Avatar: The Legend of Korra

I actually don't know where to put this since this is neither anime nor manga, but I'm reserving this spot for future discussion.

No need to wait till April to watch it.

Quick thoughts on the premiere. I think Korra is pretty cool and her facial expressions are priceless. Most of the original cast are gone, but we still have Katara and some other characters yet to be revealed. Katara was about to explain what happen to Zuko's mom, but instead we get interrupted by her grandkids. It was nice to see the descendants of Toph and Katara. Metal bending discovered by Toph is now incorporated by the police lead by Chief Lin Bei Fong....the daughter of Toph.

Who was the husband?!?

Tenzin, the son of Aang and Katara is the air bender teacher of Korra. We see another air bison, but I thought Appa was the last of his kind? Brolin and Mako are benders who participate in Pro-bending...a sport in New Republic. Korra is now a part of their team. Brolin (earth-bender) is the new comedy relief (Sokka) and Mako (fire-bender) reminds me of Zuko, but without all that angst. It also looks like the the show is already trying to pair him up with Korra. A new batch of villains called the equalist want to stop all bending and is lead by Amon, a masked figure who remains anonymous.

I need more episodes now.

Here's a link to a tour of Republic City. It has some nice facts and details pertaining to the world of the avatar.

A couple of fun facts found:

Aang thought that Appa was the last of his kind, but found a heard of sky bison during the 100 year war.

Before Aang's death at the age of 66, he asked the white lotus tribe to protect the new avatar.

I'm not even half way done looking through all of this.

Seeing the episodes so far, Chief Lin Bei Fong is like Barbara Gordon from Batman Beyond or Commander Feral from SWAT Kats, where she's like the type that doesn't approve of vigilantes and thinks that professional law enforcement should handle all those dangerous situations...

Lol I'm still waiting to see the gentle side of Chief Lin Bei Fong. Could be possible.

Episode 4 was so awesome and Amon is such a great villain. He has the ability to take away bending powers permanently. I thought only Avatar Aang could do that.

We'll see Lin's soft side once she fights with korra
also.. that northern(?) water tribe councilman reminds me of that general who forced Aang into the avatar state... but worse
i do wanted to see tenzin rip him a new one.

I can't help but imagine the horrible shipping of Lin and Korra from the fan community.

As for episode 5 of Korra, Poor Bolin. I still support you!

only for amon to say "according to plan"
things happen among them, annoying pretty boy gets a one-on-one against korra and he gets smacked.. HARD!
but they're not as important as the fact that
Tenzin and Lin used to be a COUPLE
and he DUMPED HER!!!

[spoiler=spoiler are spoilerific]Given that damn bastard tarrlok shown his true colors i'm guessing that tarrlok might be Amon. I mean kinda like how Palpatine was playing both sides, i'm thinking he might be doing something similar here.[/spoiler]

Stuff from the episode "Out of the Past"

-Lin Bei Fong busts out Mako, Bolin, and Asami
-This Yakone character is a bloodbending crimelord
-Team Avatar learns of Tarrlok's ruse after interrogating an equalist
-Tarrlok is Yakone's son
-Tarrlok had an unfortunate encounter with Amon

-Mako redirected lightning on one of the Equalist mechs
-Team Avatar managed to save Tenzin from being taken to Amon
-Equalists lay siege on Air Temple Island
-Jinora, Ikki, and Meelo are finally seen in action against the Equalists... Meelo's fighting skills are hilarious...
-Pema finally gives birth...
-The airbenders and air acolytes evacuate on sky bisons
-Lin Bei Fong, who was riding with the airbenders, fights off two pursuing Equalist zepplins... and becomes the latest casualty to Amon...
-It appears there's a Fire Nation fleet en route to Republic City... and the General is named Iroh...

"Skeletons in the Closet"

-United Forces fleet was taken by surprise when the Equalists used high-speed aircraft
-General Iroh, the grandson of Fire Lord Zuko, was rescued by Korra after the attack
-Korra and Mako infiltrate the captured Air Temple Island to ambush Amon, but found an imprisioned Tarlokk
-Tarlokk reveals that Amon is actually his brother, Noatak
-So what Amon really does to take away bending is by using blood-bending

"Endgame"

-Asami, Bolin, and Iroh run into an invisible electric fence while trying to ground the Equalist planes and were captured
-Mako and Korra interrupt Amon's rally about the leader's identity, but proved to be difficult to convince the crowd...
-Amon had Tenzin and his airbending kids on display, but luckily, Korra and Mako managed to free them
-Naga frees Asami, Bolin, and Iroh and they continue sabotaging the aircraft
-Iroh takes an Equalist aircraft and shoots down the other planes bound for Bumi's fleet
-Asami fights her father
-As Korra tries to hide from Amon, Amon uses bloodbending to bring her out.
-Korra lost her bending, but her airbending was unlocked
-The Lieutenant was stunned after witnessing Amon's bloodbending and attacks him for lying all this time.
-After Korra airbended Amon into the water, everyone saw who Amon (Noatak) really is (even that scar was fake)
-We won't be seeing Tarrlok and Noatak again...
-Korra got her bending back after seeing Aang's spirit and went into the Avatar State
-Lin Bei Fong got her bending back.

1) i always thought that amon was tarlok and bloodbending was used to fake energy bending... guess i was partially right
2) Naga is now a metalbender!
3) as for "we won't be seeing tarlokk and amon ever again" you realize they never showed the body right? you should know better!

So much of it.
The two bloodbenders who were introduced through flashbacks.
That unsatisfying boat suicide.
Korra getting her bending back not because of anything she did, but purely BECAUSE SHE WAS DEPRESSED.
Constant shipping throughout the series.

just because it was a murder suicide, doesn't mean amon and/or tarlokk are really dead, you know.

Well that was depressing and anti-climactic.

The season was short and the life of a potentially awesome villain was cut short. F U Tarlokk for being an hero. =_=

I also knew Korra was going to bring back the benders their powers via Aang as I have mentioned earlier.

I checked the Avatar wiki, and they say that Legend of Korra is going to have an addition 26 episodes... the total will be 52 episodes.
