AQS Summer Splash, athos' proposal script

...Two more days of final exams.
...One more day of school.
...Yatta! Summer has started!

Who does not appreciate the fun, the sunshine, the leisure, the relaxation, and the traveling of summer?
One might say that every single student in the country labors through over nine months of school just to
obtain this long vacation and plays his or her heart out. Without a doubt, the roads will be filled with tourists
heading to the beaches, mountains, theme parks, oversea, and clubs and bars where parties go all night
long. No more school day! No more curfew! No more homework! In the summer, such pleasures will
eventually happen to all students of various ages, only with an exception of... me.

That is right. I have neither money nor job, thanks to my strict and weird family. Many summers before
have rejected and abandoned me to the abyss of boredom and even depression. Luckily I have bought
myself a PC a few months ago, and I will have a better time this year, hopefully. Anyway, I need to check
my e-mailbox before I forget again...



As far as my knowledge extends, AQS is the name of an online group that scanlates manga and fansubs
anime. They are fans of Ken Akamatsu, a manga artist, and quite a wild bunch, too. But a boot camp of
them? Only god knows what they have there... Have I mentioned that I'm part of that group? Please
remember so I will not have to tell twice. My online name is Athos, and I am a manga editor at AQS. I am
somewhat one of the most active members of the group due to the fact that I am in charge of a project.
Nevertheless, I pay little attention to my work there nowaday. Editing manga has become boring and
tiresome after a long time...

Back to the main subject, which is the email, I have not been informed of this boot camp before, despite
my connection to the group. My brain believes that it is a joke, while my gut tells me that it is the ticket to
my summer heaven. Anyhow, I should reply them with my questions...

If any person pays attention to this story and wonders why I am here at the bus stop, I shall give the
answer that I have confirmed the existence of an event called AQS Scanlation Boot Camp through their IRC
channel. Dubiously this boot camp idea is sponsored by the administrators of AQS forums, Aquastar and
Erizo. By dubiously, I mean that a person or a group of people must have forced them to create the camp.
Putting aside the truth about the event, I am going to that camp anyways. First to see if it is real, second to
spend my summer in a more productive way. Ah~ the bus has arrived at last...

The location of the camp has a strange name that I have not heard of or seen before, GGW Forest. without
minding about what the acronym stands for yet, I sit down on the bus next to a boy, who looks exactly like
my definition of an elementary otaku. By the way, if someone is asking why I choose to sit next to him, the
only person on the bus, then it is because I just want to know more about my destination.

Athos: Hello there, kid.
???: Hiya, don't call me kid. I'm in high school, y'know.

The kid slaps me around with a large trout that he pulls out of thin air.

Athos: Ouch... Sorry then. Umm, I'm Athos. Ehh, nice to meet you.
???: You're Athos!? I'm Lambchopsil! So you're going to that boot camp thing, too?

Unexpectedly I begin to sweat a whole lot. I just cannot believe my own eyes that this little kid is
Lambchopsil, the omnipotent proofreader of AQS. With difficulty to restrain myself from pointing and
laughing at him, I try to have a nice talk with him like a gentleman and request more information about this
AQS Boot camp and its location.



...After a long, tedious bus trip to the GGW Forest, Lambchopsil and I step on the soft, humid ground. No
welcoming banner or representative of the camp appear in sight. Courageous and nervous at the same
time because we are together, we follow the trail and enter the so-called Girl's Gone Wild Forest...

After a few hours wandering in the forest, Athos and Lambchopsil stop for a break at a wet and muddy
spot, which no person but Lambchopsil would choose. Holding an empty bottle in one hand and my
backpack in the other, I reconsider my decision to visit this camp and do not bother to ask for
Lambchopsil's opinion because he obviously has the ... on his face. By the way, let me remind each and all
of the readers that my Global Positioning System gadget is not really useful in this forest.

???: The teapot is clogged again...
???: Clogged with semen?
???: No!
???: It could clog?...

The sudden, four different female voices from behind the bush, which I am sitting nearby, strike me like
lightning on the prairie at midday. As an usual adolescent, I immediately dig through the bush and attempt
to peek at the young ladies, whom I always expect to look cute and hot.



Unless these four girls are ghosts or some kind of monsters, they must be a part of the AQS, too. With my
pretending psychic power, I make a speculation about the identities of the girls. The blue-haired lass
is Reika, and next to her is Sushi. Se-chan is the yellow-haired girl, and Pariah has got to be the green-haired
young lady. I have seen these names in the AQS forums before, but again, those are my total, groundless
guesses.

Pariah: A peeping tom!

Ms.Pariah swiftly grabs the teapot and tosses it at me, but luckily, I have Lambchopsil's head blocking the
teapot. Before any damage is done on me, I decide to dive out of the bush and introduce myself.





Pariah: Oh, you mean Tmoo? He keeps coming back so we're just ignoring him.
Athos: I see...

And so Lambchopsil and I have found our answer from the AQS girls. We have been walking in a circle
around the center of the forest, which happens to be the location of the camp. Blame Lambchopsil for not
noticing that and telling me. Anyways, we are now led by the girls to the AQS Scanlation Boot Camp! It is
so exciting, isn't it?

*sigh* An AQS Scanlation Boot Camp.... guess there's no way other non-scanlation group AQS members would be included in the story

...but G'rr is enjoying it nonetheless.

Well, I like your Riviera theme so far. I loved that game. For pics, do we send backgrounds or also character pics? If for both, do they have to be from Riviera?

No. You just need to send me pictures in different poses of your character. The pics can be from any game or anime; they need to be drawn in anime-or-cartoon-style though. No background is needed.

Lamb doesn't need to send in his pictures 'cause I already chose his role and pics.

