So I'm currently in the middle of a SRPG binge (just powered through most of the NIS games, now moving through Etrian Odyssey II), and as I was trying to figure out some names for my characters, I realized what an excellent source of names Negima is. First of all, the total list of names is huge. Even going with just Negi, Kotarou, Anya, and the rest of 3-A, that makes over thirty names to go with. Even better, about half of them (all the ones in AA, anyhow) already have specialized roles that make them perfect for SRPGs. You've got the frontline fighters, the healers, the mages, the swordswoman, the ninja, the gunner, the beastman, someone who uses ribbons/whips (which are surprisingly prevalent in SRPGs, or perhaps not so surprisingly given that it is the Japanese who make most of them....), the list just goes on and on. And even better, we can use the students from 3-A who have not yet expressed powers to fit any role that is unfilled. The only drawback I really see is the absurd female to male ratio of the ensuing army, but it is a harem, so I suppose I'll survive.
Anyone else use names from Negima, or plan on using them in the future? I'm just delighted to have a source to draw from, I hate coming up with a bunch of names for characters, and the random ones always fail to generate names that make any kind of emotional appeal. |

do some search on things like Warcraft users, etc. you would be surprises how often Negima names show up, this is especially true in Asian (Japan/China/Korea) area directory.

I don't use Negima names that much when it comes to SRPG's. However, my one of my Guild Wars characters is named Hon Ya (after Nodoka's nickname), and I've names a few Pokemon after Negima characters based on their suka forms.

ERHEM... I was screwing around with battlefield 2 and well...
It's strange, but I keep getting shot down by the Narutaki Twins in dogfights. |
