Posted by: erizo Nov 25 2008, 12:45 AM
| Aquastar-anime (Scanlation division) is currently looking for new active and dedicated members to be part of our team. The main reason we are doing this is to try and push our Negima weekly releases back again, we want to bring you again these chapters right on time and this time we also want you to be part of it. This also enables the group on taking up new and different projects. If you have enough time, commitment and would like to work with fun group, don't hesitate in posting here. The key words are active and dedicated the rest is very simple. What we need:
Although we are allowing Temporary applications, we encourage everyone to try and apply as full time members, we are a community, we're friends and we're family and we'd love to have more people on board full time. Temporary positions are subject to change and recruitment might be closed sooner depending on the number of full time applicants we have. What to do:
If you have any questions, don't hesitate in asking here or PM Jaceryl, erizo or conman. Off-topic posts will be deleted without warnings. We are looking forward to see many applicants and hope to see some new faces as part of the team. Aquastar-anime (Fansub division) lead by Aquastar831 himself is also recruiting: [Spoiler=Click here for information on how to join the Fansub division]We are still recruiting for additional translators for the fansub team. Looking for a few people with a good working knowledge of the Japanese language in both listening and reading comprehension to translate for our current projects. We're a pretty laid back group, since real life things take priority first. All we ask is that you keep us posted and be easily reachable or available in case we need to ask you any questions. Thank you for those who have contacted us so far and we'll definitely be getting back to you soon. Please contact me if you are interested. | Let's see some people. You guys apply and I will too. If we can get say, ten to twelve editors for Negima, we each only have to handle one page a week. Which certainly beats trying to match a single editor doing ten pages a week. What would you prefer? Three hours work during downtime? Or having one person burn themselves out on a thirty hour 'workweek'? That being said. I'm In All or Nothing style. If we get enough Editors to task it out nicely, I'm in. Because I'm not going to shuffle a full editor workload on my own. I just don't have THAT kind of patience. Admiral Tigerclaw Position: Editor, Negima. One Page per chapter. Availability. I'm always here. Just email a page and the translated script and I'll deal with it. I'm so adicted to the internet that if I can't do something, you'd be the first to know. Credentials: See this: http://admiraltigerclaw.deviantart.com/art/TOTAL-ANNEGILATION-MAX-58660845 And this: http://admiraltigerclaw.deviantart.com/art/Making-Annegilation-58666670 Like I said, everybody or nobody. If we get a team, I'm in. If not. Well, I'm not doing this by myself. |

I don't think we'd turn down one page of cleaning+rebuilding, although we'd need maybe more than one person to make that worthwhile or at least a significant rebuild. It would probably be best to leave the typesetting to one person for consistency with style if that's the case. However if ATC is a good rebulider, then allocating him a difficult or one double page would make it worth recruiting him. ATC, if you're interested we can send you the editor's test. Just say the word. erizo edit: Thank you for your application, you will be contacted shortly.

Send it to me some time sunday... I have thanksgiving to deal with, and then I work in the evening on friday. (Black Friday *DREAD*.) And I work Saturday... so I'll be worn out.

Heh. Retail, too, eh? Pencil me in as a proofer, guys. I know I can do that. I have a friend that's an author, and I used to help him out with finding errors in the stuff he sent off. PM me to let me know what you need from me regarding contact info or if I need to go on IRC or something (I...dislike IRC...). Go ahead and send me the editor's tests, too, if you want. I've got a good handle on Photoshop, and I know I could at least do stuff like typesetting, but frankly, I don't know how long it would take me to do it, or the rest. I might have a better idea if I try it a few times. I mean, how hard could it be? (That last part's a joke. |

Before I regret for not pushing myself to join the team, may I have a copy of the editor's test to see how much skill is involved?

Done. You will receive a link via private message on these forums. |

* Name: Cobranaconda * Position you're applying to: Proofing (my photoshop doesn't work, plus I'm a photographer, so my photoshop XP is limited to retouching) * Type of applicant (Full time or partial): Fulltime * Availability: Practically every night, GMT time. May get sidetracked occasionally by computer problems or random going aways, but I'm pretty good at finding other computers to let people know when I'm not around By the way, I'm British. Hope that doesn't matter. I do know American English, but if I see a really weird American spelling that I don't know, I'll probably fix it Also, no past experience, but have to start somewhere I guess. Proofing is reading through the translation .txt file, right? Rather than checking the finished products before they're released. Can never remember which is which between Proof and QC Edit: By no past experience I mean in terms of Scanlating groups. I've edited poetry compilations and beta'd fanfics before though.

Thank you for your application. We will contact you ASAP, please bear with us during this holiday weekend (for the US) and be patient in case you haven't been contacted already.

