned out, doors shut, etc.
Stony Brook - Country House Restaurant - An old farm house built in 1710, used as a stagecoach station in the1800's. Now a restaurant, is haunted by the ghost of a young woman who was hanged by the British as a spy during the revolutionary war. It's said that her presence can be felt on the staircase and in the kitchen.
*I used to work here. Felt presences, had paper towel rolls thrown at me off a shelf, grabbed from behind by nobody...
Krusher Kong - January 26, 2006 06:14 AM (GMT)
It seems that Kim's house has history, because she told me that there used to be a tall tree where her house is now and living in the tree, is an evil spirit. I can only think of the fact that once the spirit's home is destroyed (in this case, the tree), the spirit decided to stay within the compounds od Kim's house because that was where its home used to be.
Which comes into mind, my personal encounter;
New Years Eve, I decided to sleep over at Kim's house. Well, since I'm overpuffed, bloated, blubbery, and sausage-fingered, the single bed in the guest room is too small to hold me, so I have to share room with Kim (much to the detest of her 1st brother) and slept on a thin matress on the floor.
So, after we counted down for the new year, we were shacked and decided to have a good sleep (since it's a public holiday). However, around 3.00 am in the early morning, I woke up and need to answer nature's call urgently.
So, I got up, squeezed through the door and down the stairs as the toilet is located in the kitchen, which is on the first floor. However, as I was half way down the stairs, I heard someone whistling (think of Scorpion's "Wind of Change").
I was too tired to be bothered, and when I reached the living room I noticed someone sitting on the sofa in front of the television. At first, I thought it was one of Kim's brothers, but then again, upon closer look... it wasn't...
It was sitting hunched over, head looking down. The figure was tall, lanky, and black as shadow. The shoulder are quite broad, and resting above it was a small head. I can't make out it's features because it was too dark. I noticed that the figure had a long cigar in it's right hand, smell of tobacco was strong in the living room.
Freaked out, I lumbered back up the stairs on my very small, very short legs and squeezed back into Kim's room, and for fear it might follow me back into the room, I hugged Kim throughout the night, till the next morning.
When I told about what I saw during breakfast, Kim's grandmother told me that she too had seen the spirit several times, most of the time in the living room, but is also sometimes seen in the kitchen, in the toilet, sitting on the bench in the front lawn, etc.
Kim also recounted her experience, and she told me that she suspected that this was the same spirit that tried molesting her when she was alone at home. From now on, whenever she's going to be alone at home, she will call me over...
No Limitz - January 26, 2006 06:42 AM (GMT)
Well my paranormal encounters weren't as clear as yours or that actively involved. Before my brothers moved out, in his room(where i sleep now) there was his old alarm clock had constant problems, and kept going off atleast twice a day in one week. We had it checked out and nothing seemed wrong, so we just threw it out and got a new one, soon my brother got another digi clock with the radio stations constantly changing for some reason this stopped after a few months. And then one day there was a planned blackout in my community, everybody except for my sister were out, she was in her room and went out to use the bathroom, thus passing by my brother's room, to smell a scented candle lit in my brother's room.
She was scared stiff since she was the only person home and didn't go into my brother's room at all.
Well nothing has happened since.
Although the funny thing is that my door is kind of loose so since i live in alberta by the rockies(very windy) sometimes a draft can swing my door open. It's hilarious to see the reactions of my friends when they're over.
And my girlfriend was scared sh*tless, so i fixed the door so it doesn't happen anymore.
O yes i have a long distance friend that has a whole group of ghostbusters, they constantly infiltrate and map an abandoned mental asylum/institute for the mentally challenged kids. And there's pictures of Gay Ninja Turtles! I'll try looking for a link.
Krusher Kong - January 26, 2006 09:19 AM (GMT)
Other experiences;
This incident happened just last week, also in Kim's house. Her mum and grandma were out shopping at Downtown East and she was at home with her brothers, and me. Since we were bored and have nothing to do, we decided to watch some VCD.
