Based on a PS2 game Amagami (no I've never seen it)

Intro - hmm I wonder what the reason is ...

OP ... oh well ...

Reason ... hmm looks like it's an attempt at starting a days-of-our-lives story except they're at school - not older like "White Album"

Hmm - school story totally without fanservice so far ... rare these days ... OK I'll give it a few more episodes ... but geez they've gotta give up on the Xmas past story ... or if they are drawing it out - it better be dramatic! ... and not nonsensical

The ED looks totally different to the actual first episode ... strange ...

First episode story:
Starts with the lonely depressed lost someone in the past feeling ...
... BUT he has a few friends at school ... MOSTLY female! ... and certainly not the otaku type or lonely guy type, gets on OK with girls.
He likes one and sorta makes friends with her straight away but then confesses and gets turned down ... but not in the usual anime way ... she seems to still like him ... odd
Ends with ... yet again ... the lonely depressed lost someone in the past feeling ...

If the story was actually a completely fanservice anime - it would make sense - but it's odd that it actually isn't ...

The 2nd last sentence of the following ANN description makes me wonder if they are going down the path of a totally messed up story? ...

ANN description:
A second-year high school boy finds himself uneasy during Christmas time due to an experience in the past. However, this year at Christmas, he gets his last chance to ask out a graduating female senior named Haruka Morishima — or one of several other classmates. The story of the anime will be arranged in an omnibus format, with each heroine getting her own version of the story animated. Each heroine will sing her own version of the ending theme song.

My interest for Amagami SS skyrocketed when I read a particular H-doujin(forgot the title) about one of the characters (the long-haired senpai).

Havent watched it ATM, but the words "The story of the anime will be arranged in an omnibus format, with each heroine getting her own version of the story animated." are music to my ears, kinda like how ef went about in the anime series...

Tsukasa was the one who drew me into this series, will definitely watch and see how it goes.

Watched it, and put it on my to watch list for this season, pretty good so far, but still can't say anything more as of the first ep, gonna see how it goes. So does this mean every girl will get the spotlight? Hmmm pretty fair.

Haruka Morishima is the beautiful, eccentric, and popular kind of girl, joined many clubs then quits later, but still remain popular to them. Hmmm, where have I heard that before? :D

Junichi has more backbone than I thought, unlike other spineless protagonists. His persistence broke Haruka's defense, good for him.

If this series will really be 13 eps, with 6 heroines, I guess Haruka's arc will end next ep.

While looking around the net for episode counts for shows ... for this show, the wikipedia says 24 episodes - so that would be 4 shows per girl - that would also make a lot more sense since:
1) Haruka is already getting at least 3
2) 2 shows certainly does seem short to go through the whole story with one girl

Does the girl you associated with Haruka wear a head band too? albeit a yellow one? :xd:


They may not have the same episode counts, like perhaps just 2 for some of them..

Didn't expect this arc to extend up to the next ep, so that means there will be a poor girl who will only have one ep for her.

Nah - as I said there is supposed to be 24 episodes - which would probably mean 4 for each of the 6 girls.
It's looking likely that the next episode will finish Haruka's arc.

24? Didn't know that, I thought it will only have 12 eps, not that I'm complaining, yeah 24 eps will be just right.

Ok, I must do this justice, I just cant sum up what I feel for this series in measly wordings....

The prime points that were specifically designed to hit directly at something that reacts in each and every one of us were:

1. The Shed...scene
2. The cafeteria "play"
3. Nyan...nyan...nyan...nyan...
4.????
5. PROFIT!

If one didn't get any reaction from any of these, then this series ain't for them.
Itou-sama seems to have used too much tsun-tsun in her Ookami-role, that Morishima was left with an over-abundance of dere.

Now, to watch the episode again...

Yeah I've already commented about some of that - but - the cafeteria play was odd.
It would be OK in a classroom on their own, but in the cafeteria in front of all the other students it was out of place ...

... and we're gonna get 6 different version of this? What other weirdness have they thought up? :P

... and I'd guess the show is following the PS2 game - coz the game wouldn't be 18+ (since it's a PS2 game) and the show is doing stuff so far that they probably would put in such a game to make it more 'interesting' without stepping into the 18+ arena.

Well, the keyword was "stimulating", and that is exactly what the guy delivered.
The cafeteria is one of the optimal place for "stimulation".

Well after watching 4 shows now and seeing Haruka's "end"
(no not her butt/thigh "太もも" as Junichi wrote in his book last episode)
it seems clear now what the rest of the show should be like.

Basically, 6 short 4 episode anime shows
I do wonder how each of the previous characters will appear in the following character's arcs.

So I guess this is pretty much exactly like a VN game? (I've never actually played one)
Where you get to choose the path, or in the anime case, the arc, and can then start again and try a different path.

