Well, I didn't know where to put this, but what the heck. I'm posting it here.
Anyway, this topic is about some tips and help with coming up with Avatarish names. These aren't the rules on how to create a character's name, but just some tips that'll hopefully help you in creating a successful name. Number 1: Avatar names aren't exactly "Western World-ish." You don't see characters running around with names like "Paul and James" and such. Number 2: Avatar names are more Asian, but don't let that stop you; experiment with some Native American, Aborigine, etc. names. They have some nice names. Number 3: Avatar names aren't totally Japanese either. They're more simple and short--like "Jin" and "Aang"--instead of long and complicated like "Naruto Uzamaki." Number 4: Avatar names don't necessarily need "to have a meaning." Take "Aang" for example...His name doesn't mean anything! Number 5: If you wish to have a meaning for a name, you could just Google "meaning of <insertawordhere>" and etc. Then look at the results. You might find some other names that appeal to you! Number 6: Why not just create a name by using random syllables? It's easy! Links: BabyNames BabyNameNetwork -- Well, that's all for now... Might add some stuff to it later, but hopefully that helps you! ^^ (P.S. Please comment! Because that helps improve the quality of this "tutorial." ^^) This post has been edited by A:TLA on Dec 13 2007, 04:37 PM -------------------- |

I agree, baby names are a great outlet to find character names.
Plus, try using your friends or your own nicknames for character names/nicknames. -------------------- Once upon a time there was a girl { You wouldn't really call her typical } Had her own definition of n . cool She lived in her | o w n | | wo rl d. | [ She had her own style, her own rules ] She Nobody really even "knewhername?"
