FairyTail, Magic, Wizards & Guilds ... well so far

This one seems to be OK ... having watched the first episode (subbed)

It's licensed by Crunchyroll, so you're not allowed to download it in the US OK?

Magic, Wizards, Guilds and attempting to be amusing also ... not too badly.

Gotta say - what's with the name? I always thought it was a story (tale) not an appendage (tail)
But that's how it's spelt on the Guild building - so I guess how it will stay.

Unusual that it's set in something like the technological present and not the middle ages.

Ep 1 has a couple of major battle scenes - not too bad - hopefully they will continue in the following episodes.

Doesn't look like a harem in any way so far - nice to be different

The manga has been ongoing since August 23, 2006 (17 volumes)
Current chapter appears to be 154.

Episode 2 has the same name as manga chapter 3.
[Spoiler=Ep1 Summary]The first episode features Natsu (guy at the front), Happy (flying cat top right) and Lucy (girl with yellow hair).
Lucy is a wizard looking to join a guild - specifically: "FairyTail"
A well known wizard "Salamander" comes to town and uses a love charm to make many girls come to his boat for a party.
Natsu and Happy (who also just arrived 'back' in town) hear about him and wonder if he is a Wizard/Dragon they are looking for called Igneel (apparently Igneel's a dragon, but you don't see him yet so I'm not exactly sure what it means to say he is a 'dragon')
Natsu inadvertently interferes with Slamander's spell over Lucy so thus she rewards him with a meal.
Salamander later convinces Lucy to come to the party by saying he is a member of FairyTail
On the boat party all the girls (except Lucy) are overcome by a sleep charm and we find that Salamander is just getting them for the expected evil dude reasons
Lucy ends up going overboard and calling on the spirit of Aquarius to wash the whole boat back to shore (aside: but Aquarius doesn't seem to be too happy with Lucy )
In the end we eventually find out that Salamander is a fake, Natsu is actually Salamander and also a VERY power wizard and a member of the FairyTail guild as he battles with (and totally defeats) the fake Salamander.

I`ve benn upto date with the manga.
So I say no spoilers.

But I`m happy.
The manga is over 160 chapters and still running so they have no excuse for fillers or filler endings.

I'm reading the manga.
Even though the description says it's composed of wizards and mages, it doesn't feel like it at all.

Another anime that disappointed me.
Natsu's voice really doesn't fit him. Also, the studio seems to be underfunded, so the animation isn't so impressive.
Stilll, I'll be riding this one out.

The Magic Circle is drawn a bit weird...

And yeah, the name of the guild will be explained (not really)

I downloaded the first episode a few days ago, since one of my friends said it was pretty good. Although, I haven't gotten around to watching it yet.

I'm having second thoughts on downloading the anime cause i sense that this will be a VERY LONG anime

ANN says 13 episodes

Those are just the confirmed dates for the episodes to air.
I seriously doubt the anime will have 13 episodes.

Doubt it. There will be more. And probably, we will see the DREADED FILLER.

Not sure if any of these are considered Shounen ... but:
Canaan 13 eps
Each of the 3 Ikkitousen seasons were only 13 or 12 eps
Samurai Girl Real Bout High School 13 eps

Fairy tail can be more or less be introduced to an all aged audience like Naruto and Bleach.

Ikki-tousen has quite abit of ecchi and I dont know any ecchi series that has gone over 26 episodes.

Canaan isnt the same theme and it was based on a game(so it`ll have a quick ending).
Real bout if I`m not mistaken was filler mostly(I have not watched).

The three series you mentioned are for a specific audience unlike Fairy Tail.

The series is very good.

Actually I'm reading the series that's why I'm staying away from the anime

because it may lead to another ONE PIECE/NARUTO/BLEACH!

Ep 2 pretty much says it's supposed to be a comedy ... when they arrive at the guild ... and when Romeo hits Makarov
I don't mind - fine by me.
As long as it doesn't get too stupid too often

Fairy tail`s intro went nicely.

Love how the monkey pointed to the window and then pushed Natsu out.


I know its too early to say this but I`m happy that its following the manga.
Even the original content is good and flows nicely with the story.


I have no problem with Natsu`s voice. He doesnt sound too young, hyperactive and retarded like a certain ninja and grown man with a monkey tail that we all know of.


