Title: To Aru Kagaku no Railgun
Description: BiriBiriBiriBiri

Wavehawk - October 3, 2009 08:19 AM (GMT)
New thread for the "Railgun" series, just to keep this and Index separate.

monkey2k - October 4, 2009 08:27 AM (GMT)
What sub group are you guys DLing from?
Is Mazui any good?
I was hoping Eclipse would pick this up, but I'm getting tired of waiting for them.

SagittaMagica - October 4, 2009 09:43 AM (GMT)
Mazui should be good(Spice and Wolf turned out well)

But Im hoping for Eclipse to be loyal to this series too..

Wavehawk - October 4, 2009 11:01 AM (GMT)
Well, Murphy hates me, since I've been tryign to get a copy of Ep.1 for a few days unsuccessfully. And a friend just told me to wait for a proper sub group to do this, so...

...I hope things will turn out well. Very, very interested now after hearing someone mention the mistake of trying to fondle grab an electricity user in the shower. :xd:

kano - October 6, 2009 01:53 PM (GMT)
Well the very start of the show says "Sidestory of A Certain Magical Index" - I LOL'd

There was a guy in the cafe that looked like Touma behind Mikoto.
He also had beady eyes! So it maybe was him?
He is in the ED so I wonder how often he will actually show up.

I also wonder what the story will include OTHER than yuri :P

I expect there to be more of "I'll take care of this myself" ... hopefully :)

Ayako and Mazui have already subbed it ...
Both their translations are usually good.

ED music was good.
The shower was just the excuse to have them naked so Kuroko could fondle Mikoto's breasts.
The water wasn't running ... nothing to do with her lvl 5 powers
BlueDo - October 7, 2009 03:35 AM (GMT)
Only my Railgun is actually the OP. They just put it at the end of the episode.
The shower scene is canon.

They did a different take on the order of the events.
It's like combining intros from two different arcs. (And there's no sick Uiharu. Yet...)
Pool cleaning, which was supposed to be a cooling down event in chapter 17, is already being shown in ep2 (preview)
I want it to get to the fun parts soon.

Not Touma

There was another shot with little Ryuuji and Taiga, but I don't have it right now.

kano - October 7, 2009 04:11 AM (GMT)
Oh - yeah - LOL - been a while since I watched Toradora and Index - got the two characters badly mixed up - LOL :D :D

Ah - were they supposed to be Shana and Kazumi in the zoom in?
I paused the show when I was first watching it and looked at it for a while and wondered why it was zoomed in like that.
Funny I didn't realise before ... I've just finished my first watching all of Shakugan no Shana (from beginning to end) :P

tenkenX6 - October 8, 2009 08:32 AM (GMT)
I enjoyed the first episode a lot. Definitely will watch the rest of the series. Mikoto is awesome as usual. :xd:

SagittaMagica - October 10, 2009 04:00 AM (GMT)
But shana likes Melon Pan?! Why are they in a crepe store!? :P

Havent read the manga yet, so Im prepared for surprises(like the plot, the climax and the enemies)

But answer me one question though for those who read the manga, Does the side story also deal with the SISTERS project? The other Mikoto I mean..?

kano - October 10, 2009 05:42 AM (GMT)
Excellent beginning to Ep 2 :D :D
Though I guess Touma won't be showing up that much in this show :(
Another yuri fest ... sigh

BlueDo - October 10, 2009 10:24 PM (GMT)
The manga is covering the Sister's Project right now, with Accelerator appearing as an impossible enemy.
However, I can't be sure whether it will appear in the anime.
Hopefully, this will be 26 episodes so that it can cover the Railgun manga, Railgun Light Novel, and part of Index novel.
I still think Touma will appear more in the future, though not by that much.
I wonder how people who haven't watched Index will react when/if he and Misaka fight.

Yes... the yurifest is rather displeasing...

At least the OP indicates that the show will have a definitive direction.

...