The Case of Missing Translator: Part I

On a cloudy day, two weeks after I entered the AQS Scanlation Boot Camp, the whole AQS personnel
is looking for Sushi, the translator, because she has not given out her translation script yet. The first place
that we look is Sushi's tent, but apparently she is not in there. Checking her usual spots yeilds no result
neither. Soon we decide to spread out and search in the forest as we pray for her safety... Where could you
have gone to, Sushi-chan?

Together with Tmoo, who is running by my side, I examine the north side of the forest. Ever since the first
day of the camp, Sushi has been a vital part of the Negima! scanlation. Every Monday or Tuesday, she
translates the new weekly chapter of Negima! and gives the script to the editors and proofreaders so we
could release the chapter by the end of the week. Working with her is actually enjoyable. She teaches us so
much about the otaku culture and frequently introduces to us new eroge, which everybody loves. We would
all turn emo if you leave us, Sushi-chan!...

This is bad. It is starting to rain. Tmoo and I bring no umbrella with us. Dashing wildly through the trees
and bushes, we discover a small cave where it is dry and dark inside. To avoid the possibility of a beast attack,
I tell Tmoo not to wander deep into the cave and stay around the entrace with me... However, this precaution
seems to prove itself useless when an echo originates from the dark side. The sound unlike animal's noise
or simple windblow scares us when we start to imagine that a ghost dwells in this cave...



And so, Tmoo and I cautiously walk deep into the cave. Only Haruhi-kami-sama knows why we choose not
stay safe on the outside, or perhaps it is because she wishes so...

Hahahaha perfect. Nice usage of the Riviera pics, especially Ein's blush after the girl scene, haha. If you somehow get the idea to work me into the story, I'll be Kyon. Yes. Cast me as Kyon.

Following right behind the AQS girls, Lambchopsil and I have reached the site of the AQS Scanlation Camp
at last!



Who could have thought that a scanlation camp would take this much space? The camp locates in the
middle of the forest with a lake on the east, mountain on the north, exit on the west, and even more trees
on the west, which stretch out as far as the eye can see. Despite its position, the camp's ground is dry and
filled with sand, pebbles, and artistically mown grass. A short introduction of the camp is soon presented to
us by Reika-chan, who works in the planning committee.

Over twenty people have come to this camp and only seven of them are girls! That is all I could remember
from Reika's introduction, and I hope Lambchopsil would help me if I mess up or get lost in the camp! But
hey, grandma says that experiencing it yourself is the best way to remember it, right? Anyhow, Reika-chan
then leads me to my tent, where I shall be spending the night for the rest of this camping trip.



Reika: I'd kill you before that happens!... Now we've run out of tents so you have to share one with Senshi, Athos.
Athos: You better stay on your side of the tent, Senshi!
Senshi: Make me!

...And so, Senshi and I had a rough night staring and staying on the alert in case of one jumping on the
other... I am going to sleep on the grass tomorrow night!

The morning scenery of the forest awakens me after only two hours of sleep last night. Thank goodness
that I was not violated. Pulling the flap of the tent aside, I walk out in search for water so I can wash my
face and brush my teeth. With one eye still closed and the other half open, I accidently bump into Tmoo,
whom I saw in the bush yesterday.



What does Tmoo mean by the hour? It is seven o'clock in the morning and I see only a few people up
in the camp. The lake is beyond the gate, so I walks as close behind Tmoo as heterosexually possible so I will not
get lost. The lake is quite far from the camp site. I have no watch with me but I guess that it would take
about ten minutes to get there. I start to feel tired after moving with an empty stomach. Did Tmoo have
breakfast already? He walks so enthuasiastically; it actually looks like he is dashing to the lake... Oh, the
lake is in our sight, and there is something in the lake...!



In a low amplitude, Tmoo and I whisper to each other...

Tmoo: Hmm... who are the other four girls behind Reika and Sushi?...
Athos: How in the world would I know? By the way, why are we peeping at those girls? I just wanted to
wash my face!
Tmoo: Just shut up and enjoy it while you can, Athos!
Athos: But what if they see us!?
Tmoo: Then we would run for our lives! Don't worry, I've done this many times and haven't got caught.
Athos: Alright then...

And thus I participate in the AQS Peeping Team right on the first day of the camp trip. Many calamities will
certainly fall upon me but I am not afraid and will not back off a single step!



Sometimes I wonder what girls talk about when they are together, but in this situation, I prefer watching
then listening, and that is my mistake number one this summer. Tmoo is more experienced than me,
however. He begins to stand up and signals me to leave.

Tmoo: It's time to retreat.
Athos: Err... but I haven't washed my face yet...

The Case of Missing Translator: Part II

Damp, dark, and dazingly dull, the cave finally shows us a lit of fire at the end of the tunnel. To convince
myself that ghost does not exist in this world, I pick up a piece of rock and hurl it at the source of light. If
the rock flies through the fire, then those laws of reality would be shattered for sure!

???: Ouch! Who threw that rock at me!?
Athos: Ehh! I'm sorry!... But wait...

The pebble hit! It actually hit! With a sigh of relief, I step closer to the fire; Tmoo is still behind, I hope.
Let's meet the dweller of this cave! She is a girl... with red hair... and black wizard hat! Oh my goodness!
I have found Sushi-chan!



Tmoo: Negima! hooligans?
Sushi: Yeah. If I don't show my translation script soon, they'll tie me up, dress me in an erotic, black leather
suit, and torture me with a whip...

What are you talking about, Sushi-chan? Did you play too many h-games or read weird novels again? I thought
that you only find such thing in a hentai movie; I could be wrong though... In any case, the rain has stopped,
and we decide to leave the cave and walk back... On the way, Sushi tells us more about her trouble with the
new Negima! chapter.
