According to the newest information from Shonen Magazine and Comic Bonbon, as well as MOON PHASE, a new Negima manga based on the upcoming new Negima anime, "Negima!?", will begin serialization on the November issue the monthly magazine "Comic Bonbon", also owned by Kodansha.

The mangaka will be Fujima Takuya of Essentia. An artist who's active in both the commercial manga business, as well as doujin productions. (His drawing style tends to be kind of ero-moe, but retaining a really clean look) I've seen his art from "EVE~ New Generation~" on CompAce, it's quite nice. (For some reason, I really want to see how he draws Takamichi ^^; )

Comic Bonbon is targeted towards elementary school-age readers, so the contents of this manga should be quite "all-age".

(Why they would hire an ero-moe artist to work on a manga targeted at elementary school-age readers is beyond me though ^^; )

November...Same month as Gantz season 2...

Should AQS do this as a project? Sushi-Y, we could get another translator for this version of Negima...We still have JCO who isn't doing anything right now

Does this mean Negima won't be following the original manga plot?

Filler material I guess.

Negima!? is a seperate series based of Negima!, in the same way the Mai-Hime anime and manga are seperate. Same characters, locations, etc., but most plot-related things will be different.

For some reason I think Negima's evolving to a multi-universe franchise like Pokemon.

I guess Negima?! would just have little ordinary events. Should be interesting.

If it's from Essentia, then it's good. I've seen the doujins of Negima done by Essentia, and it's really good stuff, too bad they only made 3 Negima doujins though. Since they said it's a monthly magazine, that means monthly chapters, so it should be easier to do if you guys do decide to scanlate it.

Don't give me ideas I've been thinking of Kaguya-Hime's Angel Raiment for my fic.

A mini Tsubasa Chronicle quest.

I have a bad feeling about this. If it is based off the anime, the new one, then which will control the fate of the other? Will they have to rush things to make them work in manga form or cut things out to make them work in the new anime form?

It's worth seeing before final judgement obviously but I still have a bad feeling about this, especially we another person (no matter how good they are) drawing and writing it.

The anime series will be going too fast, not to mention the fact it has a head start, compared to the manga for the manga to be the base material.

Perhaps base in this case is the wrong way to say it then, but basic story. If they always intended to make it for both, even with one starting after the other, then the story might be forced along a particular line because of the need to make it fit for both.

If not that then the manga is bound by the anime, to a point at least .... based on times I've seen that happen before I repeat again I have a bad feeling about this.

I wonder how this new mangaka will change characters and such around...

Basically, I'm really curious on what will be changed from the original manga work... (But mostly on if Negima!? will change any characters' personalities and such...)

I'm curious how they will look. Will they look similar, sort of like a fans take on them, will they be redesigned even more then that?

All 3 of the Negima doujins done by Essentia is in the savefile project in the Doujin Thread. Look there for examples.

It's just a colored doujin featuring all the girls. And it's for all ages, meaning it's non-hentai.

Jesus...I knew Negima was good, but to get its own spinoff series...

I guess all the disappointment I had when I heard about the changes in the anime are fading away. If it's a new series-one that gets its own Manga to boot-then I guess it's okay.

Problem is the manga is a monthly chapter release, and the anime is weekly, meaning the anime will advance in story much further. Whether or not the manga and anime will have the same story though is a good question.

My personal guess is that the manga's gonna be based off the anime. The anime will be another 26-er while the manga keeps going. Though who's to say how long it'll run for. With manga you can never really tell, but I'm thinking it'll be shorter than the real thing.

This is pretty much like Earth Defence Force! Mao-chan, where the anime came first, and the manga afterwards (and is still running, I believe). Akamatsu did the character designs, but the manga is by Ran.

Nani? I've seen all 26 episodes of Mao-chan but I've not seen yet the manga.

Does it go beyond episode 26?

I have no idea, I haven't watched the anime yet. However, in the anime there is a crossover with Love Hina, whle (so far) in the manga there isn't.

Eh, I've seen the Mao-chan anime (I have it... Well, not officially, if you know what I mean...) but I haven't read the manga...

If the manga is still running, then it most likely goes past the anime...

The episodes of the anime are put into 12-13 minute segments instead of the 25 minute segments that most anime take...

So in a sense, if you wanna put it like this, think of Mao-chan being 13 eps... (2 eps that would make up a normal 25 minute segment...)

Sounds interesting..I was hoping they'd do some more stuff with Negima! even if they are spinoffs...which just proves how much t3h pwn Negima! is to get spinoffs, not only as anime, or manga...BUT BOTH. Negima! FTW

Syris, you forgot the games. No good franchise would be complete without games in the PS2, GBA AND DS.

Though I'm still waiting for a proper RPG for Negima in any console. Making it like Utawarerumono would be even better.

There is a Negima!? DS game. It looks like an RPG, but not sure how it'll really be like.

Eh, people've said the new Negima!? DS game looks like a cross between the Advance Wars (Or any turn based strategy... Fire Emblem could be another candidate...) series and the NamcoXCapcom game...

Most PC games from Japan that we mainly seen are dating sims, or...H-Games, so I doubt we'll see a Negima game for the PC unless it was one of these 2 categories.

Most are as you said, but at least one company, have to check the name, is starting to bring over some PS2 games converted to work on PC. So it is possible with a title this popular that it might be brought over and the odds are better today then they were even a year ago.

Still think it is only around a 50% chance of seeing it, but if all of the spin-off's, the two anime and such prove popular enough that might be enough of one for them to bring it over.
