Title: Freezing
Description: Story is by the creator of Onihime VS.

Sayo's Guardian - October 31, 2008 04:40 PM (GMT)
Genre:Action, Drama, Ecchi, Romance, Seinen(mature shonen), supernatural
Story by Im Dal Young
Art is by Kim Kwang Hyun

In case you couldnt tell by the names this was originally a korean title

Summary:
Beings from a different dimension have started a war with mankind. To counter this threat an academy called "Genetics" that trains female warriors called "Pandora" who can wield special weaponry and armor was formed. Kazuya Aoi decided to enroll in this school because of a promise with his sister, an outstanding alumnus who died in battle. There he meets Bridgette L. Satellizer nicknamed "The Untouchable Queen" due to her solitary demeanor but also the top student of the academy whose battle simulation streak was undefeated until he came...and slowly changed her.

Art is impressive especially by Hyun. Young always does work with great artists after all.
The art is nice especially with the ecchi moments, whether theres a fight or a normal scene the characters look nice.

Story is very good as well.
Just like Onihime vs. it has a dark tone while retaining its comedy and other traits of the series.
And just like Onihime VS. its not afraid to be cruel in terms of fights, ecchi or anything else.

So far the first 5 chapters have been translated.

The first 4 chapters are on onemaga:
http://www.onemanga.com/Freezing/

You`re going to have to download ch.5 if you want to read it.

If you`re a fan of Onihime VS., Fights, drama and ecchi I recommend this title to you.

Please enjoy everyone.

Chap 5 is up on mangafox, just click the ad that appears here, its win-win Aqs gets the credit and readers get the latest chap. :heh:

Keitaro - December 27, 2008 02:10 AM (GMT)
The release is very slow. From what I remember the translation started in July or August I think...

Sayo's Guardian - August 13, 2010 06:25 PM (GMT)
An anime adaption of Freezing has been announced!!!!!!!!!!!

I love Im Dal-Young`s works.

I just hope that they dont change any plot devices like they did with Black God(seriously what was up with that?!)

I hope Onihime VS. and Aflame Inferno come around soon as well.

I`m still keeping up with the manga, the chapters that get translated anyway.

It should be known that the current group translating the manga "For the Halibut" is actually quite behind with the series however they are DEFINATELY active despite being slow.
The group themselves announced that their releases wont be quick.
Hopefully the announcement of the anime will motivate them.

Oh right, the proof:
http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2010-...for-next-spring

I already knew about this about 2 weeks ago.
To be exact when I got my copy of Megami and Nyan-type magazine, Nyan-type had a small article on the corner for the Freezing TV anime.

I`ll brag again "I HAVE THE BLACK ROCK SHOOTER DVD!!!!!!!!!"

Anyway considering how they already have a character design and poster like that already along with the announcement of 2011.
Its very likely the TV series will air wither January or Febuary

For those who stopped reading or have never read the manga. Give it a read.
It really is a good read.

While we`re on the topic, the latest chapter may not end well.

Kuze - August 13, 2010 06:29 PM (GMT)
The scan team is taking foreeeever on this one. >_>

Chapter 46 was already online a couple of months ago, and the english scans are only to 33.

Although in a bit of a twist, 47 and 48 have also been both out in the magazines, but haven't been scanned yet by the Chinese.

Sayo's Guardian - August 13, 2010 07:19 PM (GMT)
I So is 48 the latest magazine chapter?

So Halibut is at least 15 chapters behind.

Keitaro - August 14, 2010 02:32 AM (GMT)
SO we now get an anime adaption eh. Now this is good ^_^

Sayo's Guardian - August 16, 2010 08:13 PM (GMT)
The trailer is out(should have seen this coming)

Here it is:
http://freezing.tv/pv/index.html

I`m watching as soon as I click"add reply"

SagittaMagica - August 17, 2010 02:05 AM (GMT)
also watched the trailer when it came out of TT...

Is it a standard cliche in Manwha to pair a weak-at-first guy protag with a ridiculously-strong female lead which turns dere somewhere down the line??

Oh, trailer was awesome BTW, it could have been more IMO, but the enemies make me remember of Evangelion among other things...

Keitaro - January 9, 2011 02:01 AM (GMT)
Ep 1 already released

I'm not getting it ATM

Watched it and it didn't even cover all of chapter 1. They just introduced all the things you must now about the anime.

kano - January 9, 2011 02:14 AM (GMT)
Just watched Ep 1.