We were watching some horror movie from the 80's. While watching the show, Kim's 1st brother thought he heard something upstairs. At first we were assuming that he was trying to freak us out as we are watching a horror movie, but he noted that he swore he heard something.
Kim's 3rd brother immediately lowered the television volume, and we heard it. We heard someone humming from upstairs. We looked at each other as who will be whistling if we're the only ones there? Kim's 3rd brother immediately switched off the television, and turned on all the lights. The humming stopped.
In conclusion, the humming somehow sounded like a male's voice. So it could be made by the Kapre-like creature living in Kim's house.
BTW, Kim... didn't you have an experience in Bukit Timah Hills when you went hiking with your 3rd brother?
musashi - January 26, 2006 09:26 AM (GMT)
It seems that "kapre-like being" is enjoying his stay at Kim's house :blink: just be alert and wear protected charms.
Krusher Kong - January 26, 2006 09:32 AM (GMT)
I seems so. From what you're telling me, mush, the kapre-like spirit seems to be enjoying his stay in Kim's house, but remember that it used to live in a tall tree which once stood where Kim's house is built.
It could somehow be adapted to the new environment and decided to stay in longer. But my only worry is Kim's safety. What if it's waiting for another chance to get her, like what he did the last time. But my advice to Kim is to hold on to the kris I gave her.
I also remembered that she told me she saw something similar in Bukitt Timah Hills. Well, it's either another Kapre-like spirit, or the legendary Nodoka...
Iron_magister - January 26, 2006 09:36 AM (GMT)
Lol people at aquastar have scary encounters do they?
Well I'm not really sure about ghosts but....I have one about my school. Which happened to be a hospital during the final days of the british occupation of sinagpore and a hospital/air base for the japanese during WWII.....
There was once a story told to me by a teacher saying that the block where my classroom is happened to be haunted.....
Here goes...
On some evenings, usually at about 4pm to 7pm , if you walk around on the fourth level or third level of the block (my class is on the 4th level!) you might hear footsteps behing you , when you turn there is no one there the footsteps vary with your walking pace. Some students turn fast enough to catch sight of a young boy behing them. Strange huh?
musashi - January 26, 2006 09:43 AM (GMT)
Some Kapre in our provinces or even cities, usually adapt when something happens to their homes ( i.e. Balete Trees ) , the bad news, some gets really angry and turns into a violent being if their "home" been destroyed and curse the new dwellers with either sickness in the family or never ending hauntings.
the few good ones stayed and hide, you cant see them except innocents, (kids usually) and live with the new dwellers peacefully.
Few cases or most cases some beings like Kapre, tikbalang (in our local mythos) took fancy on one of the dwellers :blink: either give protection or very over protective to that person. or..much surprising falling in love with them.
---------------------------------------------
Another experience for me when I was I think 10 years old when my godmother (bless her soul) pass away 2 weeks after her burial and I was just coming out of the bathroom, i felt the scent of sampaguita and candle, and a cold breeze pass by, take note : its summer and friggin hot that night.
It could be my godmother who just passing by before going to the other side..so I just humourly whisper to her that " Godmother, its alright for you to visit me, just DONT show up please~" then bout 2 min it was gone and I have tha dash to my room after that! :blink:
Similar cases happened at the place where my brother works, HQ SCDF. Despite the fact that HQ SCDF was built recently, the place seems to be crawling with things which you do not wish to bump to at night;
1.) Pochongs, and even Toyols, were oftened sighted at the CSB (Central Supply Base) building at night.
2.) In the main building of the HQ, footsteps and laughters could be heard during the after hours. Same goes for the basement carpark located underneath the MPH (Multi-Purpose Hall).
EDIT
@ mush ~ I have a feeling that the kapre-like spirit has taken fancy for Kim! Whatever it is, it's my duty to defend my girl...
musashi - January 26, 2006 09:50 AM (GMT)
thats why I warned Silvy NOT to talk bout things on their night patrols, you'll never know "who" might be listening and tries to play a prank on them. :ph43r:
Say Krusher, if my memories serve well, Silvy once told me you , with Silvy and a friend of your once playing a guitar and he sing a song bout a being, right? he keeps singing until something makes its "presence". :o
---------------------------------
Most simple notes on supernatural, since Dad is a buddist and got some taoist books, he told me the simplified why beings attracted to a person if a person will is very weak, it intends to be like a magnet.
