Hmm - ah well, I read the 1 year bit too quickly and got it wrong
I got gg when it finally came out and re-checked that bit - yeah it's the same - both subs mean the same thing - oh well my misunderstanding ...

Then, to my annoyance, I found another stupid advert in the middle of the gg version just after the point where this picture was that I was referring to ...
But watching it a third time (nothing to do with the subs) made me realise that it was simply just the end of Suruga's memory - up to yesterday evening - the past (memory) had almost reached the present ... I didn't realise that the first or second time.

I just think it's a good series. It's mellow pace never slips to being slow and it's mostly double-act comedy. Different from anything else I've watched and it feels very consistent.

• Senjougahara instructed her to act as cute as possible, thus Kanbaru chose the clingy girl approach. Linking arms isn't typically that big a thing in the mind of a guy while Kanbaru would just think of it as a way of teasing Araragi.
• Thinking about it - Did Oshino even ask Kanbaru for payment?
• There we go - throwaway line on the status of her arm. Long enough for her to use it if needed for the series, not long enough to impede her life as a whole.
• Dang. Despite the masculine personality of Kanbaru she has a good shriek.
• Hanekawa's wrong in that individual case - Senjougahara put Kanbaru up to it after all - but overall yeah. Araragi really doesn't resist or say no. You Emiya Shirou you.
• While she's the wise sempai type and is able to play with Araragi with a straight face, she seems relatively innocent in knowledge. What exactly did the pervert cat do with her I wonder?
• Somehow I have the feeling that the two girls feeling ill aren't directly related.
  I'm under the impression Kanbaru felt ill due to the spiritual disturbance of the temple while Hanekawa's may be an aftereffect of her own past oddity or just a health condition of her's

• Despite her attacking Araragi's room in a typical nosy girl manner - she fills the role of Araragi's guy friend really well.

• An obviously distressed girl strips down before them and so they casually have a conversation about clothing fetishes before anything else?!?
• Another reason for Kanbaru's prominent part in the ep. Quick ID on the bondage scars.

At this stage of the game, of all series I've sampled Bakemonogatari is the undisputed best of the season imo.

No idea why they didn't play it last week ...
Of course, the OP does make it look like Sengoku is after her onii-chan

Obviously lots of background discussion to make the show more interesting that I'll have ot wait for the sub ...
But it all seemed to be going along way too well that I was expecting a problem ... maybe even to make it a 3rd episode ... then the snake returned onto her and we had the expected problem, but they sorted it out by the end of the Ep anyway.

Ah well, looks like Araragi has another little girl to add to his collection ...[/Spoiler]
10 Ending pic: WTF?


Looking back at the previous episode and watching it again ... I guess Tsubasa's headache is the preview for her episodes that are coming up soon?

The ED music is growing on me more and more each week ... I'll have to add it to my J-Pop-Anime CD I play in the car
The full Supercell version isn't as good as their ED version

I thought the full version was great

After last week's episode Bakemonogatari has been catapulted to object of worship for... certain communities. The OP at least this time only strengthens that... (where's Athos?)

Among the trolling are claims that many of the single phrase scenes are unfinished scenes due to overrunning deadlines. They say they hope they're filled out in the DVD release.

IMO the singing the the full version isn't as good as the 89 second ED.

Well, don't forget there will be 3 episodes released on the web site after episode 12 (the last one) is to be broadcast.
If they had extra material, that sounds like it could definitely be the way they could provide it.

Myself? I have no idea or even a guess at what will be in those 3 episodes.

As for running out of time? I don't think so.
Again, this all boils down to the somewhat unexpected idea some people seem to have that these shows are being animated while they are being broadcast.
I seriously doubt that. What company would consider broadcasting a TV show season that wasn't already completed?
Even if they were that silly there is no way they would be waiting each week for each episode to be completed - no chance in hell of that.

... Oh sorry, this week we didn't finish the animation due to technical difficulties, so there's no show to broadcast ...

I think that idea has already become an urban legend in it's own time ... coz people seem to make comments regularly that clearly assume it is actually true ... when there is no way in my opinion that a TV company would even consider the outrageous risk of that.

