Played at the last two HDIFs to a good, foot-stamping response...! So yes it'll be a pleasure. And yes to the others too. I may even chance BB...possibly.

ian - June 7, 2006 10:07 PM (GMT)

Ah, hoist by your own typo.

Can't think of a cake request. I worry that the cake gets wasted - maybe something smaller would be better? But thank you for the offer though...! I do love HDIF in Oxford!

BSE - June 8, 2006 09:34 AM (GMT)
arse! there was me being all smart an all. Still I do like the way thing2 makes me feel like i'm getting kicked in the playground.

I'm hatching a plan that involves getting my housemate drunk enough on saturday afternoon to persuade her that jumping on the Oxford Tube and going to HDIF would be fabulous idea.

I already think it's a fabulous idea, but she's having none of it at the moment...

ian - June 8, 2006 10:10 AM (GMT)

well, i can put you both on the guest list if that helps...!
:)

Thanks, Ian. If I get anywhere with my persuasions before then I'll be in touch. It's looking a little unlikely right now unfortunately :(

Cakes! This takes me back. Ian, do you remeber at the first, one-off HDIF in Oxford in 2003, Claire (AKA Mrs Dr Dave) made cakes to hand round? Must be something in the Oxford water supply that makes folk so eager to feed their fellow club-goers. We had a bit of a debate at the time about the 'most indie' cake, eventually deciding that they needed to be made with Orange Juice. (sorry, Ian's joke not mine).

I think the lesson might be that a batch of cup cakes will go down better than slices of one big one - people will be more inclined to take something they can eat immediately.

If you can be bothered making them, of course - such a nice offer.

See you there.

Thing 2 - June 8, 2006 01:05 PM (GMT)
i can do wee little chocolate cups cakes with little (edible) ball-bearingy thingies on top. i know frankie doesn't eat them so i could put - i dunno weeny marsmallows on yours? do u like marshmallows? unless you've got another idea! i don't mind!

t2 xx

Frankie - June 8, 2006 01:35 PM (GMT)
hundreds and thousands!!

i bloody love them. though i wont be at the oxford bash this saturday as i've got the joy of moving into my new flat and unpacking boxes all weekend. plus i hear there's a big game on this weekend too.

so feel free to go crazy with the ball bearings in my absence.

ian - June 8, 2006 01:42 PM (GMT)

Another vote for hundreds and thousands here!

purplepassion - June 8, 2006 01:53 PM (GMT)
but the ball-bearings are the only vegan bit........

Are they high in iron too? Ho ho ho.

I can confirm that jumping on the tube and going to HDIF in Oxford is a great idea. Unfortunately I can't make it this month as I'm broken, in just about every sense.

Thing 2 - June 8, 2006 02:02 PM (GMT)
100s and 1000s it is then....

damnit, I want to go to oxford, baking??? oxford rules.

_mv - June 9, 2006 04:47 PM (GMT)
On behalf of Team Oxford I'll predictably request some Magnetic Fields and some Hefner. Other than that I think I'll leave it to your excellent taste!

ian - June 9, 2006 05:07 PM (GMT)

Any songs by them in particular?

purplepassion - June 10, 2006 01:08 PM (GMT)
Hefner - god protect your home and hymn for the cigarettes?

What about me and T2 - are we team "middle of nowhere"?

ian - June 11, 2006 10:52 AM (GMT)

Well, that was fun! Thanks to Dr Dave for an excellent guest set, for Team Things for cakes and good cheer, for Team Oxford for being the life and soul as usual, and a slap round the head for myself for losing the memory card that wasn't even there in the first place. Oh yes, it was in my card reader at home. What an idiot.

Still, a great night. Sorry for moaning about the dancing on the stage, Martin, but it's just much much better for me when everyone's dancing on the dancefloor. There's just loads more energy to the night, and it inpsires me to turn in a better set if I can see people reacting to it. When everyone gets onstage, there's just a wodge of people who, to my eyes at least, don't seem to be dancing at all. But really I should just get over it. As long as you're having fun, that's the important thing.

:)

ian - June 11, 2006 10:53 AM (GMT)

Oh and...I have your friend's camera Matt. I can give it to Martin or a Team Oxford representative on Saturday if you like...!

Another great, great night ! Don't worry about the stage stuff Ian - if we'd have known we'd have moved down. I don't know what it is about that stage.. maybe we all have a subconscious desire to make an exhibition of ourselves on the video screen!

It was all a bit crazy last night, rarely have I been in a club with so many familiar faces in such a small space! Excellent fun though.

I'm less convinced of the need for a summer break now, to be honest. OK, so there won't be 20-odd Team Oxforders out every month for a while, but I'm sure it'll still be enjoyable.

See you on Saturday if all goes to plan, looking forward to checking out the Phoenix.
