Seriously now, the ad says multiple times that the maps represent 3G coverage. AT&T looks like it's just grasping at straws. Seriously, spend that money on new towers, not lawyers. |

Dang, and I was thinking about getting an iPhone too...
I may just end up having to stick with my old phone until this dies down... Unfortunately, my second choice was the new Blackberry Storm that they're going to make... Seems like my top two choices are now at war... |

It's a tricky business. On the one hand, competition helps customers keep prices down, but it creates this balkanized network of different standards and carrier-exclusive smartphones. For instance, I can't get a Motorola Droid since it's only on Verizon, while I have T-mobile, etc.

^I feel you...
I also have T-Mobile, though the Storm (And its successor...) is/will be on Verizon while the iPhones are on AT&T... This post has been edited by Esperman on Nov 3 2009, 10:28 PM |

But all that it's been going on for years, ever since Mobile number portability became available. That's no news stuff. If you want X telephone number, you can switch to that carrier. That's why they make those 18-24 months contracts because by the time your phone will be long old, specially if it's a smartphone. |

^Again that's true...
I don't know... Maybe I'm just in that "let me see if I can have the best phone possible" phase and forgetting that technology is always getting better, so I'll never have that "best phone"... But I'm still going to wait and see if those two companies will drop their rates or at least do some sort of special promotion deal or something... |

I actually can't switch since it's not my plan; I'm using my family's plan so I can call their phones for free. Were it a more consolidated service like in Europe, I wouldn't have to worry so much about any of that, but it's not. And by the time my 2 year service agreement is up, all of the good phones that came out now will be long gone. Ultimately, the thing that annoys me the most is the use of two different carrier systems (GSM vs. CDMA) and create these ridiculous exclusivity deals. I'd be willing to buy an unlocked Droid if it were offered, but it's simply not compatible with T-Mobile's network.

Nope
It has a full keyboard but the phone isn't oversized like a Blackberry (a few of my clients have Blackberry bolds) My E71 even has the putty ssh client ... so I don't bother carrying a laptop around with me any more unless I need it for music editing/concert work. (I also have QuickOffice that edits MS Office 2007 documents) E71 also has a full IMAP/POP client that can connect directly to your mail server ... ... but for the Blackberry setups I've done they all seem to need to connect to a specialised Blackberry Enterprise server of the phone company and wont connect direct for IMAP but only via the Enterprise Server iPhones also have a full IMAP/POP client. I hate iPhones coz I spend time setting them up for all my clients who have one. Way over priced to start with. I just love how that if someone rings while you are setting up anything it deletes everything you have just done and you have to start again ... so annoying. It almost seems like the OS doesn't multitask very well - but I'm not 100% certain why that happens. (I guess on my E71 I have the opposite problem of leaving stuff running when I switch to doing other things or answering calls ... and then sometimes forget to go back and save/exit the application until some time a lot later Actually, the most stupid thing about the iPhone is that many people seem to think that it is an iPod ... yeah - if you enjoy having a flat battery all the time and not being able to make/receive phone calls ... |

Maybe... He hasn't posted back yet...
Don't be hard on yourself... Plus, you're probably better off than me anyways... I'm not in a relationship, I'm jobless, and I'm merely studying to get into school... (Other than that, I'm just dead weight where I'm living...) But to be back on topic, I've heard about the droid... It looks interesting... But eh, I'll be looking into phones later on...
It does those? Well, crap... (I may need to reconsider, or at least look deeper into the evaluation...) Thanks for those insights... |

Keitaro that you? Anyway, I think this lawsuit is a peice of cr@p really. There only doing it because it's likely true. And there public image would take a major hit if they didn't do anything to stop the ads. |

Heh, he's probably better off than I am... Didn't he say he recently got a job somewhere?
Yup, I agree... Like AN said, AT&T should be using money to build towers, not lawsuits, unless they're just jealous of Verizon's coverage or something... But now that kano has brought up the stuff about the iPhone, there's now more to look into on which phone/provider to choose... Though I wouldn't mind staying with T-Mobile... |

I think you got the wrong Keitaro there, lol. I just have this pay-as-you-go phone with T-Mobile, I'm happy because I don't have a need for a smart phone at all yet. I'll probably get one when/if I go to college. Still, after seeing that commercial for the first time, Verizon had it coming, true or false, win or lose. |

Yeah I was trying for LH's Keitaro. Guess it didn't work as well as I'd hoped. |

Ouch, that's going to leave a mark.
Any bets on what AT&T's respones to this is going to be. |

That's a triple combo slap to the face. Man, if only lawsuits always ended up starting wars on the TV in the first place, commercials wouldn't be so boring. |
