Or is it au revoir?

Not before time I reckon. The great thinker Ken Dodd once said that should reapply for your own job every five years. Wossy hasn't reapplied for his for quite some time. I'm looking forward to seeing him make an effort again.
Indeed! I used a bit of a fan of him growing up... he seemed to have a passion for undergroundy things and i initially enjoyed his mid - late 90's reinvention as a bumbling loud mouth. However over time i have come to really doubt his integrity... for someone who used to bang on about being such a fan of underground music it shocked me how little he knew on his radio show. Also someone who TRULY was a massive Spiderman fan would NEVER... EVER call Spidey 3 "the greatest superhero film of all time".
Perhaps i'm just jaded coz i met him once at an Electric 6 gig at ULU... I said to him "Oh hi i used to really love the Incredibly Strange Film Show as a kid" and he just looked at me like he'd never heard of it and "oh... erm ok thanks" and breezed past me and went to talk inanely to some shrieking "can i take your picture on my phone" girls instead.
Now i'm not really one of chating to famous people for the sake of it.. i did TRULY love the Incredibly Strange Film show as a kid and thought it was a labour of love that JR would've had to fight hard to get on aire. I just wanted to let him know that for me at least that fight was worth it. But he obviously didnt give a sh!t about it.
It's odd how... someone who is deemed a professional would be so nonchalent about praise whereas Kevin Rowland (who has been deemed difficult by some members of the press) couldnt have been friendlier & was extremely courteous to me as I ranted on to him about how amazing his albums are in detail while he patiently waited to be served in a shoreditch bar.