Opening scene is the Untouchable Queen getting undressed and activating her Pandora ... well I guess this tells me already what to expect in that regard ...
The panty shots in battle reminded me of Ikkitousen ...
Yes ... unnecessary fanservice abound ... (... and nipples ...) - no censoring so I guess it must be AT-X?

My version was 16:9 for the OP/ED but only 4:3 for the show :(

The Episode title screen includes an English summary of the whole epsiode ... that was odd ...

Computer screens are in English.
Satellizer's favourite food: hamburgers ...
She has a "harf" brother and sister :D

The subbers for my version decided 'el' was spelt "L" ... yeah I often end up getting trash for the first episodes of new shows ...

Nice touch with the simulation (carnival) not really being a simulation :)
(especially the 'recovery center' afterwards)

Took me a while to notice that Kazuya and Kazuha were actually spelt differently :P
I was wondering why a brother and sister seemed to have the same name - oops.

Now the only question is if the next episodes will continue with battles etc or if it will turn into a ToLoveRu/Asobi show where the majority of the story is fanservice related ...

Animation quality is OK. Characters are MQ. Backgrounds are quite good - but still also MQ.

scorpiowolf - January 9, 2011 11:01 PM (GMT)
Been reading the manga since the beginning so was wondering how this'd turn out. 1st off what's with the mahou shoujo-esque transformation into their school uni's, kinda unnecessary imo, just because it's the future doesn't mean people need to auto-dress, and 2nd she wasn't 1st in their school.... the SC Prez, the one who picked the boy up from the graveyard, is.... she is/was 1st in her yr. Otherwise this was an expanded(for time) version of the 1st chap of the series, we'll see where it goes from here.

Yeah and Ikkitousen wasn't all that good imo.

Still, it's got some potential to it. If only they'd tone down the fanservice a little. I'm going to go read the manga to see wheather it's a most or not.

kano - January 15, 2011 01:19 PM (GMT)
Well, still plenty of fanservice with Ep 2 - but also a small amount of story (not much though) - but the ending looks like it's going to be heading down hill fast ...
The majority of Ep 2 was still rather pointless fanservice and not much more.

Trowa - January 15, 2011 11:18 PM (GMT)
*facepalm*

Damn was the fanservice redicules in this epsiode. Thankfully the manga is better where that's concerned.

As for it going down hill. Heh, you haven't seen anything yet where that's concerned. Just wait till they cover chapters 24-36.

kano - January 22, 2011 06:33 PM (GMT)
Ep3 ... 'Burger Queen' :D ... but that was about it, the rest was just fanservice :(

Trowa - January 22, 2011 09:50 PM (GMT)
*double facepalm*

There's so many things wrong with this epsiode. The amount of fanservice barely scratches the surface of it.

1. Miyabe is a junior not a senior.

2. Arthur and Maho where not on the roof dureing the fight.

3. As such he didn't didn't tell Chiffon about it.

4. Satillizer actually stabed Miyabe in the chest, and twisted the blade for good measure.

5. Chiffon had to tell the VP to get the sensei. With Yumi-sensei arriveing at the clinic just before Miyabe went into surgary.

6. Atia wasn't there at all.

Wavehawk - January 26, 2011 03:23 AM (GMT)
Dunno if I should pick this up. I'm not fond of Ikkitousen-ish series.

...on the other hand, the manga is okay. But that also means I probably won't be too interested until the character I actually like finally shows up in the series.

jdennis007 - January 26, 2011 06:35 PM (GMT)
I am actually enjoying this series, the fights have been good and they are trying to develop the characters.

Wavehawk - January 27, 2011 11:56 AM (GMT)
My main complaint about the anime: WHAT happened to the Pandora Powered Suits? "Pandora Mode" in the anime is just the characters being shiny with rings around their legs. I wanted to see the powered suits in action, dammit!

Trowa - January 27, 2011 11:26 PM (GMT)
Didn't you get the memo wavy. The suits wheren't fanservicy enough, so the animators went with this. :bash:

BTW, just read the translated version of 37. It seems both of Kazuya's parents are involved with the pandora project. Which would explain why Kazuya is so stupidly stronge.

Wavehawk - February 2, 2011 11:36 AM (GMT)
Ah, Satellizer. How can such a cold and downright scary berserker with a sword be so...MOE?!?

Trowa - February 2, 2011 08:51 PM (GMT)
So I watch episode 4 the other day.... And all I could do was Facepalm.

