It's scans of all the pages from 8 novels, so if I could read them, I would be so happy. It has pictures included too, and some of them are very awesome. I might rar them up after work today and post it on here as a download. Some of these are worth coloring too. |

Awesome summaries, I think that was better than actually reading the manga itself. Now I think I actually want to watch the series.

Hmm, interesting. It looks easy, not a lot of text, no real rebuilding. If somebody translates it, I guess I'll edit this. I like how the mangaka uses bubbles for thoughts instead.

French what?! Ahhh please do not screw up French language again plz Japanese people… Talking about that: @hinryu: "Connoisseur"? you mean "ConnAisseur"? don't you? And I’m late again… thx the scanlation team members for advising me on this serie ^___^ ==========
We’re facing the same prob as with Haruhi… once the show started with a good anime and later when a visual novel maniac (no offence ^^; ) spoils (for our great pleasure!) the story… where is the interest on scanlating this serie…? Ah yeah you're a work-sadomasochist… and no, this isn't a reason to commit seppuku ==========
you know everytime you point a new serie even on our boards, some local perv' *cough Athos cough Megu cough* spread it to others who missed it (publicity on the chan?), so seems like the coincidence is big at all level… Quick analysis: 1/ much people trust your choices (and they are never deceived) and want to share it 2/ your choices are good (heh I can't find a bad one… haven't seen all your choices though) Conclusion: No coincidence, you know where the good stuff is. Is that what we call some precursory ability?
Yeah the teaser is interesting but as you read the novels (not all but you will, won't you?) could you tell us on which conflict(s) the story is based on? Make your choice: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wars_between_England_and_France Oh and for those who missed it look at Frothbite wiki about ZnT, really interesting http://wiki.froth-bite.com/Projects/ZeroNoTsukaima
Point of view of the Romance: Your simple comment means that the Tsunderekko (yeah I learnt a new word \^^/) is one of the best choice for a romance because she brings more drama. That's pretty the same in most anime (LH, FMP,…). Nah really this extreme relationship is a very good choice of the author or you have something against young violent quick-tempered flat girls? Point of view of rl: Depends of each personality… if you want a calm life without much prob but also without much awesome crazy joyful moments, choose Henrietta… if you like to go wild (2 senses inside), go for Louise… What an easy choice
lol, it's a joke…? ah you can do better? Wait and see then~ Reminds me negima summaries… the case being different, we can't say you haven't improved… and that is far clearer you tease more readers' attention because no-scans= need more well arranged details. No failure at all here.
*chokes with his chocolate-filled roll* cough cough, criminal!? It's more original to see finally a normal guy (lol) doing a normal stuff in this romance… ow I'm saying paradoxes now? We're too contaminated by the shy guy type overused in shounen Besides, he’s the one who is beaten up every time by an ultra violent girl…
Look at the girls… just tell me what guy can’t be ensorcelled by these types of beautiful and nice girls. Ah and every guy is a potential hentai, don’t you know? Btw, I join the complimenting crowd, and hope you’ll continue the summaries as long as possible… ========
And you complain? Man, it took me 10h to download ep3, considering my other downloads (50% of failure on completion), I should be happy T_T, and I can’t even think about the torrent you mentioned… *sigh* |

Huh? con·nois·seur : Pronunciation Key (kn-sûr, -sr) n. 1. A person with expert knowledge or training, especially in the fine arts. 2. A person of informed and discriminating taste: a connoisseur of fine wines. |

The conflict within Albion between the Reconquista and the Royal Albion Army, as well as the eventual development that led to the "new" Albion taking up a hostile stance against Tristein and Germania is all covered in vol.3 of the novel, which WILL be featured in the anime. So I won't spoil it. As far as I know, I don't think the war in Zero no Tsukaima is based on real-life events.