But they did already :)
That's the reason you can be certain it was Touma in the beginning ... him putting up his hand and the damage pattern from her attack on him

BlueDo - October 10, 2009 11:34 PM (GMT)
Well, I meant later on, if/when it doesn't get so ambiguous...
I want to see the entire scene!

SagittaMagica - October 11, 2009 06:52 AM (GMT)
Is the Touma/Misaka encounters here, before or after the Index ones?

kano - October 11, 2009 08:54 AM (GMT)
It would certainly be before the Index one on the bridge.
I can't remember their meetings before that, so I'm not sure if it was before the beginning of Index.
Also, according to this show, Ep 2 is only 1 month after Misaka met Kuroko.

BlueDo - October 11, 2009 12:44 PM (GMT)
Lol, I remember how Kuroko mentions in Index that she made Misaka's former roommate switch out.

Yes, this is before Index.
In the first episode of Index, the conversation gives the impression that Touma and Misaka met for the first time. However, if you pay attention, you can see that it's rather ambiguous, and done this way as not to confuse the viewers.

jdennis007 - October 12, 2009 12:53 AM (GMT)
I never saw Index so I am taking this series for what it is and so far I like it.

kano - October 12, 2009 01:01 AM (GMT)
Seeing (or not seeing) Index wont make much difference so far anyway.
So far it's just a yuri fest with no story.
Though, Index will give you the background of the city and their powers - which may be helpful if they start adding a storyline some time soon ... hopefully ...

tenkenX6 - October 12, 2009 07:24 AM (GMT)
I just finished watching the second episode a short while ago. It was hilarious. However, I would like to see more interaction between Touma and Mikoto. Anyway, I have a feeling this one is going to be one of my favorite series of the fall season.

kano - October 17, 2009 04:11 AM (GMT)
OK, this week (3) was finally not a completely pointless yuri show ... OK up until the conclusion of the story itself - but then ... sigh - they need better script writers - seriously.
And the preview comments for next week? Sound even worse - hopefully they are just a joke ...

SagittaMagica - October 17, 2009 05:38 AM (GMT)
Ok, if Railgun gets 12-13 eps for this season...

What would be the percentage of the "kick-ass-electric-battles" and the "yuri-fanservice"?

EP1-2.... 50-50 T_T

Add that, to the previews... then... well, lets just hope and pray!

BlueDo - October 18, 2009 02:07 AM (GMT)
Original material in ep 3...
In a way, it does kick us into the first arc...

I'm puzzled.
The director for this is the same as the one for Toradora. He doesn't have a problem with putting in enough material in each episode.
It's probably they didn't plan to put the 2nd arc, and decide to drag out the first one.

Oh well, they saved the best moments (Touma) for later.

Ep 4 seems like more filler material... :(

Wavehawk - October 23, 2009 10:04 AM (GMT)
More Kuroko Gags, pls. :D

monkey2k - October 24, 2009 03:22 PM (GMT)
Ep4 covered a lot of Touma, and the best part was watching Misaka go...
What was it again?
Tsun...tsun...tsundara? :/

kano - October 25, 2009 01:27 PM (GMT)
Nah it's Tsunjire :)

So ... watched Ep 4 ... with a quick skim through Ep 3 again beforehand ... VERY quick ... and yet I still noticed this :) (but not the first time I watched it)
It seems Uiharu has interesting ways to program computers to hook into all the video feeds on the campus ...
Ignoring all the bad and misspelt English ... there was this amusing line .... (I highlighted with red)
user posted image
Was glad to see Ep 4 WASN'T about the Setta Babaa!
But it did have a rather more interesting version of that story :)
... Nice car!

The OP is becoming more catchy each week.

Urban Legends:
"Like a guy that has an ability that prevents other abilities from working on him!"
Ha ha. That early scene was a somewhat different version to the one in the first episode of Index!

Notice the magazine that Misaka looks at in the shop early in the show ... Shakugan no Shana on the cover!
That's twice now (or has anyone seen Shana and Kazumi in Ep 2 or 3?)

