High school of the Dead, A series that will blow you away

The manga's a decent read, but the anime needs quality tightening to make it live up to the story's potential.

Well well well.

ch.28 is out.

I`ve confirmed that HSOTD is a BI-MONTHLY series.
every 2 months.
If a 2nd season of the anime does come out dont expect it for a while.

Well theres hope that her father`s alive which is good.
The nurse`s friend who happens to be the hot badass sniper is coming into the city.

Read the last page and you`ll know who I mean and I expect everyone here will have a similar reaction to mine regarding said character.

Of course I`m buying it!!!!

I JUST GOT MY COPY OF VOL.1!!!!

Unlike Tokyopop you can always count on Yen Press to get your manga with any coloured illustrations should they have them.

Seeing the gang in their initial designs once again shows how much development there was.
The design does pick up quickly as you read the chapters considering it used to be a monthly.


In terms of what happens it only goes upto the point where they escape from the school.

I could go on but I`d like to hear everyone`s opinions on the official vol.1 release.


I have but one complaint!

The price.
I thought a volume of Gantz was bad enough with a retail of £10($12.99).

H.O.T.D. vol.1 was $13.99, I have yet to check the retail price yet but its expensive.
I got it online for £6.80 in case anyones interested.

HSOTD kicks ass. At least the animu did, haven't read the mango but I'll pick it up now that it's out.

The OVA is supposed to be out in April I guess.

Amused at the BD editing of Ep 5 - that actor at the beginning (that looks like a well known Korean actor) that there was a fuss about ... It ends with "To Be Continued..." so I guess either another OVA or Season 2 ... some time in the distant future.

This is why I will never get high or drink alcohol because s**t like that will happen.

The DVD/Blu-ray set which will have an english dub comes out June 28th.

Considering how this OVA came with the limited edition of vol.07 of the manga which was very recent, the OVA will not come with the set.

There is already a 1080p of it on TT ... so I guess the manga came with a BluRay?!?
That's surprising.

As for my comment about "To Be Continued..." - well they clearly mean that there will be more - since they also said it in English at the end (as well as writing it in J)

Other than deciding about having a Season 2 (which no one knows yet) the delay of a Season 2 is simply until they have enough material.

I may be over-thinking this but she also said the fight will continue.

One of the amazing things about this series is how they`re not trying to kill all the zombies.
They simply want to get to their families.

It is possible and to be honest I wouldnt mind this.

Making a S2 with completely original content.

I don't really think too many people would be happy with a filler season.

The anime version is already full of fanservice and not much story - but a 2nd season that was completely different to the manga would probably not go down well ... though in my opinion mainly because the animie itself really isn't that good ... as I said, full of fanservice and not much story ...

Another analysis of S1!

The only time the story develops is when Takagi reunites with her parents which is at the very end.

Simply put theres just not enough content both in the manga and the anime.

If a S2 were to happen we shouldnt expect it for several years.

Anime released in the US. (More likely I just noticed it...)

Anyway...

I think it looks pretty good. Biggest issue I have, though the manga is the same way, is that the pace is so slow, twelve episodes isn't going to cover much.

I just recently started this series. So far it's an interesting read, if a little heavy on the fanservice. Seako is by far the best character in the series. Not to mention the hottest one.

So who do you guys prefer Takashi end up with, Saya or Seako?

Nope, where'd you get it from Neko? Was it off the internet, or was it from a Barnes & Nobles or some such?

Otherwise, I'm getting tired of waiting for a new chapter. I mean it's been months since chapter 29 came out. When the h#ll will chapter 30 be released. This is seriously a good way of killing a series imo.

Saeko hands down... Saya is bound for Hirano methinks.

And Im glad you didn't include Rei in the choices.. GOD! lets not get started with her!

Heh, Rei is far and away the most b!tchtastic clingy jealus girl in manga history imo. As for Saya, probably, but I'd sorta like to see her with Takashi. Just for the heck of it really.

As for the mangaka. I'm pretty sure it's a brother tandem, with one handleing artwork and the other handleing the story. One of them, I'm not sure which has started a second series called TraigeX.

Anyway, it could be worse I suppose. It could turn out the way Air Gear and Tengo Tenge by Oh! Great did.*shudders*

Even with the crush she has on Takashi, Takagi does seem to be softening towards Hirano...

Though she might kill him if he ever does in the manga what he did in the OAV...