I have nothing against Louise, but I just feel bad for Henrietta, that's all. At the end of vol.4, even after all Henrietta has been through and done for her beloved Wales, even though Wales was able to miraculously return to life and regain himself for an instant, in the end, Henrietta still wasn't able to get him to return her love. The close and loving relationship that she had with Wales ever since their first meeting many years ago ended as an unrequited love. ![]() In the final scene by the Ragdria Lake, which was the place where Wales and Henrietta first met, the dying Wales stalled by asking Henrietta to take him into the lake before he would swear his love to her. Henrietta believed him and carried him into the lake, but when they entered the lake, Henrietta looked back down, and Wales was already gone... --------- "...What a mean person" Looking straight ahead, Henrietta whispered. "Even until the very end, you still won't say those words you promised" Henrietta closed her eyes slowly. From her closed eyelid, a single tear drew a trail down her cheek. (At the time, both Louise and Saito stood by the lakeside, watching Henrietta quietly. Louise was crying, but at least she had Saito, who first held her shoulder, before completely taking her into his arms) --------- Oh top of that, ever since she became queen, Henrietta had to withstand hearing insulting and hurting remarks from her own people criticizing her ability as a queen (due to her young age), while trying to maintain and prepare her country in a hostile situation. By vol.5, it's clear that even her very own advisors cannot be trusted, as traitors and Albion spies are around every corner. What Henrietta wanted was someone to lean on, someone who could give her the support that she never got. Saito certainly had enough power to do it. He didn't go ahead and take Henrietta because he knew it wasn't the right thing to do, which earned him big points in my book. In the end, I was simply expressing myself about how I felt bad for Henrietta: she really is a great person, but on top of her "tragic setting", she had to be rejected by Saito.
Actually, Henrietta is quite a lively person too (as shown throughout various points in the novel), it's just that her position as the queen of the country has put a tight bind around her behavior. Besides, although Louise would toss an occasional "Explosion" or two at Saito everytime he pissed her off, Henrietta was the only person who seriously almost killed Saito with a Hexagon-class spell. ^^; And the scary thing is, Henrietta is a water-type mage, so she can heal too... Rinse and repeat? ^^; |

The little spoiler makes us want more. Is there an explaination yet as to why this world is connected to Earth? Episode 4 has a PrOn mag and maybe later episodes the zero fighter. |

Thought bubbles. :EDIT: That said, why don't you take a look at it, maybe edit a chapter or two? Erizo's still looking for editors and I already did my share (and pissed him off in the process). It isn't that hard, really. Minor rebuilding (I thought it was fairly easy), but typesetting can be a bitch in some places. |

It's not official yet, but AQS probably will scanlate ZnT manga. |

In Ep2, they did mention a Line (dual elemental), a Triangle (a tri-elemental), and a Square (four elements)... But if that's so... then Hexagon-class spells are composed of... what, 6 elements? Besides earth, wind, fire and water, what other elements do you have? Light and darkness/void? *is reminded of Kishimoto's (probably unintended) copying of the Kanka pose in Yamato's Mokuton jutsu...* |

I'm always interested in all the characters. I can just as easily type a simiiar post about any other main characters if I wanted to. I'm always glad to see a character properly developed, enough to make you feel attached to them. As far as I have read, there's no explanations yet about why or how objects from Earth got to Halkeginia.
Elements can be "stacked". Just because a mage is a triangle doesn't mean he/she has 3 different elemental specialties. You can have a triangle mage with "Fire", "Water", "Earth", but you can also have one with "Fire", "Fire", "Fire". A Triangle "Fire" mage can use far more powerful fire spells than a triangle mage with only one "Fire" in their... grid, I guess? And like Louise explained early in vol.1, a mage's position is determined by their class. It goes something like this: Dot: Beginner Mage Line: Regular Mage Triangle: Elite or Expert Mage Square: Master Mage or Heroes Henrietta is a triangle water mage, for the hexagon-class spell, she borrowed the magic powers of Wales (who's a triangle wind mage), and synchronized their powers (something only possible between royal family mages) to create a giant icicle tornado (basically, a ["Water" "Water" "Water" "Wind" "Wind" "Wind"] spell) that could've destroyed a whole castle. The anime will probably never mention this, but both Kirche and Tabitha are actually triangle mages (compared to the regular students, who are almost all dot or line mages). Kirche is a "Fire" "Fire" "Fire", while Tabitha is a "Wind" "Wind" "Wind". =============================== Right now, I have finished vol.6 and is a little bit into vol.7 now. ....To be short, the war officially begun halfway through vol.6, and I gotta say, Yamaguchi-san