DANIEL RANDOLPH HUMPHREY
user posted image

` THE ROLEPLAYER
you're also completely unaware that you laugh like a four year old.

Name/Alias: Shaunnnn. :]
Age: Sixteen.
Gender: Boy-parts.
Contact: thetreehuggerspiazza@hotmail.com or shaunc92@aol.com. OR PM.
How’d you find us? The amazing Claire left me a trail of bread-crumbs.
Other Characters: Nope.

` THE APPEARANCE
brown doesn't offer degrees in slut.

hair:
Daniel isn't a hair-whore, as many of the UESers, but he does like to take care of his dark brown, neatly cut, messy spikes. He does style it as often as he can with a little wax. The odd day goes by when, sure, he runs out of time and it is left to it's own devices. Though in some ways, it seems styled in it's own way. Bed-head, and all that jazz...
eyes:
A neatly-set, chocolate brown pair, which seem deeper than most dark eyes. Daniel's iris' have rather prominent dark streaks in them, which brush out from his pupils in thicker and thinner strokes.
facial features:
In the strictest of senses, nothing all that remarkable can be found within Daniel Humphrey's features. He has' notably, got a rather chiseled jaw line, and and matching angular features, which undoubtably encourage his handsome persona. But, despite this, within the confines of the UES, his looks can be deemed mediocre compared to the likes of Nathaniel Archibald and Chuck Bass, who's obvious heritage and good breeding simply scream 'Upper East Side Elite'.
height/weight:
Six feet & one whole inch. A guesstimation? Around the 180 mark
body build:
Dan doesn't work out as much as he knows he should, but he's blessed with a build that never seems to waver. Slim would be a rather inadequate name to place upon Daniel's frame, as he is rather muscular.
clothing/style:
Style-wise, at times, Dan can hold his own in a unique and perfectly fashionable way. He tends to be rather abrasive towards comfortable clothing whilst in school or at home, but when he forces it upon himself to make a conscious effort, he scrubs up nicely, to phrase it informally. He usually dresses in sports tee's with faded jeans, or as noted before, if making an effort to look the part, he dons this favorite groupings of dark colored waistcoats and lighter fitted shirts.
face claim:
The painfully adorable, Penn Badgley. You know, the one you want to cuddle forever? No. Oh. Just me then. Fine. MINE!

lucky for us mental acuity and common sense rarely come in the same package.

Weaknesses:
    - Decision making
    - His limitless pro-honesty.
    - He isn't a big party goer, so tends to lag in the social scene
Personality:
Upon meeting Daniel Randolph Humphrey, you'll instantly recognize his flair for humor and witty sarcasm. When it comes to quick thinking, he makes the A list. Unfortunately that sense of swift wit does not stem to his conversational skills on a serious level. He loses his train of thought, stutters, and then evidently comes out with some sarcasm-riddles comment that will have a smile break out on your face so fast, that you'll forget the seriousness of the original conversational topic. So, to be perfectly honest, take that as a warning for the less wary. His comedic skills also seem to reach out to all the girls he knows, who are adamant on discussing gossip, hence gossip girl, in front of him. When scratching away at gossipy topics, Dan can seem rude, but those who know him well enough take his sharp tongue in their stride. He's only kidding around after all. If he means what he says, he'll come right out and say so. When he is serious, there's no messing around. He'll pretty much tell you as it is.

As empty of actual reasoning and emotion as he may seem at time, Dan Humphrey has a big, big heart that he doesn't like to share with the world all that often, though it often gets the better of him and throws itself precariously at people that coax it. He is an excellent friend, or best friend for that batter. Best friend being the higher, more deserving of the two. To be a close friend of Daniel Humphrey's, you have to gain the mandatory trust. That's his one and only solid link and constant factor within his friendships. Break it, and he may as well have written it on paper, you ain't no friend of his. Null. Void. Nada. Nothing. You've broken the foundations. Without his trust, and your trust within him, you aren't worth a cent. But, of course, if you are his friend, then you can count on his judgement and each and every word he says. He won't lie to you, often anyway, at least, it'll never be anything more than an extremely light white lie. Promise.

Although most girls at Constance Billard would never dream of even giving Daniel Humphry the time of day, you could not find a guy more down-to-earth, sweet and romantic as Dan Humphrey, when in a relationship. Or "Lonely Boy". He is the type to light candles for dinner, and the type to just pull together a date at home to give a comfortable feeling, wether he feels comfortable with it or not. It's all about the girl. He's has, and always will be, this way. He's a sucker for traditional values and believes the best morals are the ones that are hardest to uphold. Dan is typically that guy that every girl wishes they had, but always end up over-looking. But, nice guys don't always have to finish last.

