Super Mario 64 DS

Now we all remember the classic Mario game on the N64, right? If you didn't, you only missed one of the best 3D Mario games ever. Don't go out and buy it though, the new DS version is so much better. Basicly, Princess Peach invites Mario and Co. for some cake (lame, huh?). They arive and enter the Princess' castle. They dodn't come out and Yoshi is sent to save them and Princess Peach. After you save each character, you can play as them, each with his own special moves. In the original, Mario went alone and was never kidnapped, only Peach.

The new version have more levels, more power stars to collect and multiplayer battles for up to 3 people (I think). The graphics are amazing for something so small. Unlike the Metoid Prime Hunters Demo, which has bad graphics (they tried to make it look like GC graphics, but made it look like crap instead), Super Mario 64 DS is crystal clear, even if they're only N64 type graphics. Polygons aren't that bad.

Controls are crap on this. Movement with the D-pad is annoying (it's hard to explain), you have to hold the X button just the run, and in order to do some moves you must press a hard to press button. For example, to dive, you must run with X then press A (which is opposite to it). I usually accidentaly hit B (below Y and A) before A, so I end off jumping instead!

In the normal game, the touch screen is used for a map, changing view, and if you want, move. The game also has tons of mini-games, in which the touch screen is used for everything. In one mini-game, you must draw alternate paths to guide Mario away from enemies. In another, you use the touch screen to aim a slingshot to hit bombs out of the air before they hit the fire-flowers you are protecting. There are quite a few good ideas for the touch screen!

Overall it's an awesome upgrate of an old game! I'd give it an 8/10. It's all perfect except the controls...