is not only good at making people laugh, but he's just as great at depressing the hell out of people (reminds me of Sanae's route in Green Green The narration style changed after the war began, and the story was kept fluid by constant shifts between different viewpoints: Louise and Saito was with the Zero fighter aboard the Expedition Navy's flagship "Vieusenthal", Guiche was assigned to the "de Vinouille" battallion as part of the Army staging at Tristeinia, Malicorne (the chubby guy from Guiche and Louise's class) was assigned to serve on the "Redouteboule", one of the navy's battleship, while Kirche and Tabitha remained back at the academy... Anyway, it was all exciting and interesting at first (I laughed at th Guiche suddenly getting promoted to company commander status), but I must commend Yamaguchi-san for not sugarcoating the war business: it's simply not fun for anyone. By the end of vol.6, it became so depressing I didn't even feel like reading anymore. Saito fell into serious depression due to a certain event (I'll explain in detail later if I have time). Louise is depressed that Saito is depressed. Malicorne's experience was simply traumatizing, and the events back at the magic academy involving Mr.Colbert (the bold middle aged mage instructor (the teacher at the summon servant event) who became Saito's close friend throughout the volumes. He was also the one who produced the gasoline Saito needed for the Zero fighter) was simply tragic. His "true identity" felt a little cliched, but I really liked him in the end... Really, the mood got so low I almost had to force myself just to get vol.7 started (but it's a good thing I did). I'll write a more detailed summary later if I can. (It was sad to see Henrietta standing on top of La Rochelle port, watching the fleet depart to fight a war she really started because of her selfish desire for revenge... The portrayal of her feeling of disgust and self-hatred when she cried out "Viva Tristein!" and hearing a thundering response of "Viva Tristein!" spreading out between the 60,000 sailors and soldiers across 300 ships... just brilliant) |

Err I wasn't serious at all on my comment…
Oh my my… I understand better what you feel… Henrietta's a very strong person carrying the burden of her heritage and the one's of her heart. That wasn't so obvious to me >_<; Knowing that it's hard for me to say anything else against her. All I can figure out is her importance toward Louise/Saito couple, I mean it's a kind of "Tragic Love example" that tempers Louise moody feelings. On one hand she contributes to the main couple balance and evolution, on the other hand it's a very hurting to see such a destiny. Well that being said, it's quite also a "good" turn for the char growning up of a Queen. The fate must lead her through experiencing many pains to succeed as a good leader of her country, because as far as I know monarchy is based on the acts of only one person, such a power needs maturity and wisdom. That's kinda, in the positive way of thinking of a Queen/King, a sacrifice to her/his native country. She must only trust herself. In comparison Louise’s very lucky to have all she has now… I guess Henrietta could be jealous… anyway I don’t think it’s really her first feeling toward the couple. For Saito’s case, he seems strong and knows his limits, but truly he can’t suit her and understand it (yeah I agree, he’s a good hentai finally
I can't imagine Louise being a Queen… that would be hectic for each side ^^;
Lol that's freaking infinite SM combo XD Back to the main point, I'm not saying she can't lose her mind… it's just that she seems more mature and learnt more how to deal with her heart, a person you can discuss with freely about your/her probs without getting an impulsive shot in the head at the first disagreeable word (hehehe generally). Ah yeah beware of the "sleeping water" In any case if I was forced to choose, I go for Henrietta because wisdom and responsibility (besides learnt through a painful path) makes her less troublesome and wiser for a stable relationship. That's quite the obvious choice for most people though. After, will there be insane ecstatic good moments with her? It also depends of her partner I guess. ======== Comments put aside, it's hard for me to have a good idea of each character (was even worse with Henrietta) just by seeing a few ep and some summaries… ehe what a uselessness… At least now we know more about Henrietta =) ;_; ========
It was in ep3 According to some resources (cf Frothbite) there are only 5 different elements, "Void" being the fifth and as you can guess the element of Saito... or something like that. |

