(EDIT by O_o: ANN link - http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2008-...a-volumes-23-25 )

Ground Breaking News! There has just been an announcement about three new OAVs coming out! And this time they follow the story line! WOOHOO!

The third season is titled: Mahou Sensei Negima! White Wings

OAV # 1 will be out 7/17/08 and will cover chapters 176-7. That'll cover the forming of Negima to Anya arrival in Japan.

OAV # 2 will be out 10/17/08 (le Gasp! The day before my eighteenth birthday! laugh.gif ) and will cover 178-80. This is the beach up to Chiu's second kiss. (huh huh huh wink.gif )

And finally OAV # 3 will be out 1/17/09 and will cover 182-3. Meaning the final bit before the trip, up to the bits during the summer before.

And yes, Kotaro IS going to be animated. FINALLY!

Thanks go to Hata for getting this info off of Ken-sama's diary.

I just realized something:

what happened to chapter 181? They have all chapters from 176 to 183, minus 181!... well, maybe its events will still be covered somewhere anyways

That's when Anya is amazed by the half-foreheaded Neechan and Negi fighting, also Asuna has wings. Tragically, Anya's new best friends betray her, because they've all ready done IT with her dearly belov- I mean her childhood friend!

yes, and as I was noting, they seemed to have left it out of the animation picks, despite being in sequence

It would be interesting to see Anya attempt to sedu- I mean, rescue Negi with all those anesans around

Anybody know what studio will be helming this? The previous Shaft OVA were certainly well animated enough, but the subject matter of the new OVA doesn't really fit their style as well. And of course the less we say about Xebec...

I wouldn't mind seeing KyoAni try their hands at the franchise. You know it would be absolutely gorgeously animated, with incredible attention to background detail (not to mention mad amounts of cameo/parody in the Comiket portion of the 3rd OVA), and a guaranteed Tomokazu Sugita casting as...somebody (TTT, maybe? Nagi? Al?). But the death threats the animators would receive for putting yet another project in front of Haruhi S2 would probably not make it worthwhile...

Gonzo should be out of consideration because, well, it's Gonzo...

Madhouse is always good, but their usual animation style doesn't really fit Akamatsu's style, especially for the new OVAs' subject matter. The thought of Madhouse animating the tourney/Chao arc, however, gives me the shivers...the good kind... I'd take a more realistic art shift for that any day.

Frankly, I'd like to see Sunrise try their hand at it. They can animate cutesy fanservice (Keroro Gunsou) and effects-heavy (Gundam, Code Geass), so a happy medium between the two should work pretty well, and should a full-manga-length series come out of this, they've certainly shown they've got the chops to field the 100+ eps that would require without undue meddling (Gunsou again). Of course, I'd prefer they wait until closer to the end of the manga series to reduce the risk of pulling another Inuyasha...

Hmm - what's wrong with Gonzo?
Last Exile was excellently animated in my opinion ... (and I just re-watched it last week on the DVD's I just bought)

I don't know but in the games, he is played by Sachi Matsumoto. Maybe Shaft will tap her.

And BTW, Mr. Colonel Sanders will also be animated, according to Akamatsu-sensei himself.

Animated by Shaft? I dunno. Will Aquastar be translating the OVAs? Will they be doing Negima White Wing if that turns into an anime? That's what I'd be interested in knowing.

Also, while the Live Action is technically "El Finny", there will be a 26th DVD exclusive episode. Wonder what that will be about...I hope it'll be like Excel Saga's 26th episode in which it was TOO HOT FOR TV.

But seriously. This is great news. I just hope it doesn't turn into another 26er. That wouldn't do this series justice.

Seriously the fact that Shaft's doing it again worries me. I mean they really hit the pavement with that Negima!? anime. I question whether or not they'll actually be true to the manga this time around...Or whether they'll even TRY to be true is what I'm saying. They made their own plot, their own Pactio Cards, their own thing.

I'm not sure whether they're going to be true to Akamatsu's manga or whether they're just gonna turn around and do some sorta stupid parody routine that merely involves the Magic World arc. Will it be Akamatsu's story? Or Shafts? That is the question.

Sorry for the double post, but is there anyway to save threads? There's just something I HAVE to show you guys.

Okay, this is just F*U*C*K*I*N*G hilarious. This comes in about two/three parts.

First off Shinobu's Lover announces that there's gonna be a 3rd anime. In January.

QUOTE
A BIG ANNOUCMENT FROM KEN AKAMATSU TODAY!