But believe it or not, and I know you saw this coming, Dan is quite sensitive. Sure, it might take him a little bit to see both sides of the story, but at least he does, right? Not like some guys. Better late than never.
` THE HISTORY
you know what's really weird? there's a garage door in the middle of your room.

Parents:
    FATHER . Rufus Humphrey,, 40's ``Gallery Owner/Ex-Star.
    MOTHER . Alison Humphrey,, 40's `` Artist.
Siblings:
    SISTER . Jenny Humphrey,, 15 ``Junior

History:
When your father's an ex-rocker turned artist, and your mother's run away with a european painter, who can say that your life is a simple as you wish it could be? No one. Correct. But, for old times sake, flip to the past shall we?
Daniel Randolph Humphrey, was born and raised in New York, as his stereotypical love for dark coffee may pin-point. But, in truth, even from a young age, he has despised of the terribly busy life style of the average New Yorker. The busy cars, the busy mommies and daddies, the busy teachers and the busy fucking everything. It would be inappropriate to say that Daniel was pushed aside as a child. He was loved, and christ he knows it, but he can't help but look upon the past with a trail of doubts. As noted, his mother was always busy with... something other than him. As was his father. Which is why he holds such a high relationship with his younger sister Jenny. From birth, she had been an important part of his focus, and beam for his waning concentration and unhappiness with the general life he led as the years went by.

Oh yes. The years went by, quickly evidentially, as most children's tend too. Life until High school passed without a concern nor a worry, a strange thing for a young child to experience. He always felt, to put it plainly, that he was a step ahead of the other children in his grades in most ways. Academically, he felt braver in terms of questioning and knowledge. In personality, the depth of his own seemed far more awning than that of his peers, and so his eleven year old passion for poetry and novels began, as strong then as it is today. Middle school came, and passed, and then came the big times. The big, big times in fact. Not only was he leaving behind, though he felt shame to say it aloud, the less mature and graciously clever children, but he would be making new friends within a social class that seemed a step ahead of him. For once, a challenge faced Daniel Humphrey, and he was entirely ready for it. Or so he thought, and expected.

Freshman high school was far more painful on a social level than Dan Humphrey ever could have imagined. Everyone else was critically elite, or if not, had links with such people. Who did he have? William Blake and his fellow band of dead poets, along with a few book characters and choice phrases from a few of his favorite scientists. The very idea of a party scared the pants right off of him, so when he was invited to one, the speechless gap that followed the questioning was taken as a positive answer. He didn't of course, intend to go, but his mother had forced it upon him. "It'll be good for you, to mix with the other teenagers for once. It's not good for you, to tag along with that Vanessa girl twenty-four seven. You need some other social links, sweety. You never know, you might meet a nice girl there?" His mothers words, words that he'd never forget. She hadn't been correct in the slightest, it hadn't been good for him. In fact, it had been terrible. Everyone had been striking up cigarettes given to them by older students, sipping at alcohol that they had become accustomed to from knocking back the stuff under tables at their mothers and father's gatherings. He'd tried, curios as anything, and hated in a split moment. He'd also sat rigid for the entirety of the night, bar a few minutes in which a girl with the most beautiful golden hair that he had ever seen came to sit beside him, before asking his name. He'd forgotten for a moment, but grasped at the D before following it with the remaining two syllables. God, she'd been hot. Painfully, on a physical level. At least, the ache in his jeans had seemed painful after she's slipped away, back into the crowd where she belonged. Daniel had fallen for the charms of Serena van der Woodsen in a moment, a half moment perhaps in which he had been mesmerized by her locks of hair and deep eyes, her silky voice, so different from his female friend Vanessa's. Alien almost. The straining in his pants hadn't been alien of course. A typical teenage boy, as strange and different as he may have seemed at times.

Sophomore year at St. Jude's dragged with indifference. He got up, went to the bus station, thought about his homework, and coming classes, perhaps Serena van der Woodsen for a few fleeting moments, before finishing out the day at school, then returning home for a well earned game of guitar hero with Vanessa. Simple. but he enjoyed it to some extent. Yes, he was a stranger within his own grade, but still, he got along without dreaded drama. His father was still struggling along with his artistic business, the gallery he'd been dreaming of taking of with only the slightest interest. The semesters came and went, as did his mother unfortunately when the summer months came around. Made off with a european artist, in fact. One of the many pinches of drama that were about to come tumbling in on Daniel Humphrey.

