Story opens with the world of Flonyado (or Fronyald?) a somewhat mix of the Edo period, magic (and hints of the present)
The inhabitants are dog people (good guys?) and cat people (bad guys?) - though that's just their hair and ears (and tails)

A war is in progress and the Biscotti Republic is about to lose the Filianno Castle in an upcoming battle.
The princess Millhiore (voiced by Yui Horie) decides to use their 'final trump card' and summon a hero.

Izumi is an atheltics star (middle school) in current period Japan.
He is the 'hero' summoned (about half way through the first episode) by a 'real' dog (Tatsumaki) sent to current Japan to bring back the hero.

He appears (in a large flower like bud) before the Princess.
The battle starts and they rush to the scene ... only to find that is is like one of those Japanese battle TV shows being 'televised' and commented on - WTF?!?
Clearly perfect for Izumi tongue.gif

When a soldier is defeated it turns into some weird cat thing tongue.gif
(so the aim is that none are injured though that is explained as not always being the case)

Background graphics are pretty good.
Character animation is OK also (except the battle scene characters are pretty LQ)

Hmmm.. where have I watched a very similar setting..

Ah! Isekai no Sekishi Monogatari! (hero gets summoned from other world, then he becames the strongest in the world he was summoned on). With a splash of Utawarerumono, with overtones from Wanko no Karasou, a pinch of Gensomaden Saiyuki and a dash of Star Driver..(sassou toujo! TTTAAAUUUBBBUUURRNNN!!!!).
But all of those impressions flew out of the window the moment commentators appeared... I concluded its the reality show "Wipeout" in anime form, with dogs and cats and swords and magical powers... XD2.gif

Its been a long time that I liked a Yui Horie character... wub.gif

Chocobo? IS THAT A CHOCOBO?!?!

Actually my only real issue with it is ... why DOGS?!?

I want cat girls biggrin.gif

Seriously, when you call a girl a dog you don't mean anything nice about that at all tongue.gif

Otherwise, nothing really bad about it so far.
Though I'm wondering what they can do to the story to keep interest for a whole season ...

I am half expecting that Izumi can also travel back to the present.

Leo (without any character development so far) reminds me (unexpectedly) of the Yuki (Haruhi) type character and also looks it (e.g. also like the Necromancer in Kore wa Zombie) ...

You know - I didn't even realise that tongue.gif

Watching the beginning again, yep many of the main ones have thin tails - so they are cats
(well I guess a name like Leo would imply a cat also - D'oh - and you can see her tail in my picture above - double D'oh)

OMG! Cat girls are evil and Dog girls are good - sacrilege!
(made a small change to the first post)

This series certainly has me intereted.

When I was thinking of blood-shed etc. etc. I see Gladiators(used to watch it all the time when I was a kid).

We need more Dog-Girls.

You always hear Neko-mimi(cat-ear n case u didnt know) but rarely Inu-mimi.

I`d love to see more of that.

Seriously though I cant help but question their defination of War......
I mean....I guess this a more sensible version of it but still........

I should watch a few more episodes before commenting on that department.

Regardless I`ll watch the episodes for now.

So is this series an anime orginal? based on novel? manga? maybe game?

So I watched the episode out of sheer curiousity/boredom.

And all I can think to say is meh.

Not sure why but I'm haveing difficulty suspending my disbelief here. Maybe I'm just thinking too much and should try turning my brain off.

The fact that Nana "Feito" Mizuki is in the cast guaranteed this at least one viewing but since it looks like she's not one of the leads this hasn't secured a spot on my watchlist.

And with Ep 2 ... we have the actual battle including Izumi ... with Eclair ... and the usual Keitaro-style accidents that happen between the two of them ...

... Leo ... too much cat-girl fanservice ...
How is that possible? How can you have too much cat-girl fanservice? biggrin.gif

"I'll invade you thoroughly next time!" ... please do Leo smile.gif

The end of Ep 2: oops!

Meh, it was ok I suppose...

Though why do I suddenly have the feeling that Leo is going to fall for Shinku by the end of this. At which time she'll call off the whole thing as a favor to him.

Or is that just my imagination getting the better of me?

Well for no particular reason (other than having something to watch when I've watched the few shows I actually think are good) I'm still watching this.

To my surprise, the previous episode (Ep 5) clearly shows that there aren't just cats and dogs.

There's even big busty usagi girls biggrin.gif biggrin.gif LOL
(Vert 'green' of the Génoise 'French Pastry' - on the left you can see her bunny tail, if the ears aren't already a give-away)

(though she did show her tail back in episode 3 also when the Génoise did their Power Rangers appearance)

Certainly as long as you don't try to take any of this show seriously (or as Trowa suggested: switch off your brain) it's OK smile.gif
Or if you like Yui Horie singing the ED as well as being the main character ... (and the ED reminds me of something else ... that I can't remember)

Also, this is an anime original - no Manga before (or yet)

... time to watch Ep 6 now ... ... wow already half way through the season ...

Edit: and to my surprise, Ep 6 ends with some actual drama added to the story ... it almost looked like it was Shinku fighting Millhiore ?!?
