Reika|Syn - January 7, 2005 06:51 PM (GMT)
Started off with 2-d scrolling fighting games, went to FPS, loved RPGS, and now some MMORPG.
T_T no more FF console games.
AKOL - January 7, 2005 07:42 PM (GMT)
Its all about the fighters.
Im gonna go play Tekken 5 now. :)
ChaosHawk - January 7, 2005 08:12 PM (GMT)
I prefer RPG's more than any other genre of video game however I have been known to play pretty much anything. The only games I wont play are most sports games...as they put me to sleep.
Deviantspy - January 7, 2005 09:17 PM (GMT)
RPG games are an all around past-time for me, but right now I'm leaning towards something else. I don't know exactly what genre you would call this but my gaming interests now involve brutal violence, excessive swearing, killer real-time graphics, gore, and first or third-person shooting. Games like Chronicles of Riddick, Grand Theft Auto, and The Punisher are included in this category.
DJcream - January 7, 2005 11:47 PM (GMT)
Fighting games in the arcades is competition. Competition with money on the line (quarters) is a lot more fun than any other type of game.
Kai - January 8, 2005 04:55 AM (GMT)
In the arcade I like Fighting. At home I like RPGs.

I too enjoy playing fighting games from time to time. I either go out and buy them or go to my local arcade and duel with other people. I just hate those button-smashing people hoping they can achieve victory over experience players like myself. I own titles like the Marvel Vs. Capcom series, Dead or Alive series, and the Mortal Kombat series.
I just adore old school games like Street Fighter. I kick major A$$ with M. Bison.
DJcream - January 9, 2005 02:19 AM (GMT)
I perfer the game Capcom vs. SNK 2. In that game, there is no way a button masher can win due to the controls. I love messin' with people with a team of N-Zangief, Dan(2) and Cammy team. If I play seriously (only in tourneys) I play a K-Rock, Terry and Cammy(2) team.
Kai - January 9, 2005 02:27 AM (GMT)
Capcom vs SNK 2 Rules. Best 2D fighter ever!
And in the failure called C&C Tiberian Sun, mass infantry = winnar is you!

A-Groove Bison = really devistating
Activate Custom Combo: Psycho Crusher > Repeat till to corner > Psycho Vanish > Repeat 'till gauge is finished.

Right on man :D "Gives a high five to DJcream"
DJcream - January 9, 2005 05:39 AM (GMT)
That combo is really easy til the Psycho Vanishes. It's really hard to do a constant stream of Dragon Motions.

 Yeah, I know. I also tend to piss off the newbies by constanting executing the Head Stomp and the Psycho Banish from time to time just for the fun of it.
DJcream - January 9, 2005 05:47 AM (GMT)
I piss off the newbs in my area with Dan and Zangeif. It's hysterical to finish off a fireball spammer but rolling and doing a short range special.

I disagree with this, as i think Guilty Gear XX#Reload is way better, as well as Street Fighter 3: Third Strike, but i guess thats a one mans opinion.
I like CvS2, its kinda fun, i use all chicks naturally, and i only use A groove. My team always has Athena and Nakoruru on it, and it usually goes like this:
Athena
Hibiki/Cammy/Sakura
R2 Nakoruru
Athena's custom combo is awesome. Roll or find some way to do her command throw, qcf+p, activate, j.HK j.LK, repeat 3 times, j.HP air dp.HP, j.HPxxHCBx2.any p, cancel out the super with the qcb.P, hold it for a second or so, then release it into the opponent. Too fun.
Plus her c.HP has HUGE priority, and her SAIKO BARRU is good for pressure. Her air qcb+k when mixed up well is very good.
My Nakoruru is simple, try to get them to jump so i can do qcf+HP for my main damage. And qcb+k with the bird is REALLY good, i can do the HP to come off and give me advantage on block, qcf+p for the bird to shoot at them, or qcb+p to dive down at them if they whiff a fireball or something...all are good. For my custom combo, I wait for them to mess up or find the right opportunity to activate, then do d/f.HP, if it hits, keep mashing d/f.HP until its about to end, then do HP HP QCF+HP to finish it off. Easy enough, i don't care enough about the game to practice finishing it with the C.HK HCBx2+p. If they block the d/f+HP, do it a few times, then go for a throw mixup.
And my Hibiki is ok, my Cammy just abuses standing HK and cannon spike and is there mostly to build meter. My Sakura sucks, but she's awesome in A groove so i was trying to work on her a little...
DJcream - January 9, 2005 06:26 AM (GMT)
Guilty Gear XX#Reloaded is a great game and it's up there in my top favs. I like CvS2 'cause it has a lot of team costomizin' so I have that topin' my list.
Anyways, I just play the field instead of comboin'. I can do the standard jumpin. hk > standin'. hp > special but that goes only so far. I go with settin' up mind games. I'm prolly the only one in my area that isn't afriad to taunt in the middle of a match to intise someone to attack me when I play Geese, Rock, Yama, Hibiki or other counterin' person.
I'm still tryin' to get better with Dan though.
AKOL - January 9, 2005 06:47 AM (GMT)
well, CvS is fun, but when you're playing against an A groove Blanka, Sakura, Bison, etc where it becomes so incredibly unbalanced that normal characters like Athena and Nakoruru stand no chance is a turn off in my book. In GGXX, every character can compete, no matter who it is. Sure some are better, but there is not one character who is immediatly dismissed and has no chance of winning unlike in CvS.
Oh well, i use normal attacks, too of course, but i dont jump that much due to no air block and huge dragon punch priority. As i said, Athena's crouching HP is SUPER good. I'll sit back and use that over and over if i need to.
DJcream - January 9, 2005 06:51 AM (GMT)
I guess its all comes down with experience. A-Blanka isn't his best groove and not that many can do ShoShoSho without screwin' up. I prove that everyone is good (maybe with the exception of King) in CvS2. Guitly Gear shows more balance that thats cool.
Btw, got any tips playin' Faust?
AKOL - January 9, 2005 07:49 AM (GMT)
not really, i play Bridget. :P I can help you out with Bridget if you need it, hehe.
Well, i know A groove isn't blanka's best, but he's like, the best character in the game, he doesnt need any particular grove to freaking own everyone.
And yes, King does suck, every character can be "good" in their own way (not great or top, though) and Vice looks like a dude.
Kai - January 9, 2005 07:57 AM (GMT)
I thought Sagat was the best >.>
I just use:
Nakoruru
Evil Ryu
Mai
DJcream - January 9, 2005 04:54 PM (GMT)
Blanka, Sagat and Cammy are considered the best in that order. Blanka got annoyin' speed, Sagat got power and Cammy got the best standin' HP and great combo possiblities (with a great mix-up game). In addition, any of them perform great in any groove.
Meh, I'm still tryin' to utilize Faust's dust right. I should start a fightin' game topic.
PicardX - January 9, 2005 10:16 PM (GMT)