First good episode in my opinion

But ... got stuck watching a few of the first episodes of Index after seeing this episode ... would have watched a lot more had I not needed to get up early for my kids to get to school early (it's now 12:30am)

They really put a lot of twists on it.
Covering a lot of material, and having two filler episodes already... :eyebrow:

Touma's fight was pretty good.
Lol @ his reluctance, though he did handle the attack pretty well.

Kota - October 28, 2009 02:50 AM (GMT)
Seeing as To Aru Moddo locked the thread, I suppose I'll talk here.

The Index anime turned out to be pretty decent...when Index wasn't around and when it wasn't trying to be funny. Accelerator's arc? Awesome. MISAKA arc? Awesome. Index's arcs? Bah.

I'm still working on it and have a few more to go, but I'll soon be checking out Railgun.

Is it any good?

Skip episodes 2 and 3. 1 and 4 are ok and there should be excellent plot arc next.

scorpiowolf - October 28, 2009 08:45 PM (GMT)
I agree once the lvl upper arc gets underway, it'll be good. Hopefully they'll show the Touma cameo's from that arc as well, I really liked the bit with the exploding bear.

Kota - October 30, 2009 01:16 AM (GMT)
I just saw episode one. From that, I think Railgun will be like Index:

Good when it's not dicking around in the corner with lame jokes and fanservice.

As i said you should skip 2 and 3 :)

kano - November 1, 2009 03:00 AM (GMT)
Ep 5 best few lines :)

Kuroko: There's also some Level 5 called Railgun there. She must be some arrogant, annoying bitch.
Mikoto: Sneeze...

Kota - November 1, 2009 12:12 PM (GMT)
My only real fripe now is that the fights in Index and Railgun really make no sense when you think about the participants powers and such...

Wavehawk - November 7, 2009 01:59 PM (GMT)
Dammit, I am so wishing for a Misaka figma figure now...

Wavehawk - November 14, 2009 12:07 AM (GMT)
Taken from another forum:
QUOTE
There once was a scientific Railgun
For whom shooting sparks was great fun.
The baddies she'd taze,
While spending her days
Eluding her roomie the lesbiun.

I'm up to ep.5 right now and love this series. Can't see why people aren't as fond of it right now, I think the series is hilarious.

BlueDo - November 14, 2009 01:55 AM (GMT)
The reason some people don't like it is because they expected it to be like Index.
Instead, the show right now is being way too light-hearted. Though that most likely will change soon...

Expect it to be like Index? LOL
Yes, well, anyone who does that will certainly not get what they want.

Though it is amusing how often Touma shows up ... ... ... ... Ep 7 especially ... he seems to keep becoming more important in the show each week ... I wonder ...

I'm also sorta wondering if they will include the sisters later on ...

As for light hearted ... I think that finally became a minor part of the story with episode 5 (rather than most of the story for the first 4 episodes)

Wavehawk - November 14, 2009 11:06 AM (GMT)
Sad to say, I prefer Railgun over Index. I marathoned the Index TV series last week. I've got nothing against it, but I prefer the humor in Railgun to the gags in Index.

Oh, by the way...

"A Certain Railgun's Panties" doujin game coming out soon.

al103 - November 14, 2009 02:19 PM (GMT)
Not like Index? Not like Index? It's because it's not like ->> RAILGUN <<- manga there is problem.

If Railgun is slated for a 24 ep release, then they should. Or then again, since the sisters arc was already spotlighted in Index there may be a chance that they wont be in Railgun(that includes Pedo-Accelerator and Loli-LastOrder) :P

Let's see, I also like Railgun more than Index but not because the latter is too blatant about their humor and jokes or that Index, the heroine herself, is a sad excuse for a character of a series of this genre but because the former (IMO) refined the plot better probably after hearing opinions of the latter's script after it was released. Probably one of the drawbacks of the former is that the amount of yuri-jokes is beyond tolerated levels, comparable to the lame humor of the latter :heh:
