Friend mentioned this: Can I use a halberd and still benefit from the EFFECTS of the Shield (not the Armoursave)?

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to still get the effects of it since wielding it and a halberd only negates the armour save and not the shields other effects so I would say it's effects are still usable.

Nah, don't have rulebook with me but it covers this pretty explicitly as far as I remember - you need to be wielding the shield to gets its benefits.

Isn't he still wielding the shield though but just not gaining the armour save from it I can check the rulebook though and see if it says anything.

Edit: Can't seem to find anything in the rulebook about it currently.

Quite a conundrum. My best goes with no, just to play it safe until we can clarify it.

I'll still stick with saying that the shield still does it's effects since it just requires the wielder of it to be in base contact to work correctly.

Since you cannot use a Halberd and benefit from a shield at all (i.e. you lose all armor save bonus, not just the handweapon/shield bonus) I would say no effect.

I see no rule that prohibits gaining the benefits, but I feel like it's pretty poor sportsmanship to claim them if you aren't actually using it.

Yeah I suppose people could call it poor sportsmanship but you would just be using it how it describes in the book so it's not like your using a loophole or anything your doing exactly what it says.
