Cecily laughed. "Indeed, it might cause great havoc with her daily routine."

Cecily thought about that a moment, then shrugged slightly. "I don't know." a look of puzzlement flickered across her face, then she continued. "I suppose it's because ladylike pursuits are so boring. There's no excitement in them. For instance, it is much more enjoyable to go horseback riding than to sew. Sewing is dull, I can tell you."

Yes, my dress is coated in mud up to the knee. It was all my brother's fault. Honest.

And the fact that I pushed him first is irrelevant.

Henry's smile was subtle as he said, "Perhaps you are thinking of the wrong sort of lady, Miss Hurston. I've no doubt sewing is dull, of course." He smirked. "I think most useful things are dull. But horsebackriding--that is an exciting and, dare I say it, rather distinguished accomplishment. Do you ride often? Or do you find yourself faced with the same calamities as walking?" He grinned here, recalling to her her great tumble when they had first met.

Cecily laughed and shook her head. "I ride at every opportunity. My father keeps no less than five of the magnificent creatures about at all times, and allows us the use of them at any time."

A smile flitted over her features. "And no, I rarely fall into such fixes as that."

OOC: Oops. I seem to have missed this last round. Sorry!

IC:
"Well, I am certainly glad to hear that," Henry conceded mildly. "I think it important for ladies to have pursuits to which they are wholly dedicated. Some would argue that passions make a lady restless. I however, think it keeps them from being leeched of any sentiment worth having."[b] He here paused as the song came to an end and he bowed to her. Offering his arm, he asked, [b]"You were so keen on me gleaning information from your father. I wonder if you'd resent the same service to yourself." Presumptuous to openly ask for a conversation, perhaps, but he did not think she would mind.

The girl had, after all, been quite alone before he and Josephine had come up to her and he was not averse to continuing the conversation, but he did not wish to monopolize her time. And there were a good number of agreeable looking ladies about the dance room.

Henry had caught a glance of an attractive redhead of a seemingly modest disposition--for they had passed some of the dance together and she had refused to look him in the eye--and a blonde young woman with striking, dark eyebrows.

Or there was always Horatia if these three women did not work out. Though, he noted, she had passed two dances with a handsome-ish young man. A bit too young for Horatia's liking, he considered.

He returned his attention to Cecily, wondering where to escort her to and smiling rather charmingly.

OOC: We can continue the conversation or break off to find new partners; whichever! smile.gif I was just observing it was turning into a rather long dance and a rather long thread. xD

Cecily started to grin, but turned the grin into a demure smile as she caught Aunt Anne's eye from across the room. She curtsied, and allowed him to lead her from the floor.

"I am sure I have nothing in my life that would interest you sir. Why, I've never even been to Town, so I am afraid I might be a dull companion." she said, mentally nodding in satisfaction. Yes, that would probably suit Aunt Anne perfectly. Probably.
