---EDIT---

The second version of AQS 1000% is out! This time, the singers are: Cobranaconda, Esperman, Sakurazaki_Emiri and Rai. There is also a very special release sung by Cobranaconda, be sure to check it out! Scroll down to the "releases" section for the links.

---EDIT END---

The Aquastar 1000% Sparking Project

Me, Esperman and Rai are starting a project called AQS 1000%. Basically, we want to make our own versions of Sparking 1000% (opening of the Negima!? anime) by asking the AQS members (and any interested guests) to send us a recording of themselves singing the song.

Everytime I receive 3 or 4 submissions, I will edit them together and make one new version of the song. The objective is creating a big compilation with as many singers we can find. The project is for fun so you shouldn't worry if you can't sing well. All I ask is that everyone tries to get the lyrics correctly for the most parts of the song. You don't need to have a perfect voice, so don't be shy about participating! Also, don't worry if you don't know how to pronounce the japanese words, just try to sing as close as possible to the pronunciation in the original songs. Plus, remember that not all of your lines are going to be used, so don't worry if there are a couple of verses that you can't sing.

For every 3 versions we release, there will be also a special version which will be a compilation of the last 3 ones. So even after your version is released you can still send me more recordings in order to increase the quality of the compilation!

Rules/Instructions:

-Use the full version of 1000% Sparking (that has around 04min 24sec), not the TV size. (link)
-No background noises if possible.
-The file must contain ONLY your voice, NOT the instrumental music
-You have to be listening to the song while you sing, and that can be done either by using headphones or by setting the volume of your speakers low enough so the microphone won't pick up its sound.
-Try your best to get the timing right.
-You can send as many attempts as you want.
-Leave a blank space between the first and last chorus, where the dialogue part should go.
-You can send your recording to me via e-mail (mimpedro@gmail.com), Youtube Personal Message (my account is TheObjectionable) or by forum PMs. In order to do that, just upload the file using a site like RapidShare and post the resulting link in your PM or in this thread.
-After you are done with the singing, I'll give you instructions to the dialogue part. Once you submit it, you can relax and leave the rest to us!

Ok ok, I wasn't up to singing, BUT you can keep me on the list because I might be able to muster up the courage to contribute...

But I'm tied with options 1 and 3...

The original dialogue part sounds like it would be a blast... (So you could also sign me up to help you write an original dialogue...)

But the first option may be the easiest for most people who may not want to go through singing the entire song... (Some people may not know the second chorus or might not want to sing for four and a half minutes...)

I'm tied between the two and I can't really decide on which one I'd be interested in...

I'll vote a little later...

Heh, good to see the thread's finally up though...

I'm just poking in the thread, but if you're making multiple versions, wouldn't it make sense to do some with 1 and some with 3? I'm sure that a lot of people wouldn't want to sing for more than a minute and a half, but the people who want to should be able to do a full version of it.

That's just my two cents, anyway.

We're only going to do as many versions as needed or as many as people are willing to sign up for...

If you want to help, then tell Boo... (Like he said, we need singers...)

BTW, you don't have to be good at singing or speaking English or Japanese...

You have no choice, you'll end up singing either way =P *cracks whip*

No just kidding... =P It's up to you, but still, I completely support you to sing biggrin.gif

Come on, we all know how you like this song. I really doubt that any of us can sing 1000% perfectly. This project is just for fun so there's no need to feel shy about participating...

Edit:

And about what Tash and Esperman said, I guess you guys are right... But now the poll's already open, so I don't know what to do...

Well, let's just wait 'til we have enough votes so we can see what the majority of the AQS members want... After the poll's closed, we can make versions of all options, but it's always good to know what the people want the most...

I probably will sing in at least one of the versions, so no need to worry about me chickening out...

Now my concern is getting people to actually sign up for this...

We might need to mass PM for this...

Eh, if everyone's going to be going with option 2 and there happens to be a lot of people signing up to sing, then we're gonna need lyrics for the other versions...

The only other versions, that I know of, that have lyrics online is the Karakuri, McDowell, and Hakase version as well as the Sasaki, Yukihiro, and Kuu version...

I don't know where I can find any other versions' lyrics...

Apparently, Anna_Hawkins of TFC Negima (Forum and site...) is working on the !? songs... (Lyrics-wise...)