Just like for every anime, I got mine from a certain program that starts with "W" and ends with "inny". ========================= I finished vol.7 in record time and is now on vol.8. Honestly, I feel like crying knowing that vol.8 is the latest volume (read: no more to read after this Short comment for vol.7 ending: Saito I love you. Short comment for vol.8 beginning: Tiffania..........You're ruining everything... (she's threatening to smash my "favorite character rank pillar" that took me 8 volumes to build) Yamaguchi-san... why did you have to introduce someone like Tiffania now, of all times!? Maybe it's personal preference? Maybe it's just because Usatsuka-san's drawings of her were cute? Maybe it's... Maybe it's... A, ahem, as of the end of vol.7, the war has ended. Although it only(?) lasted a volume and a half, timeline wise, months have passed since the beginning of the war. There's way too much to "summarize", so I'll probably be splitting it up. Anyway, I'll finish up vol.6 first... I have a feeling it's gonna be long... ========================= To continue from the last summary post, we have a very angry duke watching a lowly commoner trying to, um, mess around with his youngest daughter. In his anger, Louise's father ordered Louise to be locked up and Saito to be beheaded (^^;). Of course, that won't work for Saito, so he grabbed Louise, and escaped the castle with her by using his Gandolfr speed. Outside the castle, a cart was waiting for Saito and Louise. When they boarded, they found out that the driver is Siesta, who has been ordered by Kattleya to wait for Saito and Louise with the cart. As they escaped the la Valliere territory, Siesta apologized to Louise for the mean words she said to her when she was drunk. Louise, feeling a sense of victory from Saito's confession, "forgave" Siesta, acting fully like a woman who has won in a love war. ^^; Siesta then mentioned how Saito unbottoned her shirt when she was knocked out (Saito's view: "She looked very hot and uncomfortable with such a tight shirt on, so..."), and Louise went right back to doing what she's best at... Making Saito scream. ^^; Next, the scene shifts over to the capital city Tristeinia, where we see "reserve officer" Guiche trying to find his regiment. When he arrived, he realized that his batallion is actually made up of a bunch of old soldiers, clearly, he has been assigned to a group of leftovers... On top of that, they made him "company commander" right off the bat. ^^; Over at Port La Rochelle, where the navy/air force is staging at, Malicorne has just arrived at his assigned ship: the battleship "Redouteboule". On the ship, he learned that rank, not class, matters in the navy. Being a noble meant nothing at all. The story then went back in time and talked about an incident 20 years ago that involved a peaceful village inside Tristein, and a Protestant woman named Victoria, who escaped into it from Romaria. A month later, a group of Tristein mages came, and burned the whole village. Men, women, children, everything. Agnes was the only survivor of the massacre, she still remembers the final moment, where Victoria was casting a protective water spell on her, even though she was being attacked and burning to death herself... 20 years later, Agnes has become the captain of one of Henrietta's closest guard units. But her true goal is to find and kill the group of mages who attacked her village that day as revenge... One of the mage's name is Menville, a cold blooded killer who loves to slaughter people by burning them. Right now, Menville is actually being hired by the Albionians for a takeover operation of the Tristein Magic Academy. Menville spoke of his past, about the operation he took part in 20 years ago, and how his squad captain was such a cold blooded killer, it inspired him to become one too. For Menville, who has a passion for killing, his squad captain looked like an idol to him. At the end of the operation, Menville attacked his captain, for no reason except wanting to test his captain and himself. Menville was completely defeated, his face and eyes burnt, and escaped as a traitor. 20 years later, Menville has become much stronger, and vows to find his old squad captain again to get his revenge... A week later, the day for invasion has come. Watching the giant coalition fleet between Tristein and Germania numbering over 500 ships carrying over 60,000 soldiers and sailors take off into the air from the La Rochelle port, Henrietta was overwhelmed by a sense of guilt and self-hatred: not only did she start a war that's really based on her own selfish desire for revenge, she also used her best friend, Louise, by advocating her power as a "Void" mage to create confidence in her soldiers... Louise was being used as a symbol, a trump card, a tool. Henrietta ran to the tip of the wharf, and yelled "Viva Tristein!" And as she listened to the thundering replies of "Viva Tristein!" from tens of thousands of soldiers, Henrietta felt like each cry deepened her sins even more... Back at the magic academy, Saito and Mr.Colbert is preparing the Zero fighter for departure to meet the fleet in mid-air. Mr.Colbert has been fascinated by the fighter plane ever since Saito brought it back, the "technology" was something that he never imagined possible before. Also Colbert was unable to reproduce the depleted ammunition for the fighter, he attached his own "secret weapon" onto the plane, and urged Saito to use them if he ever get into trouble. Mr.Colbert hated wars, and really wanted to use his "fire" magic for constructive purposes... Saito and his plane has shown Colbert the possiblities for his dream. ![]() After Louise finished her preparation, Saito and Louise took off in the fighter. As they took off, Mr.Colbert urged them: "Saito-kun! Miss Valliere!" "Don't die! Don't die! It's okay even if you look pathetic! It's okay even if they call you a coward! Just don't die! Don't you die! Come back here alive!" The