OVERSATURATE THE MARKET MORE PLEASE! [/sarcasm] ...hmm I read a lot of Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew way back when and liked it...but hell this is JUST TOO FAR T_T if this allows for manga prices to go down due to the law of competitive marketing (more competition/increased inventory forces the lowering of prices) then hell yeah! If not then I DO NOT want to see AMERICAN manga whenever I browse a bookstore's manga section. thoughts? a side note, Korean manga is gaining speed as well. |

has anyone else noticed that american compaines simply steal everyone elses ideas........i love the part about.
"Can american manga outsale the Japanese which started it all?" the short answer.....no the long, yet still short answer...... The reason it will Fail is because to many Otaku's despise this idea, and if you send these to Japan not a single copy will sell. |

Honestly, I didn't like the Nancy Drew series. It's all 'bout the Arsene Lupin series by Maurice Leblanc.

I hate the idea of "American manga". I doubt it will sell because most fans here read manga because it is something different.

if i were to say anything about this... uhhh, wouldn't the American mangas be dirt cheap to promote American products, while the other prices stay high >_>?... =P i was reading my US History book (during my 1st-2nd month back at when school started) and it said something like: to promote Americanism in the US, they sold their products really cheap so people would buy products made from the US, and not the stuff around the world =P... (i forget the time period)... yeah... and American Mangas... omg... DIE!! and from a friend who isn't really interested in manga / anime (rather hates it =P) [after showing him the link] ".....DEATH" "*grabs chainshaw and one way ticket to washington d.c*" "usin effin NACY DREW MANGAS" "first thought of word hard = gay crapness" "then find out theres nancy drew and manga in same sentence = D E A T H" well, he was an avid Hardy Boys reader, and he all he said was "..." |

i dunno guys, if they make a Powerpuff girls Manga that looks like the upcoming anime, i'd be the first in line to buy that...
but as for boring books turned manga, meh, i doubt it's gonna do well enough to outsell the Japanese books. But if the American ones are mixed in with the rest of them, then it'll either: A) Make the American ones barely sell B ) Make the originals sell more once kids start seeing other titles next to "hardy boys" or whatever. Either way, it's not gonna hurt the Japanese books, so no need to worry. People aren't gonna be all "hmm...should i buy the latest Fruits Basket, or should i buy this Hardy Boys book...hmm...i'll go with the Hardy Boys INSTEAD" people MIGHT buy them with eachother, but the probability of normal manga readers suddenly dropping what they're reading now and start reading these American ones is a pretty low chance. |

I'm sorry, but I'm not going to criticize this until I buy one. If it's crap, I'll trash it. But we don't read manga BECAUSE it's from Japan (that would just be silly). We read for good stories, enjoyable artwork, and funny characters. Naturally, Japanese culture is well-integrated into the manga we love, but if they do this well then I see no reason not to buy it.
Of course, there are a lot of reasons it probably won't do well. For starters, while manga is very popular, it hasn't really gone very mainstream. The makers of this manga will most likely be aiming for a generic, under 13-year old audience. (Oh...and what was with the comment about American companies always stealing other people's ideas? Haven't comics in America existed just as long as manga in Japan, or longer? I've seen a LOT of manga in which characters are inspired by American-style comics...sometimes the artist will even admit to it XD) |

Hardy Boys and Nacy Drew should be in the Comic section...... They just use the word Manga to attract more poeple.....
They should called it something like Mamic(a combination of Manga and comic).... I hated people who steal names just to promote something that had already been there a long time ago. That's why I will never ever going to buy the manga. Same Go for that lame Singapore Idol, Hell to it. |
