According to reports, the A's are talking to the Pittsburgh Pirates about a trade that would send All-star catcher Jason Kendall to Oakland for pitchers Mark Redman and Arthur Rhodes.

Kendall,30,has a lifetime .306 batting average in 9 seasons with Pittsburgh. He is the Pirates all-time leader in games caught.

He will make $34 million through the 2007 season that includes a no-trade clause.Reports say that kendall may waive his no-trade clause to go to Oakland.

The Pirates have not had a winning season in Kendall's 9 seasons in Pittsburgh. They have finished as high as second place during his tenure(79-83 in 1997).