She's got all of the Happy Material lyrics up if you wanna switch to that, but then we can't really make up our own lyrics unless someone is a good songwriter...

hmm...

this is quite a good idea, but how about we all sing an english, non-anime related song too?

something everyone knows, like, i don't know, satalite of love by lou reed or imagine by john lennon or something

it's not because i don't like J-music (i don't, but that isn't the point), it's because really it'll be easier as we all speak english and it'll be more of a kind of community thing

I love Japanese Music so I'm ALL UP FOR IT~! laugh.gif

I've practiced quite a bit this song so I'm ready whenever you are. Boo, do you need us to just send our voice clips singing the song without the music? (Keeping in mind we need to have pauses and what not when we sing during each verse?)

Itsy Bitsy Spider anyone?

Hahahaha...NO XD

I really wanna sing this. Is it gonna end up just being the NegiStar 1000%Sparking Ver.? Maybe we could send this to Akamatsu! (Though I'm sure he wouldn't really care..unless we:

-dressed up
-danced to it
-had a green screen for all those shots in the OP
-got hundreds of desks to jump off of
-and credit him at the end? biggrin.gif

To be honest, I think it will depend on how good you do. Personally, I'm somewhat interested, but I want to see how the project turns out first. I think that's the case with a lot of other people, too. If the first version turns out well, I'm sure that a lot of people will be more willing to try.

That's true for a lot of things like this. Nobody wants to do it until they see someone else do it.

Great minds think alike, eh?

Which is exactly why I'm not going to be in the first version...

But hey, sign up for it at least...

Everyone who signs up now doesn't HAVE to sing in the first version...

As for dressing up and dancing to it... (I'd rather not get into a mini-skirt...)

You could always watch the concerts if you want to know how they dance to it... (Also, I forget which Negi-pa it was, but Kanda, Akemi demonstrates how to dance to 1000% Sparking and Al-Ly-Ya...)

So you could always look at that for instruction... (Though it's in Japanese though...)

It comes with pictures, so I guess that wouldn't be a problem...

I suck at dancing (Even if there are instructions to it...), so I may have to skip out on the dancing part...

But seriously, yeah, Boo said he wouldn't start on the project until after Christmas... (He's visiting his grandma...)

He said you could always record yourself and send the file to him at anytime and he'll look over it and edit as he needs when he gets to it...

Ooo if someone can get a nice 1000% Sparking OP Pic with me on it (basically Negi) photoshopped really well that could encourage others to be part of this project.

Let's get excited people~!

Well, we could already start writing the dialogue so things will be almost ready when I come back from vacations...

The only problem is, how many people will sing the first version?

we need 3 or 4 people, so considering that me, Esperman and Negistar are confirmed to be singing the first version, we have two options: write a text to be played by us three or wait for a 4th person to join and write a text for 4 people...

I really wish we had more females, but it looks we'll have to make an iniciative in order to encourage people to join the project... It would be really nice if some AQS girls got interested in taking part of this project.

I don't think I might sing in the first version... (I kinda get stage fright...)

QUOTE
I'd be more worried about people keeping up with the fast parts.

Unless people who are thinking about singing it have never really sung it through once, then I don't think that's anything too major to worry about...

But eh, I guess we should give time to people, so they can practice singing it without having to pause or get behind...

I mean, since we're just recording our voices, I'm pretty sure people don't have to worry about memorizing the entire song... (I mean, I'm pretty sure they could just read through the lyrics while singing it...)

But getting the beat down and the words in the right places is the most challenging part...

Though if you've got that down, I don't think there's much else to mess up on... (Especially if the TV size option wins...)

The hardest option is definitely gonna be option 2 though...

Personally, I can sing through the entire song perfectly and I'm pretty sure I can get the Kagurazaka/Springfield/Konoe/Sakurazaki dialogue part down if needed...

But otherwise, I don't think messing up will be that much of a factor...

Plus, we could always edit out the parts where people did bad on and give certain people solo parts like in the versions the seiyuu's sing...

Most likely, Boo's gonna want this project done with the original Japanese lyrics...

When he mentioned something about english songs, he was just using that as another thing we can do besides the 1000% Sparking project to get this project started...

That's why I suggested we sing Itsy Bitsy Spider on the side while we do the 1000% Sparking project...

ohh I see I see.

I should probably get my voice copy done soon! It's gonna be so much fun! Maybe we could...hmm something interesting we could do. We could..advertise this 1000%Sparking project as a boost to help the webwide community view aquastar. Maybe we can Youtube advertisements which tell them something huge will reach Aquastar on a certain date (say Valentines Day). Maybe if Boo's cool with this, we could submit a request to Aquastar831 and ask for approvals. ^^;

If we made a youtube submission, I was thinking of just using the opening sequence... I mean, like if it was pretending to be a new version of the opening.

Maybe at the end of it all you guys can release a full version of 1000% sparking....the one that goes for 10 minutes laugh.gif

I would sing it but my singing sucks and the only version I ever listen to is the 31 girls version.....