situation between Louise and Saito is not good. Ever since they arrived back at the academy from her home a month ago, Louise has been in a bad mood. Saito figured she was angry at him for trying to take advantage of her on the lake, and for unbuttoning Siesta's shirt. In reality, Louise is just jealous, jealous that Saito is all friendly with other girls (namely, Siesta) even after confessing to her. So, like that, the two of them arrived on the Tristien flag ship, "Vieusenthal", which was designed as an aerial landing strip for dragons. In this case, it will become the carrier for the Zero fighter as well. Arriving on the ship, Saito and Louise was led to the operation room, where they were told of the current situation: there are two possible landing points on Albion, one is Albion's airforce base Rosyth, located just south of the capital city of Londonium, the other is the northern bay of Durtalnus. The generals wished to land the fleet at Rosyth for both it's close proximity to Londonium and for it's facilities. But that's impossible unless the enemy is distracted somehow... Louise and Saito comes in here. Louise, who's referred to as Zero by the generals (because of her Void powers), was asked to use her power to create a diversion of some sort. Louise accepted, but Saito was a little angry for how Louise is being treated... When Saito and Louise returned to the ship's deck, they met a group of young men close to Saito's age, who were betting each other on whether Saito's plane is a living thing or not. Soon, Saito learned that they were the members of the 2nd dragon knight squadron, one of the 3 dragon knight squadrons stationed on the ship. Saito soon became friends with the knights, it's his first time meeting so many boys the same age as him, and Saito was really happy among his new friends. On the other end, Louise is feeling even more angry now, at Saito, for leaving her alone, even though she's facing a big task of creating a diversion for the entire invasion force. But through Saito and the knight's jokes about putting dummies in their beds so they can sneak out at night, Louise got her idea for the diversion... Back at the magic academy, Mr.Corbert was in the middle of lecture when he was interrupted by intruders: Agnes and her squad of gunners. They have been ordered to come to the academy to train the remaining female students in preparation for the war. Mr.Corbert refused to give up his students to fight in some foolish war, but his weak voice remained unheard. ![]() Even his own students looked down on him: because even though he's a man, he chosed to stay behind, rather than to participate in the war like all the other men. For the female students, who are proud nobles, Colbert looked like nothing but a coward to them. Kirche, especially, despised Colbert, because even though Colbert is a "fire" user just like her, he's nothing but a total coward. The next morning, Malicorne and his senior was chatting at the watchpost on their ship when it happened: enemy attack. Back at the Vieusenthal, Saito and Louise was urged to take off immediately to escape the enemy attack. In the nick of time, they escaped in the Zero fighter, with 10 dragons as their leading escort. Together, they headed toward Durtalnus... The riders on the dragons were the 2nd squadron knights that Saito played with the day before. Leading the pack was a 17-year-old blonde, the same age as Saito, and apparantely has a girlfriend back home. On Saito's right wing is an 18-year-old knight, who came from a poor noble family, and is glad to be able to become a dragon knight. On his left wing are two 16-year-olds who are twins. All of them are Saito buddies who played and drank with him the day before. Back on the Redouteboule, Malicorne was in shock at the reality of combat: ships all over the place, thundering firing sounds, the sight of cannonballs striking the enemy ship, sending wood and people flyng in the air. Then the same happens to his ship, wood chips fly, snapped ropes dance all over the place, leaked oils smeared across the deck, people screaming and crying, the smoke, the blood, the smell of sulfur, the sound of cannon balls striking, the sound of ships breaking apart... Malicorne cried at the reality of war, and tried to run into the ship's lower deck, only to be thrown back out into the fray... On the deck, mages were fighting by attacking the enemy with their spells, Malicorne collapsed. An officer tried to drag him up, and Malicorne watched as a magic arrow impaled the sailor right in front of his eyes. Malicorne looked over the dead sailor, and saw a young mage standing on the enemy ship's deck, pointing his staff right at him. The young boy was no older than him. He's shaking too, just like Malicorne. And his face pale. The corpse of the officer is still spasming in front of Malicorne. Malicorne screamed, tears and snot smeared all over his face, but the scream was soon drowned out by the deafening sound of cannon blasts. Malicorne aimed his staff at the enemy ship, into the black smoke, and began reciting spells. Saito's group is being chased by the enemy as well, with a dozen enemy dragons closing in on them from above. Without any ammunition left in the fighter, Saito and Louise decided to use the secret weapon that Mr.Colbert added onto