Okay then, except my experience, limited as it is, is with Paint Shop Pro 7, and there no chance in heck I'll be able to purchase Adobe Paint anytime this side of the next moon-shot. (Basic, minimal effort trim and clean jobs in my pactio cards siggy link.) |

I've read two your speed scanlations (c234, c235). I know you miss editors for them, so your quality is not good as older chapters Although my group make speed (with cnet's translation) too, but I still like your editing skill. I hope I can help you... a bit. I'm main editor in my group, most of speed scanlations were made by me... alone. Maybe you think "how can a girl do it alone?", but I have some free time. So, I can help you about cleaning. I sent you cleaned c236, check your PM. If you like it, we can say more. Thank for reading.
Posted by: conman Dec 27 2008, 12:36 AM
Hey WariorKK. Thanks for applying. We know that people can do the whole thing by themselves; it's not unheard of, it's just a lot of work. Your help would be most welcome. I'll wait to hear from erizo about your cleaned 236, and you'll be contacted in due time.

PsychoJohnnyT ProofReader and Editor FullTime I have quite a bit of free time onmy hands I am applying for the job of a proofreader simply incase you need any more. I was born and raised in the U.S. so I can speak and read english. But if there is no need for anymore proofreaders, then the job of being an editor would be no problem. I am familiar with both Gimp and Adobe CS3, and I consider myself a pretty decent artist. I look forward to working with you and beign a part of the AQS team.

Posted by: Chachazero Feb 3 2009, 10:31 AM
Chachazero Editor Full Time Except for Mondays and Tuesdays I should be fine. I've never done editing for manga before, but you gotta start somewhere. I need to build my proficiency in Photoshop anyways. I can also proofread if that's something you need as well.
Posted by: erizo Feb 17 2009, 05:38 PM
Updated first post. As for right now, we are NO longer accepting more applications for proofreaders. We're full, sorry. More like with the current active Editors/Rebuilders we have it's more than enough to move forward. We still need Typesetters and Rebuilders, though. Keep those applications coming!
Posted by: Chachazero Mar 2 2009, 07:31 PM
Chachazero here. We really do need some more editors. I remember a time when Aquastar used to release once a week and was very caught up. Those times can return but I alone can't do that. We're gonna have to get some more editors folks! Anyone who can use photoshop please feel free to give it a shot! All it takes is a good eye and some patience. Rebuilding's really pretty easy. Inserting text is even easier.
Posted by: erizo Mar 12 2009, 01:52 PM
Updated first post. We're still evaluating/looking for more Rebuilders & Typesetters. We could also use some Dedicated cleaners, too. Now that we have two active rebuilders pages need to be cleaned ASAP.

I never worked with big groups, but made some stuff on my own, though most of the time I was behind groups and nobody ever downloaded my scans. Whatever. http://rapidshare.com/files/234388950/Medaka_Box_001_Unfinished.zip. Maybe I shouldn't have waited 5 days for a translation to be posted on MH before starting to clean the chapter. I gave up since someone else was intelligent enough to do so. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=HBSCRBKF. I bothered to erase and type again onomatopeas in this manga, just wanted to boast about it. There's also the color spread of the first chapter, since I erased most of the text on it and I wanted to praise myself again. |

If you can rebuild and at a good rate, we want you
Posted by: fenyxofshadows Sep 21 2009, 06:31 PM
* Name: fenyxofshadows / Fenyx * Position you're applying to: Editor (for Negima! if possible) * Type of applicant (Full time or partial): Full time, if possible * Availability: Normally every day, but not during school... I normally have unlimited computer access at home, and can make up time quickly * Experience: I don't really use the Photoshop-type programs, but I know how, and if possible, can learn how to use them. The closest thing to Photoshop that I have used is GIMP, but that's because I'm @EDIT: Could you send me a copy of the editor's test so that I can see what's in store? @EDIT: OK, I give up... I don't have the dedication needed for this
Posted by: kano Sep 21 2009, 07:38 PM
GIMP is good - not cheap (It just means you can't typeset or edit after typesetting has been done if you don't/can't use PS)
Posted by: CrossChris Sep 22 2009, 06:45 AM
Name: CrossChris Position: Editor (and SFX translator at a pinch) Type: Full time, in theory Availability: My job's hours are all over the place so I can't lay down specific times. Don't have any formal experience in editing but have successfully blundered my way through Photoshop enough to know its main features. As long as it doesn't require keen artistic ability I can rebuild most things, for instance. I have zero knowledge of typesetting, however, so I can't do anything there. If I haven't scared you off yet, then could you maybe send me some kind of test so I can see what's needed?
Posted by: Kraziel Oct 31 2009, 02:18 AM