But if your strong willed person, it wont bother you.
Sadly not to those who are gifted with the 3rd eye, can be both blessing and a curse, Heck! I'm sure you dont want to wake up and facing a corpse ! Like that awesome asian movie " The Eye" heck! thats the most common encounter you'll have! especially in hospitals!
Iron_magister - January 26, 2006 09:51 AM (GMT)
Do as you please...
Krusher Kong - January 26, 2006 09:56 AM (GMT)
OH YES!
That was around last year I think! Silverback, his classmates and I were hanging around in Changi Beach to cut some slack. Silverback's classmate brought along a guitar and decided to sing some classic Malay songs.
Just imagine, it was pretty close to midnight and he sang the Pontianak song! That was when he heard a spine-chilling laughter, and we immediately took off withous looking back.
All I can say that Silverback's classmate is stupid for singing that song especially when it's close to midnight! That's suicide!
Midnight is where these things comes out, I guess he thinks joking like that is funny <_<
These things are more active and "powerful" on the Festival of the Dead which in Asian Mythos, Lord Yama would open the gates of hell to have spirits visit their relatives, thats why most asian countrys would have incent, paper ghost money and some food to offer for them.
and it is said not to come out at night since its their 1 day event and they rome the street unseen. :ph43r:
For the living, we have to stand the incent burning fumes and burning paper money and red candles though :(
KONG, ARE YOU TRYING TO SCARE ME?
Then again... you can always protect me, right Kong? ^_^
BTW, my grandmother mentioned to me a few hours ago that the thing living in my house is getting less hostile. Perhaps, maybe it's learning to co-exist with the human inhabitants of the house. But I somehow doubt it...
@ Kong ~ That thing I saw in Bukit Timah might be the Nodoka...
RedWolf - January 26, 2006 10:11 AM (GMT)
Interesting topic my family has its share of ghosts experiences.
In fact my elders and every sibling of mine each had a supernatural experience.
Once my older sister complained to mom that someone just walked through her.
My Moms response was "Idiot it's just a ghost. Its grandpa visiting." Mom shrugs. (Gezz encountering ghosts in my family abnormally normal) A relative of ours just died then.
2 of our properties have ghosts haunting them. One is a relative I'm told.
Not to mention our relatives when they die they tend to say goodbye. Hundreds of miles away without phones or any telecommunications devices. (If it wasn't family it be creepy)
I think my family has a sort of ESP ability or a affinity to these phenomena.
I'm the odd one in my family I haven't experienced or couldn't sense any ghost. :blink:
@ Kim, all I can say is wear a bless amulet and have the Kris always when your alone or much better NOT to be alone in the house
Orlinda Ng - January 26, 2006 10:23 AM (GMT)
Well, I'll always call Kong to my house I'm going to be alone at home.
BTW, whenever I'm alone in my room, studying or doing homework, I have a feeling that it's looking at me. Sometimes I'll catch a glimpse of a black figure sitting in the corner of my room, but when I turn to get a better look, it was gone. It's kinda true, actually... what if it liked me? That's why I always carry the kris Kong gave me.
My brothers sometimes saw the figure too.
But you know...
There was one time where I woke up from sleep, and found flowers next to my bed. I thought that they were from Kong, but he told me that he didn't get those flowers. Who were they from?
I can say that Kong is developing a grudge againts the spirit, which will be his undoing. But then again, it's his nature to protect me, his girlfriend.
Kim, you should ask your grandma to consult a medium who will completely exorcise the spirit from your house. I'm really worried for your safety, Kim.
Remember when there we only two of us at your house. We were watching television, and I neede to go to the toilet, and then the lock got jammed? I'm guessing that the spirit locked me, but with my strength I managed to force the door open...