Dan was one of the first people to see Serena van der Woodsen after her long stint of absence. And it hadn't been all that pretty. He had in fact, knocked her purse out of her hand, spilling the contents across the floor of the train station. And, shit, she went and left her phone on the fucking floor. Dan picked it up of course, and returned it to her at her hotel. And surprisingly, she had offered him a date in return. Oh my. After a year and a half of crushing on her, she went right ahead and asked him on a date. Well shit. He accepted of course, and they got on like a house on fire, even if their first date was a bit rocky as dates go. He took her to his fathers first returning gig, though was forced to leave early when his sister Jenny texted him in distress. At a party. And if it was anything like the party he'd met the maiden besides him at, then he had enough reason to worry over her. Serena tagged along, and on arriving, helped to save Jenny from what seemed to be spiraling into a rather damaging sexual offense. The only person that was damaged by the time they found her, was Chuck Bass. Asshole, and public enemy. A simple meeting that started and ended with a single bust-eyes, and a simple relationship hence said eye.

And then came the wave of death. The wave, perhaps. Death is a far too powerful word, though the wave itself was powerful. The wave, of course, was the dreaded hand action that Dan had bestowed on Serena as a goodbye after their first date. Ouch. He'd freaked when remembering it the next morning, and so organized a better date. Which turned out to be even more disastrous than his wave. Trust was damaged. Relationship was evidentially damaged, but they managed to reconcile once the whole story was opened up to Daniel. No more stories from Blair Waldorf thank you very much. But then, Vanessa came home, expecting a gracious welcome. Boy was she wrong, and man, could she have picked a worse time to make her return? No. Jealousy ensued, of course, from both the blond and the brunette, each adamantly prefenced towards Daniel Humphrey. These feelings did slowly edge away, after a session that could only be classed between females as bonding. Though, a hard-core game of Guitar Hero wasn't exactly the epitome of girly bonding that Dan had had in mind.

There were too many females in his life, that was obvious. And to add to the load, along came Georgina Sparks, who marked the end of his time with the beautiful Serena. Not only had her pregnancy scare shook him a little, but his feelings of resentment towards her constant secrets and truth hiding took its toll on him. Georgina the liar, also empended terribly feelings upon him. He kissed her, as she had hoped and intended, but he received the truth from Serena. He and Blair, an enemy in retrospect, managed to shake of Georgina, and so began the summer holidays. A time in which he returned to the childhood years before the drama of high school. Fuck. Things had been peaceful then. Just him and Vanessa. Well, he enjoyed six weeks of it while it lasted. But now the bell is ringing...

QUOTE
The pain wasn't surprising. Daniel had known that pain would be inevitable. But the giddiness? That he hadn't expected, upon catching a glimpse of Serena van der Woodsen as she rounded the corner, the brunette he'd spotted along side her undoubtably Blair, as the pair rounded the corner. Sure, he the limelight had passed, he and Serena were no longer together. Life for the eldest Humphrey child was slowly returning to it's original state. But that didn't take the pain away. He wasn't all that sure if he wanted it to go away just yet. They still had time. They could still work. All he had to do was talk to her, try and patch things up, then everything would be fine, just as it had been. Everything...

No. It was pointless to dwell, something that he had learnt over the summer months. He'd had his shot with Serena, it hadn't worked and so their departing had been the easiest and most straight forward option. She felt the same, Serena had said so herself. They'd never work. The worlds between them just spanned to far a distance, and... No. Stop dwelling, Daniel. Actually? Stop thinking. Thinking only made him feel worse, giddier, the pain emphasized. And alone, it wasn't the usual ache of pain. He felt a little severed in places, like the months with Serena had created extra limbs that only linked with hers. But he had links, or limbs, with Vanessa too. Ones that had been severed and re-attached without the discomfort he was feeling. Shit, Humphrey! Stop thinking!

His footsteps clacked lightly on the pavement as he headed for the bus stop, the sun slanting strangely through the surrounding concrete. Winter was coming, an occurrence he hadn't been looking forward to. Winter equalled longer bus journeys and extra layers of clothing, something that would only emphasis the way he stuck out awkwardly like a leaf on the sleek stem of the Upper East Side St. Jude's. It had been easier before... her. He'd slipped in easily, unnoticed. Until she'd tagged him along, dragging him into her limelight...

Serena van der Woodsen. On his mind. Yet again. He had to stop this.