There WILL be a 3rd Negima anime made! details are a bit sketchy but Ken said that he has been secretly working things out with AIC A.S.T.A. and the staff who did Bamboo Blade. So if it's true then the animation style should look very similiar to the manga.

From What i have been able to gather This series will be an actual continuation from the 1st series. A TRUE season 2 if you will. It continues the story into the Mahora Festival and most of the 2nd season will take place during this time. Everything from preparation of the festival, to the play they had been planning in season 1, all the way to the mega arial-battle with Lingshin Chao!

perhaps the 4th time's a charm! I can't wait to see what this will be like! Maybe we will finally get a true following of the manga! Story, character designs and style!

As I very well know, he's bullshitting again. He announces !@#* like this just to be popular. Here's the thread if you're interested (I suggest you read it ASAP)

Today after hearing about these OVAs I make my own thread exposing the TRUTH of the matter, and debunking his thread.

http://z15.invisionfree.com/Akamatsu_Fans_...0&#entry9129731

I was curious at how SL would respond to this since he WAS technically right about a third anime. Still he made up the news himself while I posted the information (and proof) I received here.

Here is Shinobu's Lover's response to the news:

1st Negima!? then the Live Action series, and now 4 new OVA's also being produced by Shaft. I can no longer stand to see him continue to make bad decisoons over and over again partaining to his works.

It's been fun. You may still express you fanship of his works in your own way but no longer here. I wish you all luck for your futures.

You should all be reciving an e-mail also.

Wow...It's official. Shinobu's Lover's head has exploded. Again, anyone know how to save threads? This should go into the annals of Negima history.

I don't know about you, but I think Akamatsu-sensei picked Shaft to take this up may be because they have done a better job in animating Negima than XEBEC, regardless of how Negima!? turned out. I even think Mr. Akamatsu liked Negima!? even though it is a deviation.

WOW!

Negima's FINALLY BACK IN THE MAKING! laugh.gif

The Tsubasa Chronicles Series that was made into OVAs was SO good (in story plot and animation) that it impressed many viewers. I really hope Negima can prove the same.

I wonder how the Negima animation and hair (and skin) colour scheme will go? Will they follow the manga or the second anime series?

I hated those OVAs. Not the story itself but how it was done. They destroyed what was a good story and just exploited the Negima name to do some mindless fanservice. I know some early teens may like that, but Negima's plot is good enough that it doesn't need to add even more fanservice to sell. The service Ken does is more then enough to please.

As for the way it was animated, the girls mostly ended up looking like they just had breast enhancement surgery. Did the studio think most of the girls were all Pamela Anderson on Bay Watch before she had hers reduced to something more reasonable? That wasn't drawing the girls true to the manga at all.

That's not true. I'm watching it right now and I don't see all the girls with giant b00bs here (well, maybe Chizuru, Paru and Ayaka, but they have big boobs). Maybe it's just a problem with my episodes... ;/

Sigh...I have yet to figure out why a better studio doesn't pick this up. Seriously, Negima is pretty good enough to pick up plenty of sales. I'm not asking for KyoAni, but Ken could definitely do better than SHAFT...

Still, I'll keep my mind open. If this isn't horrible, I'll be happy...but not particularly impressed.

SHAFT did a very good job of the Spring OVA however the Summer OVA was lacking a little in animation. In the Spring OVA, the variation of shots, face structures, small battle clip, and dramatic scenes (with camera angles during the climax of asuna and negi out on the balconi) was priceless.

Like all animation companies, SHAFT is slowly improving its quality.

Look at XEBECs, whom produced the first Negima series: MAHOU SENSEI NEGIMA!

Back when they were producing it, they had some good episodes though overall it did not meet the standards of anime. The eye coordination was off, hair colours were changed too often during the series, and the plot was lacking a little bit.

Now we see that XEBECs has improved its quality to such an extent that it will tackle ToLoveRU and Kanokon (and I have to admit the trailers had some pretty decent animation).

My point here is that SHAFT is undergoing the same process (and so did KyotoAni a while back before Haruhi though now it is a step ahead of everyone because they made the major improvements when they realized it was needed).

Look at ef-a Tale of Memories. Many similar angle shots and dramatic scenes were similar between Negima!? and this series. If anything, from watching ef I'm really excited to see these Negima OVAs because SHAFT is proving that they can progress in animation and story plot.

Basically, I'm saying don't worry! laugh.gif
