I am making this topic because I would like to extend an invitation to all of you. I invite you good sirs and ladies to write down in this thread what you work at everyday.

The topic title is "がんばろうぜ！" (ganbarou ze), or "let's do our best!". I want you guys to write here as often as you like. All I ask is that write down what effort you've put forth, what you've accomplished, or what you're in the process of bringing to actualization. It can be as short or as long a post as you like, and you can make it in regards to the day, the hour, the week, the semester, or even longer. They can steps you make towards long-term goals or just a passing desire or motivation.

For example: "Today I learned a new word!"

or

"I studied a few pages in my French textbook today. Everyday I'm getting closer to my dream of studying abroad in France."

I want to know what you're working hard at, everybody. And I want to see you working at something everyday. Since this is the new year and all, I figured now would be a great time to post something like this. Hell, if you want to post your New Year's resolutions and keep us updated on your progress in the next twelve months, be my guest.

So come on, everybody: let's do our best!

I'm finally making this thread, in hopes that I can inspire more people to work hard, making small steps everyday towards truly monumental goals.

I did something nice to kick off 2009 and gave a somewhat tipsy lady a ride home early morning on New Year's day.

Yesterday and today I tried shaving my facial hair to grow in a goatee with that chin strap, thing. You know, the douchebag look. Somebody suggested I give it a shot, so I am! Even if it doesn't work, I'm trying new things, which is helping me to gain more confidence, which I have pledged to do this year. :lol:

Caught up with one of my best friends, who I haven't seen in about a year -- due to my trip to Japan and subsequent return, being later than his departure date to the same country.

Got the Japan-only Mint Green PSP that I asked him for months and months back (need to have it modded before it'll be any useful though), and talked about getting our old social group(s) together and active again.

Went to the cinemas and watched "Ip Man", which was a great movie. Rare to see martial arts movies contain significant messages/meaning, especially political ones. A highly recommended watch.

Over dinner, had a discussion about me (and him also), and about how I'm getting starting to pick up some motivation for things to try and change my life a bit (I even mentioned this thread!). Hoping to steadily gain more momentum, and keep the ball rolling in a good direction for at least the rest of this year.

Just had a great afternoon and evening out overall. :D

I just learned how to cook Bean Stew(also called Mungos in our language), which tastes Oh so good during rainy days, like the one I am having today...

I also added 200Mhz processing power to my processor by overclocking it... I am a bit worried about my lack of decent cooling equipment, but heck! I need a new processor anyways....

First ever successful farming run of the Underworld Chaos Planes in Guild Wars.

Took almost two hours... but I got three ectos (rare items worth a bit under 5k in game currency). My first ever ectos. Yay.

Yesterday I went and met the other officers for this semester's Japanese Club. They're all really cool people, and we've made plans to do a lot of stuff this semester. I'm working hard to make this the best semester I've had at this school - a nice way to finish off my last year in college.

Achievement (this was three months ago):

I was chosen by an education official in our country to deliver an impression of a seminar I attended in front of more than 1000 teachers (the guest of honor even quoted some excerpts in my impression when it was her turn to deliver her message).

The other day I went to a bar for the first time. It wasn't really that spectacular, but I learned something and was willing enough to try out a new experience! :thumbup:

Got back home at half-three (AM) after a night out in town drinking with a friend, his friends, and even his sister. That's a lot of firsts in one night. ._.;;

Didn't get drunk, which is mostly a good thing.
Didn't get pleasantly drunk, which could be considered a bad thing.
Didn't get to go clubbing, due to some of our crew not being in possession of ID, which was a real shame.

Did one run of the Underworld, netting me about 7 ectos in just over an hour. Considering forfeiting what little sleeping time I have left as an option to go do another run.

And in a few short hours, I (with the rest of my family) will be heading out to the airport to pick up an 11 year-old brat (a kid of an old family friend in Korea) who is going to stay with us for the next nine months. Joy.

On the plus side, he's scared witless of me. Though I honestly don't know why, since I neither actively or passively did anything to induce that the last time I saw him (in Korea, end of 2007). At least nothing I remember.

JD and Dev: I just had a beer. It was kind of a hole-in-the-wall place, but they have Blues Night every Monday, so I got to hear some good musicians. It was pretty cool.

Today I bought a new book on the history of language and last night I wrote a really long thank you note to my team from camp over the summer. I hope I'll learn something from the book that'll help me when I become a language teacher.

Well I have finally made an accomplishment of real worth to mention. You may not have known this before, but I've always wanted to go to Utah to attend the Sundance Film Festival. I love watching films. I never did fulfill my wish because I was either lacking the funds or just didn't have the time. That is until now. :thumbup:

I'll be leaving this evening and hopefully get to Utah in time to watch some potentially cool indie movies and probably meet some celebs. Ack I'm so excited! I don't even have a thick jacket to protect me from the cold, but I don't care! :xd:
