Title: Where is the love?
Description: Need a recommendation
erizo - April 19, 2008 03:42 PM (GMT)
I need recommendation, anime, good, not senseless show.
Something that will hook me up from episode 1, Lately I can't make it past 2 episodes of any show, they all appear to be boring from the very beginning.
Can be action packed, Happy Anime (if it has a certain plot at all), Sci-Fi, anything, I'm opened to all suggestions.
and before you ask: no, don't recommend CLANNAD I can't stand that thing.
Wolfii - April 19, 2008 05:02 PM (GMT)
I suggest CL... oh, wait...
Ummmm... do you have a list of what you have seen somewhere? SO we don't suggest the series you've already seen, you know :)
jdennis007 - May 7, 2008 08:26 PM (GMT)
Anything and everything ecchi he has seen.
Lets see, Kanokon is a tease it is an H series that stops at the actual H stuff, To Love RU is a remake of Urusei Yatsura and Kamen no Maid Guy does have a plot but can be a bit out there with Kogarashi's stuff.
erizo - May 13, 2008 02:56 PM (GMT)
ok so I haven't tried Kamen no Maid Guy because of time issues but I couldn't get hooked up with the others. Thanks for the input tho.
Wolfii I cant' really tell the shows I have watched, almost everything that is a must watch I have seen before but now, I'm shocked with the lack fo good shows nowadays hence the creation fo this topic. Must be something less than 2years old otherwise I have seen it.
Thanks to you guys for suggesting. I'm always open for discussion.
I should be getting my new computer this week (hopefully) so I can watch something during the weekend.
I'll keep this open for anyone that wants to share something good with me.

quite frankly, nothing this season really stands out. Aside from the obvious choice of Macross, xxxHolic Kei and Code Geass R2, there's only one diamond in the rough...
Kurenai is a blend of slice of life but with an obvious action twist. Shinkuro is a high school student who also acts as a body guard for a runaway 8-year old, Murasaki, from her prestigous, but jacked up, family. Living in a rundown apartment with some likable neighbors, Kurenai is all fun and games until there's business.
EDIT: Other than that, I'm taking this season to catch up on series I should of watched like Code Geass 1 and possibly Minami-ke.

that's what I've been doing for the past year (watching the obvious Naruto, Bleach, One Piece and other Staples that never stop coming out) I'm following Coke Geas R2 but that's about it. I'm so bored I'm re-watching Gundam WING at the moment.

Erizo isn't a macross fan? :(

Not really, I watched the old Macross but didn't get hooked enough to go on with the Macross universe.

here's a suggestion erizo....
DETROIT METAL CITYSynopsis:Based on the seinen manga by Wakasugi Kiminori serialised in Young Animal.
Souichi Negishi is a shy young man who came from the rural Ota Prefecture to Tokyo for college and wished to become a trendy pop singer. However, for some reason he became the singer and songwriter of a metal band named "Detroit Metal City," with a stage name "Johannes Krauser II." Whenever he wears the heavy makeup, Negishi becomes a completely different person, shouting the most vulgar profanities beyond anyone's imagination. With the popularity of DMC increases, Negishi starts worrying his double personalities can have negative effects on his (romantic) life off stage.
Watch anime
here...

Most of these are really popular so you probably already saw them but let's try...
(here I'm just explaining the genre... do you want an actual summary?)
Strike Witches - Some good action with lots of echi (in this universe girls don't use pants). The plot starts a bit silly but becomes better later.
Hayate no Gotoku - Comedy with lots of WTF moments.
Tora Dora - School life with comedy and romance.
Zero no Tsukaima - Fantasy world with some good action and romance.
Shakugan no Shana - Like the above but more as a supernatural world than fantasy.

@ T.U.M, watched all your recommendations but thanks for your input.
@ G'rr, i'm going to download the first episode and see what's the deal with it, certainly looking forward to it.
@ chaosprophettk, Shana and ZnT both I tried watching and couldn't get pass ep1, I was in a bad moment when I tried them so there's a chance my judgement was clouded at the moment, I don't know, but certainly didn't catch my eye.

O.O Didn't see it was old! As I didn't remember seeing that thread before and someone posted on it recently I assumed it was a new one. XD
Anyway another great one came to my mind. Cowboy Bebop. It's a mix of some action, comedy and a lot of serious and sad moments.

Well it's because you provided little to no suggestion at all. You just said a name, it would be the same if I went to Animesuki and hit a letter in the search button. I didn't ignore is just since I didn't have the time to look for it and read about it then no point in replying just to say I'LL LOOK IT UP ON ANIDB WHEN I GET A CHANCE.
Strange_One - October 8, 2008 11:12 PM (GMT)
I'm sorry, I was joking with that exaggerated reaction. Others had listed names only and that was the only real anime that I had really liked in recent times.
Kara no Kyoukai is a Type-Moon story, so blends 'real-life' with the paranormal very well. It's a paranormal mystery type series that reveals the story as you watch through the series - kinda like the Ergo Proxy or Haruhi series setup.
It's a fairly deep yet, adult series. Maybe describable as a Ghost in the shell feel, but more relevant to life and society so much less brain strain.
with no need to think of age limits they adapt the bloodier or disturbing parts of the story but without overdoing it. Animation and Soundtrack would probably be classed cutting edge. Personally I think tis amazing work they have put into this.

Update: I tried Shana again and I finally got the ball rolling, I'm going to watch the first season (up to episode 6 right now)
@ G'rr: I'll wait for more DMC to come out before I start watching it.
