Simple but a nice boxset for the series

Taken from AnimeonDVD.com:

AIR Blu-ray Disc BOX (AIR BD-BOX)
Release date: 11/01/06 | Catalog No: PCXX-50001 | Price: 29,800 yen
3 Discs + Bonus Disc | 14 episodes (12 TV + 2 Specials) | 5.1 DD and linear PCM

I love the series but $280-290 for the entire set? Ouch!! Then again, I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

And I assume that BD is region coded like the existing DVD format. If not, maybe I should import it if I save enough money.

That box looks absolutely *&#@ing faptasticular. I love the Air logo, it's so rad.

Quality looks rad, too. Shame it's so sexpensive.

Considering that the DVD volumes of AIR were around 5,000 yen each (5,000 x 7 = 35,000, not including tax), 30,000 yen for the entire set in high definition blue ray is actually quite a deal.

But still, it's probably only for those who have a lot of money, or doesn't own the DVDs yet... Even for a big Key fan like me, it's a little hard to shell out 30,000 yen for this, considering I already have all the AIR limited edition DVDs.

Too bad, it's a limited edition too, so who knows how long they'll be around before going out of print.

And the blue-ray players, I don't know much about them, but I'd imagine they won't come cheap either.

Oh, but I hear that for blue-ray disks, North America, South America, and East Asia (including Japan) share the same region (Region 1), so no worries about not being able to play them.

Blue-Ray players have be delayed for American release around twice already. It's been slated to be a cold one grand for a normal Blue-Ray player, whereas the PS3 will play Blue-Ray and games for $600 for the better version of it.

Geez, I really love AIR but that's not goin' to entice me to get a PS3 to get a cheap Blue-Ray player to play a very expensive box set.

I'll get the simple and clean (<.<), and above all NOT BLU-RAY boxset, if they are going to make one. Otherwise, screw it. <.<

Deal, maybe. It's still a lot of cash, though. Cash that I don't have. Additionally, I'll have to buy a player. Ugh. Will players play DVDs, too? If they do, it could be a good investment.

The people in Europe are getting *&#@ed over, eh? Hooray for region 2-- or not.