the plane. First try... a snake-shaped jack-in-the-box popped up in front of the viewfinder... "Hang in there Saito, Hang in there Saito, Hang in there Miss Valliere!", after a recorded message, the "weapon" became silent. Just as Saito is cursing the stupid old man, Louise discovered that it was actually a trigger for the real weapons attached to the plane. Saito pulled the snake doll, and several iron arrows lauched from the tubes attached to the plane's wing, and homed in on the enemy dragons, shooting them down. Apparately, Colbert used the firepowders to create a rocket, and applied "Detect Magic" onto the arrows so that they would "home in" on magical sources, in other words, the enemy dragons. Just as Saito is feeling relieved, he is faced with a horrifying sight: an armada of enemy dragons, numbering well over a hundread, heading straight for him and his escorts. The enemy soon closed on, and fired hundreds of magic arrow aimed right at Saito's plane, just when Saito's plane is about to get torn into pieces- One of the 2nd squadron's dragon dashed in between, and was impaled by all the arrows. Both the dragon and the dragon knight on it fell toward the ground... Next, a giant fireball from one of the enemy's head dragon blasted towards the Zero fighter- Another ride went out in front, struck by the fireball, and crashed towards the ground... Derflinger was the first to react: they are shielding Saito's plane. The remaining 8 rides began seperating from Saito's plane. Saito screamed: ============== Saito: "O, oi! What are you guys doing!?" The lead rider smiled and waved his hand at Saito. Almost as if it was a simple wave of goodbye from a friend at school after class. It was the captain of the 2nd dragon knight squadron, the one who was the most frank when talking to Saito. The slightly chubby, blonde young man who won the "Is the Zero fighter a dragon or not" bet. 17-years-old, just like Saito. The young man with a girlfriend back home...... with parents waiting for his return...... The young man who told Saito it was his dream to become a dragon knight. Saito realized that he hasn't even asked him his name. Together, the 8 rides flipped around. With the blonde 17-years-old as the lead, the guys whom Saito has just became friends with yesterday dived into the flock of enemy dragons. To earn time for Saito and Louise to get away from their pursuers. That's all the reason there is. ============== Before Saito could turn the plane around, Louise pulled Mr.Colbert's final secret weapon: a giant rocket booster designed for escape. Saito tried to turn the plane around anyway, but was stopped by Derflinger, who warned him the the plane would fall apart if he tried to turn it at this speed. ============== In the middle of feeling the acceleration of speed pushing him into his seat, Saito screamed. Saito: "We just met yesterday! They died for us even though we only met yesterday! Does that even make sense!?" Louise: "I know that! But, but, our mission is to let loose "void" over "Durtalnus"! They were our escorts to make sure that we reach there safely! If we turn back now and fail the operation...... That would truly make them die a pointless death!" Saito rubbed his eyes. Looking ahead, he murmured. Saito: "You know, I don't even know their names" To be saved by some guy whose name you don't even know, and to die for some guy whose name you don't even know. Is this what war is all about? Saito: "You're kidding me. Like hell I can accept that! Damn it! Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!" Saito screams. Even knowing it accomplishes nothing, he screams anyway. The Zero fighter continued to fly on while squeezing out speeds close to four hundred and fifty knots on the speedometer. In the middle of the trembling that feels as if it would tear the plane apart, Saito continued to tremble as well for a different reason. ============== Finally, Saito and Louise arrived at the bay of Durtalnus. After slowing to a safe speed, the windshield was lifted, and Louise began chanting her newest spell: another basic of basics, "Illusion". ![]() Before long, Louise has created an illusionary fleet of ships, floating over Dartalnus. Soon enough, the Albion command responded by diverting all their forces towards their location... The diversion tactic worked. Back at the magic academy, Menville's plan was finally put into motion: seize and capture all the students in the academy, and use them as hostages against Tristein. Against professionals killers, the female students and staffs were powerless. Soon, Menville's team successfully captured everyone and rounded them up in mess hall. Agnes and her squad, along with Kirche and Tabitha (who sensed the intrusion early and was able to get away in time) tried to fight against Menville, but it was no good, against Menville, Kirche and the others soon fell. Just when Menville was about to burn Kirche alive- Another flame came in and beat Menville's flame back. Menville soon recognized that flame as the flame of his admired captain from 20 years ago, and cried out: Menville: "It's the temperature I've been searching for! You! You're Colbert! How nolstalgic! It's Colbert's voice! How long has it been? Hey, Captain! It's been 20 years! That's right!" True enough, when the smoke cleared, Mr.Colbert