Yup, in Anime format. There is one "common" route which introduces the entire harem characters, then it branches out to individual routes depending on choices made along the way. And I still want a "Nii-nii" route, even just as an OVA.

This is a novel, no pun intended, way to do a harem show, usually important aspects of individual routes are sacrificed for the sake of the larger coherence of the show leaving those of us who don't play VN's confused about the fanboyisms on the forums(I still don't understand why Ryou from Clannad seems to be universally hated). Hopefully this'll become a trend to future shows.

Ahahaha, this is so good, they became a stupid happy couple 10 years later, I wonder if they will do that in every arc. So the next will be a close classmate arc. (I always get a smile on my face whenever Haruka say "Wow!" :) )

I was thinking, what if Shuffle! went with this approach years ago?
1 route for Kaede, 1 for Asa, 1 for Lisianthus, 1 for Nerine and 1 for Pedobear's sake Primula.
Of course, I dont hate how the Shuffle anime fared(Asa fanboy reporting in) but it would have been nice if they did use Amagami's approach, especially since Kaede's route was partly dark(go play it right nao! not just for Yuko Goto, BUT FOR KAEDE TOO!), quite in contrast to the cheery "atmosphere" the series is advertising, and Sia and Nerine routes are kinda "intriguing" too.

Well the next arc (Kaoru) should certainly be 'different' to Haruka's ... ... ...

... and I wonder if the order will match the start of the OP - (I thought that before the Ep 5 preview)

... the last one (class rep) should also be very different :P

Ive checked out the manga for Amagami, apparently there are 3 series for it for an individual character(Ayatsuji, Nanasaki and "Sex-hair").

Just read through Amagam:Love Goes On which is abour Nanasaki Ai(the one from the Swim club), and wow.. if she really was like that... WAY TO GO JUNICHI!
Currently has 3(+a .5 chapter), t'was fine too, I couldn't believe how cute that cold girl became...
Im looking forward to her Yukana voiced anime counterpart!

Yeah, I started reading those 3 when the anime was announced(I also read the Love Plus ones too to be safe), I got a kick out of Junichi's "enthusiasm" for modest busts lol. :D

Well Ep 5 was a little different to what I thought.
I was expecting a total restart.

Then the "2 years later" reference at the park (or was it only 1 year?) seemed like Haruka also dumped him?!?
He did say about how he might see whoever it was again at school.

Then we see Haruka in the infirmary also (and she's part of the Ep 6 preview commentary)

Basically, I guess that's what's going to make this 'reset' idea good or bad - how well the following stories fit in with the previous stories - since they already seem to have some form of overlap.
i.e. at what point do the paths diverge? - and do we see the point where it diverges due to a different decision?

Haruka didn't dump him as the events leading to him and Haruka meeting up was never realized, if she really did break up with Haruka or if this is indeed a continuation of that arc, then why would Hibiki forget about Junichi?

And he was probably referring to that other girl that dumped him, not Haruka.

As Ive said a few posts back, VN/Eroge plot standards are:
a Common Route - This is when all of the characters get their first appearance, base character development/introductions are usually done here.

Branching Heroine Routes - This is when the plot diverges into the individual routes for the Heroines. Pretty self-explanatory.

The common route was already tackled in Episode 1, they don't need to show us another moping Junichi just because the series "reset", As I've said above, Hibiki doesn't know Junichi, the "event" where her and Junichi were introduced to each other never happened because this time around we where going into Kaoru's route. In the game, there would have been a choice along the lines of:
~Stay in School~
~Leave School~
or something like that... and Junichi chose to "Leave School", hence him bumping into Haruka at the Library never/will not occur, this time around though, he bumped with Kaoru.

It also explains why Sae said...

Because the event where Junichi helped her was part of the "common route" at Episode 1.

This is actually why I like this format for a VN-2-ANIME adaptation better, in VNs we have to wade through the common route EACH & EVERYTIME we tackle a route. Here, since redundancy is no more, we can focus more on the individual heroine plots than read through piles of redundant text again and again and again...
The reset was done this way because EP 1 already filled the character development stuff for the rest of the routes.

It was never really said, but if Junichi was dumped 2 years prior the current timeline then that would be when he was a 3rd Year Middle-Schooler or a 1st year High-Schooler . Kaoru and Junichi apparently where friends for 3 Years (So they met at around 2nd Year Middle School) and would make the sequence before the OP, Kaoru inviting Junichi to a Christmas Party, logical.

You know I had this sudden thought about who the girl is who dumped him (that's at school) ... my guess is gonna be Tsukasa.
This would make sense since she is probably the last arc and it would also explain the looks in the first arc between them.
Just thought I'd put that out there now so I can be completely wrong and find out when it happens :)

I just read the manga and that was a very bad move. I just found the secrets of one of the girls.... I think it will be better when it gets revealed in the anime T_T

It's more likely the game's mystery girl is the one who dumped him, Tsukasa he only met in high school if you read the mangas.