Seriously the animation staff is completely screwing up the characterization. They're incerting characters/fanservice where it shouldn't be. I mean seriously, it was Maho who told Kazyua about Ingrid's friend. Not to mention Kazuya actually slaping Ingrid at one point. Oh and there was absolutely no mention of Kazuya's sister dureing the fight.

@Wave Real simple when you consider she's a tsundere, who's heavy on the dere around Kazuya.:P

Wavehawk - February 3, 2011 11:26 AM (GMT)
I'll still be watching the anime, but will stick to the manga in terms of preference at this point.

Granted, I think the reason they put Genessa in there was to make her less unlikable--Remember, it was three or four volumes into the manga before she actually did something admirable...

Trowa - February 3, 2011 12:56 PM (GMT)
Yeah I'm sticking with the manga as well.

Still, while it helps Ganessa's character. It hurts Kazuya's becuase of it. He was the driveing force behind Ingrid's getting a clue about her friend. The anime all but ruined that in favor of showing Genesse.

scorpiowolf - February 4, 2011 05:13 AM (GMT)
Well the fact that he's the male lead means he'll have plenty of opportunities to recover any losses he had from this ep so its a trade off, cause let's face it unless there's a timeskip where they forego the 3rd yrs' "hazing"(or this goes past 12-13 eps) there's no way we'll get to the Nova incident where Ganessa redeemed herself.

Trowa - February 4, 2011 10:53 AM (GMT)
I suppose... But a time skip in my veiw would be even worse.

Besides, there where hints that she wasn't a complete bitch here and there. Not that I thought she was one to begin with. Misguided perhaps, but nothing requireing the "redeeming" you guys are suggesting.

Miyabe is the only character I believe who really needs "redeeming", so my perspective may be sckewed a little.

scorpiowolf - February 5, 2011 06:46 AM (GMT)
I liked Miyabi as she was but lately I've been into carnivorous anime women, lol, but she and Ganessa both made the same mistakes(arrogance and overestimation of their abilities, compounded in Miyabi's case by thinking Brig gave a s**t about her seniority) and got served a faceful of hubris for it.

To be honest,Kazuya slapping Ingrid in the Manga was the point I thought: "Okay, so he's not another wimpy male lead after all, if he has the cojones to slap a senior at this school."

Trowa - February 6, 2011 08:23 PM (GMT)
That's kinda the point wavy. He got massive points for doing that. Yet the anime took it away from him.

Anyway, I just watched episode 5. Bleh, wasn't worth my time honestly. As they screwed up not only Rana's intro but what little character development Higarashi has gotten so far.

Trowa - February 27, 2011 02:03 AM (GMT)
Ok just read chapter 40. And boy do I like Stella's sister, I nearly spite out my drink on page 17. Her brother otoh is a creep of the highest order.

jdennis007 - February 27, 2011 01:38 PM (GMT)
So now we know why she doesn't like to be touched and why she went to the school.
We also got a taste of the president's powers and why people fear her.
I disagree with you Trowa, to me most of the changes make sense and smooth out the story more.

Your talking about the anime right? I gave up on it after Rana's intro honestly. Though I suppose I'll look at the whole Chiffon thing. What epsiode is it again 7 or 8?

jdennis007 - February 27, 2011 11:30 PM (GMT)
Episode 7 is where they show that stuff and the incident with her family.

Wouldn't be the first anime that got spoiled by manga/other posts ... while the show was still running ...

I completely avoid my Fairy Tail anime thread since people hijacked it to post constant spoiler posts without any spoiler tags to hide them for ages even though the show is still running (anime is up to episode 67 this week)

(Yes I'm annoyed about that in my Fairy Tail thread and have been annoyed about it for a long time :P)

scorpiowolf - February 28, 2011 06:45 AM (GMT)
Ah, the return of Miyabi the carnivore. Even her title is lecherous, the Liberator of Virtue, if you didn't know her the double meaning would get you, lol.

Wavehawk - March 4, 2011 12:52 PM (GMT)
I hated episode 8. I just...hated it.

Wavehawk - March 25, 2011 11:28 AM (GMT)
Okay, I now think it's official. The aniime version of Freezing is a wash.

Especially now that I've seen what happens in Chapter 65 for the manga. Hell, the Manga is a LOT better paced and written. And--no, I'm not going to spoil you guys on what I've seen so far that hasn't been translated into English...

jdennis007 - April 4, 2011 10:28 PM (GMT)
You might want to check out the OVA special.

Maybe, bt I'm not holding my breath.

Heck, the only reason I haven't completelyt watched Infinite Stratos is because I realize there's only one character there I'll be watching it for. One character does not a good anime series make.