Kinda like my reaction with most of the K-on! songs then ah well. I really want all the variations of Staple Stable T_T

You know... if they've done a contract they have little/no ability to extend their deadlines without major fallout - if it's a series that's been 'ordered' by a company or contracted for a broadcast slot with a TV company. I think it's the same for most series even in the US. Heck, usually to even get the funding they need to do the contracts first

I do get the impression that work is still done when the show goes to air in Japan. 2-4 weeks in advance sounds plausible.
It's the origin of the world's best anime and manga. It's not like they can just buy an entire ready made series and dump it on DVD or TV broadcast (after translating, dubbing and sometimes editing on mutilation scale)

Was not very impressed with this weeks dialogue.

More Senjougahara please ... Suruga seems to have lost her fun side ...

The only important thing I seemed to have missed from not having the subs was the fact that the problem was that there were 2 snakes instead of one (and also that the shrine was a 'battle ground')
Um ... aren't they called "Boa Constrictors" ??? ("Snake Constrictors" ???)

Tsubasa Neko next ... now we just need to add ears for a megane-nekomimi

I don't think they're meant to be real species names - just a description of the curse effect.

It's a snake. And it constricts you. Japanese sounds awesome. Translate into English it really is lame and unimaginative.

I think the money's on all 5 parts being on the cat.

The novel is longer than all the previous parts. (And all the previous had to be savagely cut and edited down already)

But this is the 2nd last episode (plus 3 extra on the web site afterwards)

Only a guess of course (though as I said before I have no idea) but I don't expect the extra 3 to be full new episodes, I'd expect them to be more content expanding on what has gone before ... or even of what happened to Araragi/Shinobu before episode 1

Aside: as for the 2-4 weeks before, yeah that's VA stuff, not animation (I did say animation before) ... they could probably do the whole VA work for a season in a single week if they wanted.
If they were really doing any of the major work while the show was going, they would have changed the last few episodes and put in more Senjougahara taking part coz they know that she has been 'well received'

Ah, right - I thought you referring to whole 'packaged products'.

Guess we'll see how it goes soon enough. I share the desire for more Senjougahara-tore.

edit: apparently the next ep will actually see those two on a date. Should be plenty of abuse and tore.

Just how many episodes is this anime?

I saw in the web that ep 12 is the final ep and seeing the relation of shinobu to the class rep I think both of them can really be mixed in the last ep.

Yep one more televised episode to go.
But after it's finished there will be 3 more at some stage later to download from the website.
I guess that has something to do with the passwords that they keep showing each week?

I respect the crisp lines of HD.

I'm still hearing from many quarters that Tsubasacat will be 5 eps long. I think the passwords are for extra stuff on their website rather than the online eps though...

The first half was excellent - back to the part of this story that I have liked the most.

Assuming the information that Tsubasa's novel was longer than all the others is correct - the extra 3 may be Tsubasacat.
I think I read on the wiki or something they wanted to do the 'story' (nonspecific) justice.

Also - either the Wiki is wrong, or Shinobu only yammers on in the online episodes.

Well, in addition to having to comment on #12 at some point.

Apparently the Blu-ray DVDs have more Seiyuu as the characters have audio commentary spots on the episodes. Sounds hilarious

I can't say I'm satisfied or disappointed at ep 12. Oh well there is still 3 eps for me to watch

Methinks Keitaro is not feeling enough Senjougahara-tore....

Anyways - from the less savoury parts of the internet Bakemonogatari has scored #1 for best anime of 2009
Haruhi surprisingly is 8th - the reasons could be debatable and Hayate got 9th.

8th? Wow that's way too high IMO - I'd have giuessed about a 20th or 30th

Episode 13 comes on the 28th. And apparently the DVD extra dialogue is written by the original author himself. Awesomeness.

Yes I downloaded Ep 2 from gg also (and no raw) so I never saw it before either.

I'm right now browsing through the bakemonogatari site trying to find where to use the passwords.
I spent a little while working out all the kanji (gg only translated 5 of their 9 episodes I had - I did the rest myself and also had to work out the kanji for all of them ...)

You, of course, would need the Kanji on the site wherever it's used ... still searching ...
