Kya skidded onto a large icy waste-land atop her penguin steed. "I LOVE penguin sledding!!!" she shouted to the sky. Kovu poked his head out of her pack.

Oh, the things you do for entertainment...

Kya smiled at her friend then glanced up. Ahead of her was a gigantic silver and gold pole. Coming off it were thick satin ribbons that, although they were worn from weather, still held the vibrant colors of the four nations.

"Wow!" Kya exclaimed. "Its a gigantic maypole! Lets play with it!"

I don't know Kya... Kovu said, looking at the pole. I'm getting weird vibes from this thing....

Kya ignored him and grabbed onto a blue ribbon. As soon as her fingers touched the satin, a current of air picked her up. She screamed in pleasure as she swirled around the maypole, her long ribbon winding around the base. She could almost hear a strange music as she swung around in the air.

Too soon, the ribbon twisted around the very bottom of the structure. The winds died and Kya plopped to the ground, her hair and robes mussed and her cheeks rosy. A tiny breath of wind unwound the ribbon and the maypole stood again, ready for its next rider.

Smiling at her new source of entertainment, Kya sent streams of water into the air, signaling for her friends to come.

(just for reference, a maypole is one of those medieval toys were u walk around in circles holding ribbons that weave into one another, then u have to walk around again to un weave them.looks like this maypole pic.....ne way, this one just happens to make you fly instead of walk around it!!! just another mysterious toy of the airbenders.....^^)

As she waited for others, Kya grabbed onto the blue ribbon again, and screamed again with joy as the winds swirled up and tossed her into the air like a leaf. She wondered where the others were.

Suddenly, she felt a tug on her boot. She looked down to see Lyra, her new born dragon had flown up and latched onto her, wanting to see what all the comotion was about. Kya carefully extended one hand out to grab Lyra by the tail and swing her onto her shoulder.

Lara sat meditating nearby, but when she heard Kya's joyful screams, she ran toward the maypole, and looked up at it curiously. When the red ribbon fluttered slightly, Lara couldn't resist, and grabbed the ribbon tightly with both hands. Soon she was airborne, flying around the maypole, just as fast as Kya.

When the maypole slowed to its graceful stop, Kya panted from the sheer exhileration, smiling for all she was worth. "I think this is the most fun I've had in a long, long time."

When Lara landed, she nodded, her hair tangled by the wind .

"That was awesome!"

Kya smiled as an idea came to her. She wiped her wind-swept hair out of her face and gazed at the quiet sea to her right. She grabbed the ribbon again and was swirling through the air. At just the right moment, she let go, screaming. With a splash, she landed in the cold arctic waters with a heavy splash. She climbed back onto land, shivering, then bent all the water off of her clothes, giggling.

"That was awesome!!!" she exclaimed. "Now I know how airbenders feel! Well, except for the falling and landing in the water part."