stood with his staff in his hand, standing out in front of his students. The faithful fight then begins, Colbert begged Menville to stop, as he doesn't want to fight anyone anymore, but Menville was determined to get his revenge, and pressed on. ![]() In the end, Mr.Colbert was able to draw Menville out into the open, away from people, and was forced to use an "explosive flame" that depleted all the oxygen in the area, including the ones in Menville's lungs, causing him to suffocate instantly. Back at the mess hall, Agnes tried to use this chance to take out the rest of the enemy mages, but as she tried to draw her sword, an enemy fired multiple magic arrows behind her back. Nobody was able to react, but in the final moment, someone jumped in and shielded Agnes from the arrows with his own body, and defeated the enemy with flames from his staff. Yes, it was Colbert. Colbert then fell, the arrows have wounded him mortally. Many students came in and began using healing magic on him, but it's not enough, the injury was too serious. Agnes looked down at the dying Colbert, and realized that he was the man who led the group that killed and destoryed everything in her village 20 years ago. She questioned Colbert why he did what he did. Colbert said he was ordered to burn the village because there was an epidemic in it, but after realizing it was all a killing over religion, he felt truly guilty and vowed to never kill or hurt anyone again with magic. Agnes was unwilling to forgive him, but Colbert didn't expect to be forgiven anyway. As female students pass out one after another after depleting their strength trying to heal Colbert, Agnes decided to get her revenge: ============== Aiming for Colbert, who's surrounded by fallen water users, Agnes raised her sword. However, as if trying to protect Colbert, Kirche covered him with her body. The teasing smile that's always on her face has disappeared. With a truly serious face, Kirche said. Kirche: "Please, stop" Agnes: "Out of the way! This is the day I've been living for! 20 years! I have waited for this day for 20 years!" Kirche: "Please. I beg you!" Agnes: "Out of the way!" Agnes and Kirche stared at each other. The air seemed like it was going to tear by the tension, at that moment... Kirche made a surprised face, and held onto Colbert's wrist. Agnes: "I'm telling you to get out of the way!" With a cold voice, Kirche pleaded. Kirche: "Please, put away your sword" Agnes: "Don't fool around with me!" Kirche shook her head, and whispered. Kirche: "He's dead" With that word, strength escaped from Agnes' hands. Stunned, Agnes fell to the ground on her knees. Her body began shaking lightly. Kirche: "......I won't tell you to stop hating him. But, at least pray for him. Colbert-sensei may have been your enemy, but...... he's your savior now. He gave up himself and saved you." . . . After Agnes disappeared from sight, Kirche tried to carry Colbert's body, and noticed the shining Ruby ring on his finger. It's a pure red ruby, like blazing fire. Gazing at the ruby...... Tears flowed from Kirche's eyes. He has protected Kirche. She made fun of him that much, yet he said "don't touch my students", and protected her. With an honest feeling, Kirche cried for a while. ============== Finally, we return to Saito and Louise. During the silent trip back towards Vieusenthal, Louise discovered a letter from Mr.Colbert that was mixed in with the instructions for his secret weapons. ![]() Louise began reading it: ============== "Saito-kun, I wonder if my inventions were helpful for you? If so, I'm glad. You......, no, not just you, all the students in the academy, no, the teachers too, you are all very important to me, that's why I'm glad if I can be of help to you. Truly glad. Now then, as to why I'm writing you this letter today, actually, I have a favor to ask of you. No, it's nothing weird, it's not about money either, so don't worry. As to why I'm asking you a favor, it's because I have a dream. And that dream is to make something only possible with magic, into something that anyone can use. You saw it too, right? The happy snake-kun. Yeah, it's true that it's nothing but a toy, but...... To develop wonderful techniques that anyone can use at anytime. That's my dream. I'm a little troubled over whether I should tell you this or not, but I'll tell you after all. Once, I have commited a great sin. A sin that's too great. A sin that's so great, there's nothing I can do about it. I began my research thinking of repaying for my sins, but...... Recently, I began thinking. And that is, sins cannot be repayed. No matter how much I want to be useful to people and help them......, my sins will never be forgiven. Never. That's why, I want you to promise me one thing. Listen, you're probably going to be faced with many difficult situations from here on. You're going to war, so you're probably going to be experiencing many people's death. But...... Don't get used to it. Don't get used to the "death" of people. Don't think of it as an obvious thing. The moment you think that way, something within you breaks. I don't want you to become like me. That's why, I'm asking you this once again. Don't get used to wars. Don't get used to killings. Don't get used to "death"." The clouds thinned out......, and the Tristein Germania