Title: Working!
Description: Order of comedic slice of life.

Twilit Libra - April 24, 2010 01:51 AM (GMT)
The basic premise of Working!! is a look into the not so ordinary lives of the workers at Wagnaria, a family restaurant.

Just how unusual are they?

Well, for starters, the main character is one Takanashi Sota, a bespectacled youth of sixteen. What's so unusual about him? He likes small things. Really likes them. Children, puppies, kittens, hamsters, and even sea monkeys, he likes them all. Which is why he started working at Wagnaria in the first place.

See, a waitress at the restaurant, Taneshima (pronounced TaneJima) Poplar, so named in the hope that, just like the tree, she would grow tall, in order to find new workers. To Sota, she's his tiny and adorable senpai, much to her distress.

Other workers include Inami Mahiru (a girl with a fear of men so bad she punches them as soon as she sees them), Todoroki Yachiyo (a twenty-year old girl with a kind attitude, a good figure, and... a katana), and Shirafuji Kyoko (she's the manager, but she doesn't, and can't do any work, besides eating the food Yachiyo makes for her. Did I mention she's a former yankee?).

The rest of the cast of characters are just as widely varied, each bringing their own comedy to the story.

Currently, the manga is seven volumes (and still ongoing), the only 23 chapters have been translated. The anime adaption, airing this season currently has three episodes out.

Pretty good so far, IMHO. I really like the restaurant manager chick. She's really funny(and lazy). :xd:

Here's hoping they get to Yamada. God, that girl's hilarious.

And they've introduced Takanashi's siblings. Nazuna vs. Popular, that's going to be funny.

I'm a few eps behind right now. So little time for anime....being busy all the time.

This is one of my favorites this season (besides Iciban).
I can understand why he is a lolicon, if I had sisters like his I might have become one too.

"How old are you?"

"Me? I'm sixteen."

"Then I'll be sixteen too."

Love that girl.

In general the show is OK - plenty of funny stuff, though it does drag on a bit in my opinion.
I guess the satire and comedy mix is pretty good.

I started when Ep 5 came out and thus had 5 episodes to watch so with that amount of material it was worth watching.
I'd suggest it as a batch at the end of the season for most.

However, a first for me, Ep 9 and crossdressing and it was funny :)
I guess coz it was under duress and there were no guys trying to hit on him ...

And ... it's finished.
Glad that Maya finally got introduced properly - I've been wondering about her since she showed up when Inami's father was there in Ep 9 - though I can't remember if she appeared before that - she probably did though

Well it got better as the series progressed in my opinion.
Comedy is the only real aim of this show and it does it quite well.

The ending was good - even though it was left totally open.
I'll have to look see if the manga is on-going and possibly consider reading it if it is good ... coz I wanna know what happens next :)
I wonder if there will be an S2 - not expecting it coz it didn't seem that popular ... and an S2 would sorta be pushing the story too hard - unless they came up with good new ideas.
I wonder if the "We hope to see you again" at the end means they do hope to have a 2nd seasons?
Of course that doesn't mean there will be.

I REALLY love the OP so it made me wanna get the next episode each week and watch it :D

Ah well - it was popular. I didn't know.

I never read up about it anywhere - I was just going by the total lack of interest here.

Maybe not having fanservice is a problem for lots of AQS members?

So I guess S2 is quite likely then :)

Even though I got less than half of what they were talking about (Seinen and all that untranslated kanji...why must you mock me? WHY?!?!?), I enjoyed looking at the volumes for this series...before MH erased them.

Anyway, I'm hoping for a season two, just so we can see Yamada's "mother" (Otou-san's wife), and Yamada (male). :lmao: Just remembering his interactions with Mahiru (her friends mistake him for her boyfriend since she can talk to him without freaking out too much) and Souta (who goes all clingy jealous on her + Yamada's childhood crush on the cute little Takanashi girl) makes me want to burst out laughing.

According to the ANN article I linked, the Working!! web site ( http://www.wagnaria.com/ ) had some joke trailer put up on April-1
(and a countdown the week before that to April-1 saying they had a new project)
But they replaced it with the real trailer the next day (April-2)
(I didn't see either thus I have no idea what it was so I didn't mention it)

I am a bit concerned about: Atsushi Ootsuki (Ladies versus Butlers!) taking the helm coz Ladies versus Butlers! was a pretty much pointless fanservice (and nothing else) show :(

kano - July 4, 2011 11:46 AM (GMT)
... and another one that is confirmed for next season (Fall 2011) October ...

Yay :)

The web site says it's October, no idea how long it has said that:
http://www.wagnaria.com/

(ANN doesn't seem to say October anywhere yet)