@Kong, make sure you and her brothers are always with her.
I'm a muslim, and Kim's a taoist
The medium they consulted is a taoist medium, but his charms did not seem to be effective against the spirit even after that previous exorcise. However, it did go away after Kim slided the kris under the door.
BTW, could you, like, "stab" the spirit with the kris?
I don't believe in ghosts, but spirits, I can believe in... There's a girl who bounces a ball in my friend's house, but according to him, it's probably a dead spirit... I can't believe that they didn't do anything about her... BOING BOING BOING BOING in the house, in the middle of the night! I'd go crazy!
Geez, your ghost story is just making my heart beat faster... even though I'm surrounded by a bunch of loud friends...
Anyways, time to add a ghost story I know...
There's soldier back in Vietnam. (It's a local legend, but I have friends who say it's their great-grandfather... <_< hmph...) Anyways, the old man was lost in the forest. He walked until saw a river. Of course, the best way out of a forest is to go follow the river out. He followed it until he saw an old house. It looked desserted, so he went in there to take a break. He found an unburied casket/cofffin (<-- is there a difference between the two?). There was a ming vase holding dead flowers in front of the case. Being the soldier he was, he took it, washed it and continued on using it as a thing to hold water to drink from. He walked and he walked... and he kept walking! It was as if there was no end to the forest. He walked until he saw the same, exact house. Inside he saw the casket too. He understood what he had to do, so he put back the vase, bowed as to say sorry, and went back outside to continue following the river. In a few minutes he found the end of the forest and he was able to go back home...
Now, there was proof somewhere in one those villages, but I'm not sure what it was. That's all I can say. Sorry.
Myu,Me - January 27, 2006 02:24 AM (GMT)
Um, i do not claim to be any kind of expert, but i am wondering, do you have any animals in your house. I have three dogs, all which i am very attached to. Animals have a hightened sense of the word around them that comes from better vision(if not colored) better hearing, and i feel a better understanding of the world within their limited capacity( i think that animals are smarter than humans in a different way)
My suggestion is A) Get a pet, a dog or cat. Dogs are very loyal and if you earn its trust it will defend you with its life. In egyptian mythology cats were the gaurdians to the underworld. I have not really seen cats, have any effect on spirits, but i have heard it helps. As well as, if you do try to excersize this spirit, if you have not already done so, make sure you finish the Job. From what i know spirits dont take to these type of thigns very well.
Finally, dont give the spirit power. Show it respect, but like a bully, if you fear the spirit and do not stand up agaisnt it, then its behavioral pattern may be simialr to that of a bully.
If problems persist, see if you cant get several mediums to try exercize the spirit. I hope all goes well, and may God watch over you and protec you.
Cats and Dogs are pretty handy in an earthquake prone area.
If I'd listen to my dogs hours before I wouldn't have left home.
I was in a buiding when the quake hit.
People if your dogs howl at nothing chances are a quake is coming.
Ditto if your other pets act weird.
yup! animals can 'see" or sense that normal eyes cant see.
Another type if at nights you heard crickets and then it went quiet.
Most cases of supernaturals are either :
- Place has an bad history (fire, murder etc)
- Was a cemetery before
- Was a sacred ground been defiled
- Was "someone there first before been put up by a building.
- A Person is very weak will
- "It" became very fond of that person and followed it home.
djet0 just came up with something brilliant. It the spirit was driven away by the kris, that means the dagger can be used as a weapon against it.
Maybe, my bloated ape, I can be the bait and the once the spirit comes to me, you can lash out with your overpuffed, bloated, blubbery, sausage-fingered frame and stab the kris into it's chest!
However, the medium should be there too, just in case...
Well, me acting as the bait will be too dangerous. But I'm the one it wants, right? It's kinda like building a trap for the spirit. The kapre will be lured to the bait (me) and the medium will be able to sprinkle some holy water on the presence, destracting it and Kong will be able to go for the kill (ala. exorcise)