Coalition Fleet, heading towards Rosyth, appeared. The numbers have reduced quite a bit. But......, the fact that the supply ship convoys were almost undamaged means they probably won. Still, the surviving ships were all beaten up. Many ships have huge holes in them, their masts broken. There are battleships with the entire line of broadside cannons missing too. Louise continued to read the letter out loud. "Now then, this is my final favor. You said this to me once before, right? That you came from another world. In that world, flying machines like the one you're riding in now fly in the sky, and technologies are far more advanced than what we have in Halkeginia. Right? You know, I want to see that. I want to see them, and I'd love to use them toward my researches. That's why, when you head back East......, I'd like to come along with you too. What? I'm not joking. I'm serious. So don't die. Make sure you come back alive. Because if you don't, I can't go to the East anymore. Hey. In that world, does everyone really control these things you call "cars", and travel the road with them? Does small boxes that allow you to communicate with people even over long distances really exist? Did people really stand on the moon? To be able to do all those things without magic, it must be a wonderful thing. I want to see a world like that." Louise: "That's it. What a strange person. He says he wants to go to your world" Saito sniffed his nose, and thanked Louise. Saito: "Thank you" Louise gently hugged Saito's neck. And then whispered. Louise: "You dummy. Why are you crying?" Saito: "......I'm not" Louise: "......A lot has happened today, you must be tired. When we get back to the ship, let's just relax and rest" Louise closed her eyes, and kissed Saito on his neck. The "Vieusenthal" appears, and Saito turned the plane towards it in preparation for landing. The bright light of the sun colored the fleet smeared with dust and soot beautifully. ========================= ....So that's what it's like to "summarize" without holding back... wait, I practically translated the last 5 pages..... orz And that was only half a volume... orz Ahh... maybe I should just focus on the major events in vol.7... ....What am I turning this thread into anyway...? |

No, actually, when Saito first brought the plane back, he and Mr.Colbert removed the bulky radio equipments (since it's useless in Halkeginia) and added a second seat behind the pilot's seat. Louise only rides on top of Saito whenever she needed a good view in order to cast spells. |

I'm used to it. ^^; There are some... impressive sigs floating around too, but I'll refrain from commenting on them. ^^; ======================= Thanks for the comments. This really isn't a "novel summary/digest" thread though, so I'm not so sure if people are alright with me posting these super spoilers (as a basic rule, I try not to touch anything pre-vol.3, because those WILL be covered by the anime). If anyone isn't comfortable with me posting these "summaries", let me know and I'll tone it down. Having said that, I don't even know how to start vol.7 without turning it into a 5000 word post. But there are certainly some important scenes in it that I really want to write about... But before that, it's crunch time for my summer class, and I just realized that I'm actually in a pretty tight spot (^^;), so maybe this will have to wait. ======================= Let's -episode 4 spoiler- To be honest, I don't think they should've wasted 1 episode on episode 4, which was, from a novel reader's point of view, a completely pointless episode (most other novel readers agree with me on this). The big joke of the episode was the porn magazine, which was an item from Earth. While this served as a foreshadowing for certain Earth items that'll appear in the future, it also stole some of the impacts that those items would've had. The first Earth item that appeared in the novel was a big shocker and a cool surprise during an exciting moment. The porn mag, on the other hand, was surprising, but it was meaningless. To be blunt, they have basically wasted a perfectly good plot device on a weak gag. -end episode 4 spoiler- Now then, judging from the future episode previews (here), vol.1 of the novel should probably finish around episode 7. This leaves 6 episodes left for vol.2+3. Vol.2 and 3 can probably be treated as one big volume, but it's still a little "hmm" to know that they'll be rushing through it in 6 episodes. Apparantely, JC Staff's plan is to make the episodes out of concentrated materials from the volumes + original contents (similar to what they did with Shana). It sucks in comparison to someone like Kyoani faithfully reproducing a novel to a tee on the TV sceen, but oh well, it can't be helped. Hopefully the original contents from here on are better thought-out than the kind of stuff we got for episode 4. ======================= To finish, I leave you with my newest favorite (I still love you just as much though, Siesta! ^^; ) character, Tiffania: (from vol.8 front page art) ![]() Tiffania = Elf (an extremely powerful race in Halkeginia) + "stunningly beautiful" (in a way that humans can't compare) + gentle like Siesta, but elegant like Henrietta + Mikuru-class shyness and dojikko-ness (chest size is Mikuru-class too) ...なにこの究極萌えっ娘。^^; |