I`m not sure if any of you are familiar with the mangaka`s works but the key that Lucy bought in the first episode is Plue who travelled with the main character of "Rave Master" which is from the same mangaka.

I beleive Rave Master was on an english kids tv but for some reason they never eng dubbed all the episodes.


Anyway since we`re on the topic of Lucy`s keys.
You guys know the star signs like Tauros and Aquarius that we saw in the anime.
The 12 star sign spirits Keys are gold and are considered the strongest.
Lucy has more of them and will collect more these special keys as the story progresses.
There is a star sign spirit in Fairy tail, in fact he/she was clearly seen in the second episode.
I wont say who.

As you know Natsu is a dragon slayer user who Igneel raised and then one day abandoned him.

As the series goes on they`ll be two more who like Natsu were raised by a dragon of a certain element and were abandoned by that dragon on the exact date and like Natsu they are looking for their dragon.
You noticed how Natsu eats fire.
So do the other two dragon slayers who eat metal and wind.
Yes theres guy that eats metal.
And an adorable loli that eats air(she just breathes, doesnt actually need to eat).

LOLed at Erza in Ep 6 with her 'magic girl' armour transformation

Oh yeah - I guess the word Tail must have to do with Happy coz it keeps swinging it's tail during the 'intermission' when it says Fairy Tail?
(Also - don't answer that question if you do know the answer )

The maid outfit(not to mention the ED) gave it away...

Maybe the symbol of Fairy tail is a fairy`s tail.

The latest arc just ended with a big bang with Natsu`s golden transformation.

I will say, I like the battle scenes in this show ... Natsu's fire effects are great ... and Ezra of course, another magical girl transformation in Ep 8

So the strongest members of the guild finally made their appearance, one of them is shy, and the other has an ego as big as jupiter!

Anyways, Laxus is still as egoistic as ever, Gray got into the fray then got a bit character development, Natsu's as stupid as ever, Lucy and Happy... are still there.

14, 15 & 16 - well they are dragging on the story of Deliora a bit ...
Climactic ending to 15 ... then ...
Now another climactic ending to 16 ... I'm expecting the same result again as with 15
But I gotta say - I loved "Ice Canon" - so coooool (yes I meant that as a joke also)

It seems (from reading the sub comments) that the anime has censored Grey's injuries compared to the manga?

The anime is tame in the injuries department...
I dunno, do they hate to animate blood or something??

Anyways, since reading up the manga series, I've kinda lost interest in the anime. I'll probably go see the anime rendition of the following arcs: Tower of Paradise & Erza's past, Phantom Lords invasion, the Luxus uprising, Nirvana and Oracion Seis and Lucy-became-OMG-POWERFUL!. Until then, its just manga for me....

But seriously, read the manga. Very interesting things are happening.

Oh yeah, just to explain the name "Fairy Tail" it's basically to symbolize how the Guild loves adventure and finding new things, such as the answer to the question "Do fairies have tails?". The Master explains it to Natsu in a flashback.

Yeah, the Lisanna issue is a fairly large plot point. At least regarding her older siblings.

Well, at least they're generally doing fillers based on little side comics in the actual manga, but[Spoiler=Click here for Spoiler]I wanna see the fight against Phantom already!! You've got them in the opening so show them!!!!![/Spoiler]

Ranting aside, this episode really makes it that much harder to know what happened. Lisanna...

Well, since they've already hinted at the new arc in the second opening, I doubt there'll be just twenty six.

Even if they go full blast through the arc, it'll still take up more than the current projected episodes they have.

Really hoping they don't end it after that though.

Well, we've got just four episodes left if ANN is correct, and seventeen more chapters left of the arc.

Lucy's background ... hmm I wonder if she's the spoilt rich run-away or the ignored or abused run-away.

Well with 4 more episodes to go, and the next one continuing Lucy's/Phantom's story, I'm now certain we'll miss out on the stories of Lisanna and Igneel.

Maybe 2nd season? (ANN still says only 26 episodes)

Igneel is definitely going to go unanswered (we've just had little bits and pieces in the manga) but Lisanna's "fate" is shown/touched upon during the fighting this arc.

Aww ... we didn't get to see her transformation from nude to Adamantine Armor ... but everyone in Fairy Tail did.
I was half expecting her clothes to disappear in the last transformation when she was on the ground
