Okay, here's the deal. After what amounts to probably 8 hours or more playing Konoka's fortune-telling game on the desktop CD-ROM, I still can't get the mascot. The problem is that while it's otherwise similar to Kamo's quiz game (which you have to play to get Nodoka), there's no way of telling whether you're answering correctly or incorrectly without being able to read the text for yourself, which I can't. Throw in the fact that there are at least 49 questions and you get a (random?) selection of like 7-10 each time, and the chances of me getting the mascot by pure chance any time in the next MONTH are pretty slim.

As far as I know, it's also not available anywhere else online--the only person I know who has it is Jupiterstar and he doesn't share software. (I contacted him way back when I was having trouble installing the programs.) Of course if anyone knows where we CAN get the mascot, let me know, and problem solved--heh.

What I've done is this. I screencapped all the different questions I came across after playing the game about 20 times in a row. Took like two hours! I came up with 49 (it's likely there's one more or something, if I find it I'll cap that one too). That's a lot of work. So my first question is, is ANYONE willing to help me unlock the mascot? I don't expect one person to do all the translating, although if someone feels insane(ly charitable of course!) and wants to, be my guest. If more than one person's willing to help, hell, if anyone's willing to do even ONE question, that'll bring me one step closer to getting the mascot for us.

The second question is what I should do with the 49 images if anyone does want to help. They're about 60KB each, I compressed them quite a bit (the kanji's still readbale though). Should I just post 50 image links in this thread? Zip them and put them up for download? (The file'd be about 2 MB.) Make a mini-website with 10 pics per page for everyone to go through as they please? Other suggestions? And no, I can't torrent, I'm sorry.

After I get the mascot I will of course upload it and post it here for all of us to share, as thanks.

Oh, I should also clarify that I'm not looking for like, flawless translations with perfect grammar. That's too much work for anyone to handle on this project, unless we get a significantly larger group than I think we will. Just a general gist of what's going on would help tremendously.

More like get enough of them to translate a question for me so I can play it and have a chance of winning, heh. The monkey thing is pretty much what I'm doing now--trying to win it by chance. It's not working at all. If I know what at least some of the program is saying, I'll have a much better chance . . .

Hnn... Ok, I'm lost, but I can generally translate anything in Japanese I HEAR, with a website or two... thing is, not so good with Kanji, so unless it's sounded, I can't id it.

Heh, yeah, it's not a regular mini-game. You can't even get to it from the mini-games section--it's only there in story mode and that's all it does is get you the mascot. No animation or anything (except Konoka wiggling her staff around, which is admittedly pretty cute). It sucked rather a lot playing it for so long (which is the main reason why I want translations!).

And the questions don't get read out loud, so I can't help you there, Waku-san. :(

Well, you can't just type into Babelfish:
"Negima Konoka desktop mascot"
Then translate it and put it into a Japanese search engine (excite.jp), then expect proper results...

i only know like, 12 Kanji.

From that picture, all i got was:

And i have no clue about the answers.

Unless you get someone who A) knows Japanese well or B ) Willing to type out all of the Japanese Kanji characters so that they could have others Babblefish it, there is not really any point in posting the questions up.

*Edit* Had a bit of Japanese typing before, but decided to delete it cause not everyone know about encoding, nor do I want to give the idea that I know how to type Japanese.

If you are willing to help with any number of these (like I said, I don't expect anyone to do them all, although if you want to that would rock, heh), I think what would be best is if you let me know how many you want to take on and I can ZIP them up for you and send them to you. After ou have them, you can let me know which ones you need better images of, because not all of them have complicated kanji in them. The thing is . . . I don't actually have a better version, since there were so many to save and the high-quality ones were taking up so much room. So to get better versions of all of them, I'd need to go through everything again, heh. :o But yeah, if you need a better version of certain ones, it wouldn't take that long.

Okay, I e-mailed the zip file to Lukekul and the Aquastar account, so everyone should be able to access it (PM me for the GMail account name and pass if you need it). If the zip file doesn't work I can try again, I've had that problem before with big files. (Big for me on dial-up, anyway). It took me like half an hour to upload though because my connection sucks, so I might not get to it right away, heh.
