QUOTE (Strange_One @ Oct 28 2010, 10:48 AM)
A somewhat epic development in the most recent crash in Sino-japanese relations (why must everyone hate each other over there??) as reported by Sankaku in an article entitled "Japan fights China with moe. China crushed."

If you want to see pics you'll have to go there (not worksafe, purely because its Sankaku). But for those who don't want to I'll copy the text here:
...

Hmm I've not visited Sankaku for a while ... last time my Firefox went silly scrolling and I ended up killing it to stop the scrolling coz it was a page with many comments and the scrolling was slow (I waited about 15 minutes before killing it)

So this time I thought: what the heck - I'll see the pictures ... not bad.
Click ... scroll ... STOP SCROLLING ... nope it still happens and it's probably due to that new silly transparent overlay at the stop ...
Though I'm running 3.5 - not 3.6

Well....you have to give them credit for being creative about it.

There's really no better way of handleing insults than turning them into something non-insulting. That way the "insult" loses all meaning, hopefully causeing things to cool off.

The last thing the victim saw... his family... and his Killer...

Additionally, the local news added that the victim carried his service firearm when he was shot, his family told reporters that he didn't draw it out because it may make the suspect hurt his family and neighbors...

Such a thing on New Year's eve....

Perhaps all the echii/hentai is an attempt to regain said sex drive...

I mean with the amount of fetishfuel and such I've seen in anime/manga lately. It almost seems like a desprite attempt to get a hard on by the auther.

btw, like your new siggy shao.tongue.gif

Ahhh the joy of statistics:
"The study, which reportedly surveyed 1,301 people aged 16 to 49"
Which means the results are next to meaningless.

Why can't she just say good bye?

We've all heard of road rage ... but (fatal) cinema rage?
http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2011/feb/21...-cinema-popcorn

... though I found other versions of the same story stating that the victim wasn't the popcorn eater but the 'plaintiff'

Actually - I don't really find that very surprising.
Property boundaries, fences and the subject of that story are common problems between neighbours.
Such problems also quite often flair up into something worse.
In an area where it is OK to have a gun, it's not surprising to hear that people use them.

... but amusing to read about smile.gif ... especially when no one dies

IT IS DELICIOUS STEAK. YOU MUST EAT IT YES?

And courtesy of Sankaku and in mind of those who don't wanna go there to read it
QUOTE
Reportedly an Akihabara curry house is offering freebies to visitors who bring their girlfriends along to dine with them – with the caveat that the girlfriend in question can be a figure.

Those bringing their girlfriend (in the form of a figure) along to Mammoth Curry and placing her on their table will be able to claim a free drink.

Apparently the scheme was hatched upon when the venue (whose main claim to fame is a 1kg curry for ¥950) was running a more conventional “free curry for your girlfriend if you come as a couple” event for a week last year – this being Akihabara, soon many patrons were asking whether their girlfriend had to be real or not.

Those wishing to give it a try can make their way to Mammoth Curry in Akihabara, taking care to bring their girlfriend.

2ch appears to be well suited to this offer:

    “They’re a bit late!”

“A doll! You’re high level all right!”

“What happens if you take a real girl with you?”

“You’ll be looked upon with cold, cold eyes.”

“The shop will think some kind of weirdo has arrived.”

“The other customers might start on you.”

    “You’re creepy!”

Oh hey! Azunyan's on the BBC!

wait hold on...
the clip was about Japan's dwindling birth rate, perverted otakus with no sex drive (imagine the irony), the possible death of an entire country via population implosion...

and all you took from that was AZUNYAN'S NANDROID!?

This is Britain. Anime characters appear on TV about as often as Halley's comet coming around Earth or something heh.gif

Japan's rather crazy population/social problems are things well covered on Sankaku anyways, so no surprises. Just a footnote - if the BBC's talking about it - it must be bad.