"But I'm a dreaming girl and I hope you Happiness forever!" laugh.gif

Who cares if your singing's bad...

So's mine, but I'm still up for the challenge...

Otherwise, I hope we can get that many people for the 15 min version...

ooh... interesting. I'm willing to sing.. I'm not sure if I'll have enough time but please put me on the list. I'm for number two.. but for option three, does the "full version" mean the 4:20~ minute song or the 15-minute one?

Not really up for dancing though... gomen. sleep.gif

Sweet, another member wants to sing...

The third option is the four minute version...

We're gonna use the karaoke version and then make up our own dialogue for the part where they talk...

I am agreeing with Boo that we get a soundless Negima!? 1000% Sparking Opening and just dub our voices into it (singing the Japanese Lyrics) and then somewhere at the end we write "1000%Sparking~! AQS Ver.!"

HOWEVER!

IF we are to do the full 4min version we'll have to make some sort of a music video since the animated OP is only 1:30min. Maybe we could show some fight scenes or something for a min of negi and eva and others, then gradually go into the OP sequence when we have to sing 1000% once last time in a whole verse (since the song plays out that way like the OP). Sorry this must've been a really confusing post to read but I'll lay it out clearer later.

I understood what you wrote NegiStar...

Though we're probably going to sing to the full version of the song no matter which option is chosen... (I'm pretty sure there's a TV-size karaoke version of the song...)

As for a music video with the full version, I remember that within one of the openings, (During the McDowell, Karakuri, and Hakase version...), they actually sing most of the song... (It was the suka episode, #19...)

The opening consisted of two phases, the first one was where the characters were all suka's and then it followed with the regular version...

I don't think the entire song was played, but it was most of it...

We could use that and then put in a few other stuff incase it isn't as long as the entire song...

I'm still waiting to see if I have enough courage for this.

Plus Note:

No ones gonna care how good or bad you sing in Japanese. If they laugh at you, you can always dare them to sing in Japanese.

If we do Option 2, my choice would be Setsuna's dialog, I always wanted to say, "o-mamori itashimasu!"

BUT we have to figure out who sings what part in the beginning (They don't do it all together)

But we can mix it all together... but it might be off sync (Even if we use a program to mix it)

Sorry I haven't responded in a while >.> I rarely have a chance to go on.

I'm assuming once we come out with a first version and it gets decent reviews, I'm sure this project will jump start...

It seems like people want to see someone/people do it first before they jump in... (And admittingly, I'm one of them...)

But as for the solos part, I was thinking everyone who's going to sing in the first version sings the entire song, and then when Boo's going through editing, he can choose who he'll want to give solos and what not...

As for it being off-sync, I'm not worried about that...

Unless the people singing it can't keep a beat, then I'm not worried about anyone going off-sync... (Off-key maybe, but that's not an issue... It isn't a singing contest, it's just for fun...)

I'm assuming that people sending in recordings will do so in the fashion that Boo or Rai said...

Basically, they'll put their mic or their recording medium in front of their mouths but sing it while listening to the song with headphones or having the volume low enough so that the mic or recording instrument doesn't pick up the song in the background, for those who don't have access to headphones of any kind...

I mean, you don't have to sing the lyrics without having the song in the background considering it would be a lot easier to keep on beat if you've got something to sing to...

Basically that's what I'm thinking about doing...

When I record for the version I'm singing in, whether that's the second one or some future version, I'm gonna wear headphones and listen and sing to either the voiceless or the version of the song that I'm going to sing to...

That way my mic won't pick up the song...

If everyone sings with the song in the background and Boo mixes all of it in the background, the song's just gonna drown out the voices... (I've actually mixed all of the 1000% Sparking versions before...)

When I combined all of them and played them, the song mainly stuck out and I could barely hear any voices just cause the actual song is in every recording...

But yeah, I'd say that everyone who's singing in the first version just sing the entire song and leave all the soloing and editing to Boo...

BTW, you don't have to just sing once and send that particular recording to Boo...

If you feel like you messed up and wanted to re-try, then feel free to do so, it isn't like you only have three tries and then it's game over or anything like that...

Otherwise, good luck to the people who are thinking about singing in the first version and I wish y'all the best of luck...

That's alright if you're Japanese isn't too good...

But I'm glad to know that you're willing to participate...

Heh, more and more people are signing up...

We actually might be able to muster up enough people to sing the 15 minute version... (Or at least have that many people joined...)

I found something interesting... Click: VOCALOID2 Singing 1000% Sparking!

Maybe someone with the program should also make Miku Hatsune sing